EASY “Faux Glass” Pop-Up Cards! | Prepare to Wow the Recipient! 🤯💌

- Hi Friends! Thanks for stopping by today! I apologize for my voice sounding raspy in the video--not sure what is going on!
I shared a card I made on Facebook and several of you wanted to see how I made it. I found that having my card stock pre-cut will save me time when recording and who really wants to watch us cut and fold card stock anyway? The only portion where I share some scoring is for the pop-up mechanism.
Bear in mind that the pop-up mechanism that measures 2" by 7.5" can be any size you want it to be. I used a piece of 3" by 7.5" in the other two examples I share where the center piece is more triangular in shaped cards. The scoring will be the same--you just want to make sure that the pop-up mechanism is hidden behind your center die cut piece. If you wanted, you can also use a clear piece of acetate to make the pop-up mechanism so that if you used a stamped panel in the back or a piece of patterned paper like I did, you'll be able to see more of that instead of covering it up. I just didn't want to risk it falling off or not being sturdy enough.

I love this idea. I think it could still work with a side fold card design. I absolutely love the prototype & the last card. The acetate made the colors really POP! They are stunning!

You’re so welcome! The die set you’re asking about is from Spellbinders called ‘Typing Class.” Unfortunately, I can’t no longer find it. It was the February large die of the month. You may find it from a reseller, though. It’s pretty cute. I hope you can find it. 🥰

Definitely worth trying! I actually like the orange & green one best, even though they’re not usually my colours. The pink second. I would probably ink blend those white flowers though. The holo taco looks pretty, but something about the white is missing something to my eyes 🤔 Maybe it just needs some sparkly centres? They’re just blending into the card a bit much 🤷♀️ Great card design though - thank you 😊

I have a questin regarding your glue -- is that indeed Elmers glue? and what is the dispenser you have on the bottle? Glue is the bane of my crafting existence. Thanks so much for such a fascinating technique. Mu DIL has just been diagnosed with cancer and I am committed to making multiple cards as she lives 8 hours away and I can no longer drive. I’m so sorry to hear about your DIL. I’ll say a prayer for her. 🙏🏻 The glue I’m using is Elmer’s Glue-All, not the regular glue they sell. This is a stronger formula and it’s very affordable. Love these cards. If you use a pin or pin pen to remove adhesive backing it won’t be so frustrating.

These are great Kathy’s. I do like the last one the best. I don’t quite understand though the purpose of cutting out the circle in the acetate. Is that essential? Yes and do please leave your errors in the video so helpful and keeping it real😊
Sorry I didn’t communicate that part very well in the video. My thinking is that securing the acetate between two pieces of card stock would help the acetate bond more securely. I’m sure you could attach the acetate directly to the pop up mechanism, too. Over time, I just think the adhesive would just dry out and the acetate would eventually fall off. I hope that makes sense. Sorry for rambling! 🤣

Sorry, Annabella! I just created a little rectangle, folded 1/2” on 3 sides. Folded the scored lines and the used a circle punch to create the center to pull the card out and then secured to the back. I hope this helps. Thank you for watching! ♥️

Very intriguing design. I am surprised you use the Elmer's Glue All. Does it really work that well on paper for cardmaking?
I actually love it for card making. It has a stronger formula than just their standard school glue. I just got discouraged when I run out of glue and then see a 4 ounce bottle of popular craft glues being sold for $15…I was just in search of an affordable option. I’ll definitely buy it again. 🥰
