I can relate to his experience with St. Peter. This past January I reverted to Catholicism. And I one day, out of nowhere, I received this visceral, full body, sense of understanding and compassion for St. Peter, because I committed the same betrayal of Our Lord after I promised it was something I'd never do. I've learned to never say never. Thank you for sharing your story and welcome to the Faith!

That's understandable, Peter was in no way perfect. In fact, after Jesus promised him the keys of the kingdom and said upon this rock I shall build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it, Jesus turned around and called Peter...Satan. In the Greek text, the gates of hell are referring to the gates of Hades which is the land of departed spirits. Christ was not implying there would be no apostasy, because frankly, Paul and the others even said there would be, but he was saying death could not prevail against the kingdom, which is true because Christ overcame death on resurrection morning. In any event, John the Apostle was Peter's Apostolic successor, not Linus or the other bishops of Rome. That was just a made-up story several centuries after the fact. The Pope didn't even attend the council of Nicea, it was all conducted by Constantine.

I am a cradle Catholic who was LDS for 19 years .. but the last few years I was active, I just kept feeling that the plain and precious that was lost was the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist that came with the reformation and the restoration by Joseph Smith. Both seemed to be the actual Great Apostasy by separating God’s people from the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist. Thankfully, the Holy Spirit prompting me continuously about the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist that I had to leave the LDS church and return home to the Catholic Church in March 2022.

And even as confronted with biblical verses that contradict your point, anti-catholics like you would cite another verses form different parts of the bible which do not necessarily support the issue. Your sect insist on the old testaments' Saturday. Jesus said, I am the Lord of the sabbath.
I'll give you the best example:
"While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, "Take and eat; this is my body." Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you."

I bet you like all other sects, will cite different verses just to contradict what the Lord had said.
Remember Tony, not everyone who call Him Lord will be saved. He categorically declared that "If you do not eat His flesh, you have no ;life in Him.

And then I became an Elder and babetised my youngest brother and you could see the look on my face in the pictures that day I felt horrible for doing that. And I never went to church for 50 years until both my parents passed and I about died of Covid but the great thing is I married a Catholic and 1 day I started going to Mass with my mother in Law and my wife and there was such a feeling you new you are there to worship Jesus and are Lady and even in the church you feel that at Mass. The Mormon church there was to many things that bothered me like baptize the dead you wake threw a Mormon church and the only thing that you see that you worshiping Jesus Christ is the name on the front of the church there is never a picture of Jesus or any just the name on the front of the church. This becoming a Catholic is the greatest thing I have ever done and I am 70 years old know. The most devastating thing about the Mormon church is the day my only child was married in the Mormon church and me and my wife could not attend her services and I new that day the Mormon church was so wrong. The Mormon church to me growing up it was like a local recreation place because all your friends were there and the Boy Scouts was a big deal but it is different know I think than when I grow up and I was raised in Salt Lake , Utah.

@joshgardner5887 regarding the statement that "The place to be on Sunday...and receiving the eucharist"; is opposed to the Truth. No person has the power to transform the bread into the Holy Eucharist is a Catholic Priest. The authority Christ granted Peter by giving him the keys to Heaven and His Church are solid and everlasting. By virtue of laying on of hands using the authority by an ordained Bishop, ( the rank of the Apostles of old), can a man be ordained a priest. You cannot go to some school, get a degree in divinity and magically have the authority to command the bread and wine (not grape juice) to become the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Christ. What you receive in your meetings is not the Eucharist. Sorry, but it's only symbolic. "Unless you eat My Body and drink My Blood, you have no life in you" words of Christ to the multitudes. Many left Him, but He never called them back telling them not to take His words literally, that it was only symbolic. Your wafers and grape juice remain wafers and grape juice. Lifeless.

Show Low...Nutrioso, Eagar, Alpine...as an Arizona native of 70+ years, it is fun to make this connection with you. I live in Phoenix Metro and had many Mormon friends in high school. They set up LDS lessons for me. My mother, very loving and wise, insisted that they teach the lessons at home where she could be a part of them. Her gentle questions in those meetings gave me pause. Over the summer, I read a well-known book on the history of the LDS church, and I lost my interest/faith in the Mormon faith. College? I settled into agnosticism, just short of atheism. Basically...disinterested in God and faith. Forty years later, and in a surprising encounter, I met God...then Christ...then Christians. This many years later, I thank God for my Christian faith, a grateful Catholic. What a blessing to hear your faith journey!!! God bless you and your family today and in the years to come.

01:38:30 🤝 Sean Noble, a Conservative Republican, finds alignment with Catholic social teaching principles like subsidiarity, solidarity, human dignity, and the common good, which are universally agreeable across the political spectrum.
01:44:04 🌎 Addressing immigration, Sean emphasizes the need to reform the immigration process to balance compassion with security, acknowledging that both extremes, open borders and zero immigration, have made it difficult to reach a compromise.
01:50:29 🌈 Sean Noble encourages those who may be questioning or leaving the Mormon Church to be open to the pursuit of truth and the beauty of the journey ahead in finding their path.

As a recovering Mormon, after 64 years of indoctrination in the Mormon theology and culture, I find that is no easy task. I'm in RCIA currently and have found much that is wonderful and easy to embrace, but I would be dishonest if I didn't say that my past learning makes a few things challenging, transubstantiation being one of them. Fortunately, I no longer feel alone on this journey, and have good support to help me get through it.

Very interesting story of your journey to put the icing on the cake. Have you ever experienced the traditional Latin mass? I went from a Novus ordo Catholic to becoming a traditional Catholic and I found it extremely rewarding seeing that the Novus ordo unfortunately doesn’t have the same beauty and strength if I could put it simply that way, that’s the traditional Latin mass which has been around for more than 1500 years while the Novus ordo is only been around for the last 60 years. Just a thought I don’t wanna rock anybody’s boat but for me to tell him I find it extremely rewarding. God bless.

    • @TyroneBeiron
      @TyroneBeiron 8 месяцев назад +5

‘Traditionalist’ rhetoric is not helpful. There is no evidence for a Latin sacramentary or rite as we know as the Tridentine form being earlier than 300-400s, and more likely that local apostolic churches in union with the Roman Church had their Eucharistic liturgies in their vernacular which later were preserved in the various rites from the Greek, and this includes the Latin and later on the Gallican rite and so on. But the specifics of the Eucharistic liturgy has always been true to their respective apostolic origins. We have evidence of these sacramentaries and their feasts down to the present, among the Catholic rites, and also among the Orthodox, where there is no doubt about the historicity of their usage. This does not mean that the Latin Church never changed the expression of its liturgy or that the Eucharistic canons of one rite is historically ‘superior’: all authentic Eucharistic liturgy is firstly Christ’s own offering to the Father, not one or another of us doing what only He alone does. So to insinuate that the Latin Rite in the vernacular is any less substantial in any form is judging it from its external expression and elements. True, I agree that the Latin Rite in the traditional form is edifying, beautiful, rich, and draws one into the mystery of the Eucharist which the expression of the vernacular seems ‘pedestrian’ but I would not recommend to any Catholic to subscribe to a view of the Rite as an ideological preference, whereas as a preference of sorts is consistent with the Catholic view of the validity of all apostolic rites within its unity of faith maintained by the bishops in full communion with the bishop of Rome. 😊

@@TyroneBeiron if you’re referring to the Novus ordo, which I understand you are if it’s a translation from the traditional mass, it definitely isn’t and for the last 60 years they’ve been playing havoc with the mass the late Michael Davies explains it extremely well if you read his books, I still pray for the pope you still will get my prayers but the way the church is being run. Unfortunately it’s on the rocks almost we’ve had ours problems in the past, so nothing is new under the sun but it’s coming were we may have female priests that is in a nova Sordo, not in the traditional mass, but a Novus auto and what unfortunately, Pope Francis is stipulating is not Catholic dogma call the same. you take care I know my history I know there’s been from the very early time. @@tony1685 You think Catholics don’t love Jesus? You can’t have met many. Ever seen a nun or a monk devoting their entire lives to Jesus? Priests giving up families so that they can invest everything in Christ’s church? Catholics spending hours praying in front of the tabernacle every day. Going to church everyday to receive Jesus like he commanded. Starting hospitals so that they can love people like Jesus loved.
      Catholics adore Jesus.

@@ModernLady i was catholic 35 yrs and of course there are some who do. problem is, the 'church' doesn't teach nor allow it.
there are many, many catholics who love Christ , but sadly don't follow Scripture. note what John 14:15 clearly states.
now realize that their 'church' can't have this. for example:
Ex 20:4-6, they still make and bow to idols, statues and body parts.
Ex 20:8-11, they are a day late. the Lord's day is the 7th day Sabbath.
God doesn't want sacrifice, He simply wants our obedience to His Word of Truth - John 17:17
catholicism doesn't want such - it's of Satan, not of God.
i do hope this is making sense to you Ma'am.

For those watching who don’t know, St Peter’s Basilica was built on top of an acropolis, aka graveyard, and the altar was purposely placed directly above Peter’s grave. When St Peter’s was rebuilt, the new altar was situated, again, in the same spot, but the grave of Peter was rediscovered in the 1950’s during excavations right where tradition had said it was. Really amazing.
Our family did the scavi tour in 2010; just amazing.

St Peter never went to Rome. He was a Christian n died as a Christian not catholic His bones were never found in Rome.
No actual proof tht the existing bones of Peter in the vatican are tht of Peter. It's a lie. Don't believe me? The immaculate conception is also a lie. Don't believe me? Show me proof tht Mary was conceived sinless. No man has this proof n bible says ALL HAVE SINNED. So get the proof. N when U give up, U will know tht the imm conception is really a lie. No offence to anyone. I need the proof.
The assumption of Mary is also a lie. When Mary died , the RCC was not even around. She would hv died before the apostles died. So what evidence is there tht Mary was assumed into heaven. None. Rev 12 is not Mary. The bible footnote says otherwise. If rev 12 is Mary what is the dragon doing there?
It's all a false ungodly church
