Hi! So, uh... Yeah, I myself have actually stumbled upon those uh... let's call them 'hardcore' images, on Spotify when I'm trying to just listen to my music, and it gets annoying. I'll just try to search for an artist or something, and sometimes even when I'm at school because I listen to music when I do some schoolwork, then I just feel like I have to just throw my phone out the window because of those images that decide to pop up. Luckily, I haven't run into too many instances, but there were a few where I was just shocked that Spotify somehow "allows" this. 😭
Spotify also removed the explicit tag from some random songs idk I guess they got a new algorithm, but I noticed that specifically The Fool by Fleshgod Apocalypse and Hide the Knives by Man Must Die like it's weird, but not too big of a problem
Yeah, I've noticed a lot of songs the should be tagged aren't, and some that are tagged shouldn't be. Case in point: Every single song on Blackgrass Gospel's self titled album is tagged as explicit, but there are a couple that don't contain particularly objectionable content. But not a single track from The Architect of Extinction by Ingested is tagged.
What gets me is the Nirvana album art for Nevermind is still up. Personally I never understood the social "repulsiveness" of sex and nudity here in the states. I remember being in Budapest when I was young and we got a flyer put on our windshield advertising a "crazy pyro show" that showed a woman with flaming nipple tassels twirling a fire staff. And it was on everyone's windshield for many blocks. Art is art, probably gonna have western karens going after famous sculptures and statues because they're naked.
I think Spotify in the past has deemed art of violence and all this stuff not a violation, but actual photography is. Cannibal corpse covers are still up, but Carcass had to censor their first two album covers
Quite some years ago, there used to be at least one COMPLETE ALBUM with something like 25 tracks on Spotify with just the sound recordings from different porn videos. PornHub, but for your ears. Like literally straight up, hardcore, cheek-clapping, loud howling and moaning, porn recordings. There's a lot of wierd shit out there
These nsfw podcasts are so incredibly annoying. You don't even have to type a periodt or a comma in the search bar to get instant access to this stuff. All of my friends (myself included) get this stuff recommended even though the song we searched for isn't anything graphic. I absolutely hate it and I hope that Spotify is going to fix this as soon as possible. I don't want my little sister to listen to some extremely graphic nsfw audio right after listening to baby shark!
Well, to be fair there is a Spotify kids. Maybe don't let a child use an app with "adult content" so called. Basically what I'm trying to say is don't censor mature or adult targeted material just because someone was irresponsible and let their kid on a site unsupervised.
Me with my mp3/flac library I've been building since I was 10.... I've never really understood why streaming services took off like they did. The iPod generation was fine. We had our music, it wasn't overly compressed to stream resulting in crap quality, playlists were ours and content could only be deleted by you... Decent music apps can still do local content and lossless at that. Sure, it requires more effort to download and transfer stuff and you have space limits, but it takes away all the streaming bullshit. So you go ahead and have your drama the next time some artist gets cancelled from Spotify or your kid finds stuff on there that shouldn't be there. I'll just sit in my corner with my little library I don't have to pay monthly for the privalege of it being altered without my consent. "This song is unavailable" Lol not on my phone it ain't.
Always wondered how slam bands could get away with theit stuff on Spotify, but at least that's hard to find. I've also been recommended some noise stuff with nudity or just uncomfortable artwork. The fact that you can find actual nudity and p0rn that easily is pretty insane, though
Spotify’s level of stupidity sounds very familiar with a certain place that I know. I don’t want to go into details because I don’t want to get in trouble. But I feel the same way.
I don't understand why Nik as an artist doesn't promote Tidal more to his audience. Tidal pays the highest amount per stream and if you get the hifi+ or whatever it is called. 10% of your monthly fee goes directly to your most listned artist. This way I can influence which artist gets my money instead of artists I don't care about, getting almost all the money from my subscription.
