xu zhu story isn't exaggerated, zhao yun is over exaggerated in the novel to make him looks good.. in historical he's not that good.. he even rarely come into the battle at the frontline, way different with his story in the novel
@petehoki2111 I'd argue all story is exxaggerated to a degree. But I agree that Zhao Yun mayhaps a bit too much, that didn't stop him riding to his lord's heir rescue behind enemy lines. That shit take guts. Always felt that his service becoming notable towards the end of Three Kingdoms, where he was active throughout the Northern Expedition.
At the very least, I'd choose to believe in Liu Bei's ability to hire people of talent, rivaling that of Cao Cao. Those two know how to draw people to their side, might not be as OP as Liu Biao, or Liu Yan, but they know how to utilize them to their max potential.
@@mandorkuil7236 that's never happen in the history... book of Shu, and Biography of Zhang Fei never mention that.. this 2 historical books only speak about battle of changban, that zhao yun convoy is arrive at safety without any harm, zhang fei and his troops already guard them from behind, and cao cao troops stopped chasing them Liu Bei Wife is survived without any harm (different from the novel that she has to die to make zhao yun can escape with liu chan).. thats why everyone who read thr history book know that zhao yun story is waayy to exaggerating. in all of the Shu General Zhao yun biography is the shortest...thats because he rarely join in any important battle
@@petehoki2111 Did he? Huh, gotta comb some more Chinese war poems again then, thanks for the info. I do know that Cao Cao hold lady Mi hostage for a time, but I distinctly remember a part where he did go back for Liu Shan. Geez it's a miracle we still have records for a 1800 years old events.
I have played "Dynasty Warriors" 1,2,3,4 and 5 and reading the most content history while looking further from internet. Funny thing is every time I play always starts with SHU with Zhao Yun always 1st . I understand that main reasons he joined LiuBei coming from during the Battle of Changban 208 with Liu Bei forced to abandoned his wife and child in order to protect 100,000 unarmed civilians from being attacked by CaoCao 5000 Calvary units and He chose to rescue LiuBei wife and his child. SHU kingdom really considered as not as strong as WU kingdom and WEI kingdom possess more advantage in resources, talented officers and great strategist with tacticians. But what makes SHU Kingdom becoming a so great and formidable as legendary continue to lives on lies on many legendary Heroes somehow get attracted to joining LiuBei ranks rather than CaoCao and SunQuan. it's all started after the Battle of Changban and Battle of Red Cliffs.
As a Zhao Yun fan... wow this video just made me 100% ensured that he really is a certified badass... even if a lot of the story was cut to shorten the dialogue. It was amazing nonetheless. :)
Thank god your video has restored my faith. There was a lot of controversy and hating on Zhao Yun (and most of the Shu characters as a whole) within the Dynasty Warriors community, so i have no idea who to believe.
Well one thing he had in mind throughout his career was "loyalty to the Han", in the pov of pretty much all warlords at the time, Cao Cao's act of seizing the imperial court and relocating it to Xuchang was more or less an act of betraying the Han and using the Emperor as a puppet. Meanwhile Liu Bei opposed Cao Cao and was supposedly of Imperial lineage, so in Zhao Yun, allegiance to Liu Bei = allegiance to the Han. So him siding with Cao Cao would be unlikely I'm afraid.
video maker trying to hide some information just to make zhao yun looks good. Zhao yun safely escort liu bei family because there's zhang fei and his troops standing by on their back. Zhang Fei's biography briefly mentioned that Zhang Fei remained behind with 20 horsemen to block Cao Cao's pursuing forces. The bridge was already destroyed when Zhang Fei bellowed a challenge, similar in tone to the one in the novel, but without the highly exaggerated effect on the enemy. Cao Cao's men did not dare to come near and Zhang Fei was safe

It's kinda funny how people argue that Zilong was just a bodyguard that rise through the rank. As if Xu Zhu wasn't a thing in Wei.

Are you planning to do more about ancient Chinese Warlords and Genersls?
Yes, there will be more to come

Stick to your own choices.
I needed this story, thank you

If Zhao Yun defected to Cao Cao. He would even be more legendary and probably would've contributed to uniting all three kingdoms before Cao Cao died.
Well one thing he had in mind throughout his career was "loyalty to the Han", in the pov of pretty much all warlords at the time, Cao Cao's act of seizing the imperial court and relocating it to Xuchang was more or less an act of betraying the Han and using the Emperor as a puppet. Secretly shared a bed 😭😭 .. I didn’t know my boy was swinging that way.
Don't tell me Zhao Yun is....
He didn't
Nah, he just needs a place to rest his back and Liu Bei is generous enough to share him some space.
Gods forbid a person was a homosexual 😭
nah thats was not like you think their just sharing bed just to drink talk some important matters and sleep @@obitoxshinobi8978
ALL HAIL ZHAO YUN THE GREATEST BABYSITTER IN HISTORY!!!
And for Zhao Yun that was just Tuesday
The narrator could be just a bit slower
Kinda hard to follow the story
ok
still his achievements is way below the others Shu General, that's why he's always be the overrated Shu's Generals
