pitch shots brilliant here's how you remember all the 5 points for pitch shots WRAPS W Weight 70% on front foot R Do not ROTATE your hands A ACCELERATE your swing P swing should be PARALLEL S SCREW fix your wrist Hope this helps your viewers to remember the drill
Used this technique for the last 2 rounds. Shot 80 then 77 off the stick. Got up and down at least 6 times in each round. Brilliant video and love the enthusiasm as always 👍🏻
I watch a lot of golf videos online. Matt is fantastic, subtle humor, energetic, and explanations that work. I already have a golf mat, couple buckets, and 100balls in the backyard. This video is gold. Keep up the great work, Matt.
Can't thank you enough. I applied the skills you taught, & I practiced twice, in this video today in the course. My GIR was 78%! Usually I shot 95ish. Today I shot 82! Unreal! Pitching & chipping were always my struggle. Not going past horizontal & accelerating through worked wonders. So much more control. Thanks again brother!
Just listen to this tip and am going out to try it out. All your tips have helped me alot. I just turned 71 and I've got the best short game I've ever had and getting better the more of your tips I practice thanks Matt for your great work
Started playing again after 20 years, your videos are great, but this is the one that made me subscribe and get notifications. Your level of excitement is rad. Also, as a lefty, I get to tighten the screw!
I hit one of those yesterday from about 30 yards with that exact technique. As soon as I hit it my buddy said "Nuked that one." Took one hop and stopped dead about 2 1/2 feet. Saved par!
Absolutely brilliant video and you make it look so simple and most of all your presentation is the BEST. I am definitely going to try this 5 steps out. Please keep these videos coming...
I love your tips so much! I did try them. Awesome! For the down swing I use to call "unlock" but your "unscrew" works even better and to the point triggering huge power. When I do this I feel so like a pro.. thank you very much for sharing.
I just found your channel over the past few days and this was one of the first videos I saw of yours. Amazing!!! Tried this on the course today and I dropped my score by 8 shots! I intentionally missed most of the greens just so I could practice this. Thank you so much for your tips! Great video.
Awesome! Can't wait to get to the range to practice these tips! These half or baby wedge shots have killed me forever. Thanks again Matt for an awesome video!
Follow up comment Matt....been stopping by range on way home from work and practicing these shots. All I can say is Wow! You are the man....the technique is so easy to follow and it works! I used to dread any shots less than full pitching wedge but I can't wait to try these on the course. Thanks man!
Great Video! So much better than what I've been doing as far as trying to feel a 56 or 60 degree wedge in from anything inside 100 yards. By learning in practice what each club gives me for a yardage based on a "just less than parallel" backswing, will take all the guess work out of trying to feel a shot into the green. Just got a dump of snow, so looking forward to trying this out asap.
Thank you very much for the video. Quick question: How does one adapt these principles to uneven lies, especially uphill pitch shots? If fact, if you could do a video on the different uneven lies and their adjustment, that would be awesome. Thanks.
Hey Matt! I have to agree with most of the other guys, “this is one of your best videos”!! Love your work. Thank you. Got a question though...you never mention follow through length, but appears that your pitches go from 9 o’clock - 3 o’clock. So, should we try to keep our follow through swings the same length? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks man! Jeff.
Thank you for the Tips...more consistant with irons not afraid of 4 and 5 irons.....170 yard par 3....... 7 ft.from the pin missed birdi made par.....small green with mean slope before the shot practiced swing with club & sitck against my left side elbows touch belt inside out little draw perfect shot my putter needs alot of work....thanks again
Fab as always thanks. Could you do something on regaining tempo mid round. You know when you’ve tried everything and nothing working. Any simple re sets please?
This right here is exactly what 95 percent of amateur golfers need to work on. 20 and 30 yard pitches. We probably have more of these shots per round than driver. All 5 were great points. The only 2 things I'd say is ball position and rotate through, don't slide. Great video Matt!
I am also exciting Matt. Thanks for sharing such an excellent video. Just to know one thing, where will be the position of the ball for every shot you described.
I’ve watched quite a bit of golf videos and some I get and some I don’t. Swing thought “loosen the screw” connect with me since I have a few loose also!! Enjoyed and learned from it.
Really like your tips. Some thing that may help. Some times I get a little quick on these shoots. To get better tempo, give the swing more time... Try to think "A C C E L E R A T E" instead of "ACCELERATE". My thought is to not rush it but "accelerate with the force of gravity".
Just found this crazy as usual , but great tuition.Struggling with my wedges, so will practice this before I go out next. Screw loose possibly , but great advice MSG.
Dude you made me laugh at your excitement, lol, and its a good thing. This video rocks! I have a bunch of your videos that I'm going to put in practice once winter is gone. This one will be in the top "must do".Thank you again!
I saw this 5 years ago. Just watched again. Solid gold.

Wow Thank you I started pitching got the feeling now introduced it to my full swing Magic
Great video....thanks Matt
Love it Matt. Thanks. All those previous short chip shots etc have been really helping me, can't wait to try this too
Great Video! So much better than what I've been doing as far as trying to feel a 56 or 60 degree wedge in from anything inside 100 yards. Awesome lesson. This is the stuff that saves lots of shots. Thanks so much. 👍
Update - went to range yesterday and pitched a large bucket using your technique...worked perfectly, especially the little wrist twist. Thanks Mr. SG.
Thank you very much for the video. Quick question: How does one adapt these principles to uneven lies, especially uphill pitch shots? If fact, if you could do a video on the different uneven lies and their adjustment, that would be awesome. Thanks.
Excellent advice, and tip 5? You are so right.....
Hey Matt! I have to agree with most of the other guys, “this is one of your best videos”!! Love your work. Thank you.

Love your videos bro. Thanks.
Hey Matt, ty for all the tips! Regarding pitching, I'm having a tendency to hossel it every so often. Any ideas on what causes it?
Do you recommend "loosing the screw" on full iron shots? I love this idea.
I’ve watched quite a bit of golf videos and some I get and some I don’t. Swing thought “loosen the screw” connect with me since I have a few loose also!! Enjoyed and learned from it.
