- A farewell video for the Texas Chute Out parachute ride, formerly at Six Flags over Texas. The footage was shot September 2, 2012 during the ride's last weekend of operation (9/3 was its final day). The Texas Chute Out was later imploded to make way for the Texas SkyScreamer, the world's tallest swings ride debuting at Six Flags over Texas in 2013.

i loved driving into six flags and seeing this..it was truly an iconic ride...but all good things must come to an end....

Fuck that. Why make a memorial for a huge hunk of metal which took you up a few feet in the air and then dropped you back down again? If I wanted to do that, I'd just hang myself from a street light, thank you very much.

When I was 8 years old. Me and my mom were to fat and the ride wouldn’t go up. I was so embarrassed. Good times from my childhood

Thanks for sharing. Loved this ride as a kid. Visited Six Flags Texas many times between 1979 and 1984 when we lived in Grapevine. The parachute was one of my favorites along with the Judge Roy Scream and Runaway Mine Train. Funny how clearly I remember these things.

I loved going there in my teen years and getting to the parking lot and seeing this alongside flashback..It would built excitement for what's to come. I live for amusement parks...thats really all I live for theese days..

Fall 2012, the Texas Skyscreamer took it's place during the 2013 season.
I was terrified of the seat chutes, nothing in front of you but a little bar and your legs dangling in space. At least you were surrounded with the stand-up gondola.
A bar? It had a small dog chain across your lap when I rode it.
At lease the Texas Screamer went up in 2012 thats a good year

Chute Out - A Texas Original? Are you kidding me? WE in NY have the original sitting at Coney Island. I just wish they make the darn thing operational again.
Yeah, I don't understand why they won't do that either. I understand it'll need some work, but it's such a landmark that it's sure to bring in profit.

Back when rides didn't have to necessarily be thrill rides. People were just content with something laid back. Now, the "gimme more" generation is pushing these amusement parks to build death rides.

I wanted to ride this but was too small when i finally was big enough it was gone.
