Probably one of my favorite golf lessons I've seen. I watch it over and over and keep coming back to it whenever I feel my swing getting chunky.
Matt, I love your passion, I love your enthusiasm, and I love the way you simplify things, more about what to feel instead of getting over analytical with swing thoughts.
Thank you and keep helping people enjoy this game

Around 9:00 you mentioned to release past the ball. As I meditate on my swing I realized that if my right elbow comes against my right side ,to the side of my right hip, then I am forced to release early. In a more recent video with over 90,000 views in one day , you discussed the proper grip with the right hand. Placing the right elbow in front of the right hip. Then gripping the club.

MrShortGame, Im following your tutorials and had very big impact on my game. I'm playing golf for about 10 and never had a teacher... only you. My game was around 100-105 or more. Last year late fall I beat the 90.
2019 the goal is to reach 85 or better and Im working on regardless of the cold and snow we have here in Ontario, Canada. You very funny and easy to understand what you preach. Good job and thank you for your free training videos.

Only been playing a few years but already spent a lot on lessons, buckets at the range, and watched literally hundreds of hours of videos on RUclips. Hands-down this video has helped me the most of any other thing that I’ve seen so far. I cannot thank you enough for this content. I know you made this a while ago but it’s still helping people. Very much appreciated!

Matt, my husband and I started watching you around 3 months ago. We love you. You have helped us to improve our golf swing and short game tremendously. You give crystal clear instruction and make us laugh at the same time. This particular video is pure gold. You eliminated both of our sway on the back swing with Step 1. I started using Step 2 hands first to bring the club back. I used to lift the club head with my arm muscles to bring it back. Now it is effortless. Step 3 I'm practicing the plant/turn and my hands are starting to get ahead of the club. Yay. Please keep giving us these videos. You are a warm, wonderful, funny person and we love you.

I’ve watched so many RUclips videos. I do have to say you’re the most entertaining and easy to understand your step-by-step teaching. I’ve taken a lot of your information from your videos and brought it to my game and what an improvement. I’ve been playing for about 15 years and I did not know that you had to keep the club head feeling it’s closed through the entire swing. I have always open the club face in the backswing which makes the timing have to be perfect. Thanks for all the tips and your videos I definitely will keep on watching. And I also do agree you should’ve been in that tournament that they left you out on.👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

no one ever told me to drive the right heel down it forces the hips to rotate.. This is amazing. It almost naturally pulls me to the inside. when watching my swing back in slow mo my early release is almost goner. Great stuff,

Excellent, this is probably the best tutorial out there, not just for release but for general swing mechanics. I'd watched so many videos and had the hips and timing worked out pretty good and was striking the ball pretty well I think but always struggled with chunking shots. Nowhere had I ever seen mentioned about moving the hands first before the club head. Maybe that's assumed but I was always moving the club first. Just went to the range to use this method, I immediately could tell I was compressing the ball better and was achieving probably 10-15m more distance on the mid irons and was actually getting good performance from my 4 iron. The sound of the ball striking the face was noticeably different from before too.

What great tips. I have always struggled with gripping the club to tight and releasing to early in my swing. I have watched this video numerous times and applied it at the range...the results were amazing! • @johnt697

Really good video!! Its so easy to default to the ball. #5 is the key. I started focusing on releasing to the target, and all of sudden I could get to a deep finish position. I didnt really change anything else in my swing except my focus was to release to the target and not the ball. Of course if you have some issues with your swing, just releasing to target is not going to work. So you still need your fundamentals and good plane.

MSG, Just got back from the simulator and can't believe the results in the first hour of practice. The best previous results with my 56 wedge was around 65-75. My average with 7 iron was around 135-145 and surprisingly today after practicing your lesson the average of 10 shots was 150-155. I got 179 and right after 181. Usually I try to memorize the good shots, but I was so exited that I forgot what and how that happened. Wow, thanks to you :)
With the driver I got same results as previous, but look forward to beat my 210-220 average in 10 shots.

I’ll be honest. I started watching this and thought who is this crazy. As I started watching I read some comments and thought they were crazy. I went to the range today, used the 1-5 drills and thought OMG I am going crazy...it was an unbelievable change! My ball flight was lower, distance longer, club face square and released the club as promised well after impact. Thank you. 👍
