The classics line is still extraordinary because of the materials used and the attention to detail. Much like the neca turtles, even if the architecture of the basic bodies construction is outdated the look and feel of the line is pure quality 👌

Dan, if you tape or glue a layer of kitchen foil on the underside of a shelf it'll reflect light on the items directly below (depending on lighting conditions in the room).
This sounds freaking interesting what does it look like tough?
@@EdsRetroGeekOut Unfortunately not very good, it only works as well as having a white shelf, for a real lighting solution you'd need LEDs.
I envy you that you had the opportunity to meet Dan and see his collection. It must have been an amazing experience! Lucky you! :) For me, as a collector living in the Czech Republic, it is even more difficult to get to the USA. It really costs a lot of money. But my girlfriend and I are considering a trip to some foreign event in the future where we could meet with you, if that would be possible. I watching your's and Pixel Dan channel for many years now. And thanks to you guys, I learned a lot of interesting things from the world of action figures and retro toys. I think it would be awesome see you in real life :).

And i agree the white shelves seems to brighten up the dark spots I would most definitely go for the White shelves

I get the idea of white displays but the black just looks way cooler imo. If you add some lighting to the shelves it helps a lot but also those tiered acrylic stands dan uses are great for it as well.

I want my bedroom just like Pixel Dan.. Love the purple walls which I want to get and want to get similar curtains ... I got quite a bit to display. I can then put my MOTU and Thundercats display up on shelving. I dont' have any glass cases yet.

Hey cool, a video where there is no voice over, just people talking in a room about toys, just a nice natural chat about toys and collections, with out empty chatter over footage filmed a week before gone through editing where all the heart has been seaped out of the video, nice to see these once in a while again........... DAN!
I like the voice over videos 😁 but yeah if I was able to toy hunt with dan or my buddies every week I wouldn’t need to do it cuz the banter would keep it going.

I think Dan could place white panels behind the shelves and still keep his bookcases black. That would let reflected light bounce off the figures for added illumination. Try that before a complete switch out. Just my opinion in hopes of shedding some light on this subject ( yes, pun intended!)

You're welcome. Another possibility would be to get a button light(s), LED, battery type with adhesive mounts. Stick one under each shelf shining down over the collections. But, I see you guys are very good with creative lighting. I'm sure you've all tried various lighting techniques. When I was in art school we were told Presentation Is Everything. I think it was the best advice I received and it's helped me to sell my work over the years. Best wishes to all.
@@malcolmharing3744 Those battery lights make sense in some scenarios but there is no substitute for proper powered LED lighting, id soon get cheesed off replacing batteries and turning them on / off manually every time i wanted to view my collection for 10mins.

That totally makes sense. Sometimes it's not possible to hard wire lighting so the battery option is a possible alternative. The most important point is building a collection that is worthy of a decent display 👏 kudos to all collectors out there".!

Yeah dude would have loved to bring my studio lights in but they were in belgium. Im hoping he does a long toyroom tour and brings in some lights. This was more of a walk and talk but it’s fun to see a glimpse of what he has there 🤓

I’m here for the first time, on your channel I watched some videos about the collection and the search for new figurines, sorry for such, the question, if you might find it inappropriate, let me know! My question is,
what do you do to keep your collections intact? and the second question along with the third, I think you should ask:
how do you deal with dust? and aren’t you afraid of earthquakes and figurines can break and fall, how to be?
these, questions for me are important and torment, not the first day!!
Do you ever get bored and start playing with them bad ass action figures and toys? I know I would for sure.

I noticed Dan's room was very dark with black curtains shut etc, it could have been night when you visited but assume he keeps it dark to keep room cooler and protect against sunlight UV damage / excessive heat?.
Yeah you should never let any sunlight into a collection room
