- Scott Toy Guru Neitlich from Spector Creative looks at MOTU Classics and the factors that allowed such a vast character selection as well as what factors may prevent it from ever being replicated or coming back. The Toy Industry reviewed and examined.
Classics pretty much changed the way adult oriented action figures are made and marketed, tbh. While a lot of the way things are done now are in common with shoe drops, MOTU classics was the line that showed companies that this is possible
Very much so.
MOTUC is the 2nd most important line in motu world, and it would be hard to other line could reach that level, period
Not an easy goal to hit, I know
1st is the original 😟
It hit that exact sweet spot of nostalgia with the adults and that exact sweet spot of "we just had a cartoon" with everybody else.
Still holding out hope the new cartoon does well!
That turned into a shit show really fast….
I think they would have been beautiful if the packaging was just closer to the vintage. It’s hard to ignore how awesome it is to see how the origins are packed. I would have kept all my classics in package if they did it that way 100% for displayability. I really wasn’t nuts over how they did the classics packaging, but that’s just me…
@@actionthatsucks I know what you mean about the Classics packaging, but in a way I'm kinda glad that they didn't make really awesome display packages. I've got my MOTU Classics He-man out of box and being able to actually hold the figure in hand and admire it is a guilty pleasure 😁👏
Indeed, it was lightning in a bottle. Here in the Philippines, when MOTUC first came out, the figures were already sold twice its price in specialty toy stores due to its being an online-only exclusive, cost of import, etc. But it was an amazing, sturdy, good-looking line of figures, compared to figures produced during that time. The characters which I was able to get hold of, I already consider my ultimate versions like He-Man, Skeletor, King Grayskull re-issue and Moss Man. I feel no need to get the Super 7, Origins ones, even the new Revelations line. But I wish the new retail products as well as the Netflix show would be very successful for the MOTU brand's longevity. I enjoy all of the Classics secrets and great content/videos, thank you Toy Guru!
Glad to have you on board the line and now the channel!
Super 7 literally makes millions of dollars to this day because of you, The Four Horsemen, and MOTUC. I collect the Filmation figures and while I know some of them were made by Super 7, it still wouldn't be possible without you guys. Oh and I have to say the anticipation waiting for it to come in the mail is fun. It makes me excited for something and that is very rare in adult life
Well Brian is a great guy and I hope Super 7 does fantastic
I never get tired of listing of more info and back story about the classics. I didn't even know they exited till around 2016. I collected most of the line mint on card since then including super7 stuff and snake mountain. Im proud as well as eshamed to admit those figures cost around 7000 dollars over time on the secondary market to get. They are really expensive and a really great collection to have.
A lot of,people spend that much money on alcohol in a single year. Don't feel too bad - at least you have the figures to show for it!
@@brushstroke3733 thanks!
Yea thats a good point. My father was a alcoholic and spent enough money on booze in 10 years to build 2 houses in the day at cost
The classics are great and so glad these figures exist.thanks for encouragment. Its the little things in this life that bring the most happiness, and they still cost thousands of dollars, lol
If only we could have had a bigger marketing budget!
The Classics line is still my favorite version of MOTU. The size, design, paint, sculpt and everything else was basically perfect.
Mine too
I am a proud owner of every figure released in the Classics line (except of course those corporate gift King Grayskull figures) and the SDCC Bronze Grayskull. Have everything up to Snake Mountain. It's TRULY the greatest toyline in the universe! It's insane the wide variety of characters we got! Thank you Scott! I do wished we got more vehicles though
Nice, thank you so much for supporting the line!
My wish is that there will be additions of new characters and factions introduced into the new MOTU Origins figure line. I grew up with MOTU and remember the Horde and Snake Men being introduced and how amazing it was that there were not only new figures but new characters as well. In recent years, toy companies have gone full nostalgia and haven't introduced any new characters. Yeah, it's awesome to finally get Ninjor as I missed him back in the 80's but how cool would it be to have something original?
I hope so too, but it will be up to kids at this point
Well, we're getting MOTU Revelation anyway. Hopefully, they perform
I share in this hope
Revelations sucks, Origins is good, but classics rules.
Im not even wasting my money on Revelations. Im happy with the kid friendly Origins!
Well more MOTU is all I want to see
Revelations looks terrible with those tiny heads and weird mid sections. Unfortunately I never had the time or means to get into Classics but Origins is right up my street.
@@cetialphav3214 it's funny you say that. I think Origins looks terrible because of the unrealistic length of their arms
Agree 100%!
As a young adult collector gosh I'm so jealous I wish I didn't miss this
Well their is always hope of it coming back
Could you do some more videos about tooling and the actual production process in general?
Why does tooling wear out? What is it made of? Why is it still done by hand (if it still is, one would think that in the year 2021 there are other options available)? And how does the production work? do figures have to be produced on after another essentially? how do they get assembled? how do they get painted etc. pp.
Hope, you'll read and consider my comment. thanks in advance. :)
Did you see this one? ruclips.net/video/bInK-LQot4o/видео.html
as far as i remember from those days, the online buying experience was the worst part of the process to get the figures. almost every online launch of a figure was met with complaints after. some forums were savage about that issue.
Oh it had major problems, but after it was all over snd the dust settled....
Very insightful video! Classics is what got me back into the He-Man brand after so many years, and back into toy collecting in general. This video also might explain why Super 7 Ultimates figures cost so much.
Glad it was enjoyed! Topic suggestions always appreciated
Classics was done by a team of passionate people. From digging deep into the lore to seeking means to add extra's for the sake of consumer satisfaction. The line had everything we could ever hope for. Every time i bought one it ended up out of the package and into my hands. As a consumer , i definatly feel pride in owning them and being able to display them.
Oh yes made with love
I just wanna say thank you for making your videos it really shows a different perspective most collectors will never be blessed enough to get but my father me and my son are all super into your videos please keep up the good work my biggest hope for the origins line is to get to do thunder punch heman it was my fathers favorite and if it kicks out and gets to be a deluxe figure it could I believe get the action feature like the vintage
I am glad they are being enjoyed! Suggestions for topics always welcome!
To be fair, and I have no idea if you'll see this and, I'm also glad you're not saying it yourself (otherwise someone will have a moan about it), but part of the reason (or possibly the main reason) Classics did so well was because of you! You were the one who kept pushing it, pushing it to your suits, past the idiot, spoilt fan-boy-man-child complaining about everything, past the drama and the rising prices. I think a lot of people forget why the line did so well and lasted as long as it did. I mean, think about it. We were getting these figures (for like 5-6 years) for $20!! That's crazy given that these were made so well, customisable, came with so many well made accessories, expanded the storyline and enabled so many people out there to essentially build careers and more importantly happiness out of this line. So Scott, from the bottom of my anonymous heart, THANK YOU! You were the lightening in that bottle.
I appreciate the kind words, but I want to make sure Bill, Terry and the Four Horsemen get so much of the credit too!
*6:27* They were value for money they were far more than double the quality, all the way through the line. I was always impressed with that, the benchmark they set was maintained.
PS if the line could return I wouldn’t balk at a $35-45 or so price point. It’s still a good price and would I hope enable the brand to flourish.
It would be at about that price
I am still so glad I was around when Classics started and have every figure :) Still sad we did not get all the figures from New Adventures of He Man but I really appreciate what we did get. I hope lighting strikes twice with both Thundercats Ultimates and Silverhawks Ultimates because I want to go all in with those lines. Again Toy Guru thanks for all you did to makes Classics happen. On a side note, there are just so many AMAZING collector's toys in recent history like Classics as well as the Haslab stuff, it would be awesome to have examples of these on display in a museum for people to see who missed out. I am hoping we will see something like this in the upcoming Comic Con museum in San Diego.
Thanks so much for supporting the line and now watching the channel!
Aside from the original, vintage MOTU action figures, MOTU Classics was a really worthy successor to the throne. What a gift to collectors, possibly the perfect example of how to appeal to the adult collector audience. The current MOTU Origins line is a satisfactory update for modern times and the line does have some really great features (the swappable bodies and appendages) but the standard He-man headsculpt is a big miss in my opinion. The Origins Skeletor is my favorite figure from the current line. We won't mention the abomination that was the 200X series 😂😂😂
Thanks for the Classics Toy Guru, in the words of the Junkman: "ya did good" 😁👍
the first origins skeletor had the absolute worst head sculpt?? But, imho they redeemed themselves with the rereleased "vintage" style heads... They may have simply done this on purpose to sell more heman and skeletor figures(?) Since that is their bread and butter...
All made from love
I'm sad I was never able to grab a Mattie Collector figure til recently. I loved how they went above and beyond with the accuracy and detail of each figure! Truly this line was " Lightning in a bottle!"
And an honor to have worked on it
@@spectorcreative1872 Thank you! Youve done a marvelous job! I just wish these suckers weren't so elusive or expensive!!!!
As always love your content but I was intrigued when you said that now it would be a 39.99 toy line and I'm currently into super 7 ultimates in your opinion is there 54.99 price tag justified just curious specially from your point of view maybe a good idea for a future video. I do love there toy lines I was hoping they could keep going with the filmation line.
Well it depends on the production run. The smaller, the higher the cost to make
I think this has already been asked but I don't know if it's still on your list of upcoming videos. If companies depend on reusing tooling to generate profits, what options are there for lines that require a lot of tooling? For example, the classic star wars line by Kenner. Are there ways to make the process cheaper? Thanks.
There really are not any other options to tooling. 3D printing one day but we are a long way off
I wish I would have gotten on board with the classics line. Too expensive now but they are super cool. I am collecting the origins line now and of course, have my 9 original figures sitting on the shelf.
We needed all the sales we could get. Such a low run line
I would not be surprised to see MOTUC style figures appear in Masterverse down the road if things continue to be successful
It would be nice, but I am not holding my beath
MOTU Classics will come back and it will bring the Filmation stuff along with it. It has to and thats just the way things are these days.
One can hope!
Add to that is the fact that unless it's mostly reissues, there aren't that many new figures you can make for the line that haven't already been covered.
Very much so!
I am so lucky that I got Galactic Protector He-Man, he's one of my favourite figures, Classics really was something special.
Figure came out so much better than I was expecting!
@@spectorcreative1872 I absolutely adore his retro future aesthetic and I love that he's able to hold aloft the Power Sword.
I would love to see a full on necromancer version of Skeletor.
You mean Skelegod?
@@spectorcreative1872 I will get that figure when I can afford it. You are right that it matches my idea.
Mattel should have just let Super 7 continue to put out MOTU Classics for the adult collectors online if they don't want to do them at the present time.
Well alas we don't control what they do.
Interestingly, I've recently seen a big display for MOTU Origins just outside Walmart's toy isle next to the Space Jam toy display. It probably doesn't mean much other than Canada is a little slow at times.
And outside the US, retail is a not quite the same
5:43 You mentioned before tools are sometimes sold as anchors, is this why?
Yup
Thanks for covering this topic, Scott. I've managed to get on the secondary markets from of the MOTU Classics figures, but I'm not going to pay the over-inflated prices that some MOTU Classics figures are going for...like MOTU Classics Queen Marlena. At this point, I'll just have to wait and see who gets a Classics-like license. Otherwise, I'm having a blast with the MOTU Origins line and--when I can find them--the Masters of the WWE line.
Yup, we are all in a wait and see! Thanks for the kind words and taking the time to comment
There are also the factors of availability and shipping to take in to consideration. Being convention/online exclusives mean scalpers might snag it all if limited quantity purchase is not implemented. When/If you manage to get it the high shipping cost to other countries will be another hurdle to consider upon 🤔.
We did have this issue with bots for a while which is why we used RECapcha
There has been some talk of leaked motu origins and revelations out today and the most curious among the talk is an origins Sun-Man. I had to do a lil research learn about who he was and being made by Olmec. Which has people wondering if Mattel may have absorbed this line back in the day. Any thoughts on him being in origins could possible mean if it is in fact true?
Well I don't think Mattel owns Sun Man so I am not sure about this one
I would love to see a video on tooling, how they are made, how they wear out, how the figures are made from them etc, I think it would be fascinating. Might also be a good vid to include how the original line was resurrected when they brought back the 80's figures in the two-packs. Great video once again!

Thank you, very informative. MOTUC had a lot of interesting offerings. Seeing the Castle Greyskull in that scale made me hopeful one day Hssbro would release one of their bigger playsets more in scale with 4" Joe's compared to the 80s 3¾". It never happened. I think the days of seeing a Joe playset are gone forever. I read a lot of the molds were lost due to their South America factory. I'm sure MOTUC has similar mold stories. Thanks again for the info. I'm curious what the next five years will bring for MOTU.
Do you remember if the Classics all had the same run quantity of figures? Or, due to shared parts, were so many arms, so many torsos, etc? Just curious. Thank you.
OH yes getting to that Castle was a dream come true!
People don’t always understand how tooling wears out or what that means. If you want a good example, just look at bootleg figures. A lot of them are produced using salvaged(or stolen) molds that are past their prime.
Perfect example!
I’m not sure if you can answer this. My local Target is putting the masterverse figures next to the current DC figures, rather than near the origins figures. When I look at the little price tags on the shelf, I can’t find any MOTU ones, only DC, so I’m convinced this is a store error. Are other Targets doing this? If so, why wouldn’t they put them near the origins line?
Targets are supposed to follow the planogram but as they get ready for the Aug switch over some things float around
Its also hard to believe that they won't bring back classics after Hasbro has Super7 doing Transformers, Power Rangers and GI Joe now.
Stranger things have happened. Just look at Rise of Skywalker
The future for action figures is online worldwide selling, not outdated waiting for stores to see if something comes in. In Europe we don't even have a choice at this point. It's online or nothing. MOTU classics is not a one time gig, it's the future that was ahead of it's time.
A good way of putting it!
Another great video man! You mentioned tooling Falls apart, but in your other videos you mention that other tooling lasted decades so they were able to put out new toys using the same tools. The only example that comes to mind is the power of the force stuff 2 and some other modern Star Wars stuff. Did Mattel just have less quality builds on their tooling equipment? Genuinely curious, thank you again.
I have a video coming soon examining just this! Stay tuned
Revelations is just the intro to the Masterverse line, based on what I've seen/heard from various folks from Mattel eluding to in the various talks/pitches over the last couple years. At least that's how I understand it. Maybe re-issues of the Classics series could fit into the Masterverse line, with new packaging, maybe different paint schemes and/or accessories. I think right now everything is hinging on how well received the Netflix show is. Revelations could also drum up more retail interest in Origins if enough people watch it. I'm not crazy about some of the plot points I've seen but I'm still going to watch it and give it a fair chance. But it doesn't make a lot of sense to me why they would create a 3rd action figure line for the 2nd MOTU Netflix show they're working on. It's just going to compete with Origins.
It may be too much at once. Interesting
I think it would be great if you could make a video talking about Classic’s Mini-Comics. what went into making it? Why y’all decided to combine all the different MOTU Shows and comics in one story instead of just separating the different media? Also, what’s the business advantage of creating a new story for classic.
See hereruclips.net/video/3CdsOb7e-tg/видео.html
To speak truly from my heart i prefer those new origins they made because looks more classic to me,and they are cheaper to approach.Speaking for approach it is also easier to find and soon we will see them probably in most of the toys stores as well from mattel instead get to the line for online & comic-con's and shit with over the top high prices!
And one of the best parts of having so many MOTU toys is getting to choose what appeals to each of us!
@@spectorcreative1872 The classics are the originals i grew up so i don't mind if i don't have the expensive comic-con rare releases!
Masters of the Universe Classis are my favorite Masters ever. I don`t care about old they are, because Masters of the Universe ist the star!
Those Classics look vastly better than what they produce now much like the shows or relaunch movies like Evil Dead compared to the Original. Though I really get freaked out by the heads or hands removing to be replaced as modern toys seem to do. I have dreams of having a nice room filled with anything I want if I ever get rich. Yet I'd probably freak out as even that Merman head from a prior video shook me more than it should. They need to find a way to make tooling cheaper seems to be the main problem. If they could develop a method for that aspect to be easier or cheaper the details would improve. I thought of you recently when I saw Britt Baker's AEW action figure the head don't look like her nor do the eyes lineup. I swear I don't even think the eyes are lined up properly its probably some repaint or repurpose. Certain eras or lines even of the same character to me seem amazing while the other versions lacking. I wish I owned many I see in these videos while other figures I'm like meh :).
Well all was made with so much love for the brand
@@spectorcreative1872 Yeah well it seemed to show to me at least. Other stuff is a bit lifeless at times or lacking something as I guess they just want to get it done not do it right or the little things liek you would fight for ;).
Interesting to compare the niche longevity of MOTUC to the mass market shooting star of MotUO
it's only mass market "shooting star" because literally it filled a void. Honestly, the majority of the figures are NOT worth $15+, compared to other figures, this isn't the 80s, where poor quality and painting was the norm. Origins was meant to fill a void between MotuC and Relevations. Let's be honest, most kids today couldn't sit through an episode of Filmation's series.
I do try to give subjects to talk about!
@@lewismatthewj I mostly agree with you, except I think the retail price of the figures is fair. $16 is the price of two inexpensive lunches out - it's the price of a good twelve pack of beer or maybe three pints at a bar. It's really not that much coin for some pretty sturdy figures with decent articulation and overall appearance. They're functional and fun, not perfect.
When I consider what's involved in making them and distributing them, I'm actually shocked at how affordable they are. Oil has to be found and pumped out of the ground, then refined into plastics, then transported to distributors, then sent to toy factories for their injection molding machines. Those injection molding machines aren't cheap, and the molds aren't cheap either. Then the molded parts get assembled and painted in many places. Next they are packaged with beautifully printed cardbacks. Finally they are bundled and shipped across the ocean, put on trucks, and brought to your local store or even delivered to your house. All that for $15.99 seems quite incredible if you ask me!

Hey Scott any theory you might have to explain why Classics reaches those after market prices today? Please Make a video! Btw I met you at NYCC 2013 and we talked about Camo Khan, I’m from Argentina. It was great meeting you!
Well basically because they were amazing toys and no longer available.
Not all Classics figures got high after market prices , many are "virtual peg warmers" at ebay since years .
I remember back in the days was many Classics figures not so popular at ebay , I have win many at auctions under the original price . The biggest win back in the days was the Star Sisters package just for 22 Euro with free shipping .
After winning many auctions at ebay , sellers had send me messages if I'm interest to buy more MOTUC figures because they had problems to get rid of them .
One important factor behind the success of the MOTUC line, I believe, was that the figures' proportions were, by far, the closest to the Filmation show ( by design! ), and are still, based on a majority of comments I have read online, the most pleasing to collectors, esthetically. In other words, the figures looked ( really ) good _and_ authentic. In fact, we're seeing a fair bit of push-back, already, from collectors on the Revelations line, in terms of looks; the new line, while not bad by any stretch, doesn't compare favorably on that front. ...We'll have to see how it, and the show, does with kids - as that will indeed be the determining factor here.
P.S. Where are injection molds stored; do they stay on-site, near the factory - in China? Also, isn't there a process ( like: coating them with silicone grease, prior to storage, maybe ) to retard oxidization? ...Who's responsible for them?
Oh yes, the proportions are key
Origins Sorceress please!
Make it happen Mattel
In hindsight do you think it was a calculated mistake to keep pricing the same for years then bump it when you had no choice by 5 dollars. Or do you think it would have helped to train us at the time by slowly increasing the price possibly a dollar at a time or even 50 cents every year.
Honestly, I think if we kept increasing it each year that might have been worse. But you never know
It’s a good question given today’s market. My brother just spent $50+ on each of Super7’s newly announced GI Joe 7 inch figs. I came close to dropping the same for Super7’s Silverhawks and did so for a few of their Conan figs, which take advantage of the MOTU Classics buck Super7 used when they had the MOTU license.
Maybe in 40 years we will see a MOTU Classics Origin line! :D
My gosh that would be surreal!
Keep origins coming, no more revelations
It is up to kids and retailers. Not looking good
@@spectorcreative1872 Why is it not looking good? The figures fly off shelves, to the point that it's almost impossible to find anything that isn't He-Man or Skeletor.
Classics is still the benchmark for MOTU. I can't see much topping it.
Is it sad that I'm nostalgic for a time that wasn't even that long ago???
I felt like everything was damn near perfect back then.
But as Q said;
"All good things must come to an end." 😕
And we must all do what Q says at all times. So says Riker
I get the feeling that Mattel never really believed in the classics line, and it was just through yours and your team’s fighting for it that it existed at all.
It was a great team! The Horsemen, Bill, Terry...
My guess is that if Classics were to get any shot again, it would be an anniversary re-issue of some kind 5-10 years down the road, and then it would only be He-Man and Skeletor. It is a shame as I still want the New Adventures guys and the new characters from the classics mini comics.
Or a con one off maybe
I do wonder, will Classics ever make a come back of a sort, but under the Masterverse umbrella? Masterverse, from the look of it, could offer more than just the Kevin Smith animated series figures. There will be other subsets I bet. Maybe a Classics subset (of main characters) or a 200X subset, etc etc
I'd love to see it but I have my doubts
If I remember correctly It's about $12 per DCUC figure and $20 + shipping for the MOTUC.
It was expensive.
Hahahaha! I still remember thinking 20 dollars for an action figure was outrageous!…..
20 bucks is cheappp
Yes, $20 for what you got was and still is exceptionally cheap! $20 is a meal, an average meal. In exchange, you got something that will last forever, and is a little piece of your childhood, most likely a positive piece. That was the whole point - this was not a retail line and they were producing around 10K for most figures so that price was pretty fantastic.
@@alejandromolinac it wasn't that simple. Matty did not provide any sort of bundled shipping so you're stuck with a $20 figure per month plus shipping which is close to 40 bucks if you live in Canada like me

Would you say that the new GIJoe stuff has any retail staying power? Figures are very scare but my guess is that it's probably not reaching any kids yet. I know the movie is around the corner and they have a kids book out soon.
I fear that the movie's delay may have killed GI Joe at retail. Or at least Classified. It was always meant to run alongside the Snake Eyes movie product. Snake Eyes needs to perform extremely well, both the movie itself and its accompanying toy line.
Yes, but only because it is meant to be part of a larger GI Joe statement around the new movie. Once the movie is over, that is it.
@@spectorcreative1872 I figured. Thank you
What do you think about this new Netflix show?
I'm really hoping for a darker gritty storyline...for grownups.
I feel Teela has every reason to be furious, and I hope Skeletor stops being the cackling mustache twirling bad guy....let the villains be dangerous instead of starting every sentence with "uh duhh"....they got it on S2 of 200x...the bad guys started making progress
Why does everything that was once fun have to be given the "dark, edgy" treatment? It's been done, done again, and then overdone.
Waiting to see it to have an opinon
@@brushstroke3733 Agreed.
@@brushstroke3733 because the people who watched the original show and enjoyed are grownups now and enjoy something with a tad more actual consequences.
The most evil characters in both the real world and fantasy are those who actually think they're doing the right thing.... Mucilini, Pol Pot, Hitler....all thought what they were doing was helping their countries, hell even Ultron and Thanos thought they were bringing peace and prosperity. THATS where the real threat comes from..those twisted enough to think they're right and they have an army who believes them.
No true threat will EVER call themselves 'EEEVIIILLLLLL" and theire evil minions. It's forced and kindergarten. MOTU has created a very rich lore base over its lifetime. Time to really dig in and make it great.
@@collincutler4992 I agree with all that, but Skeletor has a bone face! Masters of the Universe is fun and kitschy, not realistic. But it's cool if someone does want to make the movie or show that you want - it's just not what I'm looking for.
Yes, the real villains are people who imagine they are fighting evil, but I don't see how you'd give old Boneface an illusion of doing good. I could see him more as a Joker type villain who knows he's malevolent but thinks that's what the world deserves because he has been bullied, abondoned, and mistreated all his life for his ugly looks and intelligence that sets him apart. But again, for me, there's enough portrayal of darkness in entertainment already, and it's all around us in culture. I prefer an escape to watch people actually behaving with kindness and compassion, the way the heros always do in the Filmation cartoon.
Could it possible that a classic figure could be released at a Comic Con or Power Con for example? That way Mattel could charge a premium for a one off individual item.
They already charge a premium. Look at the jack up on pricing of the PowerCon origins figures.
Maybe but I wouldn't bet on it for all the reasons noted
I _did_ just nab an origins He-Man figure on clearance…
Clearance is not a good sign....
clearance because they made too many he-men and skelators
Where?
@serick73 ..every thanksgiving figures went on clearance
I was made aware that the count on Saturday was at 24.2K up from 24.1K 😎
Yeah we are rockin it!
You prob hated me…… I only got “core characters”….. the rest I would just wait for Matty’s Thanksgiving sales….. that’s how I got Battle Cat, Swiftwind, and the She-Ra Crew::::::
Mannn...Thanksgiving sales were the Besttt on Matty. I got so many grear figures at rock bottom prices! Now that was fun!!! Even got the Ghostbusters PKE meter cheap!
Not at all! Everyone should get what they want. And thanks for being part of the channel now
A spector in origins would be awsome i was thinking the same thing
If only
Can MOTU be an evergreen property? Can it been an evergreen property from this point forward?
I think it could be if someone who was really passionate about the brand bought the rights to it.
Only if kids get into it
The thumbnail image of lightning in a bottle is perfect. It will go down as one of the all time great lines. Your place in MOTU history is molded in plastic Scott!
Well thank you, it was certainly made with love
@@spectorcreative1872 You could really tell man, everybody loved that line. Of course there was always rancor surrounding the ordering, never had a problem myself but it was in the peripheral. I loved when I would find a pallet inexplicably in a deep discount store, they would vanish fast. The Eternia Dentist set comes to mind.
Isn’t a third line hitting at the end of the year based on the CGI kids show coming out? I feel like Origins is doomed.
Yes. A third line is indeed coming. That is a LOT of MOTU at once
I would say it's great that that the CGI kids show coming out ........ I'm sure the CGI show figures will fail at retail and Origins will win more fans .
The reson why I think so is that kids see the world different , just take the old vintage Star Wars figures ... for me had the figures looked exactly like in the movies , now I got the feeling that I was kind "blind" for many years , lol
It's possible that kids will see no difference between Origins and the CGI figures and play with both at the same time .
Must say one thing I always HATED on the Classics line was those HUGE pin holes on the elbows and knees…. Mattel should had used the same type of joints used on the Monster High and Ever After High doll lines ….
Yeah and I love where technology has gotten that Hasbro does pin less joints now!
We got pinless boots with MOTUC Thunder-Punch He-Man back in 2012!
BRING CLASSICS BACK!!!!!!!!
Make it happen Mattel!
You said it...soooo much has come out...i just spent AUS$200 and NOW they release here in oz more origins....sigh....
Yups
Origins figures at my Walmart, ONLY wave 1 still... the 2 women plus Man At Arms are discounted to under 11 bucks... He-Man and Skeletor are still full-price? LOL.
::buys another Battle Cat to dye black, clearanced to around $17::
That was a big issue with distribtuion
Which is why I bought at least two of everything in the line. One stays sealed the other is out and starring in my own videos. The new series can gender bend and race change anything they want, I know what’s in MY universe.
A great way to do it!
I just picked up my Origins Greyskull for 50.00 on clearance at Wal-Mart. That's both good news and bad news......
Lucky! Got mine last week for $250 USD 😞. Sadly I'm at the mercy of scalpers.
Good for you, but bad for the chance of the brand going long term if already on clearance
@@spectorcreative1872 That's exactly what I mean, bro
@@LordBadenRulez Can you return it ? It's for sale on bigbadtoystore for 84.99
@@Briguy75 thanks mate, but I don't think they deliver to New Zealand. Also, they no longer have it available on their site. At the moment, the only places I can buy from are the Netherlands and UK. I paid through the nose for Greyskull it but at least I got it 👍.
Damn... Too bad I was too young to buy any of this...
There is always ebay...
Ironic that I ended up getting King Grayskull(a blonde guy), Katra and Bow when the figures somehow made it to BIG LOTS….. I have no faith in this Kevin Smith Show…..
Kevin smith....uhhhh
Oh yes, Irony and toys go together well
Need an assistant? I want to work for Spector! 😁
If I ever do I'll give you a call
.6k to 25K 🥳🥳
And that much closer to 50K!
STAR WARS to Masters of the Universe in 1 day. No file corruption here.
No idea why that happened!
I go to Toy Conventions to get the 1980s Versions.
Nice!
What troll voted thumbs down to this video??? Classics really was lightning in a bottle! It was the best thing ever for the motu line to come back!!!
If I only knew
Just got the Netflix one at Walmart they are saleing fast
I hope so!
🙋🏼, I know! It had a Confident & competent brand manager in charge, am I right? 😇😎🤑
One way of putting it!
What’s the Universal reversion? Didn’t Mattel create MOTU? How is the rights going back to Universal, don’t Mattel own MOTU?
See here:ruclips.net/video/H8Qv-y3vVrk/видео.html
I think He-man might be going through a "profitable" period, but it will quickly SHATTER. You have Revelations, Origins... and Classics... and... Super7 remakes... and... ... ...wait, what line am I supposed to be collecting here? Two figures, looking identical but only 1 has articulation? What?
Really, Mattel should have just gone ALL-in with budget on Origins, then start new characters from there.
Or make all the money before we loose the rights!
Kids wanted 🕺🏼 Skeletor?
Not really
I'm not really in to Origins. My big masterplan was to sell off my classics because I am missing a few key-characters (who are really expencive now) and use that money to get into Origins until I saw them. They're toys for kids (Fun toys, granted) but not really "collectibles" if you know what I mean.
Revelations just blows chunks imho. He-man looks like a pré-puberty monkey in his package and the rest is méh at best.
I'll stick to picking up classics from time to time.
Worth picking up!
I'm starting to be of the opinion that MOTU succeeded in spite of Mattel. I owe Hasbro an apology in the sense that I thought their distribution of their SW line is sporadic and bad. They got nothing on Mattel. Their handling of Origins has been incompetent at best and broken at worst.
Well it needs someone who knows the brand well to run the show
These are lies. MOTU Classics will come back. I refused to believe its gone forever lol.
I hope it comes back! They know it it would sell if they re-release all the heavy hitter characters that are really expensive now! One can only dream
A good lie to believe in!
...so, did you hear? Kevin Smith is killing Orko in the new show...
Seriously?
@@spectorcreative1872 www.dailymotion.com/video/x82nqjs
"What them get angry when the character they always hated gets taken away from them."
He basically think most people didn't like Orko. He then claims he's show is going to make people like Orko and then makes the above statement.
Ok, their comment on the future of origins was a little too tepid for my liking...
Well I only speak from experience
