i was 6 when the log jammer closed, i was (and still am) too scared to go in those big rides. the log jammer was the first “big ride” i went on. i will always live on in my heart as one of my favorite rides
Will miss this. The new coaster and additional theming won’t be the same. With the exception of the hills this ride was almost peaceful in a way; just floating up among the trees (boy is that ironic). Another piece of Kennywood gone.
Patricia Roell-Bulischeck A lot of people are, we got to get over the past. If they close Jack Rabbit because of maintence and it’s is very hard to maintence, they might add another coaster like an RMC which may be better

I don’t doubt the Steel Curtain is awesome and can’t wait to ride it, but I wish it didn’t have to be built at the Log Jammer’s expense. To me it was a Kennywood classic, I know it don’t go back like the Jack Rabbit, which was built in 1918, but I’m 42 and it was there since I been going as a kid. It was a ride I always had to ride no matter what. It was fun, nice when you were with a date, the way you had to sit, and very kid friendly too. It will hit me when I get there and it’s not there. I’ll be sad, as happy and excited we got a new bad ass coaster, I’m just as sad there is no more Log Jammer...
I'll miss the Log Jammer because it was always a nice ride and a good way too cool off a bit without getting absolutely soaked, but it was definitely showing it's age. I think Kennywood got many returns on their investment with this ride, but now it's time for something new. Hopefully all that space behind the racer and the Jammer's foot print will be used for an awesome new coaster!

Notice how the track has a wide bit to the left before the first drop? That kinda acted like a reservoir to build up extra water so when the track narrows just before the drop it had the pressure and flow to (briefly) run up hill and push the log with it. Source - used to work on that ride a LONG time ago.
I think that you could kind of tell from this video that the ride was falling part, and the design was causing it. I'm sure that they did what they could with maintenance, but it was probably just getting to be too much. This probably explains why it had to be removed despite being a fan favorite. It does seem odd for a park like Kennywood not to have a true log flume.
The restoration at Knotts in 2012 made the flume better again, I personally prefer Timber Mountain cause the logs move faster and the inside is more mysterious
Good Riddance. All the old skool water rides can go. Their life span has ended and they don't fit in with the dry park when most have a separate water park.

This is among the best log flumes I ever rode so far. It ranks right up there with Dudley Do Right's Ripsaw Falls.

Timber Mountain at Knotts is also good
Spirit Of The Holidays both of those were some of the best rides when they opened. Unfortunately splash mountains legacy has lasted much longer

I can't believe they closed an Arrow flume for the god-awful abomination that is Steel Curtain.
