come laugh at me while i to do something productive, ish. deleting the faulty DOD system on this ls based l77 is a must. junk bucket needs a new highway cruiser.
Great video, very educational, the DOD is the only thing holding me back from going for a last generation Caprice. Is that Dexcool coolant I see, ouch, I know this does wonders to the older vortecs plastic intake gaskets when it gets old and acidic(and yes those gaskets go with the green stuff eventually too). Flushed that all out and went back to mean green , never will look back.
If you’re going to replace the harmonic balancer on that vehicle, you should pin that crank pulley Summit sells a pretty good kit gives you the drillbit and everything and the guide I had the same problem and 98 Corvette. Great investment gives you peace of mind.
I just bought a 2013 caprice from the police department it's tappin with only 62,000 miles on it. So I'm just waiting on the guy that did my deleted on my truck to do this caprice
Did you run into problems with torquing the passenger side cylinder head? I'm in the middle of doing this same job on my Caprice. I Didnt take off the exhaust manifolds. Seems to me that on passenger side its gonna be tight...
Awesome presentation. So what is it that actually makes this engine "do DOD"? The kit replaces parts, but I wonder what the component is that actually shuts off half the cylinders. Seems like it should be something computer/electronic.
it actually has solenoids under the center cover that that shut of oil pressure to special lifters and collapses them. when the computer wants the car to be a v8 again it sends back to those lifters and they pump back up. problem is they fail and stay collapsed causing all sorts of problems. thanks for watching 👍
So for the wires going to the auxiliary battery, are they just snip and dip lol, meaning that this wires no longer have a purpose? I'm just cutting them and throwing away. I don't play on going as far as u cause I'm 71 lol need some creature comforts
@@junkbucketgarage seems like a shame, like they could be used for something! There's 100's of wires, connection blocks, either net cables shit I've never seen before, imagine how much that would cost if u ever needed that many connections! I can't afford an oil pressure gage, not that that has anything to do with anything but I think u get my point
You definitely just gave me the confidence to do my Dod delete on my ‘13 caprice. Just ordered the right tools to do the job.
glad to hear it. good luck and let me know how it goes. 😁

That would have to be the world's best built Chev, just a shame with those LS engines.
Thanks for a great video.

All the critters seem upset. Great video though! In need of a DOD delete myself
Very educational. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!

it’s unfortunate that this happens. their great engines.
Them goats in the background is aggravating as hell
Which shop did you use for tuning / digital DOD delete? Gotta ‘13 Caprice coming from Omaha I’m in Cali your computer guy seems to have it down now.
i used a private person who had all the software. he used to run a diesel shop
Did you run into problems with torquing the passenger side cylinder head? I'm in the middle of doing this same job on my Caprice. I Didnt take off the exhaust manifolds. Seems to me that on passenger side its gonna be tight...
it was tight. but i used a short socket and it cleared the valve springs and worked. good luck!
Nice video! Subbed!
Awesome, thank you!

U are the best
thanks buddy. i’m glad you enjoy the videos. that motivates me to keep posting 👍
Goos job, buddy!
Good Job, sorry!
thanks man. and thanks for watching
Been looking into these, and I also live in California will the dod delete mess with having to smog?
it should still pass smog. everything is there.
i don’t believe it’ll be an issue. but i’m gonna find out. lol
They won't do it at the shops because it requires a tune which is dumb
Just like that u got me wanting 1....🤞
fun car. and a great daily driver as well. thanks for watching
Chicken stole the show....lol
that’s my writing team lol.

@@junkbucketgarage Awesome response, thank you sir!
Hey I can't find my transmission dipstick on my 2012 PPV, please help?
these do not have a dipstick for the trans. i’ve seen some people have installed one but haven’t looked into it myself
@@junkbucketgarage man i was stressed out looking for it 😂
So in theory I can extend the pigtail and get it out of view and pass the test and get my tags?! 🤔
that’s actually a good point. should be theoretically possible 😃

they only ran the extra “cop stuff” they don’t affect the normal operation

Yeah, we’re all about desperate enough to strip that shit and sell it for copper😂
I hear you man. I used all of that wiring. I tore out of it for other hot rods. Keep all that shit it’s worth something.
Where did you buy the LS9 cam ?
texas speed performance or TSP online. great customer service
Where are you located? Would like to get work done on mine if you're interested.
sorry, i only work on my own as a hobby. good luck
Really like the video but I couldn't put stuff back dirty...I guess that's just how I am
