    Irvin, 1,000 thank you's. I had a similar problem and assumed a bad starter. Watching many videos on the starter replacement trouble I was headed for, I tried your solution, a simple connection problem. Low and behold, that's exactly what it was. A very simple and inexpensive fix. Thank you for your guidance in saving me a lot of money! Keep up the good work. Bless you.

      Thanks Greg for you kind words and for watching the entire thing. The car now has close to 190k miles the engine has been solid but the transmission had to be replaced once (could have been prevented) my only maintenance to anyone reading and with this type of car is to check their transmission fluid to make sure that it's is not dark in color or smell burnt. Apparently the fluid replacement cycle needs to be more frequent compared to other models. (Refer to your users manual on recommend intervals and you will see) no need to concern anyone just check and make sure that it's not burnt and your good to go. If it is burnt I would recommend that you ask a transmission place what to do(sometimes adding all new fluid can be harmful to the transmission seals so they sometimes will mix the fluid incrementally)..
      Thanks to all for your support and stay blessed.

      @speedracer175 I think hers was on the front side of the block but behind the exhaust. It wasn't too bad to get to. But that was several years ago, so I might not be remembering it correctly. She doesn't have that car anymore and I don't remember what year it was or what engine it had. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

    Bro, you are Awesome. I watched the Whole video just to see. Earlier this week, my Daughter got stuck and all we did after a few steps was Tap the relay and turn the key, it started. Today, I find out she never took the car in to get checked, so we followed the steps from the other day and Nothing. I checked the car's heater as a Backup, pulled the Starter Relay, made a small Jumper, touched the 30 & 87 slots (I believe), the Starter WORKED; The click-spark Freaked me out because I've been Shocked before, so I did it a few more times... Perfect. I only had sandpaper, scratched up those two blades, cleaned them with my shirt, did Not have Dielectric Grease, so just Hoped for the Best, plugged it in and Boom 💥 The car STARTS 😎👍🏻

      Hey Julz, thanks for sharing your story. I can picture the whole story. Working on cars can sometimes turn into a mini adventure trying to find out what is wrong. I'm glad it worked your you. It's been a while since I posted this video the Mazda continues to work fine and is nearing 200k miles. The only thing I recommend is to check the trans fluid if it's an automatic since they recommend replacing more often for the type of transmission. Other than that best wishes/ luck.

    Thanks so much for posting this video. I ran into the same issue with the my Mazda 3 after replacing the clutch. I was trying to figure what it was that I put back together wrong. Then I found your video and was able to do some quick and targeted troubleshooting. Sometimes it's s gamble and depends on how the original owner treats the car. I bought CRV few years back but the owners never did any maintenance on it a I bought it based on Hondas reputation ended up being the most trouble some car i have ever owned. Due diligence and a long test drive are a must when buying used if the place won't allow you to take in your own mechanic or test drive the car simply walk away. Like in relationships you need to take it slow and get to know each other before commiting :) best of luck JN

The coil will be too hot will wait for 15 minutes and it will start as if there was no problem at, so I think the cable connecting to the coil is rusty, will have to make a test and see if its the rust.

    • @irvininz1
      @irvininz1  3 года назад +1

      Hi Jani thanks for reaching out. So places like AutoZone won't have it and if you call the dealer they might try to sell you the whole harness and that can cost a fortune. The best work around in my opinion is to have the connections soldered directly. Personality I would not use the same connector even if I could source one new due to there being no water protection and it would just corrode eventually. Best of luck. If you don't have access to a solder I suppose you could clean out the connector pins of rust and that can be a bandaid fix for a little bit if indeed the connector was the problem and not something else. Best of luck !

    • @irvininz1
      @irvininz1  2 года назад

      What happens when you crank the engine? Does it crank? Does the motor turn? A quick way to find out if your engine did not seize (the pistons are stuck) is to try to turn it by hand (usually by turning the crankshaft bolt) I'm not familiar with your engine or car model but I think that's a good start before you start throwing money at the car. After that you can do a compression test to make sure that your gaskets are still holding? Then find out why the act overheats could be a simple fix such as a thermostat or you might need new gaskets or a radiator. Sadly I can't help much over the internet but if you are able to diagnose that your engine is still usable that would be the best way to start.

    • @irvininz1
      @irvininz1  2 года назад

      @@bvolivas8510 Ok at least the motor turns. In your first comment you mentioned the reason the car stops working was because it overheated. The very first thing to do is to find out if your engine did not suffer damage.
      Spray engine starter fluid into the air intake manifold. Your engine should start if it did not suffer damage from overheating and if all the electrical stuff is fine. If does not start proceed to the next steps .
      Start by going to AutoZone and borrow from them a compression test kit.(you will need to search on RUclips on how to use it or have someone help if you are unsure) also search head gasket pressure test. Basically you want to make sure that the engine will be fine before to throw money at it. Second you need to find out why it overheated. (Search RUclips cooling system diagnose)
      Wish you luck and that it's a simple fix. Otherwise you will need to have a mechanic do diagnostics for you but at least you will give it a fair try before going to them.

      I'm adding a link as it would take to long to explain I would just skip the connector and splice the wires to avoid the same problem later on. ruclips.net/video/r7GlDBge_WU/видео.html

    This video saved my life! Ok, maybe not literally, but this was my problem. Swapped it out with a simple female connector and voila!
    Thanks!

      Best of luck fixing the issue. In my opinion I recommend soldering the connections and bypass the plug. Anyone reading this make sure to test the connections or the shop and dealer might sell you a new starter and the problem would remain due to bad connection

      I recommend not using the same connector type. You can solder the wires and heat shrink for weather protection a mechanic should charge no more than $20 to do it. If you do it your self you can do fix it for less than $1!

      Hopefully the vid helps. If it's that then soldering the leads to the selenoid would be the cheapest and long term solution. You can always try cleaning the leads in the connector and get by for a little while. Best of luck, thanks for watching.

      hey thanks for watching the video. If you have tried all the diagnostics stuff on the video you may try to take out the starter and bench test. If it does not run ones of the car that likely is the issue.
