Totally sweet video! Ordered my Scareglow Origins figure yesterday so this hit me in the feels. I love that you embellished the backstory you did for the card on Classics.. and I gotta say that I didn’t hate how he was handled in Revelations either. Off topic here, but I was thinking about Faker the other day, I think Mattel missed a trick by not using the colour change plastic that was used for GI.Joe’s Zartan, so he would be flesh coloured but turns blue in the sun ( maybe even using the temperature colour change paint too ) ?

As a kid, I had become fed up with the MOTU line and its increasingly intrusive action features by the time Scareglow came out. Seeing him on the shelves, I always thought of him as a poor-man's Skeletor. When I started collecting the Origins line, I wasn't planning on buying him, because I never had/wanted him as a kid, but I stumbled across one in some rough packaging on a store shelf and brought him home. I hadn't opened any of my other Origins figures at that point, so I decided to pop open Scareglow, since his card was damaged, just to get a feel for the articulation. I stuck him on my desk, and toyed with him for the next few days, and suddenly realized that he was, indeed, a great character. He looks super-cool and is fun, yet simple. I guess I had bad taste as a kid. I hated Scareglow, and loved Ram Man (I still love Ram Man). I guess there's no accounting for taste. (Ninjor is still lame, IMO.)

Excellent video- thank you! Loved the bio…Can’t have “Karak Nul” without a “Cracked Skull”! Looking forward to a video with explanations behind real names & bios.
Scareglow is great. I really like how the Revelation figure looks. Mostly black with the bones painted on. His other figures are absolutely fantastic but also a little weird in that the black is only painted on to suggest the negative space around the bones, rather than fully painting him and leaving just the bones. A dream Scareglow figure would be a translucent gray body with glow in the dark bones inside, but who knows how you'd do that with articulation and everything.
As amazing as Scare Glow and the video you just made I hope you get to talk about the Anti-Eternian figures. They look AMAZING. ...and more proof that MOTU as so many concepts in common to DC. While you anyone could argue that Anti-Eternian would have been Anti-Matter characters today they would fit more so with the Dark Multiverse.
I’ve always wanted to see a Scareglow molded out of hollow translucent plastic with a skeleton inside that you can see, similar to the POTF Vader being electrocuted figure. That would be the best version of him. The rest just kind of look like the Cobra Kai kids on Halloween.
@@spectorcreative1872 There is a cost effective way to do it. Look at how they molded the under detail on the Power of the Primes Dinobots. They were designed to mimic the G1 figures, which had transparent material placed over gold chrome material. POTP molded it all in one piece and painted the inside gold to get the look of the original Dinobots. Mold the bone detail on the insides of the limbs, paint it with glow in the dark paint, and you have a figure that looks like a skeleton is in it. Too bad I don't have the brains or skill for such a task!
I kinda like Skulls like Ghost Rider is a favorite even the Skeletons from Ray Harryhausen Jason And The Argonauts though I don't think I have or had Scareglow. I remember I had some Alien toy where their heads would glow but I melted them putting too close to lamp wish I knew what they were. Does each ScareGlow have a key to the backdoor like catching a Leuprachaun for their pot of gold. I have a mask that is supposed to glow though it don't work unless sunlight makes a difference as I've only used house lights? I wish I knew how it worked better its like serendipity or so where they created it thinking wanted more toys as the others didn't do that well hehe.

He was kinda silly when he had the Skull Cycle in Marvel Two In One or Team Up like the Spin offs I have the Marvel Spotlights but some of my collector glasses I think the paint rubbed off on each other so eh. They were the Hellfire NY Comic Con ones but I have the Bronze Age Toon Tumblers Frost and Clear :). So, if he is such a popular figure, why make him a rare figure for Revelations? He is the coolest figure in the line, and will cost an arm and a leg to get. I think I used to dress up for Arbor Day, and have a carnival. Yummy cookie pastries too. Great video.
@@johnmorey720 that mentity is the reason the current business model of the toy industry is broken. 1. Make a desired toy rare. Less people buy it. Supports secondary and tertiary markets. 2. Hey Scott, I'm really interested in the Lore of MOTU so THANK You for all the great videos. Is there a recommended order to watch them all? Otherwise i'ts a bit confusing... Pls keep up the great work.
I really liked the "low effort" wave in the vintage line! The previous wave of fully tooled figures that didn't share a single part with any older figures, didn't really feel like MOTU to me as a kid.
How well does the glow feature hold up over time? Does it wear out over time, like the color changing plastic? I'm curious about how well that 80s Scareglow glow feature works today.
Scareglow is one of the few vintage MotU figures I still have. Used to have him be an expy of Crossbones as a Captain America baddie when he wasn't scaring Ram Man.
I Love these Videos! Could you do one on the variants if She-Ra and Catra? Maybe you had new ones in mind? Catra is a very underrated character in the filmation series I feel. Did you have plans for Clawdeen or the fashion packs?
I've often wondered why there are virtually no glow in the dark Transformers. The only one I can think of was a BotCon 2002 convention exclusive with a glow in the dark tampograph. Is there any property unique to phosphorescent plastic that makes it unsuitable for Transformers toys? Or do some brand managers discourage the idea of children playing with their toys in the dark?
Ok so a bit off topic but a few peopke including my self are looking for an answer to what the castle is on the back of fistos (origins line) card . It looks gold with a claw on it. Perhaps you can have an insight to what it is from, help us guru.

Welp.... there's an earworm that's gonna haunt me for a few hours. Thanks EVER so much. :P Btw; since you're so enamored with Arbor Day.... when are you gonna get the Horsemen to start working on some sort of "Axetreme Arborian Action Treegures" like Whomping Willow, Anniegmatic Oakley, Khanifer, Birch Casseedy, Spruce Wayne, Whittlin' Wendel.... and the pun name potential is too extensive for a comment section post.
Hi. Yeah, Arbour day is my fave day of the year too! Now, I can say without a doubt if I had seen this Gringo on the racks, I woulda bought him "point blank"! Glow in the Dark had always fascinated me from my beginnings and skeleton-based characters even more so! Both versions you displayed are awesome. They both had their own unique charm and appeal. If I were to get one now though, I'd go for the original. Something about his simplicity appeals to me. I also was a big fan as a kid (even now) of two different characters that shared a similar appearance ie ScareGlow and Skeletor or something like Death's Head 1 and Death's 2 (Marvel characters) because one was usually the "underdog" and less powerful and I mean everyone pulls for the underdog right? It's funny how a misunderstanding can sometimes lead to something totally terrific! The ScareGlow!! Love it! Thanks for a swell show! \m/
I imagine the pitch meeting for scareglow to be like that commercial for haribo gummy bears with the adults having kids' voices. Boss: We need a new villian. kid 1: what about someone that can fly? Kid 2: No what about a skeleton? Kid 3: no skeletons are scary, plus there is already skeletor. Kid 1: skeletons are cool kid 2: Skeletor only had a skull face, this new guy would be a full skeleton. etc.
I recently had this idea for a drawing there is this character I made up a while ago named Zombe he is basically my version of Spawn and with my recent fascination with He-Man and the Masters of the Universe I want to make a drawing about my character having an all-out fight with Scare Glow what you think
Is it possible that the Evil Ghost of Skeletor title was added late in production as a way to invoke Skeletor after realizing they had made a mistake and not produced the figures that were being demanded at retail?
Kool I don't know how I miss this video until this very moment I thought he was the ghost of skeletor Now I must move my scareglow figure off the skeletor shelf
Me and my sister stayed with our grandparents wherein internet and cable television doesn't exist until sometime in the early 1990s when several telephone and cable providers started to do business in our town. As such, I never knew anything about Scareglow or Rodimus Prime replaced Optimus Prime because of the limited media we have at that time. One of my classmates even showed me a picture of him holding a Scareglow figure which I really thought was a bootlegged version of Skeletor.
I think Scaregrow is Skeletor from the future cursed to live in Pritenia forever, neither died or alive unable to leave punish for his crimes in Entenia.
I like the idea that he is Skeletor in ghost form better ... back stories are nice to have but in some cases somethings are best left to the imagination..
I would question Glow in the dark as just 'overcoming fear of dark'... To me it was always more of witnessing magic. That glowing was somethign that didn't make sense, as a kid nobody understands when you tell them it 'absorbs light'... and for most adults it doesn't make any sense either. But shutting off the lights and having skeletons... or figures, or rings, or shirts, pirate ships or ceiling stars glow is is STILL amazing to me. It's like watching actual magic in your bedroom and being taken back to more magical worlds. On a separate note, I find it funny that he was made because he was cheap.... with just a new head.... but if they HAD just released more He-man and Skeletor's... IT would have been even CHEAPER!! Zero new parts at all. That's the one thing that I do think Mattel dropped the ball on. So many iconic characters in that first 8 and 12 backs that by 1985-6 nobody ever saw in stores again. Teela, MAA, Trap Jaw, should have all had rereleases after the cartoon blew up the fandom. I was fortunate enough to get in the ground floor in 82 when I was 5 and had all the originals.... but NONE of my friends did. There was a lot of jealousy because all they could find was variants.
His toy adaptation of Revelations is very neat, hopefully some day we could get a retail version since the exclusive one it's expensive, he would look great next to my River Styxx doll from Monster High and could be her father, lol
Another great video! I've always loved how through the years writers have tried to flesh out (pun fully intended) Scare Glow's origin, and the meaning of his "Ghost of Skeletor" title, etc. I think he's got a very interesting place in MOTU continuity. I wanted to ask about your feelings on the "Lost World of the Warlord" line from Remco. I know you weren't at Mattel at the time, but do you know if the Mattel guys even gave those toys a second thought? Did they like them because of the DC comics, and compatibility with MOTU? Do you like them, or are they just Masters knock-offs? Just curious. Not gonna lie, when I was a kid, Warlord, Herculese, and Arak showed up at Castle Grayskull looking for a scrap with He-Man, Man-at-Arms, and Stratos on more than one occasion. That's just how I rolled.
I hadn’t watched the show in the past but am starting now and it’s cool. He looks sort of like Blight from Batman Beyond. The colors are opposite of black skeleton and body glows green. That would be an awesome figure.
Hey, whay about his looks? A skeleton that wears a cape? The creators must have drawn inspiration from the japanese cartoon “Phantaman”, also known as “Golden Bat” or “Fantasmagórico” in spanish speaking countries.

Excellent video- thank you! Loved the bio…Can’t have “Karak Nul” without a “Cracked Skull”! Looking forward to a video with explanations behind real names & bios.
That will be coming!
@@spectorcreative1872 Yes! Can’t wait.
That might be logistically tough but cool
As amazing as Scare Glow and the video you just made I hope you get to talk about the Anti-Eternian figures. They look AMAZING.
...and more proof that MOTU as so many concepts in common to DC. While you anyone could argue that Anti-Eternian would have been Anti-Matter characters today they would fit more so with the Dark Multiverse.
I agree!
I’ve always wanted to see a Scareglow molded out of hollow translucent plastic with a skeleton inside that you can see, similar to the POTF Vader being electrocuted figure. That would be the best version of him. The rest just kind of look like the Cobra Kai kids on Halloween.
That Vader was very, very cool. I found him at a second hand store and was previously unaware of the figure.
That would have been awesome!
I want a merman scare glow, beast man scar glow, whip lash and so on and so on.
That would be tight!
Ghost Rider gave me nightmares
@@spectorcreative1872 I regret as a kid somebody had a bunch of the Ghost Rider on the Horse ones which I think Frazetta did but we didn't take any haha. I was into the Johnny Blaze even the later one was alright. I remember reading it was just better than most comics or Marvel I think it was issue 55 or so with like the Sirens or 3 Women. Heh a lot of what Marvel did with Ghost Rider has given me Nightmares since the Bronze Age glory if makes feel better :).
Caught me off guard with arbor day! Lol
No one sees it coming
So, if he is such a popular figure, why make him a rare figure for Revelations? He is the coolest figure in the line, and will cost an arm and a leg to get.
I think I used to dress up for Arbor Day, and have a carnival. Yummy cookie pastries too. Great video.
That’s why he’s rare. They want us collectors to scramble for him.
@@johnmorey720 that mentity is the reason the current business model of the toy industry is broken.
1. Make a desired toy rare. Less people buy it. Supports secondary and tertiary markets.
2. Make a desired toy in an initial average run. Be prepared to make second minimum qty run. People who want it, get it. Scalpers eat crap!
Which one creates a bigger profit for the toy company?
To inspire us to collect I guess?
@@bobastu A lot of it is probably because they are trying to juggle a relatively small collector base
@@spectorcreative1872 I want to buy it. So where is it, at retail price, right now. It was just released last month right. So it should be everywhere, as he was a pivotal character in the show. But no, make it in a very small quantity so it sells out in moments. If MOTU in the 80s was run like this, parents would have thrown a fit.
Hey Scott, I'm really interested in the Lore of MOTU so THANK You for all the great videos. Is there a recommended order to watch them all? Otherwise i'ts a bit confusing... Pls keep up the great work.
Just check out the playlists!
I really liked the "low effort" wave in the vintage line! The previous wave of fully tooled figures that didn't share a single part with any older figures, didn't really feel like MOTU to me as a kid.
Crazy right!
I specifically remember that "not MOTU" feeling was when i saw the Squeeze figure...
How well does the glow feature hold up over time? Does it wear out over time, like the color changing plastic? I'm curious about how well that 80s Scareglow glow feature works today.
Most glow in the dark toy really hold up. you just need to recharge them with light
Scareglow is one of the few vintage MotU figures I still have. Used to have him be an expy of Crossbones as a Captain America baddie when he wasn't scaring Ram Man.
That tends to come up quite a lot. He was a keeper
If Scareglow is Skeletor's ghost, and there's more than one Scareglow, then everyone should get their own Scareglow!
You get a scare glow! And you get a scare glow!
I Love these Videos! Could you do one on the variants if She-Ra and Catra? Maybe you had new ones in mind? Catra is a very underrated character in the filmation series I feel. Did you have plans for Clawdeen or the fashion packs?
I’ll add it to the list!
No, i think it is just a design choice for the brand
Ok so a bit off topic but a few peopke including my self are looking for an answer to what the castle is on the back of fistos (origins line) card . It looks gold with a claw on it. Perhaps you can have an insight to what it is from, help us guru.
The next time I speak to Axel I'll ask him.
@@spectorcreative1872 apparently lady Slithers fortress, didn't you design her?
Managed to get my hands on a Revelations Scareglow figure from San Diego Comic Con a month ago. Packaging looks so cool, I don't think I'll be opening it any time soon!
Consider yourself very lucky!
11:46 thi is so cool... XD this will be added to my demon, servant of demo man, Bro of Ninjor idea
Well...
Scareglow was one of those figures that has always eluded me 😭
Yet he glows in the dark!
2:00 he is cool xD i finaly found a Scareglow in my country... And i think my Brother likes Ninjor figure
Both worth liking
Lore doesn’t matter any more remember? Thanks Kevin smith and Netflix. For me it starts with filmation and ends with classics. Nobody does it better.
It matters to me
Love Scareglow, got him vintage mint with cape just no staff $400 , wanted him since 87 💀
Worth having!
Welp.... there's an earworm that's gonna haunt me for a few hours. Thanks EVER so much. :P
Btw; since you're so enamored with Arbor Day.... when are you gonna get the Horsemen to start working on some sort of "Axetreme Arborian Action Treegures" like Whomping Willow, Anniegmatic Oakley, Khanifer, Birch Casseedy, Spruce Wayne, Whittlin' Wendel.... and the pun name potential is too extensive for a comment section post.
Oh my gohd. 😂😂😂😂
You get multiple pun points today. 👏🏅
The really horrible thing is that I had an immediate mental image of all those characters.
If I only had that much influence on the Horsemen...
Arbor Day… nice. 👍🏾
The best day of the year
@@spectorcreative1872 , Thanks for your Videos, they are so educational and well done. I appreciate you.
Ah...Arbor Day....that fateful Day Scareglow can finally defeat the Easter Bunny in an arm wrestling match to win his Lucky Charms!
How did you find out?
Everyone needs an Arbor day
I imagine the pitch meeting for scareglow to be like that commercial for haribo gummy bears with the adults having kids' voices.
Boss: We need a new villian.
kid 1: what about someone that can fly?
Kid 2: No what about a skeleton?
Kid 3: no skeletons are scary, plus there is already skeletor.
Kid 1: skeletons are cool
kid 2: Skeletor only had a skull face, this new guy would be a full skeleton.
etc.
Prob pretty accurate
I saw a picture of a He man custom dressed in ghost busters gear, Be perfect for the scareglows.
Ever hear of "The Golden Bat"?
I feel like it may have been an influence.
As far as me knowing that you were going to say “Arbor Day” from my other comment, don’t forget our shared lineage and humor 😉😚😇
Well I am not shocked
This is fun: The cheapest figure with the most impact. But Scareglow is a burner, absolutley.
Crazy right!
All seriousness, I absolutely knew you were going to say, “Arbor Day!” ….
I've mentioned this before?
I recently had this idea for a drawing there is this character I made up a while ago named Zombe he is basically my version of Spawn and with my recent fascination with He-Man and the Masters of the Universe I want to make a drawing about my character having an all-out fight with Scare Glow what you think
I think that would be awesome!
Plz make video about best-man species
He's in the groomsmen set.
I"m on it!
Is it possible that the Evil Ghost of Skeletor title was added late in production as a way to invoke Skeletor after realizing they had made a mistake and not produced the figures that were being demanded at retail?
No. It just wasn’t something they thought about
Kool I don't know how I miss this video until this very moment I thought he was the ghost of skeletor
Now I must move my scareglow figure off the skeletor shelf
I've been patiently waiting for this story. Glow in the dark skeleton... Scareglow is Halloween everyday of the year.
The wait is over
I like how Scareglow was used in Revelation
Me too
Karak Nul is one of my favorite of the designed-for-MOTUC “real names” that you made.
I'll be doing a video soon on what all the real names mean! And this one does have a meaning
That is too funny!
As a kid I had so many cool glowing skeleton toys. I never even knew about scareglow as a kid but I really wish I did.
Its never too late to own one
Flash forward to 2021 and . . .
customers can't not find He-Man.
Hes at walmart. He looks cheap and left him behind. Skeletor was way better to look at!
He is peg warming everywhere in my area along with Skeletor
I don't think people are reading my post correctly or I'd have more 👍.
I think Scaregrow is Skeletor from the future cursed to live in Pritenia forever, neither died or alive unable to leave punish for his crimes in Entenia.
Everyone is someone from the future
I like the idea that he is Skeletor in ghost form better ... back stories are nice to have but in some cases somethings are best left to the imagination..
Hey that works too
Tell me more about this Werewolf Bar Mitzvah.....
I could but the Black Crusaders will get me
Scott, you are the only person I've ever learned about Arbor Day from.
My soul purpose in life
I would question Glow in the dark as just 'overcoming fear of dark'...
It’s true and this helped lead to such a quick downfall
His toy adaptation of Revelations is very neat, hopefully some day we could get a retail version since the exclusive one it's expensive, he would look great next to my River Styxx doll from Monster High and could be her father, lol
I imagine that will be released
Army build Scareglow?!? Do you know how much he costs on the secondary market?!
Well...
Oh that video is coming very soon!
@@spectorcreative1872 Can't wait!! thanks again!
For me he’ll always be Skeletor’s Ghost from the future, as in Skeletor is dead and his spirit goes back in time to Eternia to fight against He-Man.
And that is totally awesome. Avatars for the imagination
Please find your old bio for him.
Oh the one I wrote before the Horsemen? I'll see what I can find
Spector Creative You could build a video around it. I have faith in you.
I hadn’t watched the show in the past but am starting now and it’s cool.
He looks sort of like Blight from Batman Beyond. The colors are opposite of black skeleton and body glows green. That would be an awesome figure.
Oh i so wanted to make a blight fig in JLU!
Hey, whay about his looks? A skeleton that wears a cape? The creators must have drawn inspiration from the japanese cartoon “Phantaman”, also known as “Golden Bat” or “Fantasmagórico” in spanish speaking countries.
