Another band... was _TRAPT_ It was only 6-8 people and it got broken up by security within the span of the song (only to re-start and be broken up again). I will forever live with the shame that my first moshpit was during a TRAPT set.
It makes zero fucken sense, but Radiohead OK computer tour in Wellington NZ was the most intense (not the biggest, but definitely the scariest), somebody had an epileptic fit and collapsed and then some neo nazi dude just single handedly cleared the crowd so she could be picked up. It was pure crush for the whole fucken show. Never experienced anything like it at a metal gig.

dude as a metalhead and a dubstep fan, I can tell you there is a ton of respect for metal in the dubstep community, one of the reasons being because they both have a simple, brutal climax where all instruments, or layers in dubstep, are playing in sync. its very cool seeing the 2 groups interacting and putting it together in the comments section, and id recommend checking out artists who fuse them like sullivan king and phaseone.

I was at lost Lands this year and I definitely saw bigger most pits and brutal ones at warped tour than any edm festival. They’re all there to have a good time and aren’t swinging arms around. If anything just group hugging and pushing that’s about it.

It was maybe 5 meters in diameter. I had never been so disappointed in my life. If seen bigger mosh pits in school bathrooms!!!
Idk dubstep pits arent very brutal by any sense of the word, but the pits during this set are an awful representation of what they actually are like. Shaq brings out the normie crowd anywhere he goes and i was seeing pits out the ass on the other stage that had heavier and more established artists playing that day

Dubstep shows actually get some pretty gnarly pits. Theres a good amount of DJ's that are heavily influenced by metalcore, deathcore and djent like Excision, Phaseone, and a few others. Phaseone has done a bunch songs featuring Shane from Silverstein, Craig Mabbit, Spencer from Periphery, mebers of Thy art is murder and members of Northlane.

Hard edm stuff and especially stuff like Drumstep get pretty full on mosh pits. Trap shows too can be wild. Probably not gonna beat something like you’d see at Wacken but people will throw down for sure. I still remember seeing I think excision at some festival and the crowd was kinda tame and we were just standing near the back and I guess he didn’t like it’s so he started a looping “build up” in the middle of the song and then was like “IM NOT GONNA GIVE YOU THE DROP TILL I SEE A FUCKING MOSHPIT FRONT AND CENTRE”. I immediately start shoving my way in with my buddy and then we realized there was just a see of leather denim and white tank tops coming in from every direction lol. I got air time on the bass drop
Love the acknowledgement of how everyone was just having fun. I also appreciate how humble Shaq was after the fact, thanking his fans for a fun time and wasn't like "IDC was anyone says, we had the biggest mosh pit of all time!"
Mosh pits are a part of dubstep culture too. I went to see Space Laces with a friend as my first EDM show ever and there was a whole ass wall of death. I wasn’t ready and I was shook.

where i come from the older generation taught us how to mosh in a hard but responsible manner.Stay in the pit, dont mosh into ppl that dont want to mosh. keep your arms close to your body if possible, this reduces the risk of hurting yourself or others. if someone falls, either pull them back to their feet or try to shield them from incoming ppl that arent aware. always try to get a sturdy and deep stance so that you dont lose your footing as easy and knock ppl of their feet with the shoulders, thats how you flatline ppl without injuries
unlike metal shows where you get depressed edge lords taking their parental issues out on eachother, youre asking a crowed of drug addicts where 80% of the people are under the influence of some sort of drug and alcohol to mosh, not gonna work lol

As a much more devotee to metal, Lost Lands this year was my first experience not only at a music festival of any sort, but a gathering of 40k+ people due to my anxiety. Shaq performed the day the girlfriend and I left, but I didn't know he was supposed to be there, otherwise we probably would have went to that stage. He's pretty fucking talented, not gonna lie. Svdden Death/Void is fucking killer though -- He'd probably be closer to what you'd listen to, Nik. Darker vibes and the sort. You have to be 18+ to get into Lost Lands, so no kiddos, but that's probably for the best. Some of the crowds went crazier than this, but they have about 4 or 5 stages going at once. The best part about it were that most people were genuinely pretty fucking cool. Even with my shit anxiety, I said fuck it and literally wore extremely tight, bright, and short, shorts on my last day there. 🤣 Also, iPrevail have collabed with a few of the artists there, so that's pretty cool. Sullivan King is fucking intense though. Awesome vocals with his own, and other artist's music.

We left a bar after having a couple drinks and were walking around when we came across a club.We went in and people were dancing and having fun. So we all went into the center of the dance floor and started moshing. For some mysterious reason we were asked to leave immediately.

Houston Raceway, Lalapalooza, early 90s, liquid acid and mushrooms, 100+ degrees, a line of guys spraying down the crowd with fire hoses to help prevent heatstroke that was taking people out, by late afternoon, the mosh pit area was a 300' radius and had turned into a knee deep moshing mud pit. Little guys were getting trampled into the mud. Moshers were so muddy, they had to exit a specific way past the med tent that was full of mud covered trampled and moshed moshers.
you're gravely mistaken if you think metal is the only moshing genre. Moshing has been a part of dubstep (as we know it) culture since its inception, around 2008. Trust me, there are some gnarly pits in there. A lot of genres have them too.

When Korn opened with Blind at Woodstock’99 I was dumbfounded with what I was looking at. I was 17 years old so I wasn’t allowed to go, but my friend and I paid to watch it OnDemand for $100 and to this day is the biggest MP I’ve ever seen.
By the name of the video I kind of expected Shaq to be in the pit, which would be awesome to watch. Alas, it was not the case. I personally think that The Browning would make a great bridge between these two genres and these types of events.

Houston Raceway, Lalapalooza, early 90s, liquid acid and mushrooms, 100+ degrees, a line of guys spraying down the crowd with fire hoses to help prevent heatstroke that was taking people out, by late afternoon, the mosh pit area was a 300' radius and had turned into a knee deep moshing mud pit. Little guys were getting trampled into the mud. Moshers were so muddy, they had to exit a specific way past the med tent that was full of mud covered trampled and moshed moshers.

you're gravely mistaken if you think metal is the only moshing genre. Moshing has been a part of dubstep (as we know it) culture since its inception, around 2008. Trust me, there are some gnarly pits in there. A lot of genres have them too.

You seem to display an ignorance of dubstep culture if you think it started and ended with Skrillex and people discovered Korn through him. Everyone who's 25-35 was a fan of Korn when they got big. Everyone knew Korn in 2005. Most dubstep people are metalhead at heart, not the other way around. Dubstep is relatively niche compared to metal. We metalheads love to believe we're mommy's special little outcasts, but truth is we're one of the biggest subcultures out there.
