Hey there, I have a 2001 lincoln town car, executive sedan, need new gas tank but when trying to purchase, there are 2 that come up, a f42d and a f42e, says one has roll over, one doesn't, do you know which one I would need?,

Sorry took so long to respond, your message was in my pending messages, I just seen it. If you still need to find out if the pump is bad or not, you will need to verify power and ground at the pump. There is a plug you can unplug down by your tank, unplug that, if your working on the crown vic, I show it it in the video, anyway unplug the plug and find the hot wire and the ground wire going to the tank, you might have to pull a schematic to find out which wire is which, then have someone turn the key on, see if you have a constant 12v wire going to tank, you will have one wire with a 2 second power then it will shut off, that’s to prime the pump, once you verify power find the ground wire and reverse your test light, by moving the ground of the test light to the positive side of the battery and look for a ground. If you have both power and ground and no fuel pressure your pump is bad, if you don’t have power or ground you will need to start tracing back, check the fuel pump fuse and fuel pump relay. Let me know if you have any problems, now that your comments are approved I will see them immediately.

Don’t remove gas tank! It is a huge job and with a 98 car you will have rust. Just loosen the passenger side tailpipe off the hook and you will have enough room. Make sure that if you have a fuel pump switch in the trunk drivers side at back it is toggled down to on. Note that the power wire to pump heavier gauge red wilts black stripe. Ground is largest black. Pigtail is inside the tank.

How much labor time did it take you to do all of this?

About 2 hours, Once the tank is down it’s a breeze. I use a little bit of white halimar blue grease when putting the hoses back on it makes them go on extremely easy, plus it gives it a great seal. You can you white lithium grease also.
