- This is not your typical watch review! In today's travel vlog style video, I share my adventures in Indianapolis, Indiana for The Urban Gentry X Moyer Fine Jewelers Watch Show event where I met many fellow watch enthusiasts, including several RUclipsrs. I also discuss my ever evolving watch collection, why I fell out of love with Omega Speedmasters and reasons why the Panerai Luminor is so fanatically beloved. In this video I also share a full in-depth review of the Accutron Astronaut-one of the most iconic pilot watches from Accutron-including positives, negatives, design elements, and where it's positioned in terms of value and the history of the brand. Is it time for me to finally sell my Rolex GMT Master II (aka the Pepsi) for this new 2023 Accutron release? Join me to find out, along with some fun travel vlog highlights, and a recap of the fantastic Watch Show event. What do you think about the watches featured in this video? Please share in the comments!

Feels like TGV’s channel is about to break into that next level. You can feel the momentum. Cheers Tristano, have a great weekend.
He has a watch sickness so I'm thinking something might go wrong what it is I don't know.... for instance his micrometre might start going wonky and who knows where it ends
A gentleman who is still in tune with the real world. Respectful, elegant videos, the love of watches new and old, popular favourites and unsung heroes. You deliver wonderful videos consistently. And I admire that you don’t pander to public pressure of what’s popular but instead cover what you love. Fortis, squale, bulova, universal Genève, to name but a few.
Be proud. Truly
I'm never disappointed when a new video drops. And what a fascinating hobby we are all afflicted by. Be great to see TGV back this side of the pond for a watch event.
🙌🙌🙌 London will happen again, it has to, it's my birthplace after all.
Stay tuned my friend, thank you so much for the support, Until then, chin chin 🥂😎
Best regards,
TGV
You and I both got Panerai almost at the same time, mine is PAM104 - same as yours but in 44mm case, and it is rarely leaves my wrist.
There is something very special indeed about this watch.
I just got into this hobby a year ago. I'm amazed by the whole community, 99% of people here are nice, friendly and helpful. Thanks to channels like TGV and MWC, I learned that you don't need a lot of money to collect watches. I learn new things all the time. Thank you TGV for your wonderful videos and best regards.
Can you tell me which channel is MWC?
@@tattoofthesun mad watch collector
Always a great day when TGV uploads! Thanks for showing us the Accutron and glimpse of the Moyer event!
Experience brings change... Thanx TGV for taking us along. 🥃🥃🥃
I really enjoy your channel. I love my PANERAI I never thought I would own one because of the size, but when I tried one on I had to have it. I just turned 47 and have been collecting watches since I was 8. My grandfather got me into watches and he taught me how to work on them. Most of my collection is affordable watches of every kind. I really enjoy tool watches the most because I can use the dive bezel to time anything I need to also you can time even better with a chronograph. I have many different complications among my different watches like perpetual calendar. Pretty much everything except for a Turbillion but I don’t have the bud for that. The Pan is the only “expensive” watch I’ve bought. I have a nice vintage Omega and Rolex I inherited. There’s just such great value in the Pan. Now I want to check out the AccuTron GMT.
Edit: after seeing the price I will have to hold off. I enjoy my cars more than my watches.
TGV, I just purchased my first Swiss auto, a Tissot Gentleman Powermatic!! I'm beyond thrilled, thank you for always giving sound advice and always being a true gent, never a snob. Cheers my friend.
A very classy choice Wes, congrats. 👏👏👏👏 Nothing like that first Swiss auto, thank you so much for sharing that, I am happy for you. Onwards and upwards!
Best regards,
TGV
Been watching your channel for 6+ years, the magic is still there!
You have made it to being a household name in the watch world. All the success to you, sir 💪🙏
Thank you so much, O&U!
Best regards,
TGV
I can’t agree more that tastes can change and I have to say I was so surprised that you would get into Panerai so much, especially with the size. (I am a massive Panerai fan myself so it’s great to see it getting some wrist time)
Accutron Astronaut temps me. My father flew the SR-71 and if he were a watch guy I might pull the trigger for him, but $3500 is a lot for this one. He certainly has earned it from raising me and keeping the free world free and all. I’ll keep it on my watch list - maybe in the future.
The Accutron had the name "Astronaut" added to the dial in 1962 to honor both NASA's X-15 hypersonic research pilots, among whom Neil Armstrong, and the Mercury 7 astronauts.
At least 8 of the 12 X-15 pilots wore an Accutron Astronaut pilot watch during flight and astronaut Gordon Cooper wore his during MA-9 (May 1963) and Gemini V (August 1965)!
The David Clark pressure suit worn by the CIA pilots flying the Lockheed A12 came with a special wrist pouch for the Accutron Astronaut tuning fork movement pilot watch !

Thank him for his service please 👏🏼🇺🇲
He has his memories and experiences, a watch might put the icing on the cake, he also might already have all he needs
You're amazing. Six watches for a trip and someone looking at them as a novitiate would be at a loss to explain the mini-collection, but to TGV there's always a rationale with threads that weave them all together. This is a great way to be a serious collector, because it's not the $$$ that joins them, it's your joy and discipline in building the collection such that all the pieces have something that links them to all the others, as different as they may be. Another fun video and I wish you and Omega and Bulova, et. al., a lot of happy days and success. In everything from the production to the editing you make videos that make it look easy, and you know that always means it isn't. I've learned so much and I enjoy your perspective and commentary every time a new video drops. You've given me a completely new take on how to think about timepieces, when before I was just rummaging around.
Cheers!
Excellent episode, loved getting to see some of the event from afar. The Accutron reissue really turned out great. I love the bracelet, and *really* love how cleverly they managed to tuck the crown away. Collection-wise, I think at this point everything in the box is a field watch or a g-shock. It's not a bad situation, and I find that even though the watches are fairly similar, they each offer something unique. From Oris to Sinn to a little quartz Beams Plus piece from Japan, they all have a personality of their own and are the right watch for a specific moment.
As usual, a beautiful and brilliantly done video sharing the love of watches. I have followed your work for years and you have actually opened my scope on how to live a more prosperous, Urban Gentry lifestyle, for which I must say thank you. My collection which covers Rolex to Zelos, Omega to Harry Winston, Blancpain to Casio is the journey upon which you have led me. Oisin, Paul, Jody, Marc , you are all guides to expanding not only the watch universe, but a lifestyle. Thank you for your exploration of knowledge to bring a depth to our hobby
I really appreciate seeing and hearing about your evolution in watch collecting. I know that as I grow into my collection my tastes will change. Realizing that I can safely say, one day I may be interested in most of the watches that you have embraced, but I doubt I will every own them. I've loved my tool watches all my life and have worn them with a suit and tie and in extremely formal situations. I felt no shame or remotely felt out of place wearing them, and I never will. Dress and luxury watches will never be my style. To each their own.
It's an indication of a true connoisseur that they establish their own tastes and not follow the crowd. Bravo - so many watch "enthusiasts" (at least on RUclips) are just lemmings following each other.
I love how much class this channel exudes, but still staying grounded and relatable, celebrating a Casio as much as a Rolex.
I chuckled when you showed the Panerai poster you purchased. I recently picked up my first Panerai (Pre-owned PAM000112) & immediately after located an image of the Flottiglia Mas logo (a skull clutching a rose between it's teeth) There is now a poster in my residence as well as an image as my phone screen. And I found a tooled leather strap with the logo as well. Something about the Panerai.... Once you wear one... it just gets you
Great to have met you TGV! Moyer has always been polite and professional in my dealings with them. Thanks for stopping by Indy!
An amazing time was had by all. Thank you TGV for the shoutout and great event!!
I enjoyed meeting you at the Moyer event. If you may recall my Zenith won as best chronograph and I had on the Gerald Genta jump hour watch. Keep up these great videos.
TGV - you are a true gentleman and your enthusiasm for watch collecting is contagious. Keep your videos coming.
Wonderful video and looks like a great get together at Moyer’s!!!! I’ve ordered a couple of Squale watches from Moyer’s and there was one out of stock which they notified me via email, we were going back and forth via email and sorry I forgot who called me from there but was a pleasant phone call and he was very professional and made everything perfect!!!! Just superb customer service!!!! I’ve got a few Speedmasters and I don’t think I could ever let them go!!!! I would love a Panerai especially after a friend of mine showed me his last October, but I’m trying to take it slow!!!!
Greatly appreciate the shout out. You are the epitome of a watch enthusiasts. Thanks and Be Blessed
Glad to see you hanging out at Moyers. My wife & I got our wedding rings there & she was kind enough to get my Omega Planet Ocean there. Good choice on The Carmichael Hotel. We will be staying there again. Hopefully, you were able to hit some of the decent restaurants along the Monon as well as Yats over on Old Meridian St.
TGV, I hope all is going great in life for you. I got my wife a Dan Henry 1900 and she really likes it. I have a pretty big collection and I was pretty surprised how nice it is for just $200, might have to get one with a white dial to scratch an itch, nicely put together pieces.
You classy thing you! I have seen them but I have not reviewed them yet, very smart, not just move on your part, but also great to see Dan doing such cool stuff for ladies too. Here's to enjoying the hobby with loved ones 😎🥂
Thank you for sharing that my best regards to you both!
TGV
My very first "Luxury Watch" was a Panerai Luminor I gifted to myself way back in 2002 and it is still very reliable, and will always have a big place in my heart!!

It was great to finally meet you T! And thank you for the shout out! Cheers my friend!
Likewise my friend!!! A pleasure and long over due.
A big hug to you both. Next time drinks in Chicago after hopefully after the summer.
A presto! Grazie,
T.
I love the look of the Astronaut. Very effortless in the way it pulls off the minimalist/functional look.
Thank you for your videos, you have really brought your passion the screen-even purchased an Orient Triton since watching, Chapeau!
the astronaut fits you perfectly as far as I can see in the video. It is one of the few watches that I am really interested in. BEAUTIFUL!!
So refreshing to listen to a vlogger who talks about other beautiful makes of watches a proper proper watch channel
Bravo amico 🎉
Sei Grande 😂😉
Another sublime video production & content Tristano. Grazie my friend for keeping the gentry entertained in such eloquent manner. We need to see you over in the UK for some horological gatherings.
Missed you TGV as you were in my Hoosier state (love Indiana)..! Hope you can come back again....Great video, loved it...! Greg
I enjoyed this adventure and more vlog-like video. That Accutron is beautiful but a bit pricey for my comfort. Speaking of Navitimer, I pulled the trigger on a A23322! I’ll have a video up soon.
Great channel TGV, and always something to learn from your videos about watches and the watch world, love that you got the Panerai itch.
I’m a Pan fan (Paneristi) it turns out, but the funds aren’t enough to just fill up the collection with Panerai’s over night, and there’s sow many to choose from, for now I’m just loving wearing my 1316 and 590, hopefully you’ll enjoy yours just as much, maybe that could result in som more Pan content 😉👍🏻
Greetings from Denmark, and keep up the great content 👍🏻
I used to live just south of Indianapolis in Marion County. Beautiful state. Great video!
Hey TGV, long time fan! I know you’re a big Vapormax guy, but I must make a suggestion, if you are ever interested in any New Balances, try the 990v3’s, most comfortable all day shoe. May not be your style at first glance, but I know you do like quality and the 990s are top notch quality with comfort. Anyway, loved the video man!
Glad you had a great visit to Indianapolis and Moyer. My first Air Force assignment in the ‘70s was in Indiana and we all spent many memorable weekends in Indianapolis. With your love of history, if you visit there again I recommend visiting the former Fort Benjamin Harrison in NE Indianapolis - now a state park with a Museum of 20th Century Warfare. And of course, The Brickyard!
Thank you so much for the tips, but more importantly for your service.
I can't wait to go back.
Best regards,
TGV
Rather fittingly, you responding "GOLD?!? Are you serious???" was a golden moment 😂
Thanks to you, my little niche has become lorier, I've spoken on my Hyperion being my daily and finally I have found a pvd gold green dial falcon 2 to be my field watch. Just got it today.
I’m jealous. Keep missing the boat as the sell out so quick
Great video. The Panerai is wonderful. Glad you are enjoying it.
Was a blast! So good to meet you. Wore my Rangemaster right on through the whole weekend.
Thank you so much Ethan. Meeting you was a true highlight. Reading your comment now makes all the hard work that went into the RM worth it. Onwards and ever upwards my friend. Until next time, onwards and upwards!
TGV
I really enjoyed the event! Glad you enjoyed Indy it’s an awesome town!
Awesome video TGV...Ive been a fan for many years...great EDITING by the way...much appreciated
Choice paralysis... great! I am really feeling with you, Tristan!
The travel vest is such a clutch move! I've been doing this for years... Anything to simplify the inevitable queues and hassle of airline travel... A good GMT helps too. Keep it up!
Loved this video. I hope the event went well, though I'm certain it did.
For me, my tastes haven't changed but I have happily gotten used to selling watches to fund others that I have wanted. I haven't not liked those I have sold, but I simply wanted others more. No sellers regret at all, that is something it does take time to get comfortable with.
Outstanding job! I loved this. I am new to watch collecting and have a real love for military watches. There are so many terrific new field watches to choose from, but I find myself looking to the horological past for my next acquisition. Something that might have actually been used in battle.
Great video TGV, the editing was phenomenal! The Accutron Astronaut is very nice but $3,500 is like you said "a bit rich" as there are "nicer" GMT offerings at half that price. I picked up the small 43mm Lunar Pilot and I personally feel it's a better looking watch at a much more affordable price point. Yes it's a quartz but the accuracy of the NP20 movement is fantastic.
But it is a quartz.
@@markw-2025 The Accutron Astronaut uses an automatic mechanical Sellita SW330 movement.
A nice orginal 60s Astro is 1500-2000 USD, for the real deal.
But This Astro is not a Accutron 😝
So fun coming along on your adventures. Looks like an amazing time.
I had a great time at the event and you were a wonderful presence.
Another Friday evening tradition with TGV done well. So much character and feel. Thank you.
Thanks for posting, great to hear from you
Wonderful production and editing on this video. Really great job, I enjoyed
Love it! I agree, you gotta fly in sweats and kicks! That vest looks pretty crazy!
This is by far the better watch RUclips channel from the others that i follow.
Outstanding video, Tristano! We need more!
Good evening TGV! Great for us to ge some coverage of the Accutron Astronaut. It is a classic yet timeless design. Fitting in the cold war era as well as space travel beyond the boundaries of our solar system! Best regards!
Good evening my friend. You are so right, it defines classic. Spot on as always, chin chin and have a great evening too 🥂😎 thank you and best regards to you too!
TGV
My absolute dream would be to browse a large AD's inventory along with you TGV! I'm also really liking the direction Bulova has been going with Accutron. That Astronaut is 🔥🔥🔥
Best one of 2023 TGV, love it! Elements of travel are the best 🤌. Glad to hear the event went well 🦖 👏🏻
Thank you Andy!!! So happy to hear that. O&U
Best regards,
TGV
T, Great video. The event looked really fun... Wish I was there. Best as always. Matthew
Matthew!!!! So funny, at one point I thought to myself "I was Matthew was here". Lets get one in LDN going again! As always, my very best to you and the family. Lets catch up soon. FYI no trip is ever complete without my NDC watch roll 😉. Grazie fratello!
T.
Awesome TGV, hopefully in the future I can come to an event like the one you just had 😊👍🙏
After the Speedmaster Pro cal. 1861 I got the Speedmaster 125th cal. 1041.
Now I enjoy them both!
Love your videos. Showing us youngins how to be a gentleman one video at a time. Bought my first luxury watch based on your videos. Keep up the great work
Thank you so much my friend, I am deeply honored.
May I ask which watch you went for? Onwards and upwards!
Best regards,
TGV
Love your video’s! This was nice. Thanks!
It was great to meet you, I really enjoyed the event!
Todd!!! The honor was all mine my friend, thank you so much for attending.
Until next time, be well my friend!
T.
It’s crazy that you were in my hometown. I’ll have to catch you next time. I was working this weekend.
It doesn't surprise me at all that you love that Panerai, there really isn't anything better.
It’s wonderful to observe your tastes evolve over time just as ours should do as well!
Good time had @ the Moyer event. Classy group of "Gentry." Thank you.
CP!!!!! The honor was all mine, it was kinda surreal. Next time we will deffo talk more.
Thank you so much for attending my friend. Until next time, my very best regards as always.
T.
I fell out of love with 2 submariners, a 2008 and a 2019. There's other peoples opinions and then your own. The Sub is iconic and some folks grail, but if you don't like it move on. Far more interesting owning what you really love through your own uninfluenced choices. Another great vid !
Christ mate. I wasn't expecting to see those trainers. 😅 love your content X
I wanted a Speedy and was offered a good deal in 2019 when I put my Seamaster in for service but...shock....it didn't do anything for me. 😢
Then in lockdown I saw the Accutron space watch and decided, for the price, I'd scratch the itch. I LOVE IT !!!
Thank you TGV for another great video!
You are a legend tgv! This video was awesome!
I also sported my Rolex gmt and Daytona at Indy many moons ago… though I was there for work (I worked for an f1 team at the time ). Indy is a fascinating place, the drivers could walk unmolested downtown and we had a marvelous steak dinner at a table next to Mario Andretti. Good memories and … I also had some good Nikes for walking!
So lovely to hear a genuine comment on tastes evolving and developing based on experience -- ultimately without the current state leading to a complete denial of prior flights of fancy. Just a statement on how there was undoubtedly love there, and now there isn't.
Coincidentally, that is exactly how I feel about Bulova at present, to be honest - my first automatic watch was a Miyota-driven piece of theirs whose design was not unlike those of the SevenFriday hype that the early noughties seemed to be engulfed in. I also did, at one point, cast eager glances in the direction of the original Accutron, or even the Ventura. I never acquired either one of those - and the one I did, I definitely would not buy now, ~15 years later. But that probably does have a lot to do with the fact that it's an itch I've scratched... Aside from the 'thrill' though, there' have been more than a few significant experiences we have been through together, so I could not imagine not having my Bulova in my collection.
Oh, and... My current love affair is with a vintage column wheel chrono - something I never thought would have attracted me 15 years ago.
I am a new follower and liked your style a lot. Cheers from Brazil
Hi TGV. It’s interesting how tastes change. I seem to be ebbing towards 2 or 3 hand no date clean and simple watches. I have the original Invicta 1953, a Bering Max Réné, and a Lorier Neptune and hope to add a Zephyr to that this year. But I also love my Hammy ‘Cooper’ the dial and quality is just excellent, and recently I acquired a vintage Oris Big Crown Pointer Date which I find really classy. All the best, Richard over the pond in Cornwall.
0:38, Howlin' Wolf? Hellz yeh! You're frickin alright, Urban Gentry! (which I already knew...)
Good stuff as always. And since you mention it, yeah, I am kind of hung up on tool watches, particularly Fliegers and field watches. Fortis, Glycine, and Hamilton never seem to disappoint.
Thanks for another great video TGV. A great travel collection and really love that Astronaut! I actually don't have a DW-290 so went on line here in Istanbul to order one. Interestingly I got the last one being sold by the authorized Casio dealer. Maybe the rumor of discontinuation is right!
It's funny that I live in Indianapolis and you made it look so much more interesting than my daily experiences😅
😅😅 Thank you my friend! Next time hopefully we get to talk longer.
T.
If you come again, I'll take you on a tour and introduce you to some more of the culture.
Great show TGV as always . I have just got a new Lunar Pilot.. the Blue Panda dial.. got to say it's a lovely watch. especially for someone like myself on a bit of a tight budget.. .. Time to come back to blighty for an event mate... would be great to meet you.. shake hands ..And have a pint of bitter.
Wonderful video. You have such great content. I was for a long time a dive watch kind of guy, but now I am definitely desiring a Universal Geneve. Such a classy watch.
I love your video's because they always get me thinking. I fell out of love with my "grail" a few years ago all of a sudden. It was an IWC GST Perpetual with salmon dial. I ended up selling it. I think that there were two reasons for falling out of love with it. First it was a very expensive piece to be wearing around the streets everyday. That as been accentuated even more with the ridiculous price increases recently. Second reason kind of relates to the first and that is all the watches I really wanted are now beyond my financial capability. People are treating watches as an investment and they are becoming safe queens. I'm now quite happy looking at good bargains that still represent great value in the other $1000 range.
Hello TGV. Thank you for an other great episode!
beautiful video as usually, this time in a beautiful city as well
Quel bulova astronaut è stupendo, omega la sto apprezzando sempre di più.. bravo 👍🏻
I got my first turtleneck in middle school. Worn them ever since. It truly is the ultimate tactical garment.
🙌🙌🙌🙌 No words, just respect and thank you!
Best regards,
TGV
Panerai is the only thing that fascinates me other than Rolex.. amazing watches , unique and with fantastic history !
Fantastic getting to see you getting out and about, TGV! Desperately wanted to make it to your event at Moyers. Just couldn’t make it happen this time. Looking forward to hopefully catching up with you next time. Which hotel did you stay at? Looked nice.
Never travel without the GMT…..truer words never spoken.
Now about that Astronaut…..I love the way it looks and I am glad it was brought back, but it missed the mark on so many levels. They should have used an accutron movement or a high precision quartz. The point is that the Astronaut was a tool that was supposed to be more accurate than an automatic. Be re releasing it with an auto, it is pointless. Secondly, the price is prohibitive. Extremely unnecessarily so. Bulova could have had such a huge hit with this with either a better price point, a more appropriate model, or both. It is cool to look at but ridiculous to purchase.
Totally agree with you about the watch journey and growing as a collector. I have noticed over the last year or two that I have a primary piece that I adore and if I died, my kids would say THAT was his watch. He had others but THAT was the one.
Excellent video. Fantastic episode and thank you as always for the wonderful information, education, and entertainment. Be well, my friend. Onward and upward.
Nice one TGV...wishing you all the luck in the world.
Awesome vid. Keep them coming.
Great content and excellent points 👍
The Acutron Astronont? 😮🤔 I'm sure their's a point of wearing a GMT traveling the world! I would like to own an Acutron Spaceview. I do agree with you, the Acutron Spaceview does look something a kid might wear.
First in! Thank you TGV for another excellent offering! Cheers!🙂
