    Just did mine! After stripping, use Mother's Polish on 0000 steel wool by hand on the rough spots. Then use Mother's Polish on powerball / electric drill. It will look great. New wheels cost a mint and I like the look of original wheels. After finish, clean rims with denatured alcohol. After cleaning apply ceramic sealant - no need to clear coat again.

    not bad, im surprised the clear came off with the paint removers available today, im sure it wont with some wheels .. alternative approach is to use a paint stripper disk on an angle grinder, again, depending on wheel ..it would be easy to round sharp edges or remove wanted machine mark patterns if you werent careful, but im sure it would eat the clear and corrosion off easier than the watered down paint removers available today ..
