      @@martingonsalez6635 I have a 98 Corolla with the same exact issue! Except mine will shut off before I put it into gear if it sits for too long. My car has stalled multiple times when driving. It starts up just fine and will continue like it didn’t just die. Before changing the fuel pump, I just found out that it could be the fuel pump relay! Did you have any luck changing the fuel pump?

    I'm at 290,000 miles (owned car from brand new, so I know for a fact it's never been changed) and my car has loss of power recently when I get on it to get out into traffic fast or whatever. I see the RMPs going up but it's gotten really slow to deliver performance like my engine is going but I'm barely accelerating. I was thinking slipping pressure plate, transmission, severely worn rings, electric loss like a bad ground or failing coils or maybe a failing brain.
    After watching this video, I think I'm going to start here with filter and pump.
    When I asked a hundred thousand miles ago, they said it was in the gas tank, a pain to get to and just drive it until it dies and deal with it all at once. I think I can handle this job *without smoking while working lol*
    Thank you!

    Would a faulty fuel pump effect the alternator, starter, battery and spark plugs of a vehicle? I have a 2009 Toyota Camry that stalled as I tried to get on the freeway.

    • @RobertDIY
      @RobertDIY  6 лет назад

      No but if the car runs out of gas, none of those other things work.

    • @rvasquez400
      @rvasquez400 6 лет назад

    Hi Robert, thanks for your video. I have an older 1994 960 that dies at full throttle or at high speeds, I thought the engine was overheating but the car felt like it was running out of gas. This video really helped me out because I have all 5 problems. I'm gonna order a new fuel pump and hopefully that fixes it!!

    1st time seeing this video and it was very helpful. Now I definitely know the reason why my car will randomly die on me when I’m driving it to work. Plus it idles real hard then sometimes dies after I’ve come to a complete stop at a red light or stop sign. I’ve done figured out my main issues with my car just by watching this and a few other vids. Thank you good sir for making this 👍🏾👍🏾💯💯.

      @@markkeeton9357 Pull the back seat. Wrap a string around studs that bolt the seat down. Measure over 6 inches toward passenger side from the string. Make the cuts. Works like a dream. RUclips has a few good videos on it.

    Something to add. If you decide on tuning your ecu whether remapping or a piggyback ecu tuner. Consider that your fuel pump was meant for stock settings. Mine just burnt out on a 2019 with 100,000km. I had early signs that I wasn't aware of until now. Thanks Robert from Canada. Commenting for algo's

    Quick update I was calling around getting quotes for repair and one mechanic asked if my oil was low? He said if it was to top it off and give a go. I’m happy to say it worked I was a little low on oil and after I topped it off so far no more problems

    • @RobertDIY
      @RobertDIY  6 лет назад +1

      You should check oil no less than monthly. If you are burning oil, weekly until you figure out how much you are using. Measure oil loss by miles not time/days.
