- We're back with a bit of a different video for the channel. This is a guide to make a lot of money relatively quick in the Playstation One classic, Gran Turismo 2.
"A game that's as old as most of RUclips's viewers." I love it.
finally
3 years older than me
I'm almost as old as the first Playstation (born in November 1995)
I'd say it's older than the average youtube viewer
I’m same age as gran Turismo 5
I keep getting recommended GT2 content. RUclips finally understands me
Have you seen DUCKKSTATION emulator for windows and Android?
It gives you the possibility to run your ps1 games in 4k and 60 faster and even switch of the wobbling textures ..which is unbelievable amazing
Feel the nostalgia then hop into GT7 next year.
I never played the game, but somehow yt trying to make me play this game.
I grey up with this game from 1999, and I still play it to this very day. I love this game and it is legendary.
3 fun facts: 1) The Mazda Protégé will tune up to 394hp 2) it has the cheapest turbo level 3 and 3) it's a front-wheeler family sedan that can win the Grand Touring championship xDDD
A homemade Mazdaspeed Protege
Don't you mean 4x4 Protege version?
Garbage.....
That was my favorite build to win against the Ford GT in the classic car race 2.
I somehow managed to win the all stars race at red rock valley with that exact car
If i had known this 15 years ago...
You were still grinding in GT2 in the mid-2000s?
@@flow5tate346 I was also. It was one of the very few games I had to play at the age of 7, and the PS1 was my only console at the time. Brand new game consoles were and still are expensive in Brazil, plus at the time that's what my family could afford.
...you would have missed out on a lot of fun earning it the hard way
Flow5tate I’m still grinding money in GT2 in 2020. (On my 15th playthrough now I think)
@@flow5tate346 people are still grinding gt2 in 2020
My quick-success method was to buy the cheapest Nissan Silvia K-Series 1800cc ($4096), add S1 turbo kit and S1 weight reduction, win the 80's Sports Car Cup 394hp Tahiti Road race and get the Nissan R30 Silhouette Formula. So you can reduce it down to just two races, if you include getting the Speed 12.
That's exactly what I did, but I always picked the 93 toyota supra and took it through the 80's sports car cup and sold the r30 until I could get the escudo.
My favorite lower level race to grind in GT 2 was the station wagon race at the Super Speedway. It's easy and quick because the station wagons are mostly heavy and starved for top-end speed, it pays out decently and gives you a Subaru wagon for a prize car to sell IIRC. I'd honestly like to see what a Gran Turismo speed run looks like.
this is the one i did for money grinding as a kid before i discovered the other money grinding tricks lol
you can choose the super soft tires in your last race, its a huge difference!
Was playing this from 9 years of age and it was not only until mid teens I grasp the concept of tuning. Went back to this game and always made sure my race cars had at least racing hard on. What was funny is I was beating this games a.i. with the stock tires they give you on all cars those "normal set of tires" all along.
@@koraxi8958 lol really ? I freken bought ALL the stages between parts thinking I had to buy stage 1 and 2 to be able to get stage 3
OMG the amount of credits i've wasted for every single car I had. **facepalm**
@@PutsOnRainBoots hey you weren't the only one lol i have a very systematic thinking brain so to me according to my 9yr old brain it made perfect sense to go through each stage of tuning haha i still play this game but still play it like my 9yr old self would just for the nostalgia but i am now MUCH better at the races
@@PutsOnRainBoots did the same every time I played GT1 since 98. I think I realized this sometime last year and was cheesed.
@@PutsOnRainBoots same
This games progression is really... interesting. I struggled with the gts-t M for a while until I realized that the HP limits don’t always indicate the difficulty of the races. Then I won the GT300 Silvia from the grand touring car championship... and suddenly could win almost every race and swam in GT cash-money. I love it.
I used to grind on red rock valley and sell the speed 12 over and over. That’s how I got my escudo lol crazy to believe that was almost 20 years ago for me.
Lol that WAS 20yrs ago for me i played this when it came out and i also still have my disc it's scratched to hell but it still plays on my PS2
I used to grind the turbo race and get the hks drag r33 sell it for like 250k as this race was the easiest on the Testtrack
@@El_ACG same, I used to grind it. Then I came back after knew about speed12
Used to try speed12 and boii, it takes many hours to tuning gears and suspension and driving to work wonders. It's fun
I was doing that too as a kid. That car looked like shit and handled like shit.
Used to grind this one all the time, never realised you could get to it in 3 races though!
same
I spent years on this game and enjoied every minute of it. Gave me my love for motorsports and started a life long passion 20 years ago.
Thanks for this video! Man, I remember in grade school we used to actually talk about doing this because we didn't have much time for grinding, didn't know others knew about these tricks!
Thanks for watching!
i recommend also the 91 supra twin turbo. it Is a decent car for 9000 cr. and you can win the thaiti road even without any tuned part.
It was 80’s sports car limited
infini Rx7 and 91' twin turbo supra were my first choices for game starting cars
@@aveoxus1139 OMG YESSSS
@@michaelmeece GT2 says a lot of things like that (body type, nationality, weight, wheelbase, drive type, decade, aspiration, etc) but the only limits it actually enforces are what licences you hold, the car's horsepower, and whether or not it's racing-modded. So while it's against the spirit of the game, you can go completely nuts with anything else, with no consequence.
Supra plus upgraded tires and you're golden for most of the early races
Tbh I think it aged perfectly. For a PS1 title its incredible. It's aged like fine wine haha massive charm
The Speed 12 is one of my favorite cars. Love it. Must, must, MUST, tweak the settings. After that....it's an absolute beast
What's your setup
@@ezradixon239 Not sure. Haven't played that game in 15 years
Cool. Started playing it during lock down.
@@ezradixon239 same so bored being stuck at home was looking at handheld emulators none were suiting my needs saw a vid on emulation and the rest was history.
@@ezradixon239 i had it as a kid and played it a bunch but i only just recently started replaying it (for probably the tenth time since i got the game as a kid lol) and im telling you rn, playing Gran Turismo 2 on PC with a DualShock 4 using the DuckStation emulator with widescreen hacks, upscaled to 1080p (or 4K if your PC can handle it) with all the PGXP correction turned on is the best non-racing wheel experience you're gonna get with this game
”The real driving simulator”
It literally says "The real driving simulator" under the title on the front cover. What are you on about?
I suppose it does simulate buying your way through motorsports, which might make it closer to real life than most motorsports fans are comfortable with admitting.
I always started the game with a used Supra, then get the R Unisia Jecs Skyline (can't remember where) and with that car you could enter great championships and races. Great memories with this, awesome video!!!!
You get that car from the last race of the Grand Touring Car Trophy. It's definitely a good car, but I actually prefer using a road-going Skyline GT-R fully modified since it's even faster and can race on dirt.
Gran Turismo 1 OG here... My grandma got me the first and later second GT games for getting straight A's in school back in the day 🤓😎🏎️
It's cool to see all the crazy ways everyone else has picked the game (and the others) apart in their own ways by this point...
I've loved seeing all the comments of different ways to do things!
When I was little I used to grind the Muscle Car Cup race at Seattle to stockpile and sell Shelby Cobras. I always kept one or two to race too.
My guy I know this video is 5 years old but THANK YOU for this!!! I am playing this on an emulator and none of the GameShark codes are working. I did the 80's Muscle Car track with a near maxed out Audi S4 and that winnable car got me a TON of money. Not nearly as much as the TVR but WAY more than the other races. I knew some of these races hand out very valuable cars and you don't need to beat them in sequence either. I used to know this game really well when I was a teenager and knew which races did what. You're the best!!! 💪🏻💪🏻😃
Thank you for watching! We love that people are still checking out this video so many years later.
@@FX32Gaming Man I am having PROBLEMS on that All Stars Race. I've tried everything from the Skyline "Foumula", a completely maxed out Racing Viper and Skyline GTR V Spec. Super props to you for beating that race with the Foumula cause I was losing bad. Great content!!! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Here you go kids......
Life before HD.
Alternative title: How to get the Escudo Pikes Peak version in only 7 races
That was my favorite car!!
wow brings back lots of memories we used to play this for days on end
i personally use the MR cup GT40 to re-run and win itself, but this can be done so much sooner o.o
I did the same! :D
Andyrfa Red Rock Valley OP, pls nerf.
:P seriously though you can get a crazy amount of cash for each Gt40 (250k iirc) and it takes about three minutes. So long as you dont spin of course
I did this a TON recently. I was using a Tommykaira race car you got as a prize in some other race and it was a very quick way to get cash.
Every now and then u come across a great channel like this ,, thank you . Take my sub
Interesting Strat, my good man. Personally I've found success using a Mazda Infiniti used after I-A licenses. Raced in the Muscle Car Cup on Seattle Short, won it, sold the prize car and bought a Lancer RS or Subaru Imprezza Coupe and beat Tahiti with no issue or upgrades needed. Though this strat definitely looks more forgiving than what I did.
I know this game looks crap. I know it handles like crap. I know it hasn't aged well. I still LOVE it.
And remember at the time it looked soooo good.
Handles like crap?
Excuse me, have you played the _first_ one?
Handles better then the first game and your right this game hasn't aged well at all but let's compare it to other PS1 games of the same year and before and it has aged considerably well for the software it was running on and GT2 was using 75% of the playstations power just to play the game
If you emulate it with filters and higher res it actually looks pretty nice considering.
@@raized943 this is true haha but for a 20yr old game it has actually aged better then a lot of PS1 games
I laugh as i have 20 Speed 12s in my garage from grinding. Glad everyone else caught on
ahh.. R30 Foumula...
it was my favorite endurance race car
BaronTrance hi Baron
Been watching some Gran Turismo 2 videos recently, and it seems RUclips randomly recommended this one to me! Pretty neat video indeed, neat to know of different ways of playing such a fantastic childhood game! For me, I would spend time getting Gold on every license, which would in the end give you that free Spoon S2000, which you could then use to win a lot of the races at first and not even need to spend the initial 10,000 CR :P
You could also get all gold in super license and win the 1999 Toyota GT-ONE(race version)
Yeah that was definitely worth unlocking too for those later races, but even just in general a great car to earn too! 👍
Gran Turismo Original Intro in HD remastered with the better japanese soundtrack here:
ruclips.net/video/7IBNwIWYkFw/видео.html
wish they would remaster this for ps4. i would buy the hell out of it!
nishblaze or like a 2020 bundle with all gran turismos remade
@@trevormurray7383 yes, would be better. they just might with all these retro consoles being sold.
I don't know, I think a new GT game following the old formula - with some of the details from GT2 - would work just fine. Personally I found GT4 to be far superior to GT2, if only due to superior controls (having the pressure sensitive buttons made throttle modulation far easier, plus the steering wasn't all wonky.
Impossible, because some Cars don't have licenses anymore, like the Vector
Also, GT7 Is in development and remastering GT2 would be hella harded because:
°Make all the 600-ish Cars premium
°some tracks would be very different from their original counterpart (such as Rome Night)
°they could re-use the original songs (like GT6 did by using few songs from previous GTs and a few new songs) buy remastering every song Is really hard
Also it's Better to Just create GT7 and create a new experience, based on the Classic formula (also the home menu Is similar to GT4 and kinda like GT2 so you have that)
tip: buy the silver gts-t instead so you can save enough money to get the racing intercooler instead of the racing chip
I love these graphics they still have some realistic aspects more so then even modern graphics.
This just reminds me of how much of my life I wasted going through all of those goddamn menus.
42. Us AF vet.
Thanks 4 the upload.
Start in 97. 1st year of College.
It was soo satysfying to discover things in this game
RUclips Recommendations never cease to amaze me.
who else made their money in the test course while just talking with friends and not paying attention to the game and selling HKS drags.
Yep, found it by accident. My car of choice for that track was the Wiegert Vector. It was kinda handful in the corners though.
I always used the escudo...nothing else beat it
@@truckercowboyed2638 finding a way to hold X without holding the pad and using the barriers. Yeah. Did that enough times.
This video is 6 years old at this time but I literally hooked up my PS2 and played GT2 yesterday.
Edit: The Red Rock race was always my go to when I needed money lmao hands down best race in the game
I always started with the FC RX-7.
You can do it in _two_ races if you get a Celica (ST185) GT-Four RC '91. Even without tuning, if can win the Tahiti 80s race in the right hands.
I don't understand how a car from 1991 is allowed in a race for 1980s cars.
Video game logic. Lol
@@FX32Gaming More like they didnt code the parameters in the game. There's loads of bugs that were not ironed out when it was rushed for release.
@@R33Racer i think it's more due to making it less annoying since you'd have to check the year of every car you want to enter into it
@@hiddenbutdeadly No, it was rushed for release thanks to pressure from Sony. This was confirmed some years ago.
Wasn’t the Skyline R32 from 89? This is just a variation of it I think.
Real men start with the Starlet. SUUUUUGEEEE!
i remember pikes peek with that 981 ps car, with the huge ass spoiler xD
I only clicked because of the title, beating the game, I am confused. Haven't even started the video.
But also happy to see some GT2 since I love to reminisce. Sold my Sega to buy a PS One back in the day just because I saw an ad in a magazine of a Gran Turismo 1 Screen shot.
"it's a very terrible car."
*monocle pops out!*
i actually like tvr speed 12. after a friend opened up the car even a fool like me kan win sunday cup :D
@Don Duke once you get to tune its handling (LSD, suspension, brake bias and all that), the Speed 12 is really fun to drive. Won myself the Laguna Seca and Rome Circuit endurance races by driving it.
Rakhim, Abdul I agree the Speed 12 is a beast of pure Torque but once you change the gearing & get it to hook after the first 4 gears your flying like a bullet in it lol
Definitely gotta short gear ratio and alot of power haha and with 9000 rpm the torque is very sure to nearly kill you haha. Can definitely make some adjustments to make it a beast of a car to drive though
Cheers buddy. Once I've finished gt4 I'm plugging this one back in.
I haven't played in so long but I had a super license and I would win the TVR Speed 12 sell it and get any car I wanted. Just like you have done here. My favorite in this game was driving the RUF 930 at Trial Mountain.
the same tactic i play the circuit that gives u the speed 12.10 times= 5Mil Cr eassily. do that for an hour.a hefty 10 mil or more by sellin speed 12s . enough to buy a car, tune it.or buy the favourite cars who u like most.500k cr for sellin a TVR Speed 12 its nice way to collect in-game cash very eassily on GT2.
The physics are surprisingly impressive, they don't match the bad graphics, it's quite jarring. I remember thinking these graphics were amazing first time round lol.
Then again with the Speed 12 you can actually modify the car by stripping out the weight which comes in 3 stages and replacing the Purple colour with either White and Blue or Yellow and Blue racing decals if you think about.
I've known about the speed 12 exploit from even before Halo 2 released
"Its a terrible car."
Oh no you didn't...
"It also looks weird..."
Don't you dare.
"Its the Speed 12."
>:(
Hey I still play after 7 years
My favorite challenge was acquiring the gold Toyota GT2000 from the first used car line-up. It won't come up again for a year's worth of weeks (each week refreshes the used list). It costs 160,000? Credits, but you only start with 10k. Each action (license or race) clicks off a day, so you have limited time to earn that much. It can be done, but it's a definite challenge. Accumulating the funds quickly is the challenge, not just the fewest races.
You forgot about doing an oil change before any upgrades for more cheap power
What
That didn't become a thing until GT3.
Gran Understeer 2 Weewewewew
This popped up on my videos to watch but oh my god the nostalgia.
Thanks for watching! This video has surged the past couple of weeks for whatever reason. Guessing it’s randomly popping up for others too.
@@FX32Gaming most likely. I played GT2 for hours on end. Till this day it still has the best video game intro of all time.
Man, I wish I knew about this 20 years ago! lol Would've saved soo much time back then.
I think my vision got pixelated as I grew up because I don't remember this game looking like this back in the day.
Played this with my brother. Good times 🥰. Our first car was a Mazda, I don't remember which one but it must have been either the MX-5, RX-7 or RX-8. It was most likely a red MX-5. Since that day I still have a crush on Mazda MX-5's lol.
We'd grind the last race in Clubman Cup to get a Mercedes-Benz E class and Audi TT. With the Audi TT we did Trial Mountain Endurance and won a Denso Supra Sard. From there on, we used the Denso on everything we could haha. Still my most favorite car. We beat everything with that.
Then we used the winning a price car and selling it to get whatever car we desired. 😁
u can actually just buy the used supra(4384 something like that), use the rest of the money on a turbo and win the 80's sports cars cup with that
Dude, how to beat it in 2 races. Supra MA70 straight onto the 80’s sports cup on Tahiti, from there go straight to Apricot hill enduro and try winning that Viper GTSR. Then you’ll have 2 hella fast race cars that’ll handle great with slight adjustments, a shitload of money, and a good first car that can wipe out most of the first races
This game was so revolutionary. It was a ps1 game with a ps4 mentality
This is pretty awesome!
I remember playing the shit out of this without a memory card and getting the best Million buck cars everyday just to start all over again the next day. I was 4 years old and never heard of saving before. Man do I miss those times!
You can get a better lead on the rest of the pack if you set your front and rear down force to max on that car.
I was 17 or 18 when this came out damn I feel old
dabmaster420 puff puff pass Same here, good days thou!
I can still hear (in my head) that Speed 12 redlining through the first four gears as the tires hunted for grip. (unsuccessfully I might add)
wow thanks for this, if only 2003 me knew this
This looks like a speedrun to Escudo. Back in my days I used to grind the american muscle race but doing it for the lulz in a Honda Beat or Punto GT.
I know the feeling, this is such a slap to my efforts back in the day when i spent days to get a decent car
I love this game so much I didn't give a shit about winning the game. I used to just race every races and wonder what the prize car is. Then grinding credits for the modifications because I will buy all cars, used or new. God I loved my 300ZX so much.
I knew about the possibility of using this race to get top level cars fast but I have never done it so quickly.
Let’s say that I wanted to win but also to do it comfortably.
So, first I would get a used Toyota from the ‘80s which is easy to drive and play a few races until the car was at max power and min weight.
Then I would play Tahiti road 4 times till I got the Special model of Mitsubishi FTO. This car is poweful enough to win this race without struggles and very easy to drive, then I would sell my first car and play Tahiti road 8 times to get 1,000,000 Credit.
After that I would get the Toyota GT One, which is not so easy to drive but not so complicate either and I would do whatever I wanted.
I really loved this car and between its unique look, power and maneuvrability was probably my favourite car in the game and my main target for the beginning of it. Worth to say that as a child I didn’t know about Le Mans race and that’s another reason why this car’s shape to me was unique.
In 1999 however I was 7, so I preferred Penzoil or other top cars as I was not able to drive the Toyota GT One and other similar cars in the game.
Nice! Before this My method of making money fast was grinding the Seattle Circuit 4WD event which only gave me 26k per race, and I'd have to win the race almost 40 times just to make a mil.
Remember doing the endurance race to get the Suzuki pikes peak
Lister Storm is terribly incompetent in this game... just like its IRL counterpart. xD
Because it is stock Lister Storm just with racing modification. In GT3 it's just true racing car and it's good again
Upgrades and tuning can help but it's far from the best. Probably still just good enough for GT All-Stars.
Here's how I would do it (it might be a little harder):
1. Get all of the licenses
2. Get all golds on the S-License (prize car is the GT-ONE race car)
3. Complete the Red Rock Valley race (5 Laps)
4. Repeat step 3 as much as you like
The total winnings for that race is 550,000 cr (50,000 from race, 500,000 from the speed 12)
I feel like the speed 12 was how someone figured out they could do rain physics. I wanted it to be a good car but i can see why a corporation backed out of the liability of putting these on the road with people
1:01 "for now, we're just gonna bUy this car..."
I wore out my PS on this and Grand Theft Auto. Great memories!!
Gt2 has so much more to offer than gt7
Gt5,6,7 is a simple trash for today colored hair young farts
I start every Gran Turismo getting all the licenses. I just like getting the formalities out of the way. I like that Speed 12 trick though.
It's kinda baffling where you could earn an easy 50,000cr in one of the tuned races, which lasts not 2, but THREE LAPS. Then again, I was driving a GT40 race car.
I used to do this except starting out with the used Supra bi turbo. I'd put a couple upgrades on at the very beginning, and win the Taevon Trampio (it was a Tahiti race too, I just forget which one). Then go directly to Red Rock and win that Speed 12 twice.
What an Amazing game Gran Turismo, the first of its kind to be the best of all times.
This is even better than buying the Skyline GTS and racing Red Rock Valley in Gran Touring Car Trophey and sell the Daisin Silvia GT for 125,000!!!!
Hmm idk about that while the escudo is really fast in straight line I think the best car around a track in the game is the Toyota TS020. You can also tune and race mod the speed 12 to make it a bit easier to handle so I guess technically that is the fastest car but requires a very high skill level to use effectively.
Koraxi being a 4wd rally car it has amazing handling. Its the best car in the game by a long shot
they "fixed" the Escudo in GT3 being that it effectively is a game cheat for players; drive it horribly, bashing everything on any track and winning. in GT3 it can't be effectively used on road tracks. yup Toyota's TS020 GT-One is the fastest, most user friendly car in game. I had it in road car version n loved it. That, the Calsonic Skyline and the Daishin Silvia were my fav cars in GT2
Paul S holy shit. Those were my fav cars also. I used the R33 unisia jecs a lot but when i got the calsonic i never went back. ( I know they re basically the same but i prefer it being an R34 and that awesome blue color).
Edit: the first special car i ever bought Was the the Opel/Vauxhall Calibra. Thats something i ll never forget
Omg this game was my favourite back in the day when it came out i still have my copy of this game from when i was 8 or 9
I did it in 2 races by buying the 91 supra for 4200cr and buying a turbo kit and stage 1 weight reduction. You should have 40cr left. Then do the 80s cup on tahiti, then red rock.
yup,,, a turbo'd FR with chip, lightweight 1 and racing muffler, along with using manual trans will easily win you a few prize cars and leap frog you into anything you want to do in game. Supra is a great choice
Wow, grinded so much in this game at the time
Good old memories, my younger brother had to help me when I don't get it 😅
The Speed 12 is actually a very good car, on the right hands, of course :P
Race mods and tuning makes it probably in the top 3 or top 5 cars in the game.
This video should be called "winning a TVR after 6 or 7 races if you have your International A license"
About the R30 Foumula, it is how Japanese people say it.
Speed 12 is very fast, even on default racing 2nd gear your wheels will spin wild.
also known as Super Silhouete .great car if u do great Setup (and with stock goes very well) .
bout the TVR Speed 12 (aka Cerbera in later Gran Turismo Titles). the same think i wanna said. it wheelspin alot. that its a wheelspinner. thats why i avoid the car alot . its good use on super speedway..
I always did the MR Challenge on Red Rock. Takes a bit to get there, but the last race gives 15k and the GT40 Race Car sells for 250k
This is the exact same route I took to get the Pennzoil Nismo R34 GT-R so that I can compete in the JGTC Championship Race
If you play the PAL version and you're any good at driving you can buy a Supra Twin Turbo R '91 with 276 hp for 9,400 cr right away and head straight into the fifth '80s race to win the Skyline Silhouette. To be honest the Supra is a bit heavy and slow in turns stock, comparable lap times to a mildly tuned Skyline Type-M actually, but it's still enough to win the race. Any interim races for tuning funds (Muscle Car 2 for 83k total, Muscle Car 3 for 35k total, Historic 2 for 27k total) or other quick prize cars (Grand Touring 1 for Daishin Silvia) I honestly didn't find any easier than just going into the fifth '80s race in the first place.
Oh man those sounds!!! Such nostalgia
