It’s really just a big version of the flame that jets had when the game first came out. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were just carried over from Birds of Prey from like 2008
Had a fun match today Germany, Russia, Sweden vs China, USA, GB. I was on the Sweden side and the whole enemy team had an airspawn while only two SU-7 had it on mine
@@Bobspineable Tbh most people I've talked to disagree with that. A lot of us would rather fight enemies our planes were designed to fight. Back in the days when there were no missiles in game, there was a good meta at top tier, each nation had it's advantages and disadvantages and playstyles, now since there's so many Phantoms and F104s in game all that's lost. The only nations that are left with unique (and at the same time viable) top tier planes are the USSR, France and Sweden. Every other nation has nothing but American export vehicles that have been copy pasted around with fairly insignificant changes in the grand scheme of things. I'm so fucking tired of fighting Phantoms in my F4EJ.

Waiting more for the q5b and q5e, which have 4 and 6 AA missile pylons respectively ,capable of using pl2s or the pl5s on the j7e. Also I think q5e (or maybe the q5b) could use western munitions and using 6 magics. Also I'm really hoping china gets more unique stuff. The Nanchang j12, the j8I and j8II ,the hx7, plus lots more could easily come to the game as is. Not to mention prop ROC prototypes from ww2 we could get, like the xp0 and xp1.
I'm hopeful for the J-8 and J-8II , but we'll see. The game is just on the cusp of when China hit their stride with domestically produced aircraft, so perhaps soon....
can't wait for the PL-7's aka the Chinese Magics I can't understand the hate behind that tech tree, sure China copies stuff but they know what they're doing. They take both Russian and US technology and put it together, such a simple and clever tactic. I would really recommend this tech tree since it's really short but gives you everything you need.
@@cokelp5831 Tbf, part of the hate is gaijin's fault, because they could have made the tree alot more unique from the get go, but for the longest time the tree was almost entirely copy paste.
@@rm2569 ofc they could've made it more unique but I think they first wanted to add only the vehicles that saw real combat/were used and produced. Just look at the Israel tech tree, Gaijin barely has time to create new tech trees as big as Russia, US or Germany simply because they need to balance soooo many thinks since they added rank 6 and 7 to the game. But from now on, China will get their own vehicles, no more copy pasta (maybe only the weapons/ammo) and I'm really looking forward to that.

I know this may be a controversial statement but I actually prefer the old after burner on jets like the F-100, MiG-19, and Q-5. I can admit though they would look stupid on something like a phantom or viggen
I do agree on your statement, since these aircraft uses old turbojet engines. I would rather see that afterburner look on these very old 1950s design fighter jets. I also agree that these old afterburners do look weird with more modern fighter jets like the F4 Phantoms or the Viggins, since these jets uses more modern turbojet/turbofan engines which produces a much cleaner and more beautiful afterburner look.

Unfortunately Gaijin doesnt know how to designate the plane in the devblog. this isnt a Q-5B, the Naval attack/Torpedo variant, irl its based on the Q-5III\IIIA platform. ironically, the new Gaijin approved User-created Bangladeshi skin has the correct variant name on the nose... this is similar to how they fucked up the PL-5B by giving it PL-4 (a Radar guided missile similar to Aim-7) weight characteristics...
my strategy with this is to just take the two missiles and immediately climb at like 40 degrees to about 7000-8000 meters, and then drop down on top of fighters as they get spotted by your team in the initial merge so they don't even see you coming. easy 2 kills per game. in uptiers you have to watch out for radar missiles though.

I have a question for u bro. I haven´t played with any of my Chinese crews just yet. Should I spend 100Ge to get 1500XP to raise my G tolerance so I can play with this plane? or just play with it til I get enough points to do it by itself? and also what kind of flares do you use?
In my personal opinion it's better to not take any bombs or rockets at the start of the battle. Better to just take Magics and abuse the air spawn to get above the enemy team and launch at unsuspecting targets. This way you can basically guarantee two air kills every match. After you launch the missiles you can try to dogfight with guns or RTB to get more Magics. Once the enemy team is mostly gone and no longer a threat is when I take bombs and rockets to farm some additional ground targets.
Man at this point I'm about to buy you GE so you can make the Mig-27 video faster, I am addicted to your videos. Especially anything to do with Soviet Aircraft.

The Mig-27 is proving a little more slow to make, since I want to go over all the crazy new ATG weapons, and it takes a lot of time to get setups for the situations I want when recording footage with a plane like this. The Mig-27 video will probably be another week or so.
The a5c is just the same problem as the harriers in the Chinese tt. Too low of a br, too good missiles, an undeserved air spawn, it’s just fighting fire with fire.

@@snwilliam6886 As a British player, I’ve got to say that ours are the worst. The GR1 is in a bad place right now and the GR3 is okay, but still outclassed. American ones both have countermeasures and being on the US team helps a bunch.
Get. The. Missiles. Once you have those sideclimb to 6000m at 14 ish degrees. Use you altitude to pick on target who are occupied, slow, dont have countermeasure etc. Take 20 or 30 mins of fuel depending on how long you expect to last, I decide this by if I'm uptiered or not. (Remember your reheat consumes fuel at ~3x speed, so 30 minutes is more like 10). Your guns can be finicky to pull lead with and dont have stellar ROF or velocity, so take car when aiming and dont be afraid to do a little spraying. The aim9 Gs will have to be lead a lot if the target is moving perpendicular to you, but as long as you fire at >1.4km in these situations you should net a hit if they keep turning or a close shave if they make a last second duck or rise.
You know, I find the premium Drakken very dangerous, when I fly it ;). Do not underestimate this plane and its ability to follow you in vertical maneuvers. It's still easy to energy trap it if the player doesn't know what he is doing.
For the moment I don’t see much point in grinding the China tree besides CAS for tanks, and maybe the Q-5, and J-7E. When they get to more of their “domestic” modern jets, maybe.

a5c now can carry 4×750lb bombs. with 130mm rockets the damage u can deal to the base is about same with su7bkm. before the stupid new updats. I get almost 1m rp just within a week

This is the Harrier GR.1 situation all over again. Airspawn, MiG-19 airframe with better engines and 2 Magics. At 10.0 it's just utterly overpowered, if you get a team in them that's actually competent you bet the enemy or your team will fall apart fast. It should go to AT LEAST 10.3. It's especially annoying face this plane in the F-104G and MiG-21MF.
It has a mig 19 airframe in looks only. It's literally like 3 tons heavier and as you can see it the footage it can BARELY pull 8G at 900 kmh ias. It honestly sucks complete ass compared to the mig19S/PT in close combat. It can be outturned by everything it sees bar dedicated bombers like the Buccaneer. Still though, magics at 10.0 is an absolute moment. Imagine going out in your mig17 or hunter F.1 and having to deal with magics.
Ehh. That .3 in battle rating means the difference between an effective aircraft and absolutely dead weight that is painful to play. Same situation that happened to the British Harrier. Ever since it got moved to 10.0 it’s practically useless.
@@hummerskickass well the harrier1 at 10.0 is useless because SRAAMS cant hit what you're not sniffing the ass of, and it's slow so it never gets any kills, the A5C is fast enough to easily manouver behind 9.0-10.0s and get 2 free kills per downtier per reload at base
@@hummerskickass The Harrier is a bus and doesn't get countermeasures. SRAAMs aren't guaranteed kills since a lot of planes at that BR has countermeasures. The A-5C on the other hand is too strong for 10.0., it's not as much of a bus as the Harrier, it gets 2 easy kill Magics (unless you launch them at extreme angles) and an airspawn. 10.0 is too low when you consider the type of planes it'll face.
@@mayonotes9849 I both agree and disagree with you. It is quite powerful where it is right now. However taking it up to 10.3 will almost ensure that it constantly faces 11.0 Jets. The capability gap between 10.0 and 11.0 is massive in jet combat. If that happens it will just be a free kill to which ever jet can get a lock onto it first. Kinda like the Harrier is now.
Anybody who claims the Harriers are cancer, obviously hasn't had enough experience flying them. Too many players get glued to a target, and act surprised when a Gr.1 swoops in and kills them. Anybody who pays attention long enough to see a Harrier coming, already has the advantage in a dogfight.

I believe the a5c is literally the worst premium. It turns like shit. Almost a achievement how the chinese managed to make it turn that bad. The missiles are 35g's but after a recent update or something they experience so much drag, So you can't kill anything more than 1.5km away. And sadly, the engines perform very poorly. So combine that with that shitt manuvariblity and you wouldnt be able to kill anything. Bombs cant even destroy 1 single base and flares are kinda useless due to the engines running so increadibly hot. A5c is easly the worst premium i've got. Even draken is better due to the incredible maneuverability. Dont get the a5c!!!

@@kylebrady969 r550s are much harder to avoid than SRAAMS and aim9Gs, since the harrier is worse at getting onto your tail due0 to being quite slow.

At 10.0 it's just utterly overpowered, if you get a team in them that's actually competent you bet the enemy or your team will fall apart fast. It should go to AT LEAST 10.3. It's especially annoying face this plane in the F-104G and MiG-21MF.
It has a mig 19 airframe in looks only.
It's literally like 3 tons heavier and as you can see it the footage it can BARELY pull 8G at 900 kmh ias. It honestly sucks complete ass compared to the mig19S/PT in close combat. It can be outturned by everything it sees bar dedicated bombers like the Buccaneer.
Still though, magics at 10.0 is an absolute moment. Imagine going out in your mig17 or hunter F.1 and having to deal with magics.
Ehh. That .3 in battle rating means the difference between an effective aircraft and absolutely dead weight that is painful to play. Same situation that happened to the British Harrier. Ever since it got moved to 10.0 it’s practically useless.
@@hummerskickass well the harrier1 at 10.0 is useless because SRAAMS cant hit what you're not sniffing the ass of, and it's slow so it never gets any kills, the A5C is fast enough to easily manouver behind 9.0-10.0s and get 2 free kills per downtier per reload at base
@@hummerskickass The Harrier is a bus and doesn't get countermeasures. SRAAMs aren't guaranteed kills since a lot of planes at that BR has countermeasures. The A-5C on the other hand is too strong for 10.0., it's not as much of a bus as the Harrier, it gets 2 easy kill Magics (unless you launch them at extreme angles) and an airspawn. 10.0 is too low when you consider the type of planes it'll face.
@@mayonotes9849 I both agree and disagree with you. It is quite powerful where it is right now. However taking it up to 10.3 will almost ensure that it constantly faces 11.0 Jets. The capability gap between 10.0 and 11.0 is massive in jet combat. If that happens it will just be a free kill to which ever jet can get a lock onto it first. Kinda like the Harrier is now.
This plane has literally no buisness being at 10.0. A mig-19 with Magics and Aim-9J's for some reason, and an airspawn

Anybody who claims the Harriers are cancer, obviously hasn't had enough experience flying them. Too many players get glued to a target, and act surprised when a Gr.1 swoops in and kills them. Anybody who pays attention long enough to see a Harrier coming, already has the advantage in a dogfight.

id like to mention that the q5/a5 has very good energy retention (seriously, you can turn and turn and turn at 800kph)
so you can be very dangerous in a dogfight if you make the enemies bleed their energy

I believe the a5c is literally the worst premium. It turns like shit. Almost a achievement how the chinese managed to make it turn that bad. The missiles are 35g's but after a recent update or something they experience so much drag, So you can't kill anything more than 1.5km away. And sadly, the engines perform very poorly. So combine that with that shitt manuvariblity and you wouldnt be able to kill anything. Bombs cant even destroy 1 single base and flares are kinda useless due to the engines running so increadibly hot. A5c is easly the worst premium i've got. Even draken is better due to the incredible maneuverability. Dont get the a5c!!!
