Happy New Year, my crafty friends! I made this video in hopes that if you decide to buy the BetterPress system, the way I use this new tool, I’d the best way to keep your platen and chase clean. I am so glad to have discovered you today. I purchased a Better Press about 3 months ago but as I am in the middle of redoing my whole craftroom, I have not had the opportunity of playing with it. You have so inspired me to try it as soon as possible. You are easy to listen to and I enjoy how you explain the processes very simply. I am your new subscriber. Thank you so much for sharing your talent and knowledge with us.
Oh, what a lovely comment. Thank you so very much! Im so glad I inspired you to break out your new crafty tool. Have fun with it and let us know what type of material you use to protect it! Welcome to my channel! 🥰🥰🥰
Oh yeah! Press & Seal works like a charm. Put the sticky side down on the surface and fold it over the edges and tape on the back. It doesn't interfere with the magnetic surface at all. I still haven't had to change it and have used my Betterpress a lot. Needless to say, I had already thrown away all the cellophane packaging. Thanks for the idea. It's silly, I know, but I can't stand ink stains on my tools if I can help it.
I really enjoyed your step through on the Betterpress Kathya, thank you! I got one for Christmas this year and did very similar to what you did with the wrap. I'd also seen all the stained press plates and thought ahead about this, so it was good to see I wasn't the only one thinking on this issue. Your designs are divine and interesting to see the Catherine Pooler inks used. Thanks for sharing such a great step through xoxo
Wonderful! I’m so glad you did the same. I hate stained craft items. I didn’t want this to get stained. The tools we buy are not cheap so I want to keep mine looking as clean as possible for as long as I can. It’s so fun to play with! Thank you for watching and commenting! 🥰
All I do is ink my plates on a paper towel, lift them from underneath, then place them on my chase. Easy easy. No ink to clean up. Then you can use the same paper towel to clean the plate.
Kathya I just came upon your channel and I’m so glad. I have been wanting to purchase this but I’ve been holding back. Anyway, I so appreciate your candor and your process of using the BetterPress. You got a new subscriber.
You are so welcome! Welcome aboard. The only thing that was frustrating was watching all other crafters get ink on the grey base and I wanted to find a way to work around that. I’m excited to use the new tool with the glimmer tool, which is on my birthday wish list. Thanks for the kind comment and Happy New Year! 🥰
Love your idea of covering the “plates” with plastic. I just got my betterpress yesterday, but haven’t used it yet for fear of not being able to clean it! Lol
Hi Kathya, Your cards are absolutely exquisite. “Thank you” for the fantastic tips. I haven’t used my Better Press either but now that things are returning to normal in my life, I’m going to get it open.
Yes, I have a Better press and happy to learn these tips as I have not used it yet!!!! All of your cards are beautiful I think the blue one is simple but elegant and your colored ones are beautiful ❤️
i don't have a better press yet. i have one on order. Glad to see your video. I will keep the packaging. I really like the blue and white card. they are all beautiful. hard to choose just one. but for easy peasy, the blue one.
Stunning cards. I love the colors. Especially inking the design with the Flame ink, & then coloring with the inks. That bit of orange in the leaves is fantastic. And I really like how you used different label dies to stamp the sentiments on. I have a bunch of those but rarely use them. You’ve inspired me to get them out. I came across your channel this morning & I’m really enjoying your videos. Thanks!
You mentioned a second better press video with more ideas on how to protect the plate? Can't find it. Have you tried Press & Seal? Thank you! Love your cards and ideas :)
What is the stamp pad magnet tool you used? Is that a self made creation or is it available for purchase? Would be super helpful for regular stamping for people with arthritis.
Hi! This is a total DIY! I shared a video on how to make these for your ink pads. Hope this helps: ruclips.net/video/lE0zo6OO_-s/видео.htmlsi=S2WZRSwk6Y5q2yJ7
Hello I do have the better press and love it. I love the card with the color flame that is a beautiful color. All your cards are just beautiful. I can use water colors on this linen paper? Thank you so much.
Hi Kathya! Thanks so much for your BetterPress video. I purchased mine about a month ago and have yet to use it. Glad I waited so I could learn your tips on how to keep it clean! I appreciate you sharing your trial and errors with us. Your information is really helpful!
Is gorgeous card panels!! The betterpress is on my list. I was hoping to get one for christmas but that didn't happen, but I'll definitely be getting it soon. I've seen some people put some Sizzix sticky grid on the platen. Really great idea to cover the platin and chase. I'm wondering about simple saran wrap. Also I love the color of that eucalyptus ink. That went right on my list lol. I'm an SU demo, but love Catherine's inks so am slowly switching over to some of them. Just found your channel tonight, but I'll definitely be watching some more videos!
That’s wonderful! I will be uploading a new video soon. I’ve had so much going on these past couple of months so that’s why my channel has been so quiet. I just checked and have never seen the BetterPress at this price! Here’s my affiliate link in case this price is more doable: amzn.to/3TsQwiG
Thank you for your thoughts and ideas on how to keep your plates clean because I got mine all messed up right from the get-go and it really bothers me because I like things to be clean. I do have the page protector that I can very easily cut and use on both plates so thank you for that. That really helps make a difference.
I haven't invested in a BetterPress yet. Your idea of how to keep it clean is very clever and the Amazon price is appealing. It took me two years to go for the Glimmer and I love it so I may end up caving on the BetterPress too. It's the ink and plates expenses and storage that have stopped me so far.
I totally hear you on that! I still don’t have the Glimmer system but have asked for it as a birthday gift. 😊 I like that you can use the press plates in the Glimmer system. The nice thing is that you can use your existing inks with it. That so,d me. Thank you for commenting! 🥰
Thank you! No, I didn’t but I do have some Gamsol, though. I didn’t take the time to blend it at all but it still gave beautiful results. Thank you so much for watching! 🥰
Thank you - this is a super helpful video. I just opened up my Betterpress kit an hour ago. I wish I’d seen this first - I managed to get black ink smeared over grey plate. Fortunately I had some Rangers Archival Ink Remover… it took a few applications to remove the stain. Well, I have the plastic packaging bag and will use that to protect the plate. The embossing effect is very subtle - I tried adding a cardboard shim as I was expecting more impact tbh - but the shim just caused an unsightly imprint on the reverse side of my cardstock, whilst barely making any difference to the front. I loved your card examples. I’ve subscribed as always on the lookout for helpful tips and inspiration.
Thank you so much for your kind comment. I’m glad you were able to get some of the ink off the grey base. At least you can protect it going forward. Happy crafting and thanks for subscribing. ♥️
Thank you so much! Yes, I love this ring, too. It looks like a spoon ring but not quite. It’s a bit on the thinner side but I still love it. I bought it on Amazon. Great tips and beautiful cards! I’ve also used Press ‘n’ Seal with success, as has been mentioned here. I’m a new subscriber as of today! Also, which label dies are those in this video?
Thanks for the video; your tips are really good. I’m hoping you can help me solve my issue with the letterpress system. I have an Empress machine that I love. I have just had surgery on my right shoulder and will have surgery on my left shoulder within the next six months. I bought the Empress because it became to painful to use a manual machine. I’ve watched videos of people using an Empress but I’m afraid to do the same thing. I’m scared silly about causing damage to my Empress. Do you have any thoughts or advice that might help?
Oh, I sure hope you heal quickly!!! I feel your pain! ♥️ I don’t own the Empress, unfortunately. However, I would recommend you call the manufacturer to ask those questions or, search on RUclips to see if anyone else has had success using the BetterPress system in that machine. I sure hope this helps, and best quick healing wishes on your upcoming surgery!
Agree. But after trying the BetterPress, the amount of detail you get on the specialty paper is unmatched by anything else I’ve tried with regular dies. Thanks for watching!
Darn I tossed my packaging….wonder how Press & seal would work on the chase. I’m not so worried about the platen. Washing the plates is great but running to do that is ugh. Alcohol works for me & a test on scrap with nothing on it to ensure no ink is lingering. Still new at it, so your video is great! Ty 😊
This is just a little above and beyond for me. Using your craft supplies means they're going to get dirty. Meaning that they're well-loved and well-used. Having that plastic on their seems like more of a hassle to me
I hear you, but I work hard to keep my hands free from ink and my projects, too, because I always ruin them. But, I know others aren’t bothered by it. Thanks for weighing in and watching! 🥰
Hmmmm, i would rather have an inky chase than ruin my designs with erroneous ink marks. Maybe a flatter liner would prevent that, but i am ok with cleaning my tools once in awhile.

I use sticky grid on the platen so no tape is necessary. And press & seal on the chase. Works fab. Terrific video
great idea! Thanks for sharing!!! 🥰

Just thinking-- why not ink the die Not on the chase. Ink up on a scrap piece of paper? - what are your thoughts? 😊
I thought of that too, but then how to transfer it onto the chase? I may have to revisit and try something different…🤗
I’ve used the technique I mentioned and the ink didn’t get onto the chase. Just a thought. Thanks for responding to me. Warmly- c 😊
