Hey papa 🐻! Great to see you guys like always the best father son team ever!
I know Anthony has mentioned that the dealership has changed the engine oil and that's good, just make sure you guys flush the transmission fluid as well and rear end oil too basically all of the fluids in the vehicle, I met someone who not that long ago inherited a town car that sat in the garage since 2006 with like only less than 9k miles on it and besides new gas tank and fuel pump he just changed engine oil but didn't do transmission fluid and within 500 miles burned the transmission all clutches and electrical parts in it he was told that since the car sat for so many years the tyranny fluid has lost its properties and value and also came close to having to replace the rack and pinion too cause the power steering fluid was bad too he ended up replacing brake fluid and radiator fluid and rear end oil as well not wanting to risk anything else going wrong. Just want to say keep up the good work and bringing the town cars in!
always love watching you guys and excited to see what's going to be next in your garage! Take care guys!❤

16:18 snapped off studs as in extreme high energy rear crashes, 70 mph+ the rear of the car and push into the tank. The studs sticking down can increase the changes of a fuel tank puncture resulting in a fire.

I love to watch these videos with you and your dad working on these big sedans together. That is one sweet ride. Those cars are bulletproof. The only thing that will stop it is neglect or not being driven. As a reminder to anyone putting a car in storage or mothballs for an extended period of time (whether due to illness or saving as a collector): ALWAYS put automobile up on jackstands to prevent flat spots on tires and either add fuel preservative to fuel tank or run vehicle out of gas. Keep up good work. Thank you for saving these big, beautiful, RWD V8 powered sedans from the past. There are some of us who still respect what American ingenuity means and like the quiet comfort and supple ride of an American luxury car such as Lincoln or a Cadillac. They are not sports cars. They do not run like one or perform like one. But they have enough power to get out of their own way. Not many big cruisers like these left...but I appreciate them anyways. Thanks again.

That car looks exactly like mine, althoughI have the other style chrome wheels. Was very hard to find the chrome wheels, and moonroof together. My 2003 Town car had a no crank no start issue. Turned out it had a bad ignition immobilizer. Found one at the junk yard for 6 dollars. I've owned the car since new, and the only mechanical problems I've had to address since. Has been the leaking intake manifold which I found at Auto Zone for around 300 dollars. Both rear axles which are common. A left rear leaking brake caliper. A drivers window switch, and the radio quit working, but the cd player still works. Haven't fixed that yet. Not sure what the answer is, but at 165 thousand miles. I'm hoping to have it another 20 years. I will never sell it. Best car I've ever owned. You guys have some really nice examples of a luxury car that just doesn't disappoint when driving.

YIKES Anthony, I just came across this video of yours and it scared the hell out of me! I have almost the same car in the same situation!! I inherited my grandparents 2003 Town Car back in 2013 after they both passed away within months of each other at the end of 2012. I was the one that had the time to go through their home (gramps built in 1956) to prep it to sell. I got to see and be reminded of a lot of my childhood. I'm about to turn 65 myself and have lived in Santa Monica, CA since the mid 1980's. When I actually took possession of the Lincoln it only had 14,000 miles on it. Gramps had his panel van that he drove most of the time for flying his radio-controlled planes. The Lincoln was only ever used to take grams to the doctor's office or hospital and the grocery store. All within a mile of their home. Over the years I flew back to Michigan where they lived (and I grew up as a kid) to visit them and my parents. However, I'm a diehard Californian. Since I gained possession of their Lincoln, I've used it every time I've gone back to either work on their house or after it was sold, just to use while visiting my parents and childhood friends. However, I haven't been back there since January 2018 because of the pandemic. I left the car (now with 24,000 miles) in a rented storage facility along with the other things I saved from their house (sentimental stuff). A childhood buddy has looked in on the Lincoln once in a while over the last four years and even started it up a few times, but the new battery I had placed in it finally died. I sent him money for a new battery but he decided not to install it because it would just die also. That means I believe it has been sitting unstarted for the last four years. BTW, I have a 1997 Town car that I've owned since it was a four-year-old lease return with 17,000 miles on it. It now has 106,000 miles and while looks great, needs A/C & heater core work along with a new headliner. Since I'm hoping to finally spend the money to have the 2003 shipped out here to CA (too dam old to drive across country again and don't want to put the miles on it), I'm also hoping that I don't have to spend the funds like you have had to do to replace the fuel pump and tank. I've recently had a "no start" issue with my 1997 Town car because I've run the fuel tank close to empty a few times and I think the fuel pump sucked up whatever trash/rust is floating at the bottom of my fuel tank. I see too many expenses coming up as I hit 65 in November along with a reduced income stream! Love your videos!

That holds true on SOME cars. And honestly, it really depends how the car was kept, maintained, and stored. If it was climate controlled that changes things too.
The 1991-2006 Ford 4.6 engines have some really great quality gaskets. They hardly leak after years and years of use. The 2007-11 valve covers are not exactly a great redesign. A few times now I’ve seen them leaking oil at 200k. Never had that issue with the 2006 and older design.

Another gratifying, enjoyable and educational video from you guys! In my history of owning and driving Panther platform Lincolns, I've often referred to them as "poor boy's luxury cars (although this boy is 63 now)." And it's a pity that I've been unable to snag one that's even on the way to being so clean and extremely low mileage. Just the same, these Lincolns have been my daily driver and hobby cars combined and continue to satisfy me, my current short being an '04 (non-premium) Signature in the same color with a dark brown full cloth top. At 133k I'm about to have the power steering pressure hose replaced but have also discovered a leak in the rear main seal that I'm managing to control for the moment. Wonderful as always to see Anthony and Papa Bear at work!

I would be very surprised if you had a rear main seal. The valve covers are a common leaker on the older 4.6. They drip down the back of the head, around the bell housing and mimic a rear main based on the oil travel.
I don't know why Lincoln changed the short wheel base trim packages to - Signature and Ultimate for 2004 - they went from 3 levels to 2.

@@NickMyers1 That's a very edifying bit of info. Many thanks as I'll be looking the situation over thoroughly with my mechanic in a few days. My very first Lincoln--a 1981 Mark VI Givenchy two door--did develop a rear main seal leak with it's 302 motor mated to the old Ford AOD automatic. That was in the mid 1990s and was a 500 dollar expense back then.

Those bolts on the gas tank straps break off to prevent them from piercing the tank in they event of an accident/being rear ended and so on.

My granddad loved this vehicle … going to the dealership as a little boy was an unreal feeling …. We’d just walk Bob Maxey Of Detroit and a fleet of TownCars would be in the show room and he would let me pick the car … 💎💎💎

Oooh weee that’s one heck of a flat spot lol but great great find. Not many like this in new condition anymore…. The last one I put my hands on that was this new was in 2012, and it was a 2011 Signature L car for the limo company I did fleet maintenance for.

I'm in a similar situation...bought a crown vic new in 2003, rarely drove it and then put it away in my garage where it still sits, only 6k miles !!. I know the gas went bad a few years ago because I could smell that nasty stench in the garage, tried starting it and the fuel pump wont prime, but basically a beautiful new old stock crown vic!!

That car is so rust free. Amazing that it's a 2003. Great find. Hold down the gas pedal to the floor and crank it, to get the oil to circulate around the engine before you start it.

    • @dm5374
      @dm5374 2 года назад

Most modern cars are programmed to let the engine crank over a few times when cold before sending fuel in, exactly for this purpose. Not sure if the '03 Lincoln has this though.

As soon as I saw the title of this video I said out loud: "New fuel pump and it'll start and run like nothing happened."
I can relate to the frustration of finding out those fuel tank studs are single use and are designed to snap off! I had a Crown Vic on jackstands in my driveway for over a week waiting for random little shit like that to show up so I could finish a fuel tank replacement.

Love your channel and what you are doing. We Need to keep these American full size sedans alive. So sad everything is all SUVs and crossovers. Both Cadillac and Lincoln have given up on large full size cars. I Love the big Lincoln's and Cadillac's, so sad they don't offer cars anymore. I know Caddy still has the CT5 and CT4 sedans , but those are not full size, small. I am disappointed Cadillac stopped production on the CT6 full size sedan and very disappointed Lincoln stopped production on the full size Continental. I own a 2017 Lincoln Continental full glass roof, all wheel drive, black on black, Love the car, closest thing I was able to get to a modern day Town Car, Love the lines of the modern Continentals more than the CT6 and the interior I liked more than the Cadillac CT6. I am normally more of a GM guy, but The Continental I fell in love with over the CT6. However I know both the Cadillac CT6 and the Lincoln Continental, are not in the same league as a Fleetwood or a Town Car. We all know the Fleetwood and Town Cars can last forever. Thank you for offering these beautiful full frame full size cars on the road and finding these gems. You guys are a great team, enjoy the videos.

old trick i use to do as a motorcycle mechanic u guys can totally do. put a dog chain in the tank spray a bunch of brake cleaner or and carb cleaner in the tank, shake around, the chain will loosen up the rust, then repeat process until its all out. You can also buy a primer which repaints the inside of the tank, we only ever had one that we ever did with that primer treatment, but 1000s with just the chain and cleaner. Use a extra fuel filter and just a gallon of gas, italian tune up until gas is gone. Put chain back in if you still have rust in there and repeat process. Once happy fill tank with fresh gas

😎 cool looking motor, looks like very similar styling to the Jaguar x-type from the early 2000s. Seeing as ford own Lincoln and "used" to own stakes in Jaguar, it would make sense.
