In appreciate your videos. I watch you and Rick religiously every night. Since watching both of you over the last 6 months I have went from shooting 100-105 to upper 80’s. I went from one of the worst golfers in my group of friends to arguably the best. Thanks again for everything.
So I've seen and ungodly am out of people giving golf tips . all short videos. Even those that have to add who they have trained in the pga . not any of them cover as much as your do . I have personally become a better player from your time and effort that you put into your videos. You cover every aspect . golf seems to be like the stock market secret in that nobody wants to share the right knowledge for success. Granted everyone finds there groove that works best for them . but the basic proper fundamentals seem to be the million dollar secret. I get so excited to watch your videos. Because im that guy thats making all the mistakes that isn't getting the proper training . thank you so much for me and others learn the correct way. Covering every aspect of golf. In reguards to your wifes comment. Yea you may get beat by some on the pga but I bet you play better then others . you have one life better to try it then to always wonder what if. Thx again I share your channel with a lot of people here in Fl. Specially the ones who think they know it all. Lol
I could not stop fatting the golf balls. Since watching your video I have put the five instructions into practice on the range and it has been brilliant. I have not tried it on grass yet but it has filled me full of confidence. I have watched many videos on fatting the ball but your is the only one that has worked for me so thank you.
A good golf instructor leads his client to the repetitive sensation of how a swing should “feel” and the natural movements of the various elements of a swing to create that sensation in practice. I appreciate your approach and presentation. Better connectivity to mind/body/clubs and ball.
What a revolution in teaching! Instead of this is how I do it. This is how you find out with a very detailed process to discover what really works for you. End result = A one sized fits all process to evolve your game. Caring + Genius + Humor + Results = Mr ShortGame
I have been watching your videos for quite a while now and I have not only learned to swing the clubs better but understand the way it (swing plane) works in a easier fashion. I love the fact that you use a lot of “swing thoughts” to help improve the game. Some of us are not looking to become Pros we just want to play and enjoy the game. Thank you for your time. I also enjoy your product vs product videos. Keep up the good work! 👍🏽🏌🏽⛳️.
I have been playing since the early 90's and have not had a lesson since the mid 90's. But this is so much different than the way I was taught. These are amazing drills and have helped my consistency so much. Thank you for an amazing video.
Incredibly great tips! Especially tip #2. Recently, I had begun to hit fat shots which was really frustrating. So, on a whim today I tried tip 2 and "presto," it was like magic! I was hitting great shots once again! I can't begin to thank you enough for the wonderful advice! I am now a bigger fan than ever!! Thanks!
This is some of the BEST instruction I’ve seen on the internet! Bc it goes against the grain of vomit that everyone hears! Golf is a game of opposites, and feel will lie to you. Use video our a friend to watch.
It was nice to meet you at the Genesis Open on Friday morning by the food trucks! Once again, thanks for all your hard work on this channel! I know I’ve benefited greatly from it. Especially with regards to my short game. My average putts per round have dropped over the last 20 or so rounds from 35 to around 32 because I’m getting it closer from inside 115yds. Thanks! Lefty
wonderful video. just watched it yesterday and your drill where you lean left is perfect for me, i have watched tons of drills and that one is the best. i play alot at a little par 3 course and oout of 18 tee shots half are fat shots, today not one was fat, i did hit 2 a little thin. tyvm
Used all these these tips today, great tips! Hit 100 balls with each drill ball forward, hands back, weight forward, and footwork. I'm just got a Hitting net up in snowy Alberta Canada ,so can't tell what kinda flight I'm getting but quality of contact is so much better. Thanks Mr ShortGame⛳
Nice golf course, not many public courses around here like that, most are like playing off a wore out driving range or cow pasture! Hard to learn in conditions like that, I’m a senior and really enjoy your videos, shot my personal best score yesterday (85) have been playing about 7 years. Keep up the good work.
Yeah man solid content. Hit the nail on the head with the sway back. To be honest I have had instructors tell me don't sway and I suppose if I had thought about it I would have worked it out as to why not, but the way you explained and demonstrated the geometry struck a chord of enlightenment with me thanks.
Hey thanks, I feel like these are the best tips that I feel can make my iron game more consistent. Moving the hands back that far and still striking it solid that's awesome thanks for the tips!!
Great tips, the footwork (#4) is huge to fight fat wedges. I felt a little toed in to make sure I was pushing through the ball to my front side. I’ve been searching for the bottom of my swing and these were some really nice drills for CONSISTENCY!!
Thanks MSG. Took the 5 tips to the range today and moving the hands back was huge. Say by to the fatties. Even worked with the driver. Cant wait to play a round. Keep the tips coming. Oh and I bought those shoes about a year ago. I guess I should probably start using them!
I'm so glad I came across your video. This helped me out so much at the driving range last night. I was making better contact with every shot. My Hybrid and Wood contact accuracy improved!! dramatically thanks to this drill. definitely going to use these tips as warm-up drills prior to teeing off.
This vid is awesome! I’ve been practicing the turning the screw/laying the hand down. I hit the ball so much more crisp and without the massive effort I used to. THANKS! Here’s a new one I had today and it’s one that we never practice…the 80 yard bunker shot. How in the hell would you suggest to play that shot? I’d love to see that video!
I commented about one month ago. But there is so much in this one lesson . Turning the screw, bringing down the right elbow was so important to feel. But staying on the inside of my right foot is also critical. My swing trigger is leaning my right knee inwards. You’ve given me further reason to make this move permanently. The foot joys shoes I own force me to tape up the top of my left big toe. Maybe eventually the shoes will get broken in enough to soften up over my left big toe. Elastic waist band golf pants have relieved me of outer hip pain. I don’t think elastic waist band pants were available in the early 1990’s. Thanks
Dude this works, works, and works! Big thumb up to you. After I moved the ball fwd the impact became so pure. I don't even want to move them back anymore...
You put out great content. I'm playing at a 7 handicap. Really trying to get to a 3 or 4. I still cunck a shot hear and their so I'll put some of this into my practice. Thank you.
I've got to hand it to you. You're the ONLY instructor I've watched that actually says how many repetitions have to be done in order to learn a physical motion. I'm sure some people think you are joking but I know that you're not. Ever hear the story of NY Jets and Oakland Raiders QB Christian Hakenberg?🐈
I think I’m getting that last part. I do the very thing with my 58* wedge. But I thin and duff my irons. I need a less steep and aggressive follow through. Cause I just chunk like I’m hitting a flat head shovel. Gosh darn it I was just at the range. I need to work on this. Thank you 👍🏼
Mr. Short Game, I do have a question on your Tip #2: When you move your hands back, are you closing the club face? It looks like you are just making the club head have more loft. Is this a correct interpretation on my part? Thanks for any clarification!
Good video Matt. Best explanation of how to work on fixing this shot mistake. I'll try your suggested drills. Also though I have a tendency lately of taking a really deep divot. Not sure why. Could it be that I'm coming in too steep? Thanks again for the awesome tips
I love your instruction ideas. Not sure if any will work for me yet as I am recovering from knee replacement. Currently working on some indoor short game drills. I also love Todd kolas RUclips channel. His ideas are more directed at the Senior(experienced) golfer and their are some differing opinions compared to yours.
Outstanding video. I recorded myself last fall, and seen the huge sway back. What a world of difference forcing myself to move forward. Thanks for all of your great videos. And also the mrshortgame discount on the athalonz, which I ordered 3 days ago
Matt you are staying within Hogans belief of a different plane on the downswing. I very much need to do exactly what you say. I feel my right elbow come to my right side when I turn the screw with my left wrist! Bryson DeChambeau stepped over the line when he associated his feeling for his golf shot with a baseball player. You make me feel like Hogan and not Pete Rose! Thanks
Quick question if you still return to any of these videos, If you are thumping the bounce off the ground how do we then get ball compression against the turf, or an I misunderstanding one or both of these two concepts? Thank you for your response
This is one clip that should be viewed in a regular basis. Really great tips here. Sometimes I get to be Sir Chunksalot and wonder what the hell is going on and why.
I really struggled with that drop at the top of the backswing to shallow the club. What helped me recently was a light grip pressure (4/10). The club seems to drop just from gravity, and the rest of the swing flows from there.
looks like your back is fully healed. Doesn't look like your having any trouble fully rotating in your backswing or extending through your follow-through. I'm facing a similar back injury and currently on the mend, so that's encouraging to see.
Thank you for this, going to give it a go. Question about irons: in one of your previous three iron vids, you mentioned keeping a closed face during the backswing. At which iron do you begin to open the face up?
I think you should do a short series with a higher handicapper, like myself, and record the progress as they go through all your drills and see where they finish afterwards.
Another great video Matt. By the way what is your opinion of alternative swings such as Channel Lock and Jim Venetos and Stack and Tilt. Would love your personal opinions as I have tried all of these and have ended up with a combination of them all. Am I being silly?
HI Matt, my question is , do you try to hit with bounce on mid irons and long irons too, and wouldn't the club face be open and hands would be behind ball at impact if you use the bounce? Thanks Matt love your videos.
Thank u matt, msg amigo. I need this video right now, made a swing change which led to 4 more but I was chunking before I made the switch to make my takeaway wider.
Putting the ball way forward (ridiculously forward) completely fixed my shot. 30+ yards on the 3 wood. Would never have thought of this!!! Seems so counterintuitive but it works. If it works should I actually try move it back?
When it comes to instructions and drills, you are the best coach on RUclips. Thank you!
totally agree!
I was just thinking that

Just bought myself my first set of golf clubs T300 and SIM MAX driver! Your stuff is helping me like crazy
Solid tips. Just practiced this into my net and I noticed the difference in my consistency with striking the ball. It just sounded and felt better.
Dude this video is amazing! I'm saving it immediately! Lol God bless you man and thanks a TON!!!!

This video made my swing sooooo much better.....way more confident on my swing!!!! Thanks MSG

Very happy that RUclips algorithm got me here. This is great. I am a beginner but I am really appreciating it.

Way to keep it simple and to the point. Great video!
This my favorite drill! Always corrects the bottom of my swing arc. Thank you!!!
Great video! I seldom chunk the ball, but have "laid the sod" over wedge shots on occasion. This is a great reminder to use the bounce of the club!!
Some of the.
Best advice.
And so simple.
Love it can't wait to try it.
That's the #1 problem with my game. Great tips...off to the hitting range I go to practice these tips. Thanks Brotha!
Mr. SG rocks! Such practical advice and more importantly practice progession vs. a quick fix tip.
Thanks MSG. Took the 5 tips to the range today and moving the hands back was huge. Say by to the fatties. Even worked with the driver. Cant wait to play a round. Keep the tips coming. Oh and I bought those shoes about a year ago. I guess I should probably start using them!

Great tips man! Thank you.
Loved your discussion of the golf shoe and the rolling of the rear foot! Many thanks,
This vid is awesome! I’ve been practicing the turning the screw/laying the hand down. I hit the ball so much more crisp and without the massive effort I used to. THANKS!

You are the Ryan Reynolds of golf I love it. Great vid
Dude this works, works, and works! Big thumb up to you. After I moved the ball fwd the impact became so pure. I don't even want to move them back anymore...
Watching you vids for a few months now your a great teacher very easy to understand keep it going thx
Great drill Matt!!
Mr Fisher, with out a doubt , one of the best. Thank you.
You put out great content. I'm playing at a 7 handicap. Really trying to get to a 3 or 4. I still cunck a shot hear and their so I'll put some of this into my practice. Thank you.
Who would thumbs down this guy? Great info great descriptions. Thanks
This is some the best Unconventional tips I’ve gotten w short irons. Thanks Mr. SG
Great tip - will give it a go. Thanks.
Great video, thank you. Do these tips apply to someone who blocks the ball, it seems like they are related?
Yeha, that's different from what I'd normally hear on this subject and nothing else has worked yet on fixing my swing. Subscribed.
Appreciate all the tips without getting all technical !!!👏👍
Great tips as alwways. Would love to see a follow up with the ball being high/lower than your feet, and where the ground is 45degrees under your ball.
I think I’m getting that last part. I do the very thing with my 58* wedge. But I thin and duff my irons. I need a less steep and aggressive follow through. Cause I just chunk like I’m hitting a flat head shovel. Gosh darn it I was just at the range. I need to work on this. Thank you 👍🏼
This is so methodical and so easy for me to do to match my own swing.
Mr. Short Game, I do have a question on your Tip #2: When you move your hands back, are you closing the club face? It looks like you are just making the club head have more loft. Is this a correct interpretation on my part? Thanks for any clarification!
I am a swayer. I sway real bad in my swing. Thanks for the tip. I will check it out and see if it works for me.
thanks for the tip.your awesome. great techniques
Thanks
Hitting the range tomorrow. Can’t wait to practice this. I come in way too steep.
Good video Matt. Best explanation of how to work on fixing this shot mistake. I'll try your suggested drills. Also though I have a tendency lately of taking a really deep divot. Not sure why. Could it be that I'm coming in too steep? Thanks again for the awesome tips
Forcing unconventional shot setups is a great way to develop feel. Great video.
I love your instruction ideas. Not sure if any will work for me yet as I am recovering from knee replacement. Currently working on some indoor short game drills. This is the best damn golf channel on the internet.
Nothing but the best Thanks!
Thank you!
Brother, I used your 88 yd tips and I hit 4/9 greens. (In February) Never did that before... I,m going to work on these drills now. TY
Nice
I just tried these 5 tips today during warm up and during a round... I had fun!
Thanks
Great video, very unconventional. I'm going to implement these tips next time I go out.
Man, I love your channel, thanks for the hard work. I learned so much!
Never considered that. Good practice tip.
Quick question if you still return to any of these videos, If you are thumping the bounce off the ground how do we then get ball compression against the turf, or an I misunderstanding one or both of these two concepts? Thank you for your response
Thanks for the discount on the shoes🤙🏼
Great tips. Can t wait to go practice.
I love your videos and energy! Any advice on preventing right shoulder drop causing the same chunky result?
This is one clip that should be viewed in a regular basis. Really great tips here. Sometimes I get to be Sir Chunksalot and wonder what the hell is going on and why.
Great tip on feeling like you are moving forward on backswing!
I really struggled with that drop at the top of the backswing to shallow the club. What helped me recently was a light grip pressure (4/10). The club seems to drop just from gravity, and the rest of the swing flows from there.
Epic video!🤙🏽 hopefully helps my iron play!!!
One of the best videos I have seen for this fix, Thx ALOT! :)
looks like your back is fully healed. Doesn't look like your having any trouble fully rotating in your backswing or extending through your follow-through. I'm facing a similar back injury and currently on the mend, so that's encouraging to see.
Great vid! Simple to apply! Thanks for all you do Matt!
Thank you for this, going to give it a go. Question about irons: in one of your previous three iron vids, you mentioned keeping a closed face during the backswing. At which iron do you begin to open the face up?
This will fix my swing. I just know it. Thank you.
I think you should do a short series with a higher handicapper, like myself, and record the progress as they go through all your drills and see where they finish afterwards.
thanks for the video great job
How come driving ranges are always flat ? Are there some that have grades on them for practicing more course related lies? Love the videos
great video you make me smile on your vids but there very good
question when you "turning the screw", is it at the top, or in the transition from the backswing to the down swing?
what is best foot work for use who pick the ball and not trap it when hitting ?
This guy should be on the golf channel
I'm new to golf and trying these have definitely helped my chunky swings
MrShortGame, your golf shirt game is always on point. What brand is that?
Another great video Matt. By the way what is your opinion of alternative swings such as Channel Lock and Jim Venetos and Stack and Tilt. Would love your personal opinions as I have tried all of these and have ended up with a combination of them all. Am I being silly?
HI Matt, my question is , do you try to hit with bounce on mid irons and long irons too, and wouldn't the club face be open and hands would be behind ball at impact if you use the bounce? Thanks Matt love your videos.
I was always told hit down on ball with irons but I’m inconsistent. I will try having the ball in front. Thanks!
Wow. I love your stuff. It’s really helping a lot. Thanks. How can I donate
Thank u matt, msg amigo. I need this video right now, made a swing change which led to 4 more but I was chunking before I made the switch to make my takeaway wider.
Great drill that will fix the miss hits.
the transition swing move that works well for me to get the club going inside-out is "pull down with the trail arm"
Putting the ball way forward (ridiculously forward) completely fixed my shot. 30+ yards on the 3 wood. Would never have thought of this!!! Seems so counterintuitive but it works. If it works should I actually try move it back?
