The first time I heard this song was early in 1972, I had recently returned from Vietnam and was finally discharged from the Army at Christmas 1971. My sister bought tickets to a concert at Carnegie Hall in New York as a Christmas and welcome home present when there wasn't much in the way of welcome. Amazing concert, I became a huge fan of Don McLean and this song is my favorite. What a great collaboration - Don McLean and Home Free. Nice job guys
This sounded so beautiful, Don's voice with Rob and Austin's was just magical, and with Tim ,Adam and Chance in the background was simply gorgeous.well done on another hit

When you combine your favorite group (Home Free), your favorite artist (Van Gogh), and a song from a great song writer and singer (Don McLean), you get a fantastic video, magnificently and beautifully done and performed! Thank you from the bottom of my heart! ❤❤❤❤❤ Love you all!
I'm an artist. My favorite artist is Vincent van Gogh. I've read much about his life. It's so obvious that Don McLean did his research in crafting this beautiful song. He has captured Vincent's brilliant and tortured story completely. And Home Free has added their incredible touch to this amazing rendition. Bravo!
What a lovely Song !!!!, and I think Don Mclean is singing better then ever here, and Home Free is the best Harmony group in the world today !!!!!! Best wishes from Norway !!!!!
What about this: Why Does Somebody Always Have to Die by John Rich, we want Rob Lundquit to take full lead, will used dominant of chest throughout whole song but trying to struggle to sing but choppy by sandpaper smooth and little of haunting vibe but cherry spin but somber vibe with some lower and mostly higher register, high harmony by: Adam Chance and collaborate with Home Free by Austin Brown, Tim Foust will used surround sound effect just used chest with different depth for the bassline.
Talented acapella groups sometimes are tempted to over dramatize a song to show off their talent. No vocal gymnastics in this one; subtle, beautiful and tasteful collaboration with the original artist. Well done gentlemen.
What about this: Light Of The World by Chris Ledoux, we want Adam Chance to take full lead, high harmony by: Rob Lundquit and collaborate with Home Free by Austin Brown, Tim Foust will used mixed of chest and perfectly pace chest fry for the bassline
I’m literally in tears right now. This is one of the greatest and most heart felt tribute songs ever written. How awesome that you got to perform it with Don McClean. Another home run from Home Free.
Just heard this song on the radio yesterday. Told hubby how much I’ve always loved it as a tear ran down my cheek! Beautifully written, fantastically sung, perfect collaboration, Rob’s vocals. And can we talk about the ending? Goose bumps!!

I’m still in tears from listening to this song. Don still has the ability to move his audience, and the addition of vocals by Rob and Austin sent the song soaring even higher.
What about this: Hungover In A Hotel by Jason Aldean, we want Rob Lundquit to take full lead, will used dominant of chest throughout whole song with mixture of thinner and little undertone of thicker sounding but maintain thinner and way less of whiner like tone of Jason Aldean with some lower and mostly higher register, high harmony by: Adam Chance and collaborate with Home Free by Austin Brown, Tim Foust will used mixed of subterranean chest and growl that we didn’t hear it but we feel it for the bassline.
What about this: It Could've Been So Good by Collin Raye, we want Adam Rupp to take full lead, will used clear and clean and smooth beyond smooth like a opera singer without vibrato with some lower and mostly higher register, high harmony by: Adam Chance, Rob Lundquit and collaborate with Home Free by Austin Brown, Tim Foust will used surround sound effects of just used chest with different depth for the bassline.
I can't believe this - i just heard this song on the radio a few days ago again, some years after I heard it last, and my husband said: "Great, now I won't get that soung out of my head for weeks" - He was right - and I could not, either. Can't wait to listen to Home Free's version! 😃

This song was beautiful 50 years ago and still holds the same in my heart. So wonderful that Don McLean, the original artist, was invited to sign along.
My mother, then in her early 80's, went with me to the large Van Gogh show in Dallas. I had too much information. She had almost none. Enchanted, we looked at all the paintings. When we reached the very last ones, never reading any of the posted data, she seemed not to notice the silence of the viewers around us. She looked for a time at the unfinished painting, and said to me, "Oh no. Did this lovely man do harm to himself?" I could not answer, and neither could anyone else there. The silence was soon filled with the sounds of quiet mourning. It was as though we had all lost him again.
The creation of this version by Don and Home Free is a dream song come true to hear...what a stunning collaboration... giving this classic song a beautiful new life...for a next generation to hear and appreciate...and can we just note the videography is excellent

Beautiful, absolutely beautiful. Don McLean and Home Free a match made in heaven. I don't believe any other group could combine with Mr. McLean to bring this hauntingly beautiful masterpiece into the 21st century for a new generation to enjoy and pass on to future generations. Thank you Mr. McLean and Home Free for keeping beautiful music alive.
Vincent. That was the name of my best friend who died in 2nd grade. Everyone else in school pretty much forgot him. I never will. This song always reminds me. TY for covering it.
I am a Home Free patron and also a huge Don McLean fan. This is spectacular and to date my favorite collaboration. Thanks for sharing this with the world.
Such a beautifully sung song by the legend Mr. Don McLean. 🎶🎵🎶 I've heard this song all of my life but never as beautifully done as with the addition of my favorite group of "HomeFree ". This still has me shedding a tear or two. Thank you to all who were involved with bringing us this gorgeous arrangement. ❤ More collaborations would be fantastic. 🦋💙🦋💙🦋

A huge statement has been reinforced numerous times over the last half dozen years when notorious artists have collaborated with Home Free in singing legacy hits and in several cases have reached out to Home Free. Home Free has shown extraordinary respect to these artists to the point there is mutual respect and admiration that is very visible both ways. Home Free is a very humble group of guys who know how to pay their respects as they showcase these well-respected and well-known artists. Just wow, and we are the benefactors of this wonderful trust as they deliberately give each other and us a chance to enjoy once again a freshness to the decades that gone on before us with a wonderful tribute. Home Free is showing the industry a strong core value of High Regard, Strong Consideration, Attentiveness, High Opinion, and Due Regard for those who have set the stage for the music we enjoy today. Thank You Home Free, for your leadership by action that we all admire and appreciate doing things the right way!!!!! ❣
Don McLean doesn't write lyrics, he puts poetry to music. This was just beautiful and Mr. McLean still sounds wonderful! Rob was the perfect voice to complement Don's & when he & Austin sang together it was fantastic. I sincerely hope that a copy of the picture in which you're all literally absorbed is included soon in the merchandise. I've so missed the once monthly releases of "From the Vault" - this would kinda make up for it!
My dear Home Free boys; I was a junior in high school when this song first hit the airwaves and was often playing on my car radio and was always one of my favorites. This version to me is better than the original; it gives the song a new depth and warmth. Don sounded amazing, Rob was perfect for this and Rob and Austin’s harmonies were magical. I think I’ve listened to this at least 50 times already, it is so special. You are by far my favorite group, you touch my soul like no other group has or can. Please don’t ever stop making such beautiful music, you have an effect on people much deeper than you may realize. Love you guys! ❤

Wow! What an incredible ending. I mean, yes, the song was wonderful. And poignant knowing that Austin will soon leave the group…but the video! That ending sliding into the Van Gogh and then the five of them observing like one does at a museum. So very cool!!
Vincent was my favorite artist. At some point I learned of his "challenges" and the love that his brother Theo had for him. Theo knew that even tho he only sold one painting in his lifetime that he was great beyond the understanding in the art community at that time so he kept him supplied with supplies and a meager livelihood. The bond was so great that after Vincent died, Theo followed him just a few months later. Don did a great job with the writing of this song, and to hear him with these guys just puts the cherry on the pie!
What about this: She Treats Her Body Like A Temple by Confederate Railroad, we want Adam Chance to take full lead, will used dominant of chest throughout whole song with whatever the extremities technique of his vocal type with some lower and mostly higher register, high harmony by: Rob Lundquit and collaborate with Home Free by Austin Brown, Tim Foust will used mixed of chest and perfectly pace chest fry for the bassline.
Ah, I remember Don singing this song when I was a young teen-ager (yes, I guess that makes me an official "old lady"--proud of every wrinkle and gray hair). This is just as great as the original was and it's going right on my play list.
I’ve been listening to this song since it was released in 1971. Don’s voice is as beautiful and pure as it was back then. Thank you, Don and HF, for this treasure.
I was lucky to see Don McLean at theatre St. Denis in Montreal. Apparement, his band was unable to clear customs, so we were treated to a completely acoustic concert. It remains one of the highlights of my life - despite being over 40 years ago... I was lucky enough to see this with one of the loves of my life. Thank you dear..
A most beautiful song sung by a favorite singer, a favorite group to honor a favorite artist. Love them all and so happy for this experience. Vincent I hope u are listening and know how much we appreciate your art work and this song for u. My great uncle and brother's middle name is Vincent.
This was one of my father's favorite songs. The weekend before hè passed, I brought my laptop to the hospital and played some of his favorite songs. Oh My God!!! Just when I thought this video in its pure conception could not get better.. they created a masterpiece at the end.... Thank you Mr. Don McLean and Home Free..
Awesome collaboration of Don McLean with Home Free. Don sounds great. Rob's voice was perfect for this and Austin. The backing vocals by Adam, Tim and Chance with their harmony just made me love this song even more. It sounded absolutely beautiful. Thank you for collaborating on this one.

Just heavenly. Thank you for not trying to do too much with it from an arranging perspective. The writing is the star here, and singing with the man himself must have been an incredible treat. @theroblundquist was magnificent in accompaniment. :)
I could not think of a better collaboration with McLean, than the voices of Home Free. Tonal complimentary, and sung so smoothly. The definition of vocal harmony.

There is a question mark over if it was suicide or an accidental shooting by another.
@@Windsweptgolddefinitely suicide, if you know anything about Vincent Van Gogh it was definitely suicide
🎼🦋🦋 .. hmmm , I don't know how to listen to this song without tearing up. I have listened to it for over 39 years , and now .. with these men from Home Free .. it is alive again. Thank you Don for this gift, and Home Free for honoring the way you have. 🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸

@loveloochay, that's the trick, you're supposed to cry. It's a timeless bardic masterpiece.
Such a wonderful memory for you. Welcome home!
And Thank You for your service.
I too returned from Vietnam in early December 1971, I love this song!

@KayOhio pure magic ❤
Bravo!
So many talented people of all genres are tormented. They feel what most cannot. They see what most cannot.
Did it occur to anyone that Don's voice got BETTER since 1999? It's AMAZING!
Don McLean and Home Free: a match made in heaven...

Talented acapella groups sometimes are tempted to over dramatize a song to show off their talent. No vocal gymnastics in this one; subtle, beautiful and tasteful collaboration with the original artist. Well done gentlemen.

One of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. So full a tear-filled meaning.
My hubby of 52 years is VINCENT, and he is a painter!
Love this so so much! Rob, Rob, Rob! Austin, so little but so impressive!

This song and vocals always leaves me in tears. Excellent collaboration between Don and Home Free.
This was absolutely gorgeous! I've been wishing I could hear HF sing Babylon for years. That would be awesome :)
the version they have created with Don, is going to blow your minds....all of their special talent will be on display and Don keeps up with them. This is VERY VERY VERY special
Truly exquisite, breathless, rarified. Precious stuff.
@@SandraPaulsenPhD their talent along with Don, this is incomparable. I must have played it well over 100 times the last few days.
OMG I didn't realize it was Home Free AND Don McLean together!!!
This was awesome!
WOW! I'm simply lost in a dream right now.

Wow! What an incredible ending. I mean, yes, the song was wonderful. And poignant knowing that Austin will soon leave the group…but the video! That ending sliding into the Van Gogh and then the five of them observing like one does at a museum. So very cool!!
Home Free, the magicians of the blend.
Me too, except I’m officially an old man.
I’ve been listening to this song since it was released in 1971. Don’s voice is as beautiful and pure as it was back then. Thank you, Don and HF, for this treasure.
Superb! How lovely to see Adam singing, too. Well done all ❤
I was lucky to see Don McLean at theatre St. Denis in Montreal. Apparement, his band was unable to clear customs, so we were treated to a completely acoustic concert. It remains one of the highlights of my life - despite being over 40 years ago... I was lucky enough to see this with one of the loves of my life. Thank you dear..
I have cherished this song since I was a young pup. Now, all the more reason to cherish it. To let Rob shine in this was/is brilliant. Outstanding.
