- Will the Catholic Church change its teaching on marriage? On female priesthood?
Join Archbishop Smith for a discussion about how to define, dogma, doctrine and the Magisterium, about whether the Church will change some of its most-discussed moral teachings, the gift of certainty and consistency that the Catholic Church offers, and how all of these matters always come back to the person of Jesus Christ.

I am a Paramedic in Calgary. More importantly I am a practicing Catholic. I work in an area where relativism and secularism runs rampant. I am all about respecting God’s creation, yet there is only ONE truth. The govt especially those who profess to be practicing Catholics really need to start living The Truth, not looking for votes and getting lots of Likes and Followers on Social Media. God defines us, not the world. Thank you Archbishop Richard Smith. I love listening to your wisdom.
Cardinal Wilton Gregory for instance refers to President Biden as a cafeteria Catholic for picking and choosing parts of the faith while ignoring or even contradicting other aspects of his adherence.
@@user-mn9ej5bx6x He should talk,He does the same thing and let Biden take the eucharist knowing he is a public heretic, pushing abortion!
How do you know truths are given by the Church.
@@AlexLightGiver By Scripture and all the councils of the Catholic Church for 2000yrs! In the councils Dogma's are declared infallibly in canons therein!
@@dianneraimondi8382 None of that is true
Escelent, simple, deep and clear. It all comes down to Jesus. Truly God and truly man. His word is the word of God.
Thank you Mons. Smith
This was a very rich talk on the dogma, doctrine and the Magisterium, of the Catholic Church. Thank you, Your Grace, for the insight of our Catholic Faith, and its teachings. God Bless. 🙏🙏
I LOVE HIS ANSWER SPECIALLY ON MARRAIGE! WOW! SO DIRECT AND WITHOUT HESITATION...THAT IS THE FIRMNESS ALL THE BISHOP SHOULD HAVE AND TO OUR POPE WHO BECOME ALIGN WITH THE WORLD..HOW SAD TO HEAR OUR POPE HAS BECOME
Found this Man Holy … we could do with more of this kind of talk … most of us who live and love our Catholic faith … don’t want changes to make our lives easier … it’s why we’re catholics.. . Thank you for this .
May the Lord bless you Archbishop Smith!
The bishop is very holy and sensible, and clearly follows the Holy Spirit
However, one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is fortitude and he needs to pray for that
The reason is that when the local ordinary does not correct, his priest or when the local ordinary himself is clearly outside of Catholic teaching, then out of love his brothers need to correct him because the father that lets his children run wild is no father at all
And that is why we see such horrendous damage in the church because there is a lack of courageous and loving fathers to their children, and it is destroying the church rapidly
So please pray that the gift of fortitude and love falls on the entire ecclesial communion
I grew up in Camden New Jersey the number one crime city in America for many many years and we have a saying, and that is “grow a set”
God bless you Archbishop Fiat❤️
Absolutely splendid answer Your Grace. 😊
Finally some one who gives you the truth directly with out apology. Than You very much Arch Bishop.
Enjoyed🙏🙏🙏
This Bishop is absolutely a true follower of Jesus. Not only that but he is graced by GOD to speak jusst as the Apostles did. May GOD Bless this Bishop for his testimony of The Real Truth. 🙏
Thank you this was such a helpful episode. The ‘Jesus is my compass and I find grounding and peace and meaning and purpose by following that way and why would I give that up to follow the most recent cultural trend’ - I didn’t get that exactly right :) but I think that was the gist - that is very very helpful.
Buy the Cathecism of Pio X.
This Archbishop was great. He said the truth and explained everything clearly. Who is he?
Obedience to the Church is for us all; bishops and lay people. We can pray for change and we are likely to come to accept more willingly what we wanted to change. But we might see change which doesn't conflict, eg women deacons? It may never happen but we can pray for it. And be grateful for the Church as it is.
The apostolic church of Jesus Christ can not and will not change the teachings of God but as Our Lady said at La Salette pointing over the mountains to Italy, " And as for that unfaithful city, how God is going to punish it by humiliation then destruction and woe to those priests who are not holy and can not lead Gods people into holiness.
What is-this Archbishop’s name?
Archbishop Richard Smith of the Archdiocese of Edmonton :)
Why this conversation. Time wasting. NO. It can’t.
@ValsVersion. It has in the past, and it eventually…will.
@@HannahClapham no. It has not on anything significant and not on faith and moral
If the church teaches against abortion, can a practicing Catholic doctor still give counsel to a woman about doing the dirty deed?
He can only counsel her not to proceed with that process.
@@bridgefin Thanks. Interesting. I've been told the opposite from a pious, though seemingly unaware or morally at-variance doctor. Apparently, authoritatively delivered moral instruction would be in order.

@@bridgefin Great start for a homily.
Peter had a revelation in Matthew 16.yet johnthe baptist had a fuller revelation about jesus as the true sacrifice , Peter denied it. Overlooked comparison.
Jesus Christ told His apostles to spread His Church Infallibly to the world. Mt28:18-20 He never sugarcoated His words so as to not offend anyone. His Only One True Apostolic Catholic Church is the pillar and foundation of truth. 1 Tim 3:15
His Doctrine He set in His Church is not to change. He taught we’re to remain in His Doctrine or we don’t have Him. 2 Jn1:9, 2 Thess3:6-16, Rom 16:17 He rebuked the Pharisees and Scribes for making their own versions of His Church and Doctrine, like all other Christian Churches have done. Mt23:1-39, Lk 11:37-54
Marriage as consecrated, either celibate vowed to man in Christ or male female vowed to God, is a keeping in uncertainty of belief of the inseparability and qualitative equality of:
(a) the objective and the subjective; that is, of roles as objective thinking procreation gifts and identity as subjective having faith in meeting need of union,
(b) these roles,
(c) these identities,
in a triple trinitarian keeping in which men are "gods" (John 10:34-38; Ps 82:6).
Grooming with the inducement of marriage is this keeping only of the objective roles is for occult as hidden, incest connected as substitute mate, economic advantage by tax-exemption embezzlements and lower insurance cost by fraud.
the magisterium, the teaching authority and sovereignty given by jesus christ to st. peter and his successors over the church, and the bishops in communion with pope, preceded holy tradition and preceded the new testament itself. jesus christ established his church to fulfill the mission given to it under the guidance and protection of God the Holy Spirit so that it may endure forever and be faithful to the teachings of our Lord God Jesus Christ.
the tragedy in the church today is the failure of the bishops to teach the dogmas of the church to the faithful. it should horrify them that a lot of catholics have a poor understanding or disbelief of the trinity, and the real presence. a lot of confusion could be stopped simply by reciting the proper creeds such as the athanasian creed and the repetition of the dogmas of the faith. furthermore, they should mandate that catholic schools require all students to read the gospels and use the new testament as the basis for teaching in language and the arts and humanities
My Rock is Jesus. You are free to choose yours
Oh, it's those sectarian falsehoods from tim spangler yet again. You know Jesus is our rock for Catholics so you are just being abusive. We depend on Him & it's part & parcel of belief in His giving the Keys of the Kingdom with no more of a contradiction when Jesus originally said it than it is now. You don't have to be persuaded of the same understanding but it's entirely biblical & based on our faith in Jesus😇 with or without the final authority of Tim.

Absolutely not
If the church does not allow for divorce, can a Catholic lawyer serve as a divorce lawyer, making money off of his fellow Catholics who are divorcing each other?
Yes, while not advocating for divorces.
@@bridgefin Thanks. That sounds like a conflict of interest morally and professionally. Firms feed on billable hours.
@@MM22272
You: So build your practice on general law but handle divorces as required.
@@bridgefin That doesn't resolve the conflict of interest.
@@MM22272 Protesting a client who is going through a divorce is not necessarily cooperating with the divorce. The divorce will happen in this culture. If it can't be avoided then there still is a valid need for legal advice and action. Otherwise unjust things will occur regarding alimony, assets, children. Achieving the best solution in God's eyes in the face of un-Godly activity is virtuous. And the lawyer can advocate for an alternative solution all during the process to try to preserve the marriage.
Then the Roman Catholic Church needs to fire the 52-54% of priests who are homosexual.
That old hate-filled, sectarian slur & BS shouldn't be spewed out by any Christian. Secondly , it is not a feeling of attraction That's not the sin. It is the acting on it that is, whether it is towards someone of the same or the opposite sex, so do we only accept applications to the priesthood from the completely asexual? Hate the Sin ; Love the sinner.
@@josephodoherty7864 It appeared in national news papers and Cardinals addressed it. That's why Francis wants it to stop.
Many idiots who believe in the satanic cult of sola scriptura a man made tradition invented by a devil possessed were trying to destroy the Church that Jesus established under the stewardship of Peter but nothing happened to it because Jesus has promised to Peter saying no gates of hell will prevail against it and will remain till Jesus comes back it is heretic protestant churches getting fragmented into countless denominations all contradicting each other all the time surely gates of hell is taking care of them.
Where did you get this ridiculous statistic from?
@@michaelhaywood8262 Published reports, discussed by Cardinal - Archbishops. That's why Pope Francis said that. He knows the numbers are probably over 54%.
So where, for example, does this leave us with, say, the question of celibacy of priests? For the first 1,000 years of the Church (1,000 years, not days), priests, and yes, popes, were often married. The Magisterium then adopted an "Ecclesiastical Law" (not a dogma, not a doctrine) which attempted to deny priests from passing on Church wealth to their sons, who often followed in their fathers' footsteps and became priests. The way to stop money passing from father to son? Make sure father doesn't have any sons. As simple, an uncomplicated a matter, as that.
But, of course, we can "change" Ecclesiastical Law whenever we want to (again, it's not a dogma, not a doctrine). It's this sort of sleight of hand that turns people off.
So, either the Church's "teaching" on celibacy was completely wrong for the first 1,000 years; or it's completely wrong now. Which is it?
Your history is wrong.
Wrong since the C11th AD. The grooming of the church role group to set up a celibacy law in the C11th AD was for economic advantage of the families of the familyist family member groomers of their and others' psychologically and or emotionally vulnerable family members by occult as hidden, incest connected as substitute mate, tax-exemption embezzlements and lower insurance cost by fraud.
This occulting was achieved as hidden behind falsely purporting presuming consecrated celibate marriage vowed to man in Christ is a higher vocation than consecrated male female marriage vowed to God.
to Gerard McGorian, Whose “sleight of hand”? Who were the “people” that it “turns … off”?
Was it groomed, and who by, with an occult as hidden, incest connected as substitute mate, inducement?
What is the only power that withstands extreme tensions caused by this inducement and how are they withstood?
When and why was it first possible to exercise this power worldwide? Was it when the first worldwide national accounts became available at the UNO from 1946 allowing a conclusion from testing these accounts to be acted on in 1964 simultaneously at the UNO Food and Agriculture Organisation and Pope St Paul V1’s Commission on Population?
What caused the incomplete conclusion from acting on these accounts to be completed by Pope Francis in his consecrated celibate marriage on 17 June 2021 in the cases of inversion of role and identity by the Vatican state helper of the family role group of Cardinal Angelo Becciu (convicted on 18 December 2023) and nine others (today eight reported confirmed convicted) embezzlements of his procreation role gift charity donations and Italian Parliament “Zan” anti-homophobia bill unacceptable risk of fraud on his identity?
Is the answer in the statements of Pope Francis on 16 June 2016 and 10 June 2021 and what and how was kept on 17 June 2021 in uncertainty of belief? Was this keeping of the multiplication of economic processes and non-economic progress by what was revealed at Exodus 3:14: “I AM WHO I AM”?
Was this keeping as incomplete at the UK Oxford University Institute of Agricultural Economics in 1964 completed on 25 February 1991 in the roman catholic Archdiocese of Brisbane as confirmed by Pope St John Paul 2’s Council for the Laity on 29 September 1994 and his Council for the Family on 8 December 1995 at TTMHS, 24?
Was a double keeping causing/caused by a third keeping as trinitarian? Was this third keeping in covenant, non-presumed reciprocity? Why and how are men “gods” (John 10:34)?
@@billyhw5492 Wrong? Have you kept in uncertainty of your belief the inseparability and qualitative equality of your history thinking and your having faith feeling?
Disciplines can be changed. Dogmas cannot. Celibacy is a discipline.
For reletivists, there ain't no truth. For atheists, ain't no deity.
The Bible have bern altered 30,000 times and 7 chapters were removed. Even Jesus tells his followers to not take the Bible literally it is not accurate. 🙏🙏🙏
