My best friend and I rode this on a super chilly night and the operator just let us keep going around…over and over again. Needless to say, we were soaked and our moms were not happy. But it was one of the best nights of my life 😀
I remember this ride, and I also remember holding on for my life since there were no belts or anything but bars you hold on for life. Scary times, but good memories.
Arrow made Loggers Run...but sadly they are out of business. Intamin probably wouldn’t do it after the whole Shoot the Rapids fiasco at Cedar Point. So idk what manufacturer could create a new version.
The last time I rode this ride was in September 1986, back when the park was still called Marriott's Great America. I was there to see the Monkees concert in the Redwood Amphitheater. 🙂
Lets Hope the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk keeps Loggers Revenge going strong for many more years to come. It's even more unfortunate because the sister park in Gurney still has both their Loggers Run & Yankee Clipper going strong.
The problem with the Santa Clara Park as to why so many original Mariott Attractions have been removed over the years is because the park is Landlocked, and parts getting more and more scarce, but very great things will come to the Santa Clara park thanks to the MASTERPLAN ;D but if you still want to ride a good classic arrow log flume, come to Santa Cruz.
Removing this ride in my opinion was a bad move. While I never been on this one, I have always ride on the clone at my home park Six Flags Great America and it’s a fun ride. So I feel really bad for whoever loved this ride. It could have lasted just a few more years if taken care of well. I get log rides are hard to maintain as time goes by, but this is one of CGAs classic rides from its beginning, now they lost both classic log flumes, they should have gotten rid of White Water Falls as its smaller and not original. But hopefully the sorely missed classic will be replaced with something better like a B&M Hyper.
Well, I didn't get wet from the ride, but I almost wet myself (with my eyes)...this video is so quiet; it makes it feel like the world is so empty without Arrow (which it is). How many more of these are they going to be? Every time I see one it just gets me all sad again. :-(
I don't understand why newer log flumes lift you up before the drop now. This did just fine with water at the top going down the drop with the "log". Weird
@@sfmman2000 In a way you're sort of right, if you're talking about the gate, there's photocells down at the very bottom and photocells in the chute area, if the log going down hasn't passed the photocell while a log is in the chute area the gates will close until the log passes the photocell at the bottom, then they automatically open, same with the 2nd gate, there's photocells there also, so if a log is in the chute, and the gate shuts, than the 2nd gate will shut also, if it doesn't, and you get two logs in the chute, than you have to shut it down, because if the gate opens and both logs go down at the same time, well, you can figure out what can happen, that actually happened to me one time, scared the crap out of me after the fact, no one told me I had to shut the chute down, I got two logs in the chute at the same time, but when one went down, the gates shut again and stopped the 2nd one from going down, and then I realized after the fact that I should have shut the chute down, then you call down to the station, tell them you have two logs in the chute, they shut down the entire ride and call the mechanics and a supervisor. And there you have it, tricks of the trade.
Our version is showing age and is not always open, but when it is its lines are massive especially on hot days. I feel like it will stick around along with Aquaman Splashdown (Formally Yankee Clipper) for as long as possible.
I was looking for this ride a month ago and I swore to my friends that there was a log flume. They told me I was probably just imagining it but Its true, there was a log flume! they shouldnt have removed it, i remember riding it when i was very little.
We're going to be there on a Thursday this summer (not sure if we'll arrive the moment it opens or after 1pm, one friend can't get there til after lunch). Is it worth getting a fast lane pass ($45 per person I think)?
They closed this ride down?! What the FUCK? First The Log Jammer at Magic Mountain in 2011 and then this in 2017. Why are the heads of amusement parks shutting down my flume rides? This makes me mad.

I wonder which Manufacturer could recreate the traditional log flume ride like this one.

Sad that it's gone. Really happy though that Six Flags Great America still has both Yankee Clipper and Logger's Run standing and operating.
My grandma was 87 when she first rode this. It's sad it's gone.

Come to Six Flags Great America to see it again!! :)
Rip another arrow log flume

Yeah Cali summers can get pretty hot so it was nice having this. Sad that it’s gone it was the best water ride imo
This was the best water ride and they took it down😭😭😡
Aw I was gonna go on here on Tuesday ;-;
You guys can come to Illinois and ride our Loggers Run
I never knew there was a log ride and great America!

Supposedly we're supposed to get a hyper for 2023
TigerRocks503 Aka: Chase I loved it and I’m sad they took it out
I loved this ride.
I’m still mad they got rid of this ride, it was one of my favorites that I’d go on over and over again

I would guess it's a safety feature so that logs can be more easily stopped (and spaced out) before going down the drop.

this ride has always been one of my favorites at CGA, and I think I'm gonna be salty about its removal forever
You can at least come down to Illinois as Six Flags Great America still has theirs along with Yankee Clipper (Now Aquaman Splashdown)

My sister went yesterday, and this ride was open. But aquaman splashdown (yankee clipper) was closed for the day. Maybe Loggers run is re-opening.
The one you see in this video was the one that California had.

If it makes you feel better and exact copy of this ride is at Six Flags Great America
You are the best
3:28. It’s hard to see but on the left in between two trees, you can spot some old Stealth footers remaining.
At 3:31 here’s a better look.
At 0:29 you can see Stealth's old station. It's the building that the stairs leading to the waterslides are coming from.

On a Thursday, no.
I had rode this 20 times rip
I remember when 2 kids tried to jump off the ride.. Well one made it the other one didnt.

As much as I miss this ride, they needed room for a waterpark expansion since Boomerang Bay was terrible.
Sad another one is gone but they didn't maintain the lower level at all. That thing is furry.
