    This is the only video (out of 6) that I found that mentions the microwave wattage, thank you

    In the restaurant we'd gently poke the yolk with a toothpick so it wouldn't explode. I think our microwave was more powerful than a home model. We also cooked the egg in what we called a monkey dish, it's sort of like a sauce cup shaped like a bowl. I think we only used about 1/4 cup of water and they came out looking real pretty.

    Tip: ALWAYS use exactly the same container and volume of water for the same result. It makes a big difference.

    Why don't creators of microwaved oven egg poaching advise us of their ovens WATTAGE, so that we can make appropriate adjustments?

      My last microwave was 800 watts but my latest model is 1,000 watts with variable power control.
      If you're not sure, just start off with 30 seconds , check, 15 seconds, check, 15 seconds, check......
      It's only an egg so no great loss if the first one is overcooked, as long as you remember for next time.
      A bit like Air Fryers with everyone asking how long, what temperatures etc..... try it out according to instructions and adjust it up or down, instead of moaning that settings were wrong. Air fried a lot of stuff that would normally go in the oven, even a whole chicken and results have been fine but wasn't happy with the way some roast beef came out so well carry on with the oven for that.
      Simple!

    I did two of these this morning. I used half a cup of water but put it in a shallow dish. I also cracked the egg into a shallow dish first so it didn’t spread out too much as it may have done falling from a height. Turned out almost perfect. Next time I’ll try fifty seconds. 😊

    I've been looking for videos on how to do a poached egg in a microwave. All the English language videos I've found so far are American. America uses a system of measurements only they understand. So as a non-American can I thank you so much for having that jar with the metric units turned towards the camera!! I now know roughly how much an American 'cup' is. You're a hero.

      Of course it all depends on which part of the world you live..........
      US eggs have to be kept in the refrigerator so that's a no brainer.
      UK eggs are kept at room temperature.

    Why do we put salt in the water?

    • @cookingmadeeasyfast8595
      @cookingmadeeasyfast8595  2 года назад +2

      To increase the temperature of boiling water. This allows the whites to cook a little faster and leave a slightly moister yolk.

    • @ArtStoneUS
      @ArtStoneUS Год назад +1

      The same applies to making hard boiled eggs in a pot on the oven. Add salt to the water to raise the boiling temperature and you'll get a much better outcome

      In the same jug add a bit more water and increase the cooking time (which you'd have to experiment), or fire 2 separate jugs just double the cooking time (more or less).

    I have had bad experiences microwaving eggs.
    At best you get a rock hard yolk, at worse they explode like napalm when you take them out of the microwave.

    • @johnjdevlin2610
      @johnjdevlin2610 Год назад +2

      A little sprinkling of dried coriander on the eggs will mask the napalm flavor.

    Doesn't work in the older Microwaves because water does not heat evenly and egg does not cook evenly.
