this turned out so cool! I’m a crocheter for 3 probably almost 4 years now and only tried knitting a couple times and had a breakdown each time lol. Although I have tried to start practicing it again and I’m doing pretty well :D
I'm 13 and I've been knitting since I was 9 and I'm knitting my first actual clothing because I usually make assesories and this is impressive because I think I'm too scared to try things out of my comfort zone but its interesting to see people that have never knitted they don't have a comfort zone yet so they can achieve many impressive things
You can do it!
@annadoll4819 thank you I'm 14 now and I'm knitting my first jumper for winter and I've knitted quite a few clothing since then !
@@madisonleaming9508 I'm so glad to see that you stuck with it and tried things out of your comfort zone! Keep growing and learning!
@@madisonleaming9508 yesss you go girl. It's so great. I've been crocheting since I was 11 and made my first piece of clothing when I was 15. Wishing you the best x ❤
For your very first knit project, you did a really good job. It looks way better than my first project.
Your sweater turned out beautiful! I used to know how to knit but I’ve forgotten and you’ve totally inspired me to learn how to again!
I am so impressed!! It turned out so neat and even! I'm a knitter who recently started to crochet a bit and I feel like both is so fun and satisfying in their own ways
Well done❣️ You did so well on a 1st knitting project. It looks fabulous❣️🥰🥰
Love it! You did so good for your first one!
Love watching your videos. You did great. I would always suggest everyone learn how to knit on straight needles. It was already frustrating enough for me when I learned and then to have to learn on circular would have pissed me off. You did great!!
Thank you so much 🥹 I wish I started on straight needles 😅
I’m obsessed with your channel!! Thanks for sharing your craft 🤍
twisted rib is very very well done. you are doing great. don't worry about little mistakes because it just a way to learn and it is not always too noticeable and later you can learn how to fix it when it happens. either way your doing great, try not to overthink and overwhelm yourself and just keep going. keep experimenting, don't be afraid to frog/ rip back when necessary 👍👍👍👍👍🎉🎉
I’ve finally gotten the hang of knitting after multiple failed attempts! I’ve been crocheting for years but the number of live stitches on knitting needles always intimidated me. And the different types of needles (straight, circular, dpns) were also confusing
IMO if you had tight tension when you first started crocheting I would recommend the slippery aluminum needles. Wooden or non-slip needles did NOT work for me lol. I felt like I had to peel every stitch off of the needle, which just made me more tense and knit tighter
Wow it looks so good! I crochet and I've only tried knitting once and it was so confusing lol I'd love to try again someday
I started off knitting but went into crochet. Didn’t get very far with knitting but this makes me want to get back into it.
You did an amazing job. I have tried several times and give up. It’s beautiful
To stop the wires from moving around and having it In a circle. You can boil them In hot water and it well go completely straight after. Your welcome 😊
I love how this turned out! Mistakes make it so unique so I even love that part of this! When I started knitting after crocheting for like 5 years I had to (and still do) use continental knitting, my hands don’t understand the throw method at all lol
I’ve been a knitter for years using English method and I tried to learn to crochet and I kept messing up bc I wanted to hold the yarn in my right hand and I kept getting it tangled lol
You did really well for your first time
Don't tempt me YOU DID SO WELL!!
Omg i just learned to knit today! Been crocheting for 12 years.
congrats
I have that gudetama! I love them!❤
🤣I tired knitting but gave up cause it after learning how to cast on things went down hill from their 😂but THISSSSSS OMGGGGG 😂I wanna learn how to knit again
This first few minutes were literally me when I learned a couple weeks ago lolololol
You have to have a long tail so when you cast one with the main strand you then use the tail to do a cast on too then take main loop over the that one off the kneedles then cintinidoing that till you have the ample you kneed
That’s amazing! I tried to learn how to knit.. once.. but I gave up 😆 I’ll stick to crochet 🧶
It took me 5 separate attempts across a few months before the last attempt finally clicked and i got the hang of it. Keep trying! It is really nice to know how to do both.
same it took me so many times but I know how to do it know
Try a long tail cast on method. I used to have that problem until i tried a long tail cast on.
The easiest way to get stitches from one set to the other is to knit them onto the other set.
I personally love metal needles 😅 (when you’re the 1%)
Love the video! Where do you get your glasses from? They’re so cute
The stitches were getting far apart on the first row because of the type of cast on, it’s not the best but great for beginners besides that one row
It's really amazing!!. What's the name of the stitch you did?. I'm making my first project and it's a cardigan for my little sister and my stockinette (?) stitch it's kinda weird?. It opens up a bit?. It's fine but I really liked the one you made!.
Hope you don't mind me answering ☺️
The stitch she used is also stockinette/stocking stitch. You said yours opens up a bit, I think it might be because you have a looser tension than hers. You can probably fix it by using a smaller needle, or just knit tighter :)
@@JaneWirawan thank you!!. Do you know if there's a difference between continental knitting and the throw method in the end result?.
@@malujan for me continental makes the tension a bit tighter, but it's actually different for every person. It also depends on how you tension the working yarn.
@@JaneWirawan again, thank you!!. I crochet for some time and now I'm trying knitting and is a whole new world!. Thank you for taking the time to answer me.
@@malujan my pleasure :) I like talking about knitting with other people, since I don't have anyone around me with the same interest I always go online to find knit/crochet friends :D
Turned out gorgeous! When I try and knit my yarn keeps getting farther apart too like how yours did in the beginning. I’m not sure how to fix that 😬
i find that doing the long tail cast on, that doesnt happen to me, but when i do regular cast on like hayhay the needles keep getting further apart, i think its a tension thing?
@@gloomscroller yeah I think it’s both as well. As I got more experience in knitting and a more consistent tension, that kind of thing stops happening.
Its because (of what is see in the video) she's pulling the stitches thight by pulling the needles apart, but you should pull the yarn that goes to the yarn ball to get them thighter instead
Good job though!
Enjoyed watching your struggles as a crocheter trying to learn to knit, and how well you're doing! I'm a longtime crocheter as well, hoping to try my hand at knitting, so your video is very validating for me. Just PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE watch your audio levels! When you're talking it's very very quiet, so I have to turn up the volume, then the music comes in during B-roll and suddenly it's blasting loud ---- imagine if I were wearing headphones! Please adjust your volume levels so you don't keep making the mistake of just about every RUclipsr who seems to not realize that AUDIO BALANCE is key. (My husband is a professional videographer and I do video work as well -- it's not that hard to adjust the audio levels. Easy as pie in DaVinci Resolve, if you're using that.) Otherwise, really enlightening watching your journey as a beginning knitter coming from crochet. Your sweater is looking great!
I've tried several times, idk, I'm just a crochet person😪 knitting looks cool but it's hard for me still.
Bravo!!! I admit I've never knit clothing, apart from hats. I prefer making blankets. It is also so BIZARRE for me to see people use continental knitting. I'm a throw knitter myself. Learned from my stepmother and Stepgrandma. I adore making blankets and hats the most
I noticed you were wearing a lobos sweater, are you from NM? I’ve never seen anyone on RUclips from NM before, if you got it while thrifting or something that’s so cool too I never see lobo stuff in other states.
No I’m not 😭 i thrifted it!
Metal needles are easier to use than Bamboo or wooden needles.
My sister told me that you look like the blonde girl from "spiderman into the spider verse"😂 you know spiderwoman😂
What videos did you watch to learn??
First time casting on is wrong ... I was sat here like noooooo
My sister told me that you look like the blonde girl from "spiderman into the spider verse" you know spiderwoman
Your name isn't Hayley??!?
I hate knitting lol
