Kennywood is such a little gem of a park. My first visit as an adult was a few months back... Nice and small, easy to knock everything out in less than a day if you wanted, but also packed with enough things to do in such a small footprint you could spend all day there. Love all the historical rides. Park for sure gives off those old timey vibes but in a great way. And the coasters are really top notch.
My mom was from McKeesport Pennsylvania and when we would go on family trips we always went to Kennywood Park. Me and my mom would ride EVERYTHING and my sister, brother and my dad would just wait🤣🤣She loved The Racer but The Jackrabbit was her favorite. Every time I watch a roller coaster video I can hear her yelling and asking me if I’m ok. RIP Ma💔
It would have been amazing to have footage of the original Phantom that caused so many injuries! I felt like my retinas detached at the bottom of the 5G turn on the bottom of the 220-foot drop. So happy it was re-imagined!
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing to have Steel Phantom POV also. The elements on that looked fun, but dangerous with it coming at those inversions at 80mph
i was barely tall enough to start riding it before it went away, my head bounced back and forth so much i got massive headaches, then the new one comes out, there is nothing holding my shoulders back, nothing to hurt myself on, and i try to duck when it goes under and smack my head.
@@empyrrhics9264 I still hurt myself on Phantom's Revenge on the airtime hills at the end the lap bar kept hitting me in the stomach or my stomach was slamming into the bar...either way my stomach was sore when I got off.
I remember it being fun as long as I remembered to press my head back against the seat. It was intense and I remember it took a few minutes after the ride was over for me to feel normal. I haven't been to KW since 1995 moved from the area in 1998, so I was bummed to find out it changed through yt and that the Log Jammer is gone. Glad to see the woodies are being preserved though.
The concept of racing 2 coasters is one I'm VERY suprised hasn't been duplicated more in other parks. Looking back on the concept it's so ahead of it's time
I've been going to KennyWood since the 70's only because my father grew up in North Braddock and mother in Rankin. Favorite memories, whip, umbrellas, turtle, thunderbolt, phantom's revenge, potato Patch. Can't wait to take my grandson.
The worst part about the Phantom's Revenge is that it's too short lol. Will forever be my favorite amusement park ride of all time. Probably based on nostalgia alone. There's something ethereal reminiscing about a warm summer day in my childhood, standing in line, looking to my right and seeing the glorious river and mills. Then seeing everything from far above at the coaster's peak. Riding so close to The Turtle ride-which I once rode before I was tall enough to ride the Phantom, and always longingly gazed at from below. The parts dipping under the other roller coaster, or the loop at the end surrounded by greenery, are forever engrained in my memory. I think I came here on an uncrowded weekday once, and was able to ride the Phantom over and over again until the park closed. I haven't been to Kennywood since 2016 but I've thought about it every summer since.
It's a lot of fun. Yes, it is intense going upside down 9 times, plus the inversion right off the lift hill! The hang time you get on that Zero G Stall...wow!
Went for the first time in 15 years recently. I'm not huge on 'big' coasters, but Sky Rocket and Steel Curtain seems to be formidable additions. Will always love Thunderbolt.
I used to ride the jackrabbit back in the late 70s and early 80s. I’m surprised it’s still around. I think the newest thing they had at Kennywood when I left was the laser loop.
Lived in Pittsburgh my whole life. Been to kennywood too many times to count. My first coaster was the jack rabbit and decades later it was my sons first coaster, too. Wonderful place to make memories with the family. ❤
Watching these videos is the next best thing since I can't ride roller coasters anymore 😢. I had a stroke 2 years ago, and it seriously affected my equilibrium.
I've never been to Kennywood while the Steel Curtain was open. I'm floored at how long it seems to last compared to the Sky Rocket. It looks like a very distinctive and unique ride. I'm not afraid of loops, but I do have to say, I prefer the Phantom because it's a bit more scenic. Giving you cool views and angles of the park without the neck jerks, allowing you to smoothly take it in. However, I love the part at 13:15, where it almost touches the water. And a nice aerial overview of those sitting areas on the left. I also admire the view at 12:39. That's gotta be one of the tallest views in Kennywood-after marveling at the view from the top of the Phantom, this is a cool new perspective. 12:47 had a nice straight soaring motion that looked satisfying. I look forward to trying the Steel Curtain at least once in my lifetime.
Both times I went on Racer was on right side, once as blue and once as green. Both times I went on it green won. And both times we were in front of the other train lol
LOVE Kennywood!! Been going there since I was a kid! Fright Night is so fun but cold! Will never ride the jackrabbit again. Last time I rode it my seat belt unbuckled and I couldn’t get it back on. Though I was gonna die!
I remember being terrified of the Jackrabbit when I was younger, now Im about to ride Steel Curtain and (maybe) Phantoms Revenge when I go to Kennywood in two days
Kennywood was my favorite place to go as a kid. The Potato patch fries are the best,no other amusement park fries are as good. I just wish that they would lower the price,Cedar Point is surprisingly cheaper.
My ranking: #1: Steel Curtain #2: The Phantom’s Revenge (this was close for #1 and #2) #3: Sky Rocket #4: Thunderbolt #5: Jackrabbit #6: Racer #7: The Exterminator #8: Lil’ Phantom

Steel Curtain I can handle, but lil' phantom? That's where I draw the line with roller coasters

Thanks for this! The Jack Rabbit was the first coaster I ever rode, almost 60 years ago. I was 15 or 16. Wahoo!

thunderbolt os the best!

Old and new. Steel and wood.
When I was little I used to be scared of roller coasters that went slightly sideways, now I’m desperate to ride Steel Curtain

I went to fright night last night. The sky rocket was a special kind of wild. Sadly the steel curtain and thunderbolt weren’t open.
Going to Kennywood tomorrow, excited as heck

Kennywood Amusement Park is located in the Borough of West Mifflin!!!
