This time we're doing a cam swap on our 2012 Caprice PPV to give it a big horsepower bump. A DOD-delete is also necessary for reliability, and a set of long tube stainless headers are installed to complete the transformation into a four-door tire-frying beast!

sure it is the best kept secret for GM, it has great power and great price and great ride also, a lot of space for the passengers and everything is perfect in this car
Just a tip to ls guys if you fully tighten timing cover down before the crank pulley is seated properly chances are you will leak oil from crank pulley seal on timing cover
I own a Holden Calais, the trim level a step down from the top spec Caprice in australia (excluding the statesman). Great car.

I have a caprice 2011, I had to have the DOD/AFM crap deleted and replaced the camshaft, as well as lifters.

Very cool engine and car if you can get a detectives car even better.
Crane makes a nice cam with specs of 216-224 with 555 lift and 115 LSA.

Planning on putting up a vid on replacing the stock manifolds/cats with the long tube headers? As well as what you did for that stock oil cooler? Like to see that as well. Unless you did and I missed it somewhere....
Needs the Holden Caprice luxury interior and the grille. These were sold as luxury vehicles here in Australia, similar to a Cadillac in intent.
@@MuletownSpeedandDyno Xtreme Xperience uses the SS for lead and ride along cars. Guests have to see nice leather, not cop car cloth! Great program if you ever get the chance. you might consider BC coilovers and Cadillac brakes with two piece rotors for an Excellent track car!
Ss Body kit period
This car was the Australian Luxury car, equivalent to a Lincoln Town Car, Large Cadillac, Large Mercedes or 7 Series BMW. (but it's less than 1/2 the price of the European cars and more reliable). It's the stretched RWD Luxury sedan you buy when you want to say "I have arrived" I Have "Money". it came in several trim levels, Statesman, Caprice and Grange (Grange being the most luxurious sports version). it always had the large rear seat area and large trunk. the interior was simply modified for Police Use in the USA. So with the Australian $$ being so cheap compared to the US dollar, you can import the Luxury interiors from wrecked cars and fit them. There are also thousands of them in Saudi Arabia as the Holden Commodore's and the Statesman's were built LHD and exported there as Chevy's since 1999.

Your power braked to do that burn out, right? I have the same mods and just added stall converter, I'm not totally sold on the converter, think I would've been better off putting that$$ towards super charger

Can i do the valley cover to delete the DOD without changing the valve springs? Or is one needed for the other? Doing more wrenching on my cars and this is something i want to do to my new ppv thanks and video was great
You need to do the valley cover and lifters together. I changed the valvesprings because of the upgraded cam.
If I follow your build list do yk anybody who can tune it for me if I add a 2015 Camaro diff n swap the converter?

Stock engines are really detuned a lot. And DOD is shit. Glad you deleted it. Oil pressure problems are common.

Daniel O. Btr dod delete kit and depending if you want a bigger stall you can get a bigger cam but for my caprice I got a btr stage one can and staying with a stock stall you should join the fb groups of g8 and caprices and those guys can help you a lot

Walbro 450 pump on 93. Stock rockers and pushrods.

Its a LS2 block with different heads. Thats why its called a L77

Yup. Thats how good those LS3 heads are. And they come factory on these cars as well as G8s and some trucks and vans.
@@MuletownSpeedandDyno thanks for for reply. I'm seriously considering picking one of these up for a daily. Did you change your converter? Assuming the oil cooler had to go to fit the headers, what did you plug the oil lines with or did you just connect them to each other? Ant clue what the 0-60 would be now with this hp, but a heavy car and a 6l80e?
Stock converter but it did want something looser. Not required though. The oil cooler did get pitched for the headers. I'm pretty sure I used the stock oil pan adapter block off that comes on non-oil cooler cars.
No idea on the 0-60. It was still a heavy car but it booked once it got up in the rpms.
@@MuletownSpeedandDyno converter is a massive hassle for me and once I pull the Trans I'm gonna wanna it freshened up and a shift kit thrown in so really rather avoid it. Was it streetable for a daily with the stock converter in it and would I take down my buddies '20 Camaro SS with the 10 speed auto?

Not hard because they make a manual SS and it uses the same engine the gearbox out of that will fit there are a quite a few here in Australia that people have converted to manual

As someone who doesn't own a PPV, why do people always remove the Displacement On Demand function from it?
The DOD system is prone to failure and can ruin the engine. The special lifters like to fall apart. The first episode of my Daily Driver series shows a DOD lifter that came apart. Thanks for watching.

ELMO WILSON the caprice and statesman’s were sold as luxury cars in aus and surrounding countries. But gm didn’t really like Holden I don’t think the could of sold so many good Holden in the us in large numbers but never did

It is not made to be a cop car it is made in Australia to be the Politicians and Senators cars. IN Australia it has much better equipped and is a luxury car. The cheap nasty US version is the poor version for the US cop market. Not the same beast at al as the original. The cheap nasty down market Yanky version if you like. Same V8 though.

You lost me at 1:23 stating the wrong engine. The caprice ppv did NOT have LS motors. They were a L77 6.0. Basically the truck motors and capable of E85 fuel. Not a huge difference but it is not a LS motor. If you’re going to make RUclips videos and brag about it learn what it is and start calling it the correct name.
It’s a mix of other ls motors so it is still an ls. He isn’t wrong. I own two of these. In the future how about not being a fucking dick head to a guy who’s putting out content that actually helps others. I don’t understand why people like you get on social media and be rude as fuck when you know damn well you wouldn’t talk like that to this man in person. Brush up on your social skills

So u said bais the truck motor but the truck motor had a cast iron block.any one that came in the cars had a aluminum black.so it is really a LS especially al the upgrades he did
