MusicWorks - Grade 1.5
Drawing on the rich and varied tradition of Celtic folk songs, this piece opens with the touching and melodious “The Parting Glass.” The flutes and percussion take center stage on the dance-like “Tha Mi Sgith (A Fairy's Love Song)”, then finally the entire band gets into the act for the rousing finish.

its like a battle between the clarinets and the flutes and all everyone else is playing battle music for them
I think of it as a battle between all the instruments and every one plays and important tole
It's like from measure 6-14 it's the flutes and upper woodwinds introduction and from measure 14-19 it's the brass introducing themselves
At least that's what my teacher said.
But the flutes definitely won at the end. No offense to clarinets or anything, but it's just the flutes had the upper hand in this fight.
See the light When the light is blue yeah and us trumpets are kind of like assisting the flutes with the saxophones
Our conductor always makes us speed up the last part like 10 times faster, and it instantly becomes both one of the best and the hardest pieces to play on kit.
Piety kit?
Cookie 44 Drum kit lol.
It is a pain to play on trumpet I play it at 10x speed in 1 month
US TOOOOOOO LOL
I’m a clarinet player and we used to play that part as fast as we could for fun. It sounded so good.
I love the part where you think it's going to end then the percussion come in bam
Percussion Gang rise up
Adriana Tecca I play the bells part in my class lol
That is percussions *whole* job
I think it's called a beat drop :DDDD

Mathilde Bouchard I used to, I walk the alto path now

WOOO TRUMPETS! I know this song was more for the wood winds, but I'm glad that they gave us a part. It just sounds so marvellous!

@@okay_buddy00I’m doing it in 6th
trumpet anyone?
I personally think that this is an amazing piece to play in band (my band is performing it in 2 weeks) and it's different from the other pieces we've played because us trumpets finally have an epic part!! Listen for our solos!
yes trumpets unite i actually was the only trumpet until i got a trombone with me
I think #vikingbandaraggment is the best
Yas Batch
YEE I KNOW RIGHT I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR A GOOD SOLO
Mikayla Butterworth Really? We have about 8 trumpets (half of which can’t play a damn thing) and only 30 total players
i’m a flute player and we play this song, i love it so much because i feel like it gives the flutes a chance to stand out
Us saxophones never stand out, you can barely hear us behind you guys :(
Lowbrass to me is what makes this music perfect 😍. Can’t have a band without lowbrass🤷🏾♀️🤪
Two of my friends are trombone and one of my friends is tuba. Flute for me personally

ECKKK IM DOIJG THIS ONE IN MY CLASS RN😆 we have a concert on money so everyone been practicing in same class, except I play snare in this and the other snare BEEN PRACTICING SINCE THEY WERE 6???? they said it was ez.💀
Man, this really takes me back to me early middle school memories and to how fond of life itself. Now, saddly, it's really difficult to get myself out of this downward spiral I had gotten myself into. I ask not for sympathy at all! Just sharing a personal anecdote about the memories this song sends when I listen to it.
Ah yes, seventh grade. When I thought life was okay!
I didn't even think life was okay then.
I feel the EXACT same way

Same as me I’m the only one that knows the most important part Ig I’m the teacher now of flute’s 😂
@@alfredonieto2403 i know the feeling. it’s been two years and now im the top flutist at my high school as a sophomore. i guess pieces like celtic really were trying to set some flutes up to be leaders haha. also it’s so cool that you’re playing celtic air and dance!! this was my jam
I played the snare drum part on this at my 8th grade band concert. It felt like two armies about to face off in the field of battle, and the drums are the armies' steps at they get closer and closer to each other

I’m a band student and I’m glad because this music is pretty af and Celtic is one of the prettiest things to exist
I don’t know what can change my mind
I played precision for this piece and it's AWSOME
But sometimes hard when ur the only girl percussionist and the boys think there better than you
I am a boy percussionist and there are only boy percussionists at our school
Adriana Tecca I agree sooooooooo much! what’s with the guys thinking they are better then us gurls!! You just gotta show them what your capable of!
Literally, No percussionist is better than one another. They work as a group, not as single warriors, a band works as one.
Right!
I’m also a female percussionist, but there’s another girl in our group. I’m 7th and she’s in 8th but still. ^_^
We are playing this in my seventh grade band class

I had a snare drum solo in front of the stage. Playing this song is so much fun!
I'm an 8th grade bassoonist and got picked out for an honors band program back in November, and this was one of the songs we played. It's so beautiful :) we also played Zombie Tango, Pirates Of The Caribbean, Colliding visions, and March On The King's Highway. I got accepted into the next "level" of honors band and I wish we were playing this song again since we're playing one song from each band(there were 3 different bands) This song brings back so many memories of rehearsing for like 8 hours 2 days in a row. I hope to have more cool opportunities like that
i play flute i love my parts and the way they all combind together💙💙
Jamie Koch Same!!!!
I’m in 9th grade and our concert band is playing this at our next concert and I’m so excited! Is trombones have this song on lock for the most part and it’s so much fun.
Lmao same
just played this song at a concert last night, definitely my favorite song i’ve played with my french horn so far
Playing flute in this is such an experience
Playing this for my winter concert at school!
I’m thinking these are sheets for people more like G7 my music sheets are much more full of notes. Anyways this is a beautiful song. My class will be doing nationals, and I want to prove to my teacher that I can get better then before. Even though I have been slacking in band meagrely. Up until the day where my band teacher said that she recommended me not to take band. That got me to me and that’s when I really realized I should get my ass to school more because everything I been working for my hole life nearly disappeared. But all of my work crumbled away. I don’t know how I’m going to ever pass onto G9, but i will do all my best now for it. Anyways my beautiful band teacher retires next year and planned a Disney trip for us all, hopefully covid won’t strike as bad or even at all by then so that we can create a wonderful memory with her. this always makes me wanna cry. It’s touchy. But what really hurts is that she got so far into teaching me and I let it fall apart by not attending my classes anymore. And that’s one thing I’m really going to think about, I want to be in touch with her for longer. And just last year she complemented me and my best friend, brainne, she complemented our teamwork and improvements in band. Wow, I wish I could have kept myslef together so that I wouldn’t have to feel such a strong pain of regret inside of me. Heya anyways, im going to show myself better, and this time I don’t want to loose nearly everything the way I did this year. Gonna end my comment now. It was more of a story though.
I'm currently in band and my conductor said that this video will help a lot with our concert a lot and it does I play the flute and I love this music that we have to play.
SNAREESSS WHERE YOU AT I LOVE THIS PIECE
Yooooooooo I'm snare
This was one of the first pieces I ever played 😊 and oh my god, that was about 12 years ago.

Valentina Grande yeah boiiiiiii look at epic sax Leen on my channel
HMU Bruh Best song to play in band.
I literally know the alto sax part better then the clarinet and I play the clarinet😂but I guess it's cause we only have 1 sax in our class and tend to follow his lead more then the other part two clarinet😂
Playing this in three weeks. BEST SONG EVER
(I'm a tuba btw but it's still so cool)
This was probably the best sixth grade song i played. It has character, and the melodies blend well together with the bass line, the addition of the percussion solos was one of the best ideas the composer has used. Overall 10/10 beginning band song.

I'm going to be playing this in my spring concert and I'm a drummer too!

I'm playing this song in band
I remember playing this last school year. Our band teacher has all of the sixth grade bands play this at their first concert. It definitely was an experience for me.
And that was the beginning of my journey of playing the flute.

Honestly the Horns and the low brass are the glue that holds the entire piece together

Clarinet is the best!!!
I love how in the middle it sounds like its ending, but really its just a trick
I’m playing this for Concert winds, and as a trumpet player, I’m really happy the woodwinds mainly get a part in this, as the pieces I’ve played, it’s mainly been brass as the main lead. I love this song a lot too!

Played this piece in my school’s band. We worked on it for months, fine tuning and all. We played well, and when the time came for a concert or an evaluation, we killed it. My fondest memories of the year came from going to sports games and playing for the teams, and I won’t ever forget the familiar nature of the band.
In particular to Easton, Austin, Gavin, and Rose, thank you for making the year one to remember. I wish daily I were playing alongside you once more.
