I NEED TO GET MY CONDUCTOR TO GET THIS SHEET MUSIC! I'm sitting here, crying tears of joy right now. I can't believe that they ACTUALLY created a concert band How to Train your Dragon score!! I'm so happy!!
We played this last year. (In my Freshman year) and it is a must do for my senior year. I play Flute and the solo will be mine.... 😉 It is such an amazing piece.
DerpyDragon777 Heh.... My conductor really enjoyed our performance on this piece. The Flute solo was played by a Flute Section Member who was like very experienced than me. I am indeed lucky I will agree. 😉
DerpyDragon777 It is indeed a delightful piece but the tempo was ridiculously fast I will say. It was a challenge for me since being like 1.5 years of experience on Flute during the time I did have some trouble I have 2 years of experience and I have improved a lot since performing this with the band though. I really should ask my Band Director about Performing this again. He likes trying new pieces of music though but i am sure it might be a comeback Senior year. He himself enjoys the piece.

When the concert comes around, I am dedicating this piece to her. I know I'm gonna cry, but grandma, I love you.

Bdawg PlaYz your right! French Horns always have the best parts. I play trombone but when my band teacher calls for French horns in a certain measure look out. It’ll be some cool part you’ve never heard.
That trumpet part at 3:36 tho!!!!Playing this in my Middle School band right now and I LOVE IT SO MUCH. Too bad I just got braces which makes it hard to play anything above a middle C -_-
In my coommunity band which has a little over 60 members, I can hear the timpani part in any song. Partly because I'm kind of sitting in front when I'm playing tenor sax.

Coming from a trumpet player, a very much agree with that. They hold the band together and get barley any credit. Also, a lot of the stuff they do is a solo, but they don’t get the praise they deserve for it.
This song has a special place in my heart since i loved the movies when i was younger not only that but personally, i think these pieces of music sound amazing
1:56 omg that makes me want to cry. This was always my favorite scene, went they went on that ride through the clouds...soo nostalgic I really want to play it in band.
Our band wasn’t the best but everyone loved this arrangement and you could tell they wanted to do their very best. Playing through the entire piece without crying was so difficult to me. There was so much passion and emotions throughout this song! Of all the song my band play, this one stuck with me!
I’m in orchestra in school and I am so excited to start rehearsing this with the other orchestra sections and band/ wind ensemble, the strings are chimes are beautiful but the band really makes this so lively and amazing!! Love you band people so much!! I have so music respect for you all!! ❤
I love how even though at measure 14 a lot of woodwinds have the same part as trumpet and you only hear trumpet same with the measures after, you only hear trombone and trumpet 0:37
Definitely one of my favourite film-scores of all time... Not only memorable & stirring, but iconic. (And even though it's not included here, the selection "Forbidden Friendship" is one of my all-time pieces of music ever!) And reading the comments below is also fun. Each person noticed a different instrument! Brass, flutes, Fr. Horn, Oboe, etc.

I love hal Leonard he really knows how to make every instrumental voice be heard and featuered. The low brass to the winds you really get the feeling of a full symphony
Well, trumpets and horns are there really awesome. Btw I am playing on Trumpet for 4 years right now and after 5th year I want to start playing on French horn. Btw I am from Czech republic
I had a concert recently. On Wednesday, March, 6th, 2024. The advanced band played this piece. It was amazing! This is my fourth year as a flute. I saw the advanced band flute piece and silently tried to finger the notes.😂 Im in the El Dorado beginning band. We played Zap, Harry Potter and, of course, America The Beautiful. It was the arrival festival
ughhhh i love playing this piece. as a trombonist when i'm playing those long notes where i can hear the melody singing out and feel the sound vibrating through me, for a moment i'm totally connected to the music, and i just know i'm part of something awesome. one of the best feelings in the world.
I love this music. the music from httyd is so amazing because it gives the spotlight to some instruments who never really get the spotlight, (horns, kinda low brass, and definitely the woodwinds/clarinets/flutes), I'm just confused why the trumpets don't get to have much of the melody or don't get the spotlight. they normally do. but still this song makes horns feel more special. 😊😁
I remember in 7-8th grade hearing my highschool wind ensemble play this and just.. completely being in awe. I looked up to them so much and now I’m a junior in wind ensemble! I feel terrible tho lol I’m not nearly as good as the saxophones were back then.. I really wish we had the opportunity to play this!
This was the last song I played in high school with my band. The trombone part so awesome and memorable. Every time I hear this I wanna cry because I miss it so much 😢
Omg same here. This was legit one of the last pieces I ever played in high school. Man I miss those days. This was especially easy for my my final year because I'd already played it once before in middle school.. yea, those days were awesome.
I've been wanting to play this peice ever since I've gotten good at playing the flute, which was my seventh grade year at junior high. Its been two years, I'm now a freshman, and my band teacher wants us to play it at our first concert, I'm very excited, even if it is difficult and has a lot of triplets.
I played percussion from 4th grade til my senior year. Senior year I learned trumpet and was playing 1st trumpet by our spring concert for this piece. My band director also made us learn french horn for the middle section. Amazing experience.
Yo. this song just brings back so much nostalgia to me because growing up How to Train Your Dragon was a huge part of my childhood, and just watching the shows and movies with my family, in my opinion How to Train Your Dragon is AMAZING! I would low-key love to play this piece, but I play the Alto Sax, and that Sax part is way too hard for me right now.
yo why the flutes sound so good in this piece brah. I swear normally in my hs band, I can;t really hear them(maybe cause i play the trumpet sitting at the back), but they earned my respect once more fr.
Unfortunately we only had 3 horns last year. I don’t know about next year and I’m not sure how many horns there are gonna be and not sure if we are gonna play this again anyways
Amazing music, my band has had to learn it in 1 month and surprisingly it is extremely close to how the recording sounds, by far one of the most challenging yet beautiful pieces of music I have ever played. #FlutesFTW
Wulfgirl03 yeah same. In beginning band at my school you could only play alto sax, and in advanced band right now, my friend that used to play alto sax now plays Barry sax. It's like almost as big as he is 😂😂
Doing this song in marching band! (I’m in color guard but I play clarinet during school) I love this piece especially with our choreography with the flags
Clarinets get the melody in most of this. I played one when I played highlights from the motion picture how to train your dragon. I play Bass Clarinet now. EDIT: now I’m playing highlights from the motion picture but on Bass Clarinet. We sounded horrible two years ago
GamerSlimes115 flutes get more of the melody lol and when they're doing the scales while trumpets have melody, the clarinets are playing with the flutes. I believe all parts are equally as good though
I played this as a part of a 12 person ensemble, I played French horn and trumpet one, I basically just played French horn where I'd usually be resting, and I did the opening on it, then switched to trumpet for the other parts. It was really fun in such a smaller group.
Oh man, memories from my freshman year. We played this and it was a badass song to play. We played this for the middle schoolers alongside Marche Diabolique and the other song, I don't remember which one it was. But the three songs we played for them were just soooopoo good. I miss my freshman year so much. I want to salute all the band veterans that graduated that year. I miss you guys! "Chingon!"
Amazing! We just started practicing this in our year 7 band but all we hear is alto’s and even when the conductor tells them to be quiet, they overpower the entire band lol.. I loveee the flutes and trumpet parts
I know what you mean, in my music class there were like 17 altos most of them just played normally, around 8 trumpets but only 3 really played, 3 trombones, 3 tenors but really only me and this other dude played, 1 baritone, 10 clarinets only like 6 played, maybe 5 flutes really only like 3 played, 2 tubas rea`lly only 1 played, and 2 basses which always messed up lol, and all we heard were altos. They always overpowered, I don't if it's just me but other than altos for some reason we have something against altos.
We learned this song immediately after the winter concert but we never got it to sound right and there were many errors. After my band teacher taugh us how to simplify parts, long talks, and lots of anger, the night of our spring concert we blew our band teacher away because we always surprise him
My personal opinion is that it depends on the director for the school. Most do it in a way that causes that to happen, but I had one that got us to a point where we had gotten our concert pieces nigh perfection, and we worked on other stuff up until a few days before the concert.
I am playing this as a 7th grade French hornist and I just wanna say the French horn part is awesome. We actually get a cool part especially at the pickup into 64 the melody is great. And at the end we flip our horns so the bell is upward and we finish the song with an awesome and loud part. 😁😁👍👍🎵🎶
We’re playing this for our final concert, I think it’s the best way to finish senior year, this song and the Incredibles...... Gotta leave with a Big Bang!!!!!
We were supposed to play this last year but we couldnt and our conductor re-introduced it this year iM SO HAPPY I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH I PLAY THE FLUTE BTW
My schools got A Marching band Flute Army that will keep growing. Ill make sure of that. I got 5 more years of Marching Band. (My School we start in 7)
Ellie Emmerling Wow thats a long time. You guys must be amazing. For us its like an extracurricular during high school and you can join whenever you want. But same as our band we have more flutes than any other instrument,
We are a very small school district. Our Middle School and High School is one building. We are a division 5 Football team. Which is understandable considering our district size. Also amount of kids that go to our school. If we didnt have 7th and 8th grade in our Marching band we would have literally 30 Marching Highschool kids and 7 or 8 Flagline/Daneline. Because of our school district size they say they keep the Middle School and the High school apart really well. They dont. This Marching Band season we had 4 Middle School Flutes and 2 High School Flutes. But Next year we will get more Newbz. For Us Trumpets is the largest with I dont know how many like 8 to 10. But Flutes come after that.
the marching band show of this is even better. probably my favorite show we did in high school. i played first trumpet part and ahh i will always remember that solo in the third movement it was great loved playing that
I played this song in 8th grade, and it was the most amazing experience I have ever had when playing the trombone. I listen to this often and almost cry every time because of how much I love this song. I still cant believe i was able to be a part of playing this. ps. not this video specifically but in the band at my school.
Have you ever studied your instrument history? The Horns we play and refer in America to as "French Horns" are actually German in origin. The French also made horns, but they use piston valves and are small bored.
This is so beautiful and I hope my band is able to play this one day. Also, HOW COME I DON'T SEE ANY PERCUSSION COMMENTS?! The percussionists in this song like the snare, timpani, crash cymbals, chimes and bells need more recognition! They gave the song that extra mystical and exciting feel! #PERCUSSIONISTSUNITE
Months of work for 4 minutes, the last song I played for my senior year. Listening to it again, ah, triggers somthing deep in my core that only a peice you've poured your hours into can bring.
Smarties Cas | I’m also a Trumpet and we played it but ours was so different. Trumpets had the leading part for the entire song and it was more difficult but still fun :3
This piece was the first piece i sight read in Grade 10, and never preformed. 3 years later, I'll play it at my final concert of my high school career with this year's grade 10 band. This song will also be the last time I play the French Horn in High School ❤
The flutes in this song sound amazing
You are right sir!
I agree with you
MrGameDuck you are indeed correct 😁
MrGameDuck technically thank you because my 8th grade band played this exact song and I'm a flute!

As a horn player who just played this in my very last high school concert this piece will always have a special place in my heart

Most of the Time Trumpets and Flutes get the melody.
you con also hear the timpanis pretty good
Crykenpie ikr, I play French horn I I'm never really important except for this song and like one other
about time the trumpets are shoved out of the spotlight. I have nothing against them, but they do have the melody in almost every song I've played
@Regina Head YES
3:34, as a tuba player, i have way too much fun playing pedal notes, absolutely love it
Did this for my middle school band concert 2 weeks ago and as a bari sax player this is one if not my favorite song I've played.
I'm playing this tomorrow at a concert, I'm in tenth grade and play the tenor sax
Playing this next year as an alto, for my first year of college! (Or high school)
I would low-key love to play this piece, but I play the Alto Sax, and that Sax part is way too hard for me right now.
i think we need to applaud whoever played the chimes on this for making them sound as beautifully dramatic and cinematic as possible
Tenor sax player yes I may not have the melody but this is my favorite song we are playing this year
yo why the flutes sound so good in this piece brah. I swear normally in my hs band, I can;t really hear them(maybe cause i play the trumpet sitting at the back), but they earned my respect once more fr.
Clarinets ate this up literally triplets like the whole time and the end is just ughhhhh so gooooddddd
I wish I could play this for my senior concert piece but our band director refuses to do it cause its been the senior piece for like 3 years now😭😭
Those horn hits though, they pack a hell of a punch if you Band does them right
Unfortunately we only had 3 horns last year. I don’t know about next year and I’m not sure how many horns there are gonna be and not sure if we are gonna play this again anyways
I love the music that starts at 3:35 !
+_Biolini_ The_Gamer_ Don't we all. :)
:D
+Biolini the music at 0:35 is better
Retards. All of you. 2:57 👍
@@itookashittoday1146 yasss chimes
1:12-1:20 Flute solo. 😉
I adore this part. I would LOVE to do it.
Candace 101 fan omg trust me it’s so much fun to play
Dreams sometimes come true
Dude the day my band director announced we were playing this I internally screamed. Trumpets are amazing.
f horns sounded beautiful 😉
Ismael Campa you're not wrong.
F
Amazing music, my band has had to learn it in 1 month and surprisingly it is extremely close to how the recording sounds, by far one of the most challenging yet beautiful pieces of music I have ever played.
#FlutesFTW
Wulfgirl03 flutes have the best sound of any instrument, in my opinion. That's why I chose it over all the others.
MrGameDuck I agree, I also like the sound of a Barry saxophone but when I first started band, that wasn't an option.
Wulfgirl03 yeah same. In beginning band at my school you could only play alto sax, and in advanced band right now, my friend that used to play alto sax now plays Barry sax. It's like almost as big as he is 😂😂
CrazyWulfie Bari sax*
CrazyWulfie Me and my band learned this in a week.. is that worrying? 😂 such a fun piece!
GamerSlimes115 Clarinets ftw
GamerSlimes115 flutes get more of the melody lol and when they're doing the scales while trumpets have melody, the clarinets are playing with the flutes. I believe all parts are equally as good though
MrGameDuck your correct
i play the drums
Ruben Moons yesssssssssss!!!!!l!!!!k!
NerfThis Mercy! Lol in my band we have 1 alto sax me! Lol
Em Mey wow its the complete opposite in our band lol
I know what you mean, in my music class there were like 17 altos most of them just played normally, around 8 trumpets but only 3 really played, 3 trombones, 3 tenors but really only me and this other dude played, 1 baritone, 10 clarinets only like 6 played, maybe 5 flutes really only like 3 played, 2 tubas rea`lly only 1 played, and 2 basses which always messed up lol, and all we heard were altos. They always overpowered, I don't if it's just me but other than altos for some reason we have something against altos.
I'm an oboe and this song murdered three 20$ reeds -_-
I can feel you, bassoonist over here :/
FINALLY SOMONE WHO PLAY BASSON!! :D
+whyme 95 do you play it too ? :D
yes I do!! :D
I would have played bassoon... but NO MY SCHOOL DIDN'T HAVE IT AS AN OPTION
Is anyone gonna talk about the trombone and euphonium part at 0:45
It’s epic
I'm a trombone player and I wish we were playing this piece this year so I can play that. I'm stuck playing Frozen :/
That sucks for you
This piece is awesome, as a trombone player it’s very fun to play!
I’m not even a low brass player but that part SLAPS!!
Thank you I appreciate you not ignoring us 😂
Horn piece will always bring me great happiness and tears of joy.
Played this last year for class, best band song ive ever played. Period
2:34 hands down best part of the piece
Everyone talking about the horn parts, and I’m a lonely percussionist over here
Chimes and bells and snare are perfect too
Timpani also sounds pretty good!
If you can hear it...
You guys deserve more praise than you get
Okami_6 Im playing the Timpani at my school for this peice. Er.... I *was* playing this at my school. Now we’re doing remote learning.
BattlePig101 that’s pretty cool!
Wish my band teacher buys this piece...
We learned this song immediately after the winter concert but we never got it to sound right and there were many errors. After my band teacher taugh us how to simplify parts, long talks, and lots of anger, the night of our spring concert we blew our band teacher away because we always surprise him
Isn’t that just how school bands work? Fail until the last moment where we blow it out of the water?
@@sentient5 pretty sure it is. Thats how it is at my school. We always pull through in the end though.
Best part is the trumpet intro to this is berk and then 1:02 when everyone joins in mainly that
#BRASSFTW
Totally agree, I play trumpet myself and this is a masterpiece
We were supposed to play this last year but we couldnt and our conductor re-introduced it this year iM SO HAPPY I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH I PLAY THE FLUTE BTW
aww jhope xD im playing the flute too and pur band is going to learn this song too ㅋㅋㅋ
Hehe I see an ARMY
Don't know if this was mentioned yet or not but french horns slay at 2:14. I play clarinet but man the french horns have a cool part there.
Talia G. we sure did 😂
Coming from a trumpet, I agree
We're playing this for our band concert Tuesday and I'm so hyped I absolutely adore this song
the marching band show of this is even better. probably my favorite show we did in high school. i played first trumpet part and ahh i will always remember that solo in the third movement it was great loved playing that
The marching band I’m in sometimes is a concert band. And we are playing this as one of our concert band pieces.
I played this song in 8th grade, and it was the most amazing experience I have ever had when playing the trombone. I listen to this often and almost cry every time because of how much I love this song. I still cant believe i was able to be a part of playing this.
ps. not this video specifically but in the band at my school.
i love the part when french horn and tenor sax come together
Jacob Picking welp ok
lmao
I play the French horn. Btw it is the FRENCH HORN!
French horn is in F..... So it is a *type* of F Horn. There's also F Alto Horn to in existence~
#PERCUSSIONISTSUNITE
percussion holds the entire band together
- alto sax
How is there no violin. Violins played a major part in the pice. And I don’t settle for flutes.
@@Potato_pigeon Because this is for concert band and not orchestral
@@phimholmes6013 lol for some reason I thought this was the original score
I play timpani but its not really that important for this song, still epic though
Months of work for 4 minutes, the last song I played for my senior year. Listening to it again, ah, triggers somthing deep in my core that only a peice you've poured your hours into can bring.
I recently graduated high school this past year and I can easily say that the thing I miss most is band :')
-a percussionist
Played this in band, best thing ever!
I love it! I play trumpet and would just love to play this in my band😍
nice midna
Smarties Cas | I’m also a Trumpet and we played it but ours was so different. Trumpets had the leading part for the entire song and it was more difficult but still fun :3
Same!🎺
2nd trumpet is pretty easy for me. Since i played solo, i felt more important
No you don’t trust me it is a pain but fun to play
This is such an amazing piece. The way every instrument fits together and the feeling this brings out is truly wonderful.
As a baritone sax player this is my favourite piece of music I’ve ever played EVER
This piece was the first piece i sight read in Grade 10, and never preformed. 3 years later, I'll play it at my final concert of my high school career with this year's grade 10 band. This song will also be the last time I play the French Horn in High School ❤
