I like the idea of Scareglows being a creature like a banshee. Gives you a sense of there being more than one kind. It'd be cool to see a beastman species scareglow or merman etc. Possibilities are endless.
Me too!
One if the things KS got right in Revelation...Scareglow being the keeper of Subternia.
He's gonna be my next purchase in my origins collection
If you can find him!
@@spectorcreative1872 idk if I should disclose where I've found him;)
@@collincutler4992 bought him here in oz.....$57AUS later 😠
I would question Glow in the dark as just 'overcoming fear of dark'... To me it was always more of witnessing magic. That glowing was somethign that didn't make sense, as a kid nobody understands when you tell them it 'absorbs light'... and for most adults it doesn't make any sense either. But shutting off the lights and having skeletons... or figures, or rings, or shirts, pirate ships or ceiling stars glow is is STILL amazing to me. It's like watching actual magic in your bedroom and being taken back to more magical worlds.
On a separate note, I find it funny that he was made because he was cheap.... with just a new head.... but if they HAD just released more He-man and Skeletor's... IT would have been even CHEAPER!! Zero new parts at all.
That's the one thing that I do think Mattel dropped the ball on. So many iconic characters in that first 8 and 12 backs that by 1985-6 nobody ever saw in stores again. Teela, MAA, Trap Jaw, should have all had rereleases after the cartoon blew up the fandom. I was fortunate enough to get in the ground floor in 82 when I was 5 and had all the originals.... but NONE of my friends did. There was a lot of jealousy because all they could find was variants.
It’s true and this helped lead to such a quick downfall
This was an awesome video sir- so thanks again for the quality content! I don't necessarily recall him as a kid, but it's possible my cousin had him as there's a few fuzzy memories of a non-Skeletor MotU style skeleton. (He had lots of toys.) I've seen him more as an adult recently & love the Undertaker twist. So who is your favorite skeleton (or toy of one) from fiction or days gone by?
Wow, never thought about that. I’d say the goons from Jason and the Argonauts
My childhood head canon was that Scare Glow was Keldor's Soul, escaped from Hordak after Keldor sold it to him to attain the power that made him Skeletor.
Maybe one day that'll become canon :)
Head cannon is so cool
I've often wondered why there are virtually no glow in the dark Transformers.
The only one I can think of was a BotCon 2002 convention exclusive with a glow in the dark tampograph.
Is there any property unique to phosphorescent plastic that makes it unsuitable for Transformers toys?
Or do some brand managers discourage the idea of children playing with their toys in the dark?
No, i think it is just a design choice for the brand
His toy adaptation of Revelations is very neat, hopefully some day we could get a retail version since the exclusive one it's expensive, he would look great next to my River Styxx doll from Monster High and could be her father, lol
I imagine that will be released
Oh gimmie a break. He was supposed to be skeletors actual ghost. You just thought it would be too hard to explain. Admit it lol.
I see him more as great Caesar’s ghost
ENGLISH. I hate to say, as I do love your videos, but you really stumble through English in your videos. A true child of the 80’s. 😂😅😭
“The Evil Ghost of Skeletor” literally means he is Skeletor, dead and now a ghost. Just like the Ghost of Christmas Past. It’s not a Ghost in the service of Christmas Past.
“The Evil Ghost of Skeletor’s” means he belongs to Skeletor, such as in his service.
So I mean, it was never a question…
Yes but Faker was called evil Robot of Skeletor. So think about it…
I genuinely liked episode 4 and Orko vs scsreglow even though classically Orko's magic failed because of differing physics rather than low confidence (discounting your secret agent theory.)
Orko and evil-lynn had surprisingly heartfelt moments. I dislike rev for a lot of reasons, but that? Was great.
I think he will be back
@@spectorcreative1872 considering Kevin Smith was insulting fans over being upset? Ya. He will and then bitch at how stupid we are given how he has been mishandling things so far.
It is not the show I dislike so much as everyone around and attached to it acting like children.
I had Scareglow when I was a kid playing with the vintage line. And believe me they got played with a lot. Accessories got lost. Arms got switched from one body to another. I also had a bad habit of chewing on the soft head figure's heads.
Yeah, I did that too
My um… dog did that.
Off topic here, but I was thinking about Faker the other day, I think Mattel missed a trick by not using the colour change plastic that was used for GI.Joe’s Zartan, so he would be flesh coloured but turns blue in the sun ( maybe even using the temperature colour change paint too ) ?
My understanding is that photosensitive paint or plastic dyes are pretty expensive, which might contribute to how little we see them (Gormiti used it surprisingly often, though)
Yeah that would have been awesome!
I just spit out my breakfast when you showed the picture for back door.
I do aim to please
Totally sweet video! Ordered my Scareglow Origins figure yesterday so this hit me in the feels.
I love that you embellished the backstory you did for the card on Classics.. and I gotta say that I didn’t hate how he was handled in Revelations either. I do prefer the arc that he’s a ghost serving Skeletor as opposed to the ghost of Skeletor.
It was a really fun one to work on
I grew up with zero knowledge or connection to MotU and even I knew Scare Glow. By name, even. Also - **shakes fist** _Arbor Day!!_
There is Israel's semi-equivalent Tu BiShvat (Hebrew: ט״ו בשבט; tú bish'vat) Jewish holiday also called Rosh HaShanah La'Ilanot.
And Korea's Sikmogil Arbor Day (식목일).
Arbor Day will have its revenge
What makes figures glow? And why is it the sign of a ending toy line... cause glowing toys are cool.
if you want a chemistry lesson look up Phosphorescence - basically it is when a high energy photon excites an electron but that electron loses the energy slowly by emitting low energy photons (the glow) instead of doing it in one high energy photon.
It is a special kind of plastic. I'll do a video about this!
Lore doesn’t matter any more remember? Thanks Kevin smith and Netflix. For me it starts with filmation and ends with classics. Nobody does it better.
It matters to me
Whether or not the Horsemen were in on the Dickens reference, that's still clever design on their part.
Did you know that the Dickensian Festival in the UK is also known as "Dickfest"?
@@ZeroAnalogy Really?
@@ZeroAnalogy Sadly, they don’t call it that in San Francisco. Maybe they’re worried about association.

My absolute favorite character from the old line! Actually, he has been ever since as well! I love the concept of "Scareglows" being a ghost story to scare young ones in the darkened woods! Wish they would adapt it more... Gonna have to get my hands on those DC books...
You are not alone in that!
@@spectorcreative1872 Damn... Does that mean they're hard to come by?
I want a merman scare glow, beast man scar glow, whip lash and so on and so on.
That would be tight!
I thought memory was the key...
Knowledge is the key
@_@ 3:41 yea something similar is happening here with origins he man sell out (in mainly toy stores here it sell out all the figures, but in the others he man just disapears of the shelfs).
I have yet to see Origins He-Man or Skeletor on the store shelves. Only Evil-Lyn, Moss-Man, and Skelegod.
Ha!
@@johnmorey720 I believe you mean Revelation, not Origins. Origins He-Man and Skeletor have been peg warmers for nearly a year now.
@@coffinbirth2847 Indeed, I meant Revelation, sorry. Revelation He-man and Skeletor vanish from the shelves near me. Origins He-Man and Skeletor... are present, we'll say.
Tony Todd voicing him in Revelation was a stroke of Genius. I love the idea of parents using the tale of Scareglows to get their children to behave. He's always felt like Eternia's boogeyman to me. Love the fact that there are more Scareglows running around too. Cool way to make him an army builder.
I would buy even more if we could get alt heads and a female one too (body type).
Yeah crazy well cast
I like to think of him as a supernatural Boba Fett... He also reminds me of the glow toys we had in the late 70's.
As a kid, I had become fed up with the MOTU line and its increasingly intrusive action features by the time Scareglow came out. Seeing him on the shelves, I always thought of him as a poor-man's Skeletor. When I started collecting the Origins line, I wasn't planning on buying him, because I never had/wanted him as a kid, but I stumbled across one in some rough packaging on a store shelf and brought him home.
I hadn't opened any of my other Origins figures at that point, so I decided to pop open Scareglow, since his card was damaged, just to get a feel for the articulation. I stuck him on my desk, and toyed with him for the next few days, and suddenly realized that he was, indeed, a great character. He looks super-cool and is fun, yet simple.
I guess I had bad taste as a kid. I hated Scareglow, and loved Ram Man (I still love Ram Man). I guess there's no accounting for taste. (Ninjor is still lame, IMO.)
Nice! Nothing like getting a toy in your hands to love it
Seeing Scareglow animated in Revelations was one of the few, great things to see in the show. His voice and animation were spectacular!
Yeah it was cool he got screen time
And we got to find out what Teela's biggest fear is - being too awesome! 😅
@@vanillajack5925 of course this “awesomeness” is directly connected to Castle Grayskull. You know, the thing she blames the death of her best friend on. 🤷♂️
Was there any MotU character whose name has more than 3 syllables?
Man-E-Faces, but I can't think of any others 😄
Queen Mar le na?
Mighty Spector? Fearlesws Photog?
Scarecrow pretty cool, powerful scary.. Up until Revelations where he got his butt kicked fairly easily and quickly by Tila, then what was left was destroyed by Orko quickly. Still cool to see the animation of him, and him talk in a little bit
I bet he will be back
I kinda like Skulls like Ghost Rider is a favorite even the Skeletons from Ray Harryhausen Jason And The Argonauts though I don't think I have or had Scareglow. I remember I had some Alien toy where their heads would glow but I melted them putting too close to lamp wish I knew what they were. Does each ScareGlow have a key to the backdoor like catching a Leuprachaun for their pot of gold. I have a mask that is supposed to glow though it don't work unless sunlight makes a difference as I've only used house lights? I wish I knew how it worked better its like serendipity or so where they created it thinking wanted more toys as the others didn't do that well hehe.
Ghost Rider gave me nightmares
@@spectorcreative1872 I regret as a kid somebody had a bunch of the Ghost Rider on the Horse ones which I think Frazetta did but we didn't take any haha. I was into the Johnny Blaze even the later one was alright. I remember reading it was just better than most comics or Marvel I think it was issue 55 or so with like the Sirens or 3 Women. He was kinda silly when he had the Skull Cycle in Marvel Two In One or Team Up like the Spin offs I have the Marvel Spotlights but some of my collector glasses I think the paint rubbed off on each other so eh. They were the Hellfire NY Comic Con ones but I have the Bronze Age Toon Tumblers Frost and Clear :). Heh a lot of what Marvel did with Ghost Rider has given me Nightmares since the Bronze Age glory if makes feel better :).
Scare-Glow was AMAZING in Revelations! Tony Todd is awesome!
So great to see him animated
11:46 thi is so cool... XD this will be added to my demon, servant of demo man, Bro of Ninjor idea
Well...
I recall him at night when I was small getting me through sleeps. Great figure 👌
Nice!
I always liked to think that perhaps Karak Nul had an earlier history, that he maybe came from the same group/people as the previous Sorceress, Kuduk Ungol and that they had a history of confrontation which led to Ungol transforming him into Scareglow. Perhaps my bit of fanfiction but MOTU does stir the imagination.
I loved that last wave of figures in the vintage line and how it felt like a return to the early days before all the gimmicks and overly sci-fi elements.
I know right!
"The shadow of a ruler, now ruler of shadows, and this humble domain."
Well it ain't shakespear
I'm super grateful that I was able to get an Origins Scareglow. Like many of us, it was a figure that intrigued me for years, and the only lines I had collected thus far were Vintage and Commemorative.
I have still never seen him at retail!
Scareglow is the ghost "of Skeletor" ...in the same way that Faker is an evil robot "of Skeletor". They're under his command. *DERP!*
Exactly the rationale I used
I've always considered him the Boba Fett of MOTU lore.
I hope he is an unaltered clone
scareglow is one of my favorite origins figure, i was hopping alittle that some pf my fanart showed in the video
Sorry I didn't get to include it!
Would you have done a Karak Nul figure if you had the chance?
Totally!
Is there a Moss Man video coming up? He's my favorite MOTU character. I'm searching for some of the recent Classic line releases where he's actually fuzzy: I'm so disappointed that MOTU Revelation Moss Man is just hard plastic with no fuzz!
Oh yes!
I really like the new figure not having fuzz - flocked fuzz is great and all, but it’s nice to get some variety. What’s weird about the MOTUR figure is that, if you lift his skirt, it kind of looks like the sculptors put a tiny obscene joke in there.
Ever hear of "The Golden Bat"?
I feel like it may have been an influence.
Caught me off guard with arbor day! Lol
No one sees it coming
2:00 he is cool xD i finaly found a Scareglow in my country... And i think my Brother likes Ninjor figure
Both worth liking
When Origins was announced, the first character I thought of was Scareglow.
And glad he made it
When I was a kid Scareglow wasn't exactly one of my favourite figures. Glow in the dark features are only interesting when you try them out for the first time but they don't really do much in everyday child's play. Also there already was a MotU character with a skeleton gimmick. To me Scareglow was one of those characters who are good enough to be featuered in one episode but don't have the potential for regular appearance. But he was the only character in Revelation they managed to improve in this trainwreck of a MotU cartoon.
He does grow on you
@@spectorcreative1872 You mean he does glow on you.
Pitch: a skeleton!!…I’m listening….with huge muscles!!! SOLD!!!
If it went like that, cool
Ah...Arbor Day....that fateful Day Scareglow can finally defeat the Easter Bunny in an arm wrestling match to win his Lucky Charms!
How did you find out?
I imagine the pitch meeting for scareglow to be like that commercial for haribo gummy bears with the adults having kids' voices.
Boss: We need a new villian.
kid 1: what about someone that can fly?
Kid 2: No what about a skeleton?
Kid 3: no skeletons are scary, plus there is already skeletor.
Kid 1: skeletons are cool
kid 2: Skeletor only had a skull face, this new guy would be a full skeleton.
etc.
Prob pretty accurate
This is fun: The cheapest figure with the most impact. But Scareglow is a burner, absolutley.
Crazy right!
I'm sorry to say this, but the name 'Scareglow' seems to be something one would find in a girl toy line - like Jem and the Holograms.
Quite frankly, I don't remember him that well. I can remember Stinkor easily, but not Scareglow.
Showtime synergy
Scareglow is an awesome edition to anyone's collection; I wanted him as a kid and hope to obtain this awesome Eternian Boogieman someday!
Boogie men are tight
Cough up like 3 to 5 hunnit
I’ve always wanted to see a Scareglow molded out of hollow translucent plastic with a skeleton inside that you can see, similar to the POTF Vader being electrocuted figure. That would be the best version of him. The rest just kind of look like the Cobra Kai kids on Halloween.
That Vader was very, very cool. I found him at a second hand store and was previously unaware of the figure.
That would have been awesome!
@@spectorcreative1872 There is a cost effective way to do it. Look at how they molded the under detail on the Power of the Primes Dinobots. They were designed to mimic the G1 figures, which had transparent material placed over gold chrome material. POTP molded it all in one piece and painted the inside gold to get the look of the original Dinobots.
Mold the bone detail on the insides of the limbs, paint it with glow in the dark paint, and you have a figure that looks like a skeleton is in it.
Too bad I don't have the brains or skill for such a task!
Scareglow is a very rare example of a product being produced quickly and cheaply while also being good quality
That is very true
So this idea that Scareglows are one type of ghost/monster...what if Skeletor were to become one when he dies? So people who thought he was Skeletor when they were kids could still technically be right.
Might get myself an extra Origins Skeletor and Scareglow to kitbash this.
I think he would gain disco powers
Flash forward to 2021 and . . .
customers can't not find He-Man.
Hes at walmart. He looks cheap and left him behind. Skeletor was way better to look at!
He is peg warming everywhere in my area along with Skeletor
I don't think people are reading my post correctly or I'd have more 👍.
For me he’ll always be Skeletor’s Ghost from the future, as in Skeletor is dead and his spirit goes back in time to Eternia to fight against He-Man.
And that is totally awesome. Avatars for the imagination
As amazing as Scare Glow and the video you just made I hope you get to talk about the Anti-Eternian figures. They look AMAZING.
...and more proof that MOTU as so many concepts in common to DC. While you anyone could argue that Anti-Eternian would have been Anti-Matter characters today they would fit more so with the Dark Multiverse.
I agree!
If Scareglow is Skeletor's ghost, and there's more than one Scareglow, then everyone should get their own Scareglow!
You get a scare glow! And you get a scare glow!
Just to try a random tie in, what is Karak Nul was the original leader of the Space Mutants from New Adventures?
Oooh! Cool idea
This is what I was most waiting for next to Extendar, and you didn't disappoint!
I am so glad! Share if you can!
Extendar NEVER disappoints! 😏
The original Masters of the Universe line died because they didn't have enough He-Man. Imagine that.
Funny right?
I think Scaregrow is Skeletor from the future cursed to live in Pritenia forever, neither died or alive unable to leave punish for his crimes in Entenia.
Everyone is someone from the future
That second accessory was brilliant! But the horseman were always known for their brilliance!
Here here!
Why was there never a translucent figure with a skeleton inside the body? That wouldve kicked ass.
Oh that has been done!
well now i'm curious what his backstory was before the accessory inspired you.
I'll have to track that down!
Didn't Skeletor use Scareglow to ensnare and enchant the Justice League?
I don’t know, I didn’t read those comics. :-P
I like the idea that he is Skeletor in ghost form better ... back stories are nice to have but in some cases somethings are best left to the imagination..
Hey that works too
Scareglow was one of those characters that escaped my notice for a surprisingly long time (probably because the Filmation shows had wrapped and New Adventures hadn’t started, so He-Man as a brand was sort of off my radar at the time). I don’t think I knew who he was until I started browsing what web stuff was around when the 200X line started up.
He kinda does that
Love Scareglow, got him vintage mint with cape just no staff $400 , wanted him since 87 💀
Worth having!
I’ve got Scareglow in vintage, Mega Construx, and Super7 ReAction versions. Those are some varied form factors right there!
That they are!
@@spectorcreative1872 I almost forgot to mention, I also have the Battle Tribes tribute figure.
Scareglow was one of those figures that has always eluded me 😭
Yet he glows in the dark!
I like how Scareglow was used in Revelation
Me too
So, if he is such a popular figure, why make him a rare figure for Revelations? He is the coolest figure in the line, and will cost an arm and a leg to get.
I think I used to dress up for Arbor Day, and have a carnival. Yummy cookie pastries too. Great video.
That’s why he’s rare. They want us collectors to scramble for him.
@@johnmorey720 that mentity is the reason the current business model of the toy industry is broken.
1. Make a desired toy rare. Less people buy it. Supports secondary and tertiary markets.
2. Make a desired toy in an initial average run. Be prepared to make second minimum qty run. People who want it, get it. Scalpers eat crap!

The creepy and mysterious were always part of the appeal of MOTU vintage for me. The mini-comics and the details of the Grayskull playset made it seem like they were fighting for control of a haunted castle, which was totally cool to 7 year old me.
In France the castle is called castle of shadows
Very interesting. Thanks for that bit of trivia!
I Love these Videos! Could you do one on the variants if She-Ra and Catra? Maybe you had new ones in mind? Catra is a very underrated character in the filmation series I feel. Did you have plans for Clawdeen or the fashion packs?

Hey, whay about his looks? A skeleton that wears a cape? The creators must have drawn inspiration from the japanese cartoon “Phantaman”, also known as “Golden Bat” or “Fantasmagórico” in spanish speaking countries.
I just bought someone else's MOTU collection and among the figures is a ScareGlow. Wasn't something I was planning on getting but with the background you provided I'm quite happy about him now 😅 So thanks as always.

I was looking for a character history not a action figure history🤷🏿♂️
I often see/hear comments about the Funimation series suggesting that nearly every single episode was about Skeletor breaking into Castle Grayskull or that Skeletor was the main villain of virtually every episode. But after having recently rewatched the first season of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, in reality Skeletor features in way, WAY fewer episodes than everyone seems to recall. And even when he does feature, it can be only briefly before the rest of the plot goes off somewhere else. Out of the first 65 episodes, there are really only maybe 5 or 6 about him trying to take Castle Grayskull.
Yeah - that why Thundercats or GI Joe or anything else didn't really have the kind of story telling MOTU had. Everything else was very vey repetitive with the same villain every episode.
Oh yes very repetitive
Scareglow is great. I really like how the Revelation figure looks. Mostly black with the bones painted on. His other figures are absolutely fantastic but also a little weird in that the black is only painted on to suggest the negative space around the bones, rather than fully painting him and leaving just the bones. A dream Scareglow figure would be a translucent gray body with glow in the dark bones inside, but who knows how you'd do that with articulation and everything.
That might be logistically tough but cool
Kool I don't know how I miss this video until this very moment I thought he was the ghost of skeletor
