There's this really hilarious tactic where you can turn the GBU-12s into cruise missiles by flying at low altitude (100-300m) and high speed(900-1000km/h). Drop the bomb 6-7km away from target and it'll literally fly itself all the way like an AGM65. You can do this with the other laser guided bombs too but you need higher speed (950+km/h) since they are heavier.

No Mavericks, No Snake Eye Fin Package (for the entire Mk 80 series bombs, No Mk.20 Rockeye Cluster Munitions, No Walleye or Harpoon or HARM missile. I now say hello to my past family at VA-52. I just bought it for $30, it's my first WT purchase after 1,600 hours, I tried to go all free, but I've been obsessed with this aircraft since I was a kid, and it was on sale. It's a fun ground attack so far, I just love looking at it.
Im so happy that WarThunder included the A-6. But, It was meant to fly in under the radar with poor weather at 500 ft AGL and take out SAM's so the bombers and fighter support could carry out their mission SAM-free.
As always I appreciate your comprehensive reviews on what the capabilities of a plane can do, and a realistic expectation of how it may do in its Battle Rating in game, I want a plane to grind the last tiers of the US jet family so I can get to the F16 and Tomcat, WITHOUT having to fly much of what comes before it, however I don't believe this is the plane I want to do it in, I already have a Su25, and in its similaries I always feel just happy to have survived a battle. It's so good. A lot of SPAA have very limited missile range in that 10.0 br range so flying high with impact fuses is devastating. I primarily use it to hunt for enemy SPAA to clear the way for lower level attackers like F4C and A10.
I wish lgb and apkws got a thing that shows general where it's possible to hit, would make laser bombs so much easier to learn and give apkws an actual chance to be used
As someone who used the su 25K for a long time and then picked up the traam. It really feels like I turned on easy mode with the aim 9L, It is so nice to be on the other side of those missiles.
I've been revisiting the USAF F-104's since they got their BR decrease, and against stuff like this it's a weird experience, not always painful, but weird. Sometimes you get swarmed with all aspect heatseekers with no way out, but sometimes the people you're flying against won't bother to dodge your AIM-9B. Kinda off topic, it's just interesting how the A-10, Su-25, and now A-6 have changed the meta at their BR, especially for opposition without flares.
This plane is an absolute nightmare in GRB, it can wipe well positioned tanks, and slap CAS out of the air, it makes playing against the US in the 9.0-11.0 bracket hellish.
I love this aircraft!!! Its so good in Sim!!! Its got a great targeting camera, can take out 2 and a half bases if you do the math right, and has a wide variety of weapons, not to mention how stable it is! Love this aircraft to death.
Playing BR 10 last week's after the new patches and I absolutely love this plane, best CAS option for me. Sometimes the bombs don't track, still you can Annihilate half enemy team in their push phase or just suppress gun AA.
I call bullshit when he said going for base bombing in air RB, it’s usually impossible to get there in time. And 99% of the reasons to fly this thing is to try and get easy kills with aim 9L. Without missiles it’s useless.
Sounds like a skill issue. The fact that American mains can't seem to bomb a base with there a-10s and a-6es (which are equipped with an incredible missile for it's br), yet su-25 players manage to bomb bases all the time and still dog fight. Sounds like American players have a serious skill issue.
It really just depends on your team and your flight path. If I'm playing "for fun" (not to record footage), and I'm going for bases in a slower plane, I often flank waaaaay around the edge of the battlefield to avoid interception. Sometimes I have to wait for the bases to respawn after some fast jets take them out, but its "safer". If there aren't a lot of other attackers on my team and it looks clear, then sometimes I just go right in.
@@TimsVariety while this gets you the base to bomb its not really efficient grinding method, imo if you want to bomb and you dont get to do it before merge/inteception you are probably better off doing something else assuming you care about rp/hour and as this is premium i think a lot of people do of course just playing "for fun" is a different story
If you take 4 aim 9L you can go furthest left or right wherever you’re team goes let them fight for the first couple engagements then fire any aim 9L at people trying to kill, use you’re teammates at meat shields
considering that planes at BR 10 and up require 20-30 bucks EACH for ace crew and that ace crew makes a big difference in a fight, the whole game is a massive pay to win cash grab
Just in case u didnt know, u can ace your crew without GE by just playing it till u reach the rp required for ace - you do have to train them first with silver lions though before this rp counts towards this so be sure to do that asap if its a plane u want aced. You can check this progress in the crew qualification tab, i ended up getting a few free aces this way just by accident.
When i spawn this plane, i try to fly it at more than 8km altitude to outrange spaa and i just use that thermal and zooming camero to drop 9 gbu's on enemys tanks

This channel is still a hobby for me, but if it unexpectedly takes off someday I wouldnt want to find my whole channel suddenly demonitized over some surprise copyright strikes because I used some images in a video 4 years ago or something like that.
Probably the best bomber at it's BR. Those big Paveway-II's are ridiculous. They pack a hell of a punch and decimate airfields in SIM. It IS slow but those optics balance the plane alone, not mentioning turn rate and manucbility. !
"The A6 will never be a dogfighter, even in a downtier!" My experience in Sim has been me using the A6e for everyting in EC. I've even managed to out turn fight Swedish doritos
This is my favourite premium airplane, by far. It is super versatile and the aim9l's are absolutely savage at its current br. If the a10 is worth it's 60 bucks, this thing is 150% worth the 70 bucks, its better in every way (exept for the lack of mavericks) and can research rank 8! And comes with a bit more gold and premium time! I suck at air rb, i bought it mainly for cas, but even in air rb i VERY often get 3 kills, sometimes even 4, i take the 4 aim9l's and 3 bombs and that makes it an awesome grinder that easily maintains a positive K/D! (This plane made me enjoy and often play air rb which i very rarely did before!)
I just went over from ps4 to Xbox series x… can’t transfer my progress over and I was top rank with USA … ugh lol starting all over again is painful but the game runs so much smoother
This is a very comfy plane to fly but The inner pylons load less then the outer, put the gunpod and aim9 on the inner ones then bombs on the outer ones. Also its wings do snap if you pull neg 4G over 800 and when it loses it wingtip the control spar also goes.
I still think it should be BR 9.7, it should be on sale for 50% off, AND it should get Laser guided Mavs, Shrikes, Harpoons, Harms, walleyes and maybe Mk60 Sea mines
i may sound like a random level 20 but trust me when I say that it is actually good. If you load up the plane with one countermeasure pod, 3 1000LBx3 bomb loadout, and a missle (or 2 pods) this can get you 40K sL and 10K rP a match (if your not shot down you can go rtb and get even more rewards.) I got the f14 this way (got the a6e when I was researching first rank 6 plane) This is the best way you'll get points in this jet. You can also dogfight at 300-200 MPH with flaps down (you will outurn most planes at this br this way) Edit: Now something I wanted to point out was that when your bombing, PULL UP don't pull to the side, I encounter negative -5 g and wing rips every time. Just wanted to mention that -g will cause wing rip
Bro just do 4x AIM 9L and 2 napalm I’m getting 10k-20k research and 50k-100k Silver lions, I already farmed so quick to the f-14 tomcat I’m level 40 exactly I used to be level 28 when I got the tram it farmed me so much in a little amount of time
@@doge151alt_account that’s what I’m doing, imma take a little break then start grinding for the f16. The f14 is fun to use and I finally set my pitch and yaw controls on simulator battle it’s super slow though going up and down it turns so slow
Just wondering, was there a reason you cut out previewing the different paint jobs available for aircraft? I remember you used to do it back in the day.
I usually include the skins preview on planes where the paintjobs are significantly different. A lot of the higher tier US Jets just have different squadron markings on flat grey.
Still haven't figured out why they never added the SWIP modernization to the tech-tree, its not an insanely different plane in terms of balance/flight performance, but adds far more interesting and diverse weapons compatibility. Gaijin never lets us have anything cool for free I suppose lol.
I'm learning to hate this jet even more than any helicopter or any other cas jet in ground rb around 10.0. Each paveway is basically 1 guaranteed kill unless your target dies before it gets there, which is unlikely to happen if u select targets not near teammates, and the fact that it gets thermal, good zoom and a fully gimballed targeting pod combine to make this thing more oppressive than any other cas at the br. I've had multiple games now where a single half decent player in a tram has completely decimated the enemy team single handedly with 10+ kills all in this jet. Purely because they are so high alt that our AA cant touch them at all. Climb to 6-10km, bomb everything to dust, win - it's as simple as that. 10/10 toxic & 10/10 recommend.
Planes that don’t have flares should NEVER face all aspect missiles. This thing was the nail in the coffin for me. I got rid of this piece of junk that war thunder had become over the years.
I'd be more likely to buy premium vehicless if they sold cheaper options that didn't come with premium time and Eagles and stuff, and it's baffling that doesn't seem to be a thing.
I'm grinding through the Hunter atm and while I can easily beat an A-6 if it's run out of missiles, if it has ANY AIM-9Ls, you're dead. That thing might be a sack of potatoes with wings, but it has good enough turn performance to always be able to turn to face you if they see you coming.
If you mean hunter f58, that thing is shit near this 😂,i have both, but agm's on that thing work only when you are clise enought for spaa to take you easy, a6e tram just outrange every aa at that br.
@@flncrs7012 No, I meant the Hunter F.6 which doesn't have any countermeasures and the missiles have a 1km range and get flared incredibly easily. The Hunter F.58 is great by comparison. Honestly, they have the F.6 unhistorical missiles so they could do with giving it unhistorical flares too, because 9.7 without flares (or being supersonic) and you're dead.
interesting that you didn't run into any wing rip issues i seem to break in half in every other game lol, even while doing just a slight turn my loadout is 4x9ls and set of 2 napalm bombs so not the heaviest for sure
@@TimsVariety I saw someone mentioning it in a discord and went test flying it. I think part of that wing rip issue is that the A-6 likes to pitch the nose down on aileron input. At mid to low speed its not a problem, but when you're pushing the guppy's limits, a single aileron roll is enough to Red out the test drive pilot. And if you're putting in other inputs with that roll command, it has a tendency to give you an asymmetric wing load rip. But, that's just from like an hour messing around with the test drive.
When talking about the amount of ordinance the tram can carry, you and I have VERY different definitions of what it means to carry "a lot" of ordinance...the f105 and f4 carry way more than that. Not being able to carry aim9l doesn't change the fact they carry way, way more
You could have had two kills, maybe more with the gun pods, but because you hesitated and even tried going vertical for one guy(for some reason) you only get one... You can't hesitate like that.
The purpose of the clips I select isn't to try and show off that time I did well or to act like I'm some s-tier god ace (I'm a fairly average player overall), they're selected to try and demonstrate a variety of different situations with the plane. While I'm not sure exactly what section you're referencing, there *are* parts in some of my vids where I include myself deliberately making mistakes (getting energy trapped, for example) to demonstrate a weakness of the aircraft or something. I still don't understand why he lands normally, just do a war thunder landing. Come in with your gear up at a moderate speed, touch down and you'll slow down real quick then the repair is basically no different even if you grenade your engines on a prop plane.

If there ever was a jet that would made me learn CAS in DCS, it would be this one...... i too have a soft spot for it. However, the cool kids want AF Phantoms and Eurofighters way more, so i guess that's what will get :/
There are a significant number of ground attack jets that are supposed to have a radar set and don't, some (like this A-6E) have them modeled but not functional. My guess is that they are waiting for when they introduce air-to-ground radar as a baseline feature, and THEN a lot of these jets will suddenly find themselves with a radar set. Thats just a guess though.
I play on ps4 myself.. should I be Lasing targets prior to GBU drops, or laser once released. Looking for button layout ideas, never used smart munitions in game lol

@@cndmarksmen7383 There isn't any way to cycle to next target automagically with the laser targeting pod, you have to un-select your target (I use an overlapped keybind to clear all active targets from all sensors) and then re-target the next guy manually.
My three WT review formats are quick reviews, basic reviews, and detailed reviews. Quick reviews are usually new versions of stuff I've already covered in the past (F-104S-ASA after I'd done the F-104S already, things like that) where I mostly just talk about whats different. Basic reviews are like this A-6E review. Detailed reviews are usually longer and go into .. more detail .. about some new feature or something - like the Mig-29 with the helmet mounted targeting system.
Hey Tim, I've been having this idea in my mind for the last days about what if aircraft can have a base BR (or example 9.7) but you can choose to add missiles that will bump your BR up (like 10.3)? would this fix A-10's entering the fight, getting a cheap missile kill and die? i don't really know and would like to see if you could test flying bad planes with good missiles and then without the missiles because i only have 1 jet on sweden and no money for premiums. It’s a sorta fun plane but I would much rather of just got a 11.0 dedicated fighter like every other nation except for the bomb truck. It’s why nato usually get dumped on nowadays at 10.0 too many a10s and a6’s means instead of all together it’s pretty much go in alone and get jumped by 3 fighters. The f4’s and f5’s usually are carrying bombs too so pretty much the entire team is bombers and get tromped by fighters from Russia. And with everyone going in alone american win rates are garbage lately

I suck at air rb, i bought it mainly for cas, but even in air rb i VERY often get 3 kills, sometimes even 4, i take the 4 aim9l's and 3 bombs and that makes it an awesome grinder that easily maintains a positive K/D! (This plane made me enjoy and often play air rb which i very rarely did before!)
I just went over from ps4 to Xbox series x… can’t transfer my progress over and I was top rank with USA … ugh lol starting all over again is painful but the game runs so much smoother
Grumman's aircraft are incrediblly tough. I managed to fly 40 km in F6F with red engine
This is a very comfy plane to fly but
The inner pylons load less then the outer, put the gunpod and aim9 on the inner ones then bombs on the outer ones.
Also its wings do snap if you pull neg 4G over 800 and when it loses it wingtip the control spar also goes.
I still think it should be BR 9.7, it should be on sale for 50% off, AND it should get Laser guided Mavs, Shrikes, Harpoons, Harms, walleyes and maybe Mk60 Sea mines
I've always liked the look of the A-6. I wish we had a tech tree version. Not paying $70.
i may sound like a random level 20 but trust me when I say that it is actually good. If you load up the plane with one countermeasure pod, 3 1000LBx3 bomb loadout, and a missle (or 2 pods) this can get you 40K sL and 10K rP a match (if your not shot down you can go rtb and get even more rewards.) I got the f14 this way (got the a6e when I was researching first rank 6 plane) This is the best way you'll get points in this jet. You can also dogfight at 300-200 MPH with flaps down (you will outurn most planes at this br this way) Edit: Now something I wanted to point out was that when your bombing, PULL UP don't pull to the side, I encounter negative -5 g and wing rips every time. Just wanted to mention that -g will cause wing rip
Bro just do 4x AIM 9L and 2 napalm I’m getting 10k-20k research and 50k-100k Silver lions, I already farmed so quick to the f-14 tomcat I’m level 40 exactly I used to be level 28 when I got the tram it farmed me so much in a little amount of time
sounds intresting, will try when i need to grind again (cuz I spent a lot of time getting the f14 and want to break before going for the f16)
@@doge151alt_account that’s what I’m doing, imma take a little break then start grinding for the f16. The f14 is fun to use and I finally set my pitch and yaw controls on simulator battle it’s super slow though going up and down it turns so slow
I run 13x M83 1000lbs and just CCRP bases on drops of 6s.
also note that the laser ball turret doesnt turn at all when it is suppose to swivel and rotate
Just wondering, was there a reason you cut out previewing the different paint jobs available for aircraft? I remember you used to do it back in the day.
I usually include the skins preview on planes where the paintjobs are significantly different. A lot of the higher tier US Jets just have different squadron markings on flat grey.
Still haven't figured out why they never added the SWIP modernization to the tech-tree, its not an insanely different plane in terms of balance/flight performance, but adds far more interesting and diverse weapons compatibility. Gaijin never lets us have anything cool for free I suppose lol.
I'm learning to hate this jet even more than any helicopter or any other cas jet in ground rb around 10.0. Each paveway is basically 1 guaranteed kill unless your target dies before it gets there, which is unlikely to happen if u select targets not near teammates, and the fact that it gets thermal, good zoom and a fully gimballed targeting pod combine to make this thing more oppressive than any other cas at the br. I've had multiple games now where a single half decent player in a tram has completely decimated the enemy team single handedly with 10+ kills all in this jet. Purely because they are so high alt that our AA cant touch them at all. Climb to 6-10km, bomb everything to dust, win - it's as simple as that. 10/10 toxic & 10/10 recommend.

Planes that don’t have flares should NEVER face all aspect missiles. This thing was the nail in the coffin for me. I got rid of this piece of junk that war thunder had become over the years.
I'd be more likely to buy premium vehicless if they sold cheaper options that didn't come with premium time and Eagles and stuff, and it's baffling that doesn't seem to be a thing.
I'm grinding through the Hunter atm and while I can easily beat an A-6 if it's run out of missiles, if it has ANY AIM-9Ls, you're dead.
That thing might be a sack of potatoes with wings, but it has good enough turn performance to always be able to turn to face you if they see you coming.
If you mean hunter f58, that thing is shit near this 😂,i have both, but agm's on that thing work only when you are clise enought for spaa to take you easy, a6e tram just outrange every aa at that br.
@@flncrs7012 No, I meant the Hunter F.6 which doesn't have any countermeasures and the missiles have a 1km range and get flared incredibly easily. The Hunter F.58 is great by comparison. Honestly, they have the F.6 unhistorical missiles so they could do with giving it unhistorical flares too, because 9.7 without flares (or being supersonic) and you're dead.

i seem to break in half in every other game lol, even while doing just a slight turn my loadout is 4x9ls and set of 2 napalm bombs so not the heaviest for sure
Yeah, I don't know - I saw a lot of other people commenting in-game about wingrip but I never ran into it.
@@TimsVariety I saw someone mentioning it in a discord and went test flying it. I think part of that wing rip issue is that the A-6 likes to pitch the nose down on aileron input. At mid to low speed its not a problem, but when you're pushing the guppy's limits, a single aileron roll is enough to Red out the test drive pilot. And if you're putting in other inputs with that roll command, it has a tendency to give you an asymmetric wing load rip.
But, that's just from like an hour messing around with the test drive.
I hope they add the newer TRAM upgrade package thing, the one which makes the TRAM look good

When talking about the amount of ordinance the tram can carry, you and I have VERY different definitions of what it means to carry "a lot" of ordinance...the f105 and f4 carry way more than that. Not being able to carry aim9l doesn't change the fact they carry way, way more
and those planes also carry a LOT of ordnance.

The A6E carries MORE tonnage of dumb bombs than either, and has better smart ground attack options too.
You could have had two kills, maybe more with the gun pods, but because you hesitated and even tried going vertical for one guy(for some reason) you only get one... You can't hesitate like that.
The purpose of the clips I select isn't to try and show off that time I did well or to act like I'm some s-tier god ace (I'm a fairly average player overall), they're selected to try and demonstrate a variety of different situations with the plane. While I'm not sure exactly what section you're referencing, there *are* parts in some of my vids where I include myself deliberately making mistakes (getting energy trapped, for example) to demonstrate a weakness of the aircraft or something. If you're coming in to nitpick the tactics I used in a segment or something, that isn't really the point of the vid.

I still don't understand why he lands normally, just do a war thunder landing. Come in with your gear up at a moderate speed, touch down and you'll slow down real quick then the repair is basically no different even if you grenade your engines on a prop plane.
I wonder what br gaijin in all there wisdom will end up sticking the su-24 at. Probably some goofy br and continue there br compression trend.

There are a significant number of ground attack jets that are supposed to have a radar set and don't, some (like this A-6E) have them modeled but not functional. My guess is that they are waiting for when they introduce air-to-ground radar as a baseline feature, and THEN a lot of these jets will suddenly find themselves with a radar set. Thats just a guess though.

I play on ps4 myself.. should I be Lasing targets prior to GBU drops, or laser once released. Looking for button layout ideas, never used smart munitions in game lol
Both are valid strats, but my personal preference is to lase before drop.

@@cndmarksmen7383 There isn't any way to cycle to next target automagically with the laser targeting pod, you have to un-select your target (I use an overlapped keybind to clear all active targets from all sensors) and then re-target the next guy manually.

My three WT review formats are quick reviews, basic reviews, and detailed reviews.
Quick reviews are usually new versions of stuff I've already covered in the past (F-104S-ASA after I'd done the F-104S already, things like that) where I mostly just talk about whats different. Basic reviews are like this A-6E review. Detailed reviews are usually longer and go into .. more detail .. about some new feature or something - like the Mig-29 with the helmet mounted targeting system.

what if aircraft can have a base BR (or example 9.7) but you can choose to add missiles that will bump your BR up (like 10.3)? would this fix A-10's entering the fight, getting a cheap missile kill and die? i don't really know and would like to see if you could test flying bad planes with good missiles and then without the missiles because i only have 1 jet on sweden and no money for premiums. It’s a sorta fun plane but I would much rather of just got a 11.0 dedicated fighter like every other nation except for the bomb truck. It’s why nato usually get dumped on nowadays at 10.0 too many a10s and a6’s means instead of all together it’s pretty much go in alone and get jumped by 3 fighters. The f4’s and f5’s usually are carrying bombs too so pretty much the entire team is bombers and get tromped by fighters from Russia. And with everyone going in alone american win rates are garbage lately
