As a young person I was high in openness but lately I’ve noticed my disgust levels going way up. I think it may be due to watching society change over time. Certain things that were taboo in the past are celebrated now and vise versa. It’s annoying. Also I question people’s true intentions more.

Fantastic explanation about disgust, really fascinating and insightful research on it. That cliffhanger end about hierarchies and egalitarianism was getting interesting to me as well... however I just wanted to add my thoughts about that. I think both have usefulness/helpfulness in harmony with each other as it can help "bridge the gap" between hierarchy rankings in the form of improving the relationships and fleshing out misunderstandings between the borders, classes, distinctions, etc. and to rediscover moral foundations whilst also learn off each other in growing ways, without losing their own main place/purpose in a biological and spiritual manner (which, in my opinion, is the core, dangerous problem with radical egalitarianism).

It’s fun to feel disgust. It just makes life fun! I consider it a positive emotion. Cultivating this emotion allowed me to conquer lust, and made me a better human in general. Disgust was a difficult emotion for me to feel so it left me open to all kinds of negative reverberating effects. What is life without a little fun? Be disgusted, or risk being disguistful! Embrace it, I promise it’ll help with a lot 😂❤

One of my close friends actually has a lot of sensitivity of disgust and she often talks about how disgusted from the possible sexual partners she might have, and creates endless scenarios about that person which makes me go... Hmm 🤔 Well Thats interesting. This was somehow informative so thanks JP

JP also said high IQ people are not sensitive to disgust. Your friend is right in some sense , if it's her first time or something like that , it should be good otherwise it's traumatic and that's a lot worse . I think he would have elaborated disgust more. İt's not clear.

I am a very ordely person. I am not anorexic but I do have black and white thinking. I am quite an intolerant person towards the infractions of others or myself. I have noticed my mortality is so closely tied to my disgust sensitivities. I am pretry conservative... with more of a libertarian leaning. I believe that you can get yourself out of anything with determination and enough effort. That thinking has been offensive to most people I have come in contact with but I generally view them as weak or lazy... get disgusted and don't want them in my life. All the people I have in my life are extreme go getters and I find them very pleasing to be around. I love that high energy. When I look back in life that black and white thinking has turned my life around for the better. I worked 100 hours weeks and within 2 years I went from crushing poverty without proper education making 50 bucks a week doing unskilled labor... to making $1500-$1800 a week being self employed. I will exceed with ease after this quaratine. I actually like working a lot. I do not like being unemployed when I have been. So much of my worth has been tied up in what I bring to the table. So I have become very low when I have dealt with health issues that prevented me from working. I think I am pretty good at coping though now even though it's not preferable. I am not really a picky eater... my mom made sure of that. I am in a happy relationship with a man who is the entrepreneurial type. We actually enjoy and work very well together in business and our relationship. He is one of the few guys I have come in contact with who hasn't disappointed me. I have very high standards as to what a guy should be (which I dont think are high but others do). I have equal standards for myself with respect to my gender. I am an INTJ-T and he is an ENTP-A. I have learned recently through cognitive behavioral therapy is very good at making a little space for grey. I am realizing grey has its place. Black and white thinking has seemed to help me advance my life, solve issues quickly and efficiently and avoid problems but it has sometimes caused me to become depressed and oddly enough to overwhelm me to the point of procrastination. Sometimes when you have all or nothing thinking it can devalue your efforts in your mind and make you less likely to do it and much more likely to stall. I have found it it very helpful with my procrastination to take incremental steps to a specific goal rather than expecting myself to completely finish a large project at all once. If I take too much on all at once and be hard on myself... it overwhelms me and I am less likely to do it all. If in those times I set obtainable goals like working on the project for 15 minutes day... then I find I end up being willing to work for 2 hours gladly... which I do. Sometimes I have started out on my 15 minutes... stopped... then came back willingly and worked for 10 hours on it. Proper cognitive behaviors shape your veiw of the world. Our perspective is closely tied to our actions and responces. So if you get ahold of how you see the world you can really have an impact on your actions. It is a bit of a mental hack I learned.

You should be concerned about the dark triad and the other two aspects of disgust sensitivity to explain human behavior. It is not only big five.
    What am I talking about?
The Three Domain Disgust theory (Tybur, 2009) is a well-validated approach in which disgust is divided into three aspects-pathogen, sexual and moral.
Peterson only talks about the pathogen disgust sensitivity. But the other two are related to the Dark Triad. That's very important as well. For pathogen disgust sensitivity, you don't need much of a social context, though it may be provoked by social context.. For moral and sexual disgust sensitivity, you definitely need a social context.
    1. In a social context, within which sexual and moral disgust operates, these threatening stimuli are related to the Dark Triad of personality traits -subclinical narcissism, Machiavellianism, and subclinical psychopathy.
    2. People who score HIGH on Dark Triad are far from being disgusted sexually and morally!
Hence they are capable of exploitative behavior on the sexual and moral levels.
    3. *But they may or not be orderly*. Paradoxically, being ‘normal’ in pathogen Disgust Sensitivity (DS) may play a crucial role in the effective implementation of their antisocial agenda.
    4. Moral and Sexual DS are independent of the pathogen disgust sensitivity. Important distinction!
"There is an explicit distinction between pathogen, sexual, and moral disgust. The first one operates mainly sensorially, and the stimuli triggering it are easily detected ‘at first glance’, even in a public context. For instance, sensing an individual with an unpleasant body odour in an anonymous crowd is easier than detecting a notorious liar or a risky, promiscuous potential mate. Subsequently, pathogen disgust may, but does not have to, be evoked in a social context.
Moral disgust, in its essence, is not perceived with our modalities, it operates by more symbolic channels based on a perception of social norm violations (Ritter, Preston, Salomon, & Relihan-Johnson, 2016). It inherently demands another human (the transgressor) and operates strictly in a social context. As for sexual disgust, it is also based on a (potential or real) interaction between at least two individuals, thus the social context in most cases is necessary for sexual disgust to be evoked". See: Personality and Individual Differences, Volume 202.

JP has loads of interesting psychological viewpoints. However he creates a strawman of the far Left's objectives (at least when it comes to the Libertarian Left). For example, it would still be possible to delegate tasks and know 'who's responsible for what' in a horizontal/egalitarian society. Many or possibly most who advocate horizontal societial organization hold that one of its main advantages over hierarchical organization is its mechanisms that allow the general public to unconditionally and immediately be able to hold its leaders/delegates accountable for their actions, and to directly be able to replace those leaders, as opposed to...well... just look around you... do you have the power to call a town meeting and oust a corrupt politician? do you really believe your government is going to voluntarily 'un-corrupt' itself?
