- Hellooooo Laos!!!!
This will be the first of a four part series from Laos!
Having just arrived, I did what I love to do and headed to a morning market. Oh the things I found in this market. From Laos meats, sticky rice, and noodles to more adventurous things like bugs!
Nothing else, this is an amazing morning market and it is absolutely beautiful, if ever in Vientiane it is a must visit!!
Then I had to head out for some fried chicken because if there is one thins that I love it is some fried chicken!
Not the flavor I was expecting, but I will say, I think I need a papaya salad with all my fried chicken now. Not to forget to mention how crunchtastic this fried chicken was!

Hello Max ,
I‘m Lao from Germany 🇩🇪
Ich kann nur sagen. Du bist der Beste und genießt deinen Urlaub in Laos schön Bruder !
I am a Laotian American that has never traveled to Laos, but hope to one day have the opportunity to go. This is the first video of yours that I watched and I am just in awe!! It is so refreshing to watch such a free spirit travel a foreign country alone, I am fluent (partially) in Laos and I still wouldn’t feel comfortable traveling Laos without my momma. You are a brave person for being open with trying all of the weird funky smelly foods that most Americans would not dare try. Thank you for respecting the culture and educating others as well. You are more Lao than most Laotians I know. 😂 Your channel is awesome, definitely deserves more subs!
PS. After watching this vid, I called my mom and asked her to teach me how to make Khao piak sen. Thanks to you I enjoyed an afternoon bonding with mom and learned a new recipe.
wow, what a beautiful message. thank you so much. I really felt your kindness. Wishing you all the best and hoping you get to experience Laos.
Hey dude, love love love your channel! Always so entertaining to watch your vids!
Thank you so much for the message! Really enjoy hearing that!
Wow you can handle those chili ! Jeow ! Phet! Phet ! 🌶
😧🤤🤤😭 Starving now.... fried chicken and thum together, staple.

Hey Max , Man you are adventurous with those bugs . I'd have to have a couple of beers in me to try that one. Dude , that chicken !!!!!! I bet that was awesome . I love fries . I can't ever get enough . I really loved the look of the sticky rice in bamboo tubes. that's really cool. Thanks for a great show. Peace

you are very kind for thinking so! I have a long way to go:)
That was great 👍
Nice one Max!
Thanks brother! Glad you enjoyed!
Hi Max. I feel the struggle you had when eating noodles with a spoon. I think it's about time we got you your own pair of reusable chopsticks which you can chuck into your backpack when you're done eating. Fried grubs. Fried grubs. Fried grubs. I can't stop saying it. Fried grubs. Sorry, it makes me think of Heimlich from "Bug's Life". Luckily there's the carbs overload; dough sticks, sticky rice, khanom krok, chunky potato wedges. Now that really lifted my spirits. Give me carbs any time! And then you were late by a few, leaving you scampering for a stall that still had some fresh food, few choices left ... yet somehow you still managed to make a snack feast out of it. Precious. Remember how the saying goes, "The early bird catches the worm." Wait, you did have those. Haha. Papaya salad looks appetizing, I'm going to take your word for it though that it's not that great by itself but just you pair it with something else (in this case the KFC) and the wedding of flavors makes them so much more toothsome. Another tiptop job, Max, nonetheless I feel like this is just a preview of more tasty Lao foods to come. Can't wait to see what they are. Thanks for keeping it very interesting. Cool bananas!
hahaha yes I did have those😂😂😂 see the trick is you have to marry the flavors together! I try my best to keep things interesting! Thank you so much for always watching and caring!
Yummmm...Fried chicken looked good....

So glad you did a video on Laos 😊. Not alot of peoples know about Laos. FYI, Laos/Thailand speak same almost same languages, except Thai has a accent. Laos is located next to Thailand. As for foods, both love Spicy,Sour,Bitter, Salty, and sometimes Sweet. Great video Max!
thanks Twinkie Girl! I was really excited to release these videos and hoping my next couple do not disappoint either!
The Kao Piek Sen is my fave soup to make! The powder you would use to make the noodles are rice flour and tapioca starch. Noodles are easy to make!! You should try one day 😋
Kapiek is my favorite! Looks delish!
Max you are doing great job man, love watching you growing day by day, I have seen Mark Wines from the beginning and it reminds me you are going to do great food travel contents
Thank you so much I really needed this to help my mood after reading some not so great comments. Means more than you realize, thank you.
@@Macoi24 keep it up mate, and if you ever come to Australia you can count on me, I can show you around where to go here in Sydney
hey I really appreciate that! I got a lot more to come! Not sure when I will come, would like to but I will need to make a little more cash before I do that, ha!
take your time mate, I am myself, food lover, I grew up watching Anthony Bourdain and Andrew Zimmerman and I have finally decided Australia is full of multicultural, various nationalities and I can start something over here

hello i am laos🇱🇦, thank you for coming
Boy! you sure eat a lots and they all look so yummy
Hi Max the noodles are made out of rice flour and tapioca flour 1/2 and 1/2. Tapioca flour give it that sticky and chewy texture and rice flour kind of soften it down .
Your snack feast is like a full meal complete with rice
hahaha eh, I think it looked like more than it was!

Wow delicious Laos foods,
Helloooo Max from the land of Laos. Very hot and tropical. Made my day dude. Wow that’s a large market with lots of thing to buy, or see. Grilled sticky rice, I think I’m going to try that in my bbq. Here we go, soup is good lot of good taste. You are so good in slurping that noodles no red spot on your white shirt😁😁. Omg, I just had a wrapped sticky rice wrapped in banana leave for breakfast. I love your street scene. Great blog Max..always. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 snacking on bug chips. I am so jealous, those chicken are huge. KFC you need to watch this, your chicken are tiny compare to Laos chicken.
haha the fried chicken was huge and crunchy! It went to so well with the papaya salad! And those noodles were actually really hard to eat with just a spoon, I thought my shirt was going to get splashed forsure!
Max McFarlin 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Man, this is unbelievable. i've never seen foreigner tried so much local Lao food like you. Especially, bags of bugs (most foreigner don't even bother to try local food).

Ooh been waiting for you to post your Laos videos :D Was there the same time as you but was always a city behind! haha My parents are from Laos so makes me happy when people visit the country.
Also appreciate you trying out food influences in other countries (your previous video you tried Viet food in Korat, Thailand). My parents are Chinese but they grew up eating Lao, Thai, Viet and Chinese cuisine in Laos so it's awesome you paid attention to these influences. :)
Hey! I wish we could have met up for a meal! That would have been awesome! I myself have been really excited to show these videos! Thank you so much for watching and I hope you enjoy these videos as well!

I love to go to Laos with you Max...!
Can't never get enough of sticky rice...for the record sticky rice is a traditional food of Khmu and Lao. In case people are wondering what Khmu is, they are the indigenous people of Laos.
Max ăn được ẩm thực các nước, verry good
Oh yes!!! Ate there before!!!!!
Really enjoy your videos bro. I put you in the same category with Trevor James, Mike Chen and Mark Wiens.
That is some high praise! Thank you so much but I have a lot more to prove!
Yes, someone that knows a little sticky rice and jeow is needed with a meal!!
