    Just a freaking animal.... so powerful the reverse lift is not something performed very often.... but he did it so easy to 130kg wrestlers who didn't want to be thrown....

    But imagine your are 33 and destroyed every record and be the best ever in this sport

      @@Keranu the best wrestler from Germany that now retired was Frank stäbler he was a bronce medalist in olympia and was 3 time World Champion and 2 time european Champion , and he won the bronze medal at olympia after he got covid and the doctors told him that he would never recover and be able to wrestle again

Olympic champion, multiple world champion and the only German to be inducted into the FILA Hall of Fame. Bullmann might have enjoyed further success if his weight class up to 90 kilograms had not been abolished after 1996.

    He had an mma fight once or twice I believe. I watched one fight where he would grab his opponent and toss him around like a rag doll the whole fight. He did not throw a single punch and was just toying with the other guy throwing him around the ring. He obviously dominated the whole fight but you could tell he did not want to really hurt the other guy. It was obvious he could have chocked him or broken the guys neck in seconds, but he just showed different throws on that guy. Amazing athlete.

    I trained 20 years to try and achieve as ths MAN did,... I mostly felt good after my matches. Except for the possibility of what this guy could do to me... Beast mode long before it was a catch frase...💖

      Phelphs is really a beast he has like 30 gold medals in Olympia and the same at World Cup and also over many years he was the greatest swimmer

    Yep, Karelin was extremely powerful. His opponents trained very hard too, pro level wrestling is not for the weak. But no one will break his win/loss record I think.

      I saw a clip of Randy Couture successfully executing a reverse lift. Very impressive for the heavyweight class, but to see Karelin reverse lift super heavyweights with ease and more power, it's extraordinary. Superordinary.

    Question from a non-wrestling person: what are the technical names of Karelin's two big moves -- 1) the move where he rolls the guy completely over like a crocodile with its prey, and 2) the over-the-hip suplex he does?

      The first one is gutwrench and the second is reverse body lift also know as Karelin lift.

      He is pretty dismissive of MMA, though. He said it's just set of rules (or lack of thereof) of fighting. He doesn't take it seriously and don't consider it 'true' sport. Pretty controversial FWIW

      @mikeC. Heard an interview of the American Greco coach talking about Rulons first match pre Olympic with Karelin. He got reversed lift slammed on his neck and they thought his back was broken

      Yeah I noticed that too. Maybe it's a functional lift to help recreate part of his reverse lift. Or it works like an alternating reverse curl without dumbbells.
