    Mark, you guys did an amazing job explaining about our culture, people,places & foods.I left my country over 40 yrs.ago, and I still missed it every day.I'm 55 yrs.old currently living in America and doing well.your videos inspired me to go back to " LAOS " very soon.keep up the great work you are more passionate than: ANTHONY, ANDREW, And GORDON combined... they're doing it for $$$, you're doing it from your heart and married to laos lady-it can't get better than that.wish you the best of luck & be safe.

    Your travels for food in Asia, inspired me. I have lived for 58 years in Holland and I'm 65 now. Recently i discovered a new gift for writing stories and planning, if faith let me, in the coming years to go in one place in Indonesia and write stories about it, and also make drawings about Indonesia. Thanks, for keeping me inspired not to forget my birthplace.

    You need to go to laos 🇱🇦 more. I never realized how much different Laotian and Thai food were because I’m Laotian and I’m 20 years old born in America. I grew up eating all these types of food and I absolutely love it all so much. I’ve been watching you forever and I’ve always seen you eat at Thailand probably because you live in Thailand but it’s nice seeing you go to the place where my parents originated from. It’s nice to understand the language a lot better in Laos for me too instead of Thailand. But I will always be in love with Laotian food and I just had a baby and I want her to grow up eating Laotian food just as I did in America but it’s going to be a lot harder because my girlfriend is American(white) and she only likes certain dishes that I make her but I really enjoyed these episodes of laos I really appreciate it mark!!

      Well you can say that for Northeastern Thai food too, because they are basically the same things

    • @onesaitama5156
      @onesaitama5156 4 года назад

      @@ikkue Northeastern Thai are Lao people originally, part of the North of Thai used to be Laos, but it was over taken by Thailand during war time in the past. The Thai king in the past decided Thailand need to be bigger so he invaded Laos and takes over part Laos and call it Thailand today. The people in the north east also speaks Lao, they don't speak Thai.

    • @onesaitama5156
      @onesaitama5156 4 года назад

      ikkue Just to let you know that those north eastern foods in Thailand are also Laos foods. Thai people mostly make their foods sweet and hardly spicy like Lao people, even their papaya salad is sweet.

    • @ikkue
      @ikkue 4 года назад

      @Tho Athome We know that. We all do. But Thais make food to fit the Thai palette which is very extreme in every single flavor. So when you say that the papaya salad is sweet is because we're used to it that way, and I would argue that Lao people don't put enough sweetness in their food.

    Hi Mark! I really enjoy your videos and as a Laotian American, I was excited to see that you are in Laos! That "custard" lettuce wrap that you were eating is not usually pre-assembled like that. It is usually organized as a platter with the respective ingredients (lemongrass, dried pepper, peanuts, pork grinds) and you assemble it yourself. The "custard" is made out of ground rice and pork. It's a wonderful medley of soft and crunchy textures as well as herb-y flavor :) I didn't notice any peanuts or pork grinds with your wraps so I'm sad you didn't get the full experience for that dish. But I'm glad you enjoyed everything else!

      Travel for real dude! I don't know your situation in terms of finance and ability to travel (or maybe you're too young yet) but you must do what you can even if its just cheap bus travel in your home country for now. If you want to do it, you must. Travelling is great and watching Mark sure helps scratch the itch during corona virus restrictions on travel but there's nothing like the real thing.

    Thanks for going to my home country! I haven’t been there yet 😢. I’ve looked at Laotian videos online for their food markets and there has not been a good one posted online except when I stumbled on yours. Thank you for sharing your experience!

    Joel is never not blazed out of his mind.
    He can't form a sound without imitating Mark because he can't form his own coherent thoughts.
    That being said, Mark is also high.

    Lao Food!!!
    Laos is pretty underrated...and it kinda makes sense that it's still quite unknown because of its neighbour countries.
    The country is big and there are only a few popular/touristy spots like Luang Prabang, Vang Vieng, and well, Vientiane?
    We stayed for about for months, not only travelling but also volunteering in a couple of places, seeing and experiencing the local life.
    I'd say that Lao people are very welcoming and friendly and humble. We loved to hang out with them and miss them all!
    Food is also underrated and even though there isn't as much as variety as in Vietnam, but still, so much to try.
    Regarding money, we felt it wasn't as cheap as Vietnam, but since it's quite unexploited, definitely cheaper than Thailand or Cambodia. Which makes it very affordable for any kind of traveler!
    I don't know why I'm saying all this in a comment, if you read this far, come over our channel and see another kind of vlog from a different point of view!
