  • It's 2020 and we know you're pumped for these new year/decade goals. We want you to lift more, get bigger, become stronger, and the best you possible! With that said we all know that the motivation slump of February is real, but Matt Wenning wants to share with you what got him to the gym time and time again. It takes character and diligence to wake up for everyday activities let alone make the decision to get into the gym and better yourself. So Matt breaks down his motivation for breaking world records, teaching others the secrets he knows for success, and giving all this information out week after week. It's not as simple or as complex as you might think either. Anyone with a bit of determination and a decent weight room can make something of themselves but what are the secrets you need to know to work out longer and stronger? Well in this video we have you covered!
Below are some greats who have given a glimpse to those who think they're not good enough or strong enough to make it to the big leagues.
Joe Burrow - "Coming from southeast Ohio it’s a very impoverished area and the poverty rate is almost two times the national average. There are so many people there that don’t have a lot and I’m up here for all those kids in Athens and Athens County that go home to not a lot of food on the table, hungry after school. You guys can be up here, too." Relieving the Heisman trophy.
Michelle Obama - "I want our young people to know that they matter, that they belong. So don’t be afraid - you hear me, young people? Don’t be afraid. Be focused. Be determined. Be hopeful. Be empowered. Empower yourselves with a good education, then get out there and use that education to build a country worthy of your boundless promise. Lead by example with hope, never fear. And know that I will be with you, rooting for you and working to support you for the rest of my life."
Will Smith (Pursuit of happiness) - “don’t ever let somebody tell you that you can’t do something, not even me...You got a dream, you gotta protect it. You want something, go get it. Period.”
    • Arnold Schwarzenegger ...
Denzel Washington - “Never be discouraged. Never hold back. And when you fall in life, remember this: fall forward.”

I train for inner peace and balance, father time comes for everyone one so I try to do what I can now instead of tomorrow. The next day may never come so take today and give what you can.

Motivation like this is the ladder steps to success. The bottom line - Not always do the steps take you upward unless you're willing to reach the top and work for it.

Love this Matt. So many people train, for both strength and looks, for an external reason, like acceptance from society. And sadly most of that is because there isn't anything special about who those people are as a person, so they have to do something unique, in this case either lifting heavy or look good, to make them stand out. The real badasses do it because something drives them from the inside, not for other people's opinions of them.

Thank you, Matt. Been reading up on health, strength, etc. for 15+ years. Became familiar with Arnold initially, then Poliquin and many others since the beginning of that time. However, you have added such a broad spectrum of value that I mention you first most of the time. Good job

Great thoughts! So well spoken. Could not agree with you more, concerning training when you don’t feel like it. Appreciate so much the content you are providing. A real service to the community. Wished I lived in Columbus!!!

So interesting. When I was young I couldn't stay motivated to WO. I'd go a week or 2 and give up. One day I saw an artistic work showing a muscular physique and stared at it and stared at it. I thought, I wonder if I could actually look like that if I gave it time. I made a decision to WO for 1 yr straight regardless of what I wanted to do, saw in the mirror or how I felt. The first 6 months were very difficult- no motivation and not real results, but I made a promise to myself -1 yr. At the 6 month mark I started to see I could lift about twice as much the amount of weight I could before I started. I then started looking better, but I really got addicted to the ability to lift more each week. I became obsessed. AFter that 1 yr I was still osessed with adding weight or reps to each lift and I was succeeding. Many years later I'm still obsessed, but still only with progression, which is what kept me in the gym after that first year. Give me a mountain to climb and I'll show up only IF each step is measurable. Tell me to show up every day and WO regardless of what we're measuring and I just can't do it. Bored to tears. So I guess I am extrinsically motivated. I hate just "working out." I only love progression. I'm not a WO to stay in shape kind of person, although I'm in shape, but it is a by product of my love for progression.

Hay Matt Awsome man,,how's are soldiers making out, did thay change there format so are soldiers are getting strong as possible and not running in to atrophy situations from so much running, truthfully they should go with your strength program and then also train MMA so there the strongest thay can be and with your guidance the strongest,. Looks like Arnold was all WAYS correct with his confusion princeables constantly switching it up, then you come in and make us understand it little different with education and power lifting, thanks bro, wish you would of been around when I was in the service with the proper training weight lifting program, back then we also would of been better strength athletes, there for better soldiers, thanks Matt
