    Great video, very educational, the DOD is the only thing holding me back from going for a last generation Caprice. Is that Dexcool coolant I see, ouch, I know this does wonders to the older vortecs plastic intake gaskets when it gets old and acidic(and yes those gaskets go with the green stuff eventually too). Flushed that all out and went back to mean green , never will look back.

    If you’re going to replace the harmonic balancer on that vehicle, you should pin that crank pulley
    Summit sells a pretty good kit gives you the drillbit and everything and the guide
    I had the same problem and 98 Corvette. Great investment gives you peace of mind.

  • @bullitt773

    Awesome presentation. So what is it that actually makes this engine "do DOD"? The kit replaces parts, but I wonder what the component is that actually shuts off half the cylinders. Seems like it should be something computer/electronic.

    • @junkbucketgarage
      @junkbucketgarage  Год назад

      it actually has solenoids under the center cover that that shut of oil pressure to special lifters and collapses them. when the computer wants the car to be a v8 again it sends back to those lifters and they pump back up. problem is they fail and stay collapsed causing all sorts of problems. thanks for watching 👍

    So for the wires going to the auxiliary battery, are they just snip and dip lol, meaning that this wires no longer have a purpose? I'm just cutting them and throwing away. I don't play on going as far as u cause I'm 71 lol need some creature comforts

      @@junkbucketgarage seems like a shame, like they could be used for something! There's 100's of wires, connection blocks, either net cables shit I've never seen before, imagine how much that would cost if u ever needed that many connections! I can't afford an oil pressure gage, not that that has anything to do with anything but I think u get my point
