The Canning Garden fried chicken is THE best! My family has been going there for more than 20 years and the owner's wife hasn't aged much. Their chicken has been consistently fabulous. I still go there every time I am back in Ipoh without fail..their other dishes are also really, really good. There's a lot of care and quality that goes into their food and it shows. And yes...get there early to avoid the line. Another great thing about them is they fry the chicken in batches so you always get fresh chicken. Its also the one time I like battered fried chicken with rice. Its just too much flavour to eat on its own. The combo is just brilliant. Good on you for finding this gem. Most food bloggers I've seen tend to miss this place somehow. Well done!
Thank you so much! I was very happy I foound it as well! It also has a funny story to it! They were very friendly to me when I was there so I wish them nothing but the best!
I'm so over the moon I've subscribed to your channel, amazing journeys to delicious foods. You make me hungry every time I watch one. Keep up the fantastic work love them xx

I should never watch your videos at bedtime. That sticky rice though man....I gotta try that one day. Thanks for sharing your food adventures, allows me to live vicariously through your experiences. Best from Guam!
Hi Matt, you can also order bean sprout chicken with rice noodle (kue teow) instead of rice. Another side dish that you can order is boiled chicken intestine, this is crunchy and yummy, learned to eat this when I was in Ipoh previously.
This is funny.. I’m from Ipoh originally and I visit my family there 2 or 3 times a year. I didn’t even know these places existed! Will definitely try them when I’m there next. Thanks for sharing, Max!
It is supposed to be a few drops of the fish sauce that prepared on the table which looks like soy sauce instead of few drops of broth 🙂, would be tasted even much better. Went to stadium after swim this morning for the same hawker stall you had after watching your clip in here.
Dang it's 11pm and I'm hungry watching you eat Ipoh food, since you went to canning garden, you may want to try the food court at night. Lots of food there, less touristy. Very good taste
I love Ipoh's food n small town living. Sh also visit Pusing, a mining town, and Papan, both a historical town. They hv the best food n desserts there. Did u know, Hollywood went to Pusing to make a movie there?
