You seem to miss one thing... The AV-8A can be much more comfortable to grind as it is more likely to downtier or play in 10.0 and lower matches. The F-5C is VERY regularly up tiered to 11.0 matches which can severely hurt your grind speed if you get skyflashed b4 you even drop bomb or kill someone. A thing to keep in mind. This alone makes me prefer playing the AV-8A over the F-5C most days.
How easy is it to get lions and stuff? Because I get absolutely hammered in the f5c, it gets outmatched when the other team is full of migs, is it easier with the AV-8A?

@@ascarixv3765 I used to f89d to grind out the f4e from the first jets... realistically with premium and decent playing you can net about 100k RP in a day. Things to consider is that top tier costs a stupid amount to get to, 1 million SL +200k to crew the f4c and f4e.... SL will definitely be the issue, you can get the RP quick but the SL grind sucks. I have 220 games in the f89d and gained 4.32 million SL which is about 20k per game.

Thank you for the review, I bought AV-8A on discount to play with my friends on air sim and to take out helicopters and aircraft in Ground realistic. Once I get the hang of jets, I probably get the F-5C later, hopefully during summer sales.
This harrier has ballistic computers for its cannon as well. It’s not useful in air to air combat, but can be extremely useful attacking ground targets in air rb. You can save a tons of ammunition and gets more targets before you run out of ammo or fuel, it takes only a few round or a single tap to take out a soft round target like AA gun. This helps you to grind some extra xp and sl when your team is is winning, I found it’s very easy to take out 8+ some time even ~20 ground targets in a round. Btw, the counter measures pod takes up the 500lb bomb’s slot not the 1000lb bomb slot, so it’s not a big lost. I would take 2*1000lb bomb and the counter measures pod layout in most cases. My basic routine for this plane is fly low at high subsonic, take a detour, drop bomb at enemy base, and come back to air combat
It's weird, right? The Harrier might not be "as good" as most things like dogfighting or even carrying ordnance, but it sits at a BR and tier where it is about as good, if not better than, the F-5C when it comes to grinding.
My 1st Harrier was the GR.3 that i had a relatively good time with, and only took a few days to spade, after I unlocked the bombs. Its VTOL only came useful once on Severesk-13 where in a late game i managed to land on the roof of that school building at B and capture it (harder to land this than a heli btw), and i was giggling a lot when the enemy was running circles around the zone having no clue whey they can't retake it.
If you are questioning what you should use to grind the F14, the AV8 is 100% the way to go. It has a much better BR than the F5 which will be constantly uptiered when the f14 releases, and the A10 while good at CAS, it is unreliable in air RB.
I’m definitely going to get this plane whenever I can. I was going to get the F5c but it really does not have favourable matchmaking, while this does. Harriers also look super good
I don’t know why people still think the gr1 and SRAAMs are op, the thing is literally too slow to use the SRAAMs and everything else is too fast. Plus its repair cost is 12k sl despite it being a premium plane
I have one and love it, I regularly get 2-3 kills per game, you just have to get without 0.75 miles and it is an almost guaranteed kill, it is very easy to get this close to someone if you dive from above (harrier climbs great). Given premium bonuses I usually get around 5K rp per battle after getting 2/3s of a base and a kill or two
Yall are complaining for nothing You can at least dodge missiles and have something better than aim-9b's. You even have flares for fucks sake! I fly the F-104, which has a higher repair costs and literally no positives and can't dodge or use countermeasures. The only way you survive is if the enemies fuck up
I absolutely love this plane it allowed me to get from 7.7 to at the time 10.7 in a matter of 2 weeks. Not only is fantastic at researching but prints money especially with a premium account with the kills equaling over 7500SL a piece.
@@fidus868 this is probably a cope on my part but I justify it as an entertainment expense yea it’s $60 but I can have endless fun with it and others while if I were to take that $60 and spend it on other entertainment means yea I might have more fun immediately but it’s Most likely a one time deal therefore over time I’ll get more entertainment from purchasing pixels in a game. Idk that’s just how I justify spending money on this game 😅
You missed a key thing on both gr1 and av they both can land and rearm at helicopter pads is ground rb. Yes it takes a bit of skill but its much quicker then flying all the way back too the air field
I think the harrier stacks up well to the F5 simply because it’s a whole bracket lower and I think it handles uptiers better than the F5 in my experience
This plane is fairly OP in sim battles EC matches. Just a heads up. I know sim battles aren't that popular but this thing is a real pain to fight as the missles are fantastic vs. mostly aim-9b and gun armed fighters. Plus it is super fast there as well.
It sucks people don't like Sim, that's the best game mode just non stop combat if the lobby is full and it's an evolving battle not just a team death match like RB.
I’m pretty new, I’m just now researching the middle of tier 4 American props and I’m very tired of props. I really want jets and I’m thinking to buy this one to help the grind, should I? F5c I purchased it first and it was a horrible grind plane. You usually get tiered up to 11.0 br planes and dies before you reaches the enemy bases it instead let you lose silver lions way faster
nah you’re probably playing wrong then cause i went from 4.3 to 10.0 in 5 days of grinding with the f5c with over 90k sl almost each match. i’m sitting at 1.3m sl right now while grinding RP for the 104c

My friend bought this last summer, we flew together for a few matches, he informs me on the god tier AIM-9G, the seemlingly bottomless supply of Flares, but also an absolutely god awful turn rate. He wasn't using his thrust vector at first but it doesn't help at all anyways. We later did some 1v1s with his AV8 versing my F-100 and Phantoms (Both C and E), We concluded that the AV-8A has little chance at beating the F-100 and F-4E in a dogfight, and goes basically toe to toe with an F-4C phantom. I would class that as god awful dogfighting abilities.
I switched over to pc and used the AV-8 in Air AB to quickly grind the American Air tree by high altitude bombing in 2 days I went from tier 1 to tier 4 with the 600% Rp bonus from the premium vehicle talisman and prem time easily making 11K per loss 17k per win by climbing to 10km at the start of ground attack before I can be spotted leaving me completely invisible to most players without crew upgrades killing a base every 3m30s its just a really good low difficulty grinding plane

the av8a overheats because it overheated in real life. thats how it was made bud. the engines were never ran in real life over 75% for more then 2 minutes. they only used them over 75% when taking off or when needing extra power for a short duration. dont use throttle in game past 89% for long when it gets yellow i turn it down cause orange hits right after quick. when it gets dark orange turn back down. the more you stay in dark orange the more your engine gets fucked up and the temp where red starts gets lowered the longer you stay in dark orange. so if you stay in dark orange you will reach red quicker and quicker each time you repeat doing it. dont worry it is still faster accelerating then almost every aircraft up to 10.3 even at 75%-89% throttle.
As someone who plays sim, the av8 isn't worth it. It's in the top tier bracket alongside the F5. The f5 can carry more ordinance, is faster, more agile and a great great dogfighter. The harrier is more limited in its capabilities. So for anyone thinking or purchasing 1 of the 2 aircraft, get the F5
i personaly prefer f5c i bought it as a new player (very bad decision) it was very hard to learn top tier but now i think it was good decision because i learned how to play it idk how harriers/av8's are doing but my f5c can get 13-20k research per match with premium account for new players i don't reccomend ANY jet premium or top tier tank if you are new you should grind 4 rank without premium jet and then decide you should buy it or not sorry for my english i'm not native speaker
the f-5c is terrible its a higher br that gets instantly shot down by 11.0 missles i cant even do good anymore since the mig 23 and 27 were added and its slower by alot than all the planes it fights
I agree. The BR makes the plane shit. It stomps anything at or below its BR, but it has absolutely no counterplay against 11.0s. meanwhile, the AV-8A has to fight 10.7s at the worst, and the difference between 10.7 and 11.0 is enourmous.
And considering now there is the A-10A in the game that does CAS a lot better with much better avionics (RWR, Mavericks, GBUs, Brrt, 480 Chaff/Flares) one must wonder what the AV-8 is for nowadays.
It's kinda of a VTOL hybrid between the A-10A and F-5C. Got the good missiles, and is versatile. Still performs better then the A-10, but is still a sub sonic. TLDR it's interesting to play.
Harrier is not as maneuverable as most jets around it but it has speed I recommend climbing high bobbing a base going back up than diving for 2 missile kills then repeat this is fire American harrier
I bought the AV8 while it was on sale and imo I’d say it’s great when it’s played to its strengths I.e bomb their base then play support and let your teammates dog fight lend a hand when you can. Can’t comment on the yak38 as haven’t played. Amount of GE and SL you get is insane
The thing that I fear most is the snail decides to nerf it by taking out its CM, not gonna lie I've got the GR1 with a 90% discount and then about a week they decide to nerf it. :( Even though I got that much discount I feel betrayed. 10.0 BR is not that fun most of the time, while everybody can best you in all aspects. If your team furball has fallen apart there is nothing you can do even run.
Because almost every russian jet they fight in their downtiers has no flares and their useless R-3S missiles will never hit a decent AV-8A pilot. You're thinking about AV-8A versus other USA planes and not the intended enemy, USSR

@@TheFatDwarfHugo I played 8.3 a lot and get a bit stuck there - I have to fight the premium thermal tank all the time. At 8.7 it was getting better. The TURMS is a safer approach, but yeah a very skilled player would gain more RP and SL with the T-55 then the T-72.
Bit late of a reply but no, you can buy any premium plane at any point the only thing you need is the 10k SL crew cost and at any br that’s a pretty low cost
I’d say get it, simply because it doesn’t matter if you’re 3.0 or 7.0, switching from prop to jets is a massive learning curve regardless as not a lot of prop tactics carry over. I’d say if you know the game pretty well and are willing to spend some time with setting up keybindings and getting a feel for what works in test flight, go for it, the plane is great for grinding the US air tree and amazing at CAS in ground RB
I prefer the F-5C due to its turning/gunfighting capabilities, but I also don't mind facing 11.0BR vehicles. If you'd prefer not to be uptiered, and would like a nice ballistics computer, plus good grinding, the AV-8A may be the way to go.
depends, if you're looking for a pure fighter then the F5C is a better choice since its turn rate are quite excellent, however keep in mind that as a F5C owner, I do get uptiered often to 11.0 which are Viggens, MiGs and Phantoms playground. Mostly, your only choice is to head-on enemies at that tier unless you can catch supersonic jet with the AIM 9E or the cannons. Downtier however, the F5C is quite good albeit watch out for A5c with their magics. On other hand, the AV-8A at 9.7 got lot of countermeasures and 2x AIM 9G (which is the missile of the British Phantoms at 11.0) and for a premium, the repair cost aren't really that high compared to the British one as said by Tankenstein himself. The AV-8C on the tech tree one boast higher repair cost obviously (higher than British GR.1 if spaded)

if your into sim even the slightest i 100% recomend. I literally went from f80 to harrier to f4e/f5e/ a8e cant get enough of vtol naval strike missions sinking carriers with zunis bombing bases and 2 free aim 9 g kills in rb
They're decent. Not great, but not the worst. You pretty much have to be directly behind someone and they have to not use countermeasures, but it will track through some light maneuvers by enemies.

The av8a is probably better for newer players as its at a lower br and has better missiles and a ballistic computer. If your new to top tier the av8a is a safe bet but if your looking for a challenge and a rewarding playing experience id get the f5c they both grind very well and its really just your skill level.
@@dablb the russian jets that are at 9.7 have missiles (the Yak-38 gets R-60's at 9.3 where you rarely see flares - Yak-38M get R-60's too) yeah they might be only 10g's but they still get them + every 9.7 russian jet has a higher top speed than the AV-8A, im not saying the AV-8A is bad i own it and its amazing, but no its not op. (it does have flares which is a little unfair but it has a very bad turn which makes it hard to dodge missiles)

How long did it take? I’m almost finished with tier 4 and will start researching the early jets and I want a rough idea of the time frame

The AV8a is the only premium I've ever bought, and I don't regret it.

i personaly prefer f5c
i bought it as a new player (very bad decision) it was very hard to learn top tier
but now i think it was good decision because i learned how to play it
idk how harriers/av8's are doing but my f5c can get 13-20k research per match with premium account
for new players
i don't reccomend ANY jet premium or top tier tank
if you are new you should grind 4 rank without premium jet and then decide you should buy it or not

the f-5c is terrible its a higher br that gets instantly shot down by 11.0 missles i cant even do good anymore since the mig 23 and 27 were added and its slower by alot than all the planes it fights
I agree. The BR makes the plane shit. It stomps anything at or below its BR, but it has absolutely no counterplay against 11.0s. meanwhile, the AV-8A has to fight 10.7s at the worst, and the difference between 10.7 and 11.0 is enourmous.

And considering now there is the A-10A in the game that does CAS a lot better with much better avionics (RWR, Mavericks, GBUs, Brrt, 480 Chaff/Flares) one must wonder what the AV-8 is for nowadays.
It's kinda of a VTOL hybrid between the A-10A and F-5C. Got the good missiles, and is versatile. Still performs better then the A-10, but is still a sub sonic. TLDR it's interesting to play.

Harrier is not as maneuverable as most jets around it but it has speed I recommend climbing high bobbing a base going back up than diving for 2 missile kills then repeat this is fire American harrier

I bought the AV8 while it was on sale and imo I’d say it’s great when it’s played to its strengths I.e bomb their base then play support and let your teammates dog fight lend a hand when you can. Can’t comment on the yak38 as haven’t played. Amount of GE and SL you get is insane
The F5C is alot more fun to me sure it has bad missles but it puts migs to shame

The thing that I fear most is the snail decides to nerf it by taking out its CM, not gonna lie I've got the GR1 with a 90% discount and then about a week they decide to nerf it. :(

10.0 BR is not that fun most of the time, while everybody can best you in all aspects. If your team furball has fallen apart there is nothing you can do even run.

Both are good so you can't go wrong with any of them, but i think the T55AM is the better of the two just because it is OP af

At 8.7 it was getting better.
The TURMS is a safer approach, but yeah a very skilled player would gain more RP and SL with the T-55 then the T-72.
The T72 can hold it's own great in an uptier the T55 can not

I’d say get it, simply because it doesn’t matter if you’re 3.0 or 7.0, switching from prop to jets is a massive learning curve regardless as not a lot of prop tactics carry over. I’d say if you know the game pretty well and are willing to spend some time with setting up keybindings and getting a feel for what works in test flight, go for it, the plane is great for grinding the US air tree and amazing at CAS in ground RB
I want to buy a premium in the us tech tree but i dont know if i should get the av8a or the f5c what should i get?
I prefer the F-5C due to its turning/gunfighting capabilities, but I also don't mind facing 11.0BR vehicles. If you'd prefer not to be uptiered, and would like a nice ballistics computer, plus good grinding, the AV-8A may be the way to go.

i love it but it is almost useless as a fighter
depends, if you're looking for a pure fighter then the F5C is a better choice since its turn rate are quite excellent, however keep in mind that as a F5C owner, I do get uptiered often to 11.0 which are Viggens, MiGs and Phantoms playground. Mostly, your only choice is to head-on enemies at that tier unless you can catch supersonic jet with the AIM 9E or the cannons. Downtier however, the F5C is quite good albeit watch out for A5c with their magics.
On other hand, the AV-8A at 9.7 got lot of countermeasures and 2x AIM 9G (which is the missile of the British Phantoms at 11.0) and for a premium, the repair cost aren't really that high compared to the British one as said by Tankenstein himself. The AV-8C on the tech tree one boast higher repair cost obviously (higher than British GR.1 if spaded)

They're decent. Not great, but not the worst. You pretty much have to be directly behind someone and they have to not use countermeasures, but it will track through some light maneuvers by enemies.

@@urgentlygaming6410 I would get the f5c its a all around better plane with better manueverablity payload and more accurate guns. The av8a is probably better for newer players as its at a lower br and has better missiles and a ballistic computer. If your new to top tier the av8a is a safe bet but if your looking for a challenge and a rewarding playing experience id get the f5c they both grind very well and its really just your skill level.

@@dablb the russian jets that are at 9.7 have missiles (the Yak-38 gets R-60's at 9.3 where you rarely see flares - Yak-38M get R-60's too) yeah they might be only 10g's but they still get them + every 9.7 russian jet has a higher top speed than the AV-8A, im not saying the AV-8A is bad i own it and its amazing, but no its not op. (it does have flares which is a little unfair but it has a very bad turn which makes it hard to dodge missiles)
