    The US Spec for this Ranger Raptor is supposedly going to be rated at 392 hp & 430 lb-ft torque (583 Nm). That is a huge jump compared to the pretty wheezy diesel that was in there before. Finally a powertrain to match the suspension of this truck.

    Massive upgrade over the outgoing one. Anti lag systems normally pump fuel into the hot pipe before the turbo where it ignites and creates that pressure needed to keep the turbo spooled up but no way such a system would meet even Australia's lower emission standards plus the noise such a system makes. So how are they doing it on this?

    • @jameswenny2372
      @jameswenny2372 2 года назад +1

      Anti lag has come a long since those days. The newer systems use air that is stored a few seconds ago to keep the turbo spinning. Clever stuff, and interesting if you want to do some research.

      The "official" information on the Ford website says some of the stuff that works in Baja mode is specifically for "off road use only"... I guess that'd be how they get away with it. Have all these warnings and notes in manuals and documentation that say you can't do something on the street (no saying you won't though) ;)

Of note, the standard Sync 4 infotainment Screen as available on the XL-XLT, measures 10" diagonally, Wildtrak gets the 12" and the Raptor has the 12.4" screen. Driving this Raptor, does it have the Adaptive Cruise control? How about trying out the Parking assist in a city environment? personally, I'd like to see more F150 features make it to the Ranger, like the power rear gate and cooler in the center console, Heated and cooled seats front & rear.. You know all hardcore racers in Finke run IFS, right? Solid fronts are dinosaur garbage for jokers who still love carbs.
      Current gen raptor easily runs the Finke line, albeit much slower than a racer. This will do it just as easily.

    • @alecmadill3919
      @alecmadill3919 2 года назад

      @@nickdudem you mean ifs with like 20 inch travel? I have seen plenty of Finke capable vehicles. None of them look as flimsy or weak as the raptor.
      Solid axles definitely are not the fastest set up but I don't see them breaking for going off road.
      Carbs are shit btw, no idea how solid axle and carbs relate really. I see plenty of trucks still running solid axles lol...

    • @nickdudem
      @nickdudem 2 года назад

      I firsthand know the Raptor can do it easily, relatively quickly, with no failures. I don't know what weakness you're talking about, besides the plastic bumpers, but if you're heading out, you're canning them anyway

      If you can afford the 100k to buy this, surely you can afford the few hundred dollars extra per year for fuel? And if you can't appreciate the extra driving enjoyment the petrol engine will give you over a diesel, then this is not the car/truck for you!

    'Playing' the noise of the engine through the speakers? WTF is going on with 4WDs these days? You only have to look at the price of the V8 cruiser Utes to see people are for the first time in automotive history paying MORE money to get LESS crap put on their Utes. Oh...and no diesel........Fair dinkum Ford get a clue.

      The Raptor owners out there have, for the most part, been screaming for a more worthy engine... I myself emailed Ford Australia in 2019 after having mine for only a short while saying that they'd built a phenomenal ute that just needed a more worthy engine... I know I wasn't the only one to make this point!!!
      Look at petrol V8 GMC, Ford and RAM sales in Australia to see most people with 100k to spend on a ute aren't stressed about fuel consumption much
