Another thing missing from this raving review is that you can run this engine at 6K RPMS all day, every day, and launch it 1000 times, and it will never skip a beat. Tried and true engineering at its finest.
Too fast? 😂😂😂 It needs 1000hp to be fastfast.
That's why you just can't go wrong with a Porsche. Even a base 911 for what it is drives well.
No you can't, ask anyone that tracks any car. But it won't break before 10.000 km for sure.
What a beast
You can drive to the track, kick everyone’s ass including 1000 hp cars and then drive it home listening to the stereo comfortably, while the others trailer their car, and worry about mileage
@ 1:19 -- The dash g-force meter shows max 1.34g acceleration and 1.06g lateral. Glad to see you are driving it as it should be :)
😜
Well having come back from 2 months drive to S of France, Italy and Germany in my Porsche Turbo S I can tell you it made for a brilliant high speed cruiser. And for some reason a drop dead crowd pleaser wherever I stopped. Brilliant early morning drive along the coast road out of Portofino with 3 Ferraris and not feeling second best. The spaces and streets it slipped down would have been inaccessible to Ferraris, Bugattis or heaven forbid Lamborghini. Dream on; but in the real world it will be the Porsche guy in the hotel skybar with his best girl and Negroni whilst the Lamborghini guy frets over his front splitter. Or waiting for a tow.
Bought a macan s at 29 and my goal is to get me a turbo s in the future. I can’t geT enough of these videos and I would to drive this car through Europe. Thanks for sharing
Bull sh,it 😂
What do you do for a living?
@@PrimusInvictus Retired. Thank goodness. P
@Harry Balls spot on 😂
Porsche is a different breed🔥🔥
Physics bending
nothing extraordinary
Nice review. I have a 996 Turbo S manual tuned to 535hp. It’s super fun. Also a 987 Cayman S for the non turbo fiat 6 sounds. Both fun. Cheers.
The factory specs are 0-60 in in 2.7 , BUT everyone from Car & Driver to Motor Trend to independent RUclipsrs have hit consistent 0-60's in 2.2 with many getting 1.87 Second 0-60 times after warning up the tires. Additionally the horsepower figure stated by Porsche on the 2022 Turbo S is 640 Horsepower, NOT 650 that you mentioned, however, knowing Porsche, it probably dyno's at near 700 Horsepower
not true
@@adrian-qr6zk It does do 2.2. The LW Package does 2.1 to 60, measured.
@@freakattack9616 and? I didn't even comment on that pedant

Porsche has always and will always be pure love. It's truly something special. Koenigseggs and Bugattis will never compare to the spirit of a Porsche.
The Bugatti Veyron has like the Porsche 917, VW Phaeton W 12 the same DNA from the great Ferdinand Piech - one of greatest Automobilists of all time, as Ferdinand Porsche, Ettore Bugatti and Colin Chapman.
My absolute dream car :) thank you for the amazing video James.
Where has this been filmed? Loved those roads and that hotel on the river
Great driving and the SF90 Stradale is the best all around performance car. However the 911 Turbo S is the best overall performance per dollar hands down and also the best daily.
Porsche is like one of most overlooked and underappreciated car manufacturers. Everyone's just talking Lambos, Ferraris, McLarens, Bugattis, Koenigseggs - somehow leaving Porsche in the shadows despite so many of their cars being such performances beasts.
boring design and V6
@@jamesshkrelivanhoogstraten8040 While your Ferrari is catching fire the Porsche will finish the race and then drive across country home.
@@ryansperception lol.
Porsche is good when it comes to power but same design every car just little new aero mods for example the new GT3 rs just has a bigger wing than the GT3 that’s rlly it, it’s just boring while lambos and other supercars have better designs and power
@@ryansperception when a porsche catches fire no one cares
Such a great series James! I love Porsche so much! Every one of these I'd love to have on their own. What a trip to swap keys and enjoy those wonderful roads! Life Goals!
I too must weigh in regarding the Turbo. I own a Turbo S Cab, and at 62 have driven millions of miles. I love V8's and torque and engines and SPEED. There are many great brands out there, but Porsche does it SO differently. I regularly commute a 1,000 mile round-trip, with luggage, to my other home. Nothing I have raced or driven on public roads can compare to the punch, forehead banging braking, and gut wrenching cornering of a new Porsche Turbo S. It is the BEST HIGH PERFORMANCE AUTOMOBILE MADE SO FAR! ESPECIALLY WHEN COST OR RELIABILITY IS FACTORED IN
So, do you concur Doctor? Dr, do you concur?
LOOKING FOR A Z51 TOO! CUZ, I'M PROUD TO BE A YANK AS WELL!
Chill out lol
I have a 997.2 turbo s and it's still insane, 0-60 in 2.9 sec
Amazingly the new M4 awd hit 2.8
I have the same 997.2 turbo and it’s crazy fast. Can’t imagine needing more 😅
The human heart is never satisfied
unless you are drag racing 0-60 times is largely pointless
Nice I have a manual 996 Turbo S tuned. Pretty fast as well.
I’ve always thought Porsche make incredibly well engineered cars but haven’t got near wanting to press the button on owning one.
I’ve driven a couple of 911’s and was impressed by the levels of grip and acceleration but wondered how anyone other than a seriously competent driver could utilise anywhere near the limit of its capabilities on the track much less the public roads.
My thoughts entirely, I’d run out of ability before I ran out of fuel and end up in a hedge 😂
I own a Porsche Macan S, and love driving it. I don't have a desire to track it, but here in the Atlanta area ,I find lots of roads to push its handling ability. My only problem is I love driving it, and I'm afraid that if I get a 911T, i'm really going to push it as well.
totally agree...owned gt3rs for two years and taycan turbo for two years...i sold gt3rs and kept taycan for the long term...gt3rs is just not practical
@@Pryormba not sure you can compare the drive of a Macan to a 911. I did test drive a Macan s and it was nice suv and handled well. But what I ended up buying was an X4M comp. And now a 911s. That’s my favorite
Doesn't it really come down to the way the car makes you feel, though? I think it is wasteful to view the situation from a mentality of min-maxing the capabilities of the car, that's a very cold way to view sports cars.
The fact that this is cheaper than a veyron, cooler and more reliable is awesome
Probably not cooler, but amen to the rest
@@lasousoupe i think it looks way cooler. I aleays thought Buggatis are hideous design wise😂
@@alexanderammerl2404 good to know I’m not the only one who doesn’t like the veyron
@@Andrew9565-AD yeah i always thought the design of the front especially i soooo ugly for such an expensive car. It almost looks cheap in a way if you know what i mean😂
The Veyron is crap on corners...
Brilliant series, do more of these please
Glad you enjoyed the roads in my part of the world even if not the weather. 🏴 The A82 from Crianlarich north and west is outstanding.

This journey was fun thank you! Take Aston Martins.
6:50 - Definitely abiding by CAA guidelines there and flying within visual line of sight!
Super fast but lacking some soul and just doesn’t have the right sound. It’s so damn fast though.
Many thanks for the outlook and commentary lad Porsches are awesome
I can agree on 911 S. Believe it or not I found a weekend job testing cars. Porsche 911 S, was 1st. Cayman, Boxster, Cayenne, McCann and I got paid to do it.
Mr JWW absolutely Incredible Video I think that 992 911 Turbo S is Absolutely incredible and I'm glad you got to drive it
I'm not sure what people complain about, the sound of the Turbo S is fantastic. For me Porsche has always had been defined by that car...
I'm confused, don't you have a Turbo S? It feels like it's just gone and you've deleted it from your memory.
Brilliant series. Surely the next trip will be with your special DBS and your DBX as the support car. Do with some of other amazing Aston Martins 👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
👀😜
The bit where those two guys in the white Michelin porsche pulled out across oncoming traffic for Internet clicks was awesome.
Nice one guys. Super cool!
8:48 has the touring picked up some damage around the front? Looks a tad scuffed but could be mistaken
The previous turbo s was insane and they go make a quicker one.Porsche are in a category of there own.
Yeah, but shame about the "frightened deer" headlights. Not mucho enough I reckon. Isn't it time for a change ? The Taycan front looks a lot better, modern and almost sci fi.
I love the Panamera! 😃
One of my favorite cars period!
And I think it's beautiful. 🙏
I agree
Thank you for the upload! Scouring RUclips at times for actual content, not video games and shorts on the TTS
A Porsche is that old silver fox enjoying his coffee, but if you talk to him, his only memories are of racing at the bleeding edge and pushing every limit endlessly.
Always a classy, but intimidating guy. A guy not many people can live up too. The 911 is this personality distilled.
Owned a 991.1 Turbo S that I modded to 605 wheel hp. Had it for five trouble free years. I cannot think of a better all purpose daily drivable sports car than a Turbo S. It does everything well.
It feels like Porsche is last brand beside Koenigseg,Pagani that is putting pride in product. They push constantly
I love Porsche owned one at one point in time but ain’t no way in this faster than a Bugatti
Porsche are definitely ahead of the game when it comes to drivetrain.
That’s some great scenery man what country is this
the turbo S for me is the ultimate NEW car to appreciate if your passionate about engineering and appreciate that kind of thing. I would love to do well enough to have one as a weekend treat car. But.... the emotive petrol head side of me still says Ferrari TDF is absolutely number 1 in the modern world. If were still calling more then 5 years old modern lol
I still personally prefer Audi's R8, but the 911 is faster, slightly more practical. I aim to have either one within the next 3 years.
just get the regular turbo..tune it if need be and save a ton of money
Great content as always. 👌👍🏼
Truly much different than I thought but the 992 turbo s is a serious bit of kit,I am very taken by the GT3 and my favourite car is of course the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Coupe..thanks great vídeo 😁
Nice but still prefer a gt3 dream car great video again back in my hometown the road to the isles 😉
My heart is with the GT3 too!
The Turbo has always been a bad a$$, since 1976 to tomorrow, it’s truly an everyday super car, and it’s fuel mileage is spectacular for the performance
Great, another variation that looks the same as the previous. Most people won't know the difference between the trim or finish arrangements. Yes 2.7 sec 0-60 is lightening fast but 1/4 times, the top speed is not so appealing.
i never understood the fan following of porsche mainly for 911 but after seeing @carwow video of every goddam porsche blows out hypercars from ferrari and lambo out of the water, man mad respect for the car, the fans, and the company
Why do I get the idea that JWW would be blown away by the “mind bending physics” that go into a flashlight…..
If it was LED I’d lose my mind 😂
What a great video. Thanks James!
Cool Video - different question - which is the brand/Model from your glasses? Thanks
Terrific guys ...very fortunate to drive this automobile 🚘
I love that car! It's absolutely stunning.
Porsche is built with true quality!
Technology above all others
Proper jacket for the venture, James. Who makes it? Cheers.
And the sunglasses...which model it is?
I thought that it was a George Michael clone for a minute lol
Is it reliable enough to use for Uber?
Great choice of road en route to Mallaig 👍 try to visit at least once a year. Beautiful.
For a short while I had a 996 turbo and that blew me away, god knows what this must be like!
Heathen.
Would have been interesting to hear more details about why most of the drivers seem to prefer the 991 GT3? Is it the engine and the sound or is it the 991 as such that people seem to like more than the 992?
TTS more versatile car
good question as the gt cars don't make the best daily drivers.
They probably like the sound of the NA engine. But the TTS is more powerful and full of creature comforts. The perfect daily driver. GT3 belongs on a track.
This man is living my dream! At least someone is hahah!
Well, James, what about RUF CTR for the next time? Or Singer? Why not, if you like Porsche so much? I like them too.
Or Guntherwerks? 👀
GT3 for the road GT4 for the track!
What was the route you guys took? Reaaaaalllllly interested!!
It's Comical how certain Humans Worship Technology, while Not even giving a Care as Per the Physical Reality of Existing on the Planet WITHOUT the Former...And yet Claiming Humanity....
Beautiful scenery and landscapes, where is it?
See one yesterday, but it was parked outside a dentists, I'm guessing it's owner was inside
Used GT cars under £100k would be a good group review - Continental GT, DBS, 612/FF, Gran Turismo etc
Bring a 911 Turbo S to a drag race and the competition already crying foul 🤣🤣🤣
no, many videos of 992 Turbo S lost agains 488 Pista and 765LT easy

Could you list the hotels/chalets you used on this trip ? And any roads you would particularly recommend? Thanks
Yes the Ferrari is in sane so beautiful the gold wheels with that gray paint beautiful beautiful beautiful but that blue porch is gorgeous
where's that castle which was in the background? anyone know?

Ok this video was made 07/22 yea you're very late with this news and this video was not exiting as all guy. Its lilke an old man version of driving Porsches.
Looking on Auto trader at the 2022 992 turbo S and it's saying it has 690bhp and only 590ft/lbs torque.
So which one is he driving that has 800+ ft/lbs torque????
Man, that would have been a Heavenly experience.
Ooh he said bending oooh lol
JWW, is this a 2023 or a 2024? You mention 650 brake HP, the 2023 was 640. Did they increase it by 10 Brake HP in 2024?
Chiron is quicker Plus a Plaid will smoke it plus it’ll do 217mph now jw. Plus a Veyron is OLD!!! WTH
The 992 Turbo Lightweight goes 1/4 mile @ 9,98 straight from the factory. That is mental.
Did you win
Sunglasses when it’s cloudy, fella love himself or what ?😂
Do a road trip with some reimagined/ restomod cars would be hard to get enough of them
Would be very cool
The only missing car gt2rs my favorite
One day 👀
Where the heck is this i been in uk 10 years and never seen anything like this before, been to so many cities there, nothing like this?
WHY do every car journalist state Horsepower in Imperial and Torque in metric ??? ONE or the other please ….. it’s obvious to me Torque in metric sounds MORE impressive ? But it’s NOT ?
Because in the UK we use a satanic blend of metric and imperial. Want a beer in a glass at a pub? That's in pints. However in a bottle or can? That'll be in ml. Fuel? Litre. However, fuel consumption is miles...
@@Grover91 Do you think I just arrived off the banana boat ….. I know exactly what measurements are in the UK…. MPH, Yards in Golf etc etc …. BUT I’ve NEVER heard ANY OTHER capacity to use TWO different measurements discussing the SAME TOPIC ….. WE DON’T hear Formula ONE during a face stating MPH and have way through the race then state KM …… SAME topic ONE measurement ?
Why TF is he wearing sunglasses likes he's in California
Yeah, time for me to upgrade.
❤👍👌👏 the Technology of the Buggatti . But l will take the Porsche everyday of the week & seek out some serious Upgrades.
I love torque even my old A8 Diesel 4.2 had 930 NM on the twisting hills of NZ would stick with many high performance cars. But she was a fat girl and wobbled around the corners lol my dream car is what your driving awesome.
My buddy says that those cars don't deserve to be driven in countries where it is always raining!
A good car enthuses at all speeds. ✨
I have no idea how Porsche do it. The 992 turbo s is the best all round supercar. It’s a proper daily driver you can use on UK roads. Unlike Ferrari and Lamborghini and the like it’s reliable and well put together. If I had £250,000 I’d be down the Porsche dealership chomping at the bit and ringing them daily like a child asking “is it here yet”. This will probably be the last petrol 911 and I understand that climate change is more important than cars but I would have liked to have seen the next gen 911 that can top this car.
Hi so i have my car coming in September...
I remember you taking it for ppf can you tell me who you reccomended please?
Certainly got a chubb on for that insurance policy.
"twin clutch boxes couldnt handle 800nm of torque, they were only in likes of the veyron with 1000nm of torque"
so the logic here was what?
have a fleet of Koneasegggggggggs through the heat of Spain. would you last more than a few hours or days?
The turbo with a manual would be my favorite porsche which is basically the sport classic. 🤔
I like to do miles 500, 700, or 1000
Sport Classic is mega!
@@MrJWW have you driven one?!?! 👀👀👀👀👀
With that power and torque, I'd want my hands always on the steering wheel.
Pdk for me.
Insane, any car that can stay with a Tesla Plaid is a rocket ship
Is this your car or did you sell it already?
