It is a representation of what I imagined the games as when I was a kid. If this will inspire anything actually pokemon related it would be cool, I'd love to work on it even, But it's clear looking back at this how much pokemon has inspired me

This is the best self made project I’ve ever seen.
I was a huge fan of Pokémon as a kid and this hits the nostalgic bone so hard.

man you‘re a visionary… it‘s incredible how you captured perfectly what so many of us had in mind while playing these games… and to see it get this real… i‘m speechless… really hope one day we‘ll be able to experience Pokémon in VR in this great quality
Thanks a lot, the goal was to recapture what pokemon gen 1 was like in the mind of our inner child at the time.
BTW this was actually recorded in VR but I do use some editing tricks to smooth things out, still... we are not as far as you might think, technology-wise
@@arangraphics6767 Sick bro! Do you have a patreon or anything? I play with VR in unreal and this is great! I'd love to play the file or the ue project! This engine is letting us create what we wanted. I make Horror, Alien, Star Wars and Zelda to create projects where I slice things up with sabers and throw axes and spears at things for fun. I never make them games, just interactions. Pc stream to a quest 2 is amazing with lumen and nanite enabled. I cannot wait to see how far we can push the q3 or another next gen standalone headset! What a time to be alive, creating our fantasy worlds and playing in them! Tight work!

I'm not looking to make any kind of profit from this, it's something I want to share collectively with whoever like me holds pokemon in a special place in their soul, a way to relive that world as if it was the first time

so nostalgic, nintendo and gamefreak are sitting on such a great IP that would translate to VR so well. maybe one day in 2169 we might see it
Consider this took basically one guy 3 years of nightly work, maybe it's not that far away. Vr technology would probably need to become much more accessible and cheap tho

Actual shame we cannot play this, I would've bought a VR headset just for this. It's what I imagined as a kid, how I'd love to play this as close IRL as possible.
I plan on making a behind the scenes closer look at this project if it gets enough eyes on it, but as I said I'm gonna try to avoid to get taken down by keeping this as a short film art project.
@@arangraphics6767 if you make it private access through discord it wont be taken down. There are alot of developers that have made some games especially pokemon games that are still up and running soley because its not up for sale or advertised its more of a if you know you know or if you go searching for it.

Your really captured the feeling of ash wasting the pokemon fight on the tv. To kinda feel like you were the one there the whole time makes it hit just right

Please god give this man the dev team and funds to make this concept real, it’s absolutely outstanding and exactly what I would love in a vr Pokémon game
I think the idea of the UI coming from the Pokédex is a cool idea, I maybe they wouldn’t use the first initial pause screen, but maybe make everything come naturally from the world.
The idea of being able to use the Pokédex from the show with it scanning Pokemon and having it talk back is really hype, clearly you did a phenomenal job. I think it would be cool to communicate ideas through the Pokédex and the robot voice becomes almost like a companion, not one that gets in the way like Navi, but just a little digital helper/jarvis type dude. Maybe he reacts if your party is down on its health, it would allow the player to be silent while still allowing the game to communicate ideas and stuff.
Starting off with all 3 starters would indeed be my childhood dream!!
It's really insane what one guy can do with skills, compared what a multi billion company can do with all their employees. I don't get it... Please make this come true in one way or another. You sir, are a hero for us old timers and nostalgia hunters.

I know man, for me this has been spiritual, a way to interact and reflect intensely on my childhood memories, and how much that world felt more real than our own.

I'm not crying with nostalgia, if only Nintendo would take advantage of their buizness to think about the generation that made them grow up in us. the graphics that follow.. I don't understand how independents can manage to do better for more than 10 years
Thats because Nintendo people are old people stuck in the 90s with their pockets full of money. They dont care about breaking new grounds, people will buy their stuff anyway, especially pokemon games, no matter how crappy they are.

You are literally making my childhood dream come true. If I could make a wish, it would be to show this video to those in charge at the Pokemon Company and perhaps reignite their vision of what it could become. It's amazing.
Thanks man. I think pokemon has taken a more cartoony aesthetic, but I always had the feeling that gen 1 graphics/sprites were trying to push themselves to convey a more realistic/grounded idea, or at least that's where my childhood mind went. I always wanted to see what that fantasy would look like if it were realized, that's the idea behind this project.

from beginning to end, very beautiful (except for the crack cocaine squirtle).Beautiful touch with the music and gameboy mechanic. If only gamefreak had one person like you on their team.
Holy moly! This Looks incredible. And the amount of details. Crazy. I also liked the silence when entering the hall for the elevator in the beginning a lot. It really resembles the tension before a big fight. I hope you will continue this project. Maybe even so far that it will be a community drive open source project. This was 3 years in the making, my goal now is just to get everyone who might be interested to see it, and immerse themselves into this world even if just briefly. I feel I need to reflect upon to what extent it would make sense to keep this going and what to add, I can't realistically remake the whole game and it was never my intentention, I was more interested in imagining what it might look like.
@@arangraphics6767 Wow, three years! Well that shows dedication and that you believe in what you do. Now imagine twenty dedicated believer, all working together. Sure the amount of time would still be high but the crowd will support you with donations. But the long er I thi k about it... It might be to late for that. Because Nintendo, will send you a cease and desist notice, since you are not incognito. (unless you officialy end this project and continue with a secret untraceable IP and nickname)
