Hi! I'm young and just starting to write again. Writing has always been my strongest skill, and creative writing has even drawn the eyes of adult audiences. One day I'd like to publish a book, and I am aware that it'll take time, dedication and courage, luckily im homeschooled. This video really helps me out, especially from the fact that I'm balancing music and writing which are both my passions, and niether i will ever quit for the other. I hope eventually i grow a supportive fanbase, and I'm successful, but again i understand the effort, work, dedication, self development and criticism i have to face on the journey. Hoping someone atleast relates , and thanks to this wonderful woman I'm gaining more confidence. 🙏🏽
I have started and quit my authortube channel so many time. Last week I started posting on tiktok again and I'm currently working on a website. Also want to start posting again on RUclips, but I'm just easing back into posting again.. But I do notice that whenever I'm making content, making time to actually write also comes much easier. I'm ready to make my dream of becoming an author reality, finally!! And I'm gonna do whatever I possibly can, to make this happen! :)
🎥📹Brielle -- this is great. I think I'm gonna do this. AuthorTube seems like a great way to connect with other authors, build a platform, and put some accountability into finishing. This was a super helpful overview. Thanks.
I've finally stopped just thinking about it for years and decided to just try, and this video came just at the right time as I was having second thoughts. Thanks! Just by trying to record myself as a test i wrote more than in the last year alone, so that's awesome.
I love authortube/ authortoc the community that you get to be a part of ❤ i hope I can turn it into my career, well.. no, I don't hope. I WILL ❤ Thank you for your video! It pushed me to finally make my first post, damn what anyone thinks about it. It is a shitload of work! For sure!
oh this video is pure gold, i hope we see a lot of new authortube channels soon!! i've also been looking into a gear update so ty for sharing what you use
Thanks for the advice! I started my authortube channel a little over a month ago, and now that I'm feeling more comfortable with the camera and editing, I have been researching how to grow. Your tips are going to help me so much!
This is a great video! I'm about to post my first author tube video... soonish lol. I've been slowly piecing it together since August. Happy to have found your page! :)
Totally agree and writers/author crossovers! I’m a booktuber channel and I also write. I 1000% intend on reading the books of the authors I watch ♥️♥️ 📹
📹 I love all the great info and the vibe in all your videos. I wanted to start a YT channel and part of me still does, but I’m fighting a severe case of depression rn and I just know I couldn’t keep a regular posting schedule. If I ever do though, it’ll be your channel I emulate. Thank you for all you do!
When it comes to writing vlogs, I post them more on Tiktok because they're in montage style. Here on my channel, I'll be turning it into a read-a-long channel. I've been posting excerpts as Shorts. But soon, I'll be reading my books here on RUclips 💙💙💙💙
📹 Hi Brielle - this s the first 'Authortube Video' that I have watched; I found it v interesting / useful. Thanks !! I'm at the other end of the age spectrum & in the UK ... I have just finished the third book in an unpublished fiction series centred around human trafficking ... some of it is not an easy read but more than one Beta reader has said 'this needs to be out there'. Once I have feedback on the third book I will the series with book one being a short (16,000) taster freebee.
📹 while I’m not necessarily interested in creating an author / writer RUclips channel, I found this video incredibly helpful for starting any type of creative channel where you want to share the journey. Love your videos, been binging a bunch of them! Can’t wait to learn more about your book ☺️
My little bit of advice too, for any other aspiring content creators in the comments down here and to echo a few things you said!: Everyone's first video (or even first channel) will not be the vial hit we sometimes think it will be (don't be discourage by this). Looking back at my first videos I can't help but cringe at the delivery, some of the editing, and more importantly the audio. Unelss you're coming into this with some background in production or are used to talking in front of a camera, it is a skill that will need to be developed! Just like writing, it is a skill that you will need to look at critically and invest your time and energy into. Scripting, editing, camera presence... All of it takes time to 'get good' at. Keep your eyes on your own lane and don't compare where you are with where others are. Good advice all around though!
Absolutely!!! Could not agree more, and that’s why it was important for me to mention I had a couple years experience before starting this channel. Totally takes time.
I just started a new author channel, Sid Mickle Publications. One down and hopefully many more in the future. Great tips, especially detailing the time commitment!
📹📹I know that when I started my AuthorTube channel I mainly wanted to have it keep me accountable and to help me get over my fear of speaking publicly in on camera in general because as an Author I wanted to go do readings and events but if I can't speak publicly that's not going to be a good look lol. It not only helped me do that, but I literally found my tribe, my found family through AuthorTube and we stream together, we have backstage work sessions together and we help keep each other motivated and accountable and I honestly don't know what I would do without them. Bonus is that I found another passion in making videos and video editing (which I love doing and would probably do even better if I had better software) which I did not expect to develop. Love your video and some really good tips that I feel I can use even after having a channel for so long. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us and always being so open. Take care of yourself!
I've started making videos more about books and writing because I plan on self-publishing my current wip... maybe I should start sharing more of what my novel is about. Thanks for the video. It'll definitely be helpful for me
Love the video! It was videos like this that encouraged me to start my channel in 2024! I am still in the baby phases, but I have already gotten to meet other writers which was the main goal in the first place! It has also been a great accountability tool for my writing. Posting my goals on here have made them more real because now I have people on here that are rooting me on and holding me accountable to them!
My reading/writing channel is also my second channel! It's amazing to hear about your success, and I can't wait to follow your journey to self-publishing. ^_^
Brielle. I freaking love you and your videos. You always deliver the highest quality content and are so relatable and open about your writing journey. I feel like I try to do the same but I'm still learning 😅 Thanks for all of your advice and tips! It's definitely true that creating writing vlogs (while a lot of work) does keep you accountable to keep writing and keep making progress!
Perfect video, as always! I just wanna let you know that I found your channel a few weeks ago and have binge-watched so many videos. I love your writing energy
I've been watching your content for a while and finally decided to start posting videos a few weeks ago. Your content has really inspired me to do this as I normally only make content on Instagram and TikTok,
I've been making some AuthorTube content, but since I'm also in grad school it hasn't stuck to just that unfortunately, I'm hopingto get to a place where I can stick to just authortube and writing and those, but for now it's a bit of a mess, which probably explains a lot haha 🎥
📹 not me watching this having all the stuff I need to start making RUclips content but being too scared to. Thank you for sharing all of your thoughts on content creation, it’s impressive how much thoughtfulness goes into each video, it really shows up in the content itself.
📸 NEW SUBSCRIBER!! Thanks for sharing this info; it was great. I have a channel (pretty new with not many subscribers so I'm hoping your tips will help). I have just completed the AuthorTube Newbie Tag and I'm hoping that will help bring some more of the community to know me. Here are my questions (if you haven't already answered them in another video; I'm watching your other videos now): 1. How did you decide what to put into your description? I have a hard time trying to decide what to put there while also not making it too short or too long. 2. Can you explain more how you use Pinterest for writing? 3. I'll Google this but I want to know more about Scintal? I've never heard of it before. I like to know why writers choose the writing tools/equipment they choose. Thanks again for the video. I wish you much success! The artwork at the end is fantastic!!
I love this video and thank you so much for making it! I’ve been writing for a few years now and have built a decent following online (mostly Wattpad lol), but have been trying to distance myself from the platform. I’ve got experience making RUclips videos in different genres, but your content is so different but inspiring as well! Do you have any tips on how to make compelling vlogs? I know you mentioned having a film background, but any suggestions for laymen like me lol?
I haven't yet started posting about my writing but I'm planning on for May, since a friend of mine is hosting a NaNo alternative event and that is the amount of excuse I need to make such videos
Great video as always Brielle! I'm in a situation where I'm trying SO HARD to get comfortable on camera and my brain goes completely blank when the camera turns on and then I talk in circles but when I write a script I sound like a robot it's so bad! If you have more tips on that I'd greatly appreciate hearing what you have to say on the topic! 🎥
Hahaha I totally relate it is a struggle at first!!! I like creating a bullet point outline to keep me on track without having to read from a script. I also sometimes “warm up” before I film aka talk to myself beforehand lol so when I turn on the camera it feels like I’ve already gotten started. I’ve also heard some people say that picturing one individual that you’re talking to helps!! it also just gets better with time, I think an awkward stage at the beginning is inevitable lol
@@briellewrites Yeah I like that idea, and have done it before. I need to be better about doing that consistently and I will try talking to myself a little before hand too! I bet it will help! Thank you!
Tag for later. tbh, the whole authortube thing seems harder than actually writing books. Then again, writing is easy once it becomes a habit, so... I guess that's not saying much. Maybe the same would be true for the other stuff.
Is this a sign I should finally start making videos?
YES IT IS 🪧
that was my thought too lol

As someone content with writing without a public platform, I can still see the appeal of starting a channel.
