I have had my 660 for 11 months now and have 7,500 weekend miles on it. So far the only issue I have had is a minor, minor fuel leak from the fuel drain tube. I put a beer cap under the fuel drain line and on super-hot days like 100f + in my garage it would almost fill the beer cap. Other than a few quick shifter fails but that was more than likely me. In closing, like you I bought a late vin number bike. They offered me a XXX16X vin# and I went with the XXX36X vin# hoping that any bugs would be worked out in a couple hundred bikes. I have had issues in the past with Aprilia bikes so before the warranty is up I will either get an extended warranty or sell it. Delightful bike! So many innovations: balance shafts, four valves/cylinder, liquid cooled and acceptably low weight... One thought: could all the invasive electronics be pulled out, leaving a bike for motorcyclists? More electronics = weaker riders.
its a great question. I wondered myself. If you look a little deeper into the Trofeo models of the RS660 they did in fact alter the bike with race ready customizable electronics .
@J.P Saym0 stock of the showroom, the RS660 has the abilty to shut every aid off except front wheel abs. And if you are going to race the RS660, Aprilia offers an ECU flash that disables all the ABS. I agree its great to learn without any aids at all, but I'm also pragmatic and want those aids when chilling on the street, so having both is best of worlds.
the only reason ever would anyone buy this bike - is electronics- other way- mt07 or cb650 is much better and well cheaper and better handling bikes!!!
There are times where you might hit a patch of gravel, moss, ice, you name it and you will wish you had rider aids. It's situations like these where even the most skilled have trouble.
2 factors: older reputations when the quality control was lower. and more frequent maintenance intervals - which does cost more in dollars and time. when neglected, you end with poor reliability.
the Miiv full system is one of the more affordable decatted exhaust, about $900. SC project is the other popular one for about $1300-1800. RaceECU was $400 from AF1 racing. Highly recommend doing it, it level out the power band, get more torque in the mid-range. If you do that and gear down the front sprocket one tooth the bike becomes lightening quick. It will lose a little top speed which only really matters at tracks as big as COTA.

Everybody takes their dog to take a 💩 at the Mexican art museum...😂
I couldn't deal with all those issues myself, that's why I also won't buy a European car, or an America car for that matter.
what i dont like about my aprilia is i hear a tickling valve noise never stop tic tic tic more you rev more it tick very anoing and i like to hear the engine sound but the tikling ruines everything another thing rear break noise squeek never end im about 2500 mile noise still there the paint its very thin .alot of rock chips in the paint other thing all the electronic are useless did i regret buying it yes for that price i wish i had waited and get a better deal at least 2k less then the msrp other thing never trust aprilia owner manual they said put 2.7 litre oil in reality you.hav to put 2.3 litre .i had an.aprilia rs125 2strock manual said put 90w70 oil in reality i hav to put 10w40 in the gear box i ruind all my clutch with.that sleepery thing
6th gear shutoff, one is on high speed by then, which means all safety electronics are off :D hmmmmmm tough one there
It’s definitely not a bike with longevity in it. Gotta go Japanese for that.
Which is sad cause I want this bike with longevity lol. I’m stuck between this and R7 but I’ve heard a lot of controversy with this bike, while the R7 is lacking in the power.
@@MOTOJendays same here. This bike ticks a lot of the boxes I have in what I’m wanting in a new bike however not the most important that is reliability.
@@keltecdan maybe if I was more mechanically enlightened with working on bikes. Outside of reliability this is a dream bike.
love my rs660 would never sell it i had a little oil leak at arround 1000km now at 10000km no proplems with the bike
:) : ) mate, if you try other bikes , i bet you will sell this moped :)
bro why tf were you starting in second gear lol
Bruh😂 That is one hell of a wrong way to look at it. And yes you can shut them off except for abs.
Chick a hoy . I think that girl liked you
lol wut - that was a dog
I don’t understand why European and American bikes are less reliable than Japanese ones, why is it still like that?
2 factors: older reputations when the quality control was lower. and more frequent maintenance intervals - which does cost more in dollars and time. when neglected, you end with poor reliability.
Aprilia - known for reliability issues !
tbh, i will never buy european car or bike. too many issues, talk about reliability just like telling a joke
Just buy Kawasaki and enjoy your ride :D and read the comments bellow and smile :)
i respect the hell out of kawas, but I just can't do it, too much kyle energy lol
@@flip_moto just buy it bro :)
What year is your bike ? I am thinking of getting a 2023, and hopefully all the little things have been worked out.
2021 - they’ve sorted it all out.
@@flip_moto Good deal, I think Aprilia has handled all of this very well. Not surprising from a completely new model honestly.
@@flip_moto So what your saying is for the aprilia 660 anything 2021 and newer is much more reliable and has majority of its past issues resolved?
@@kevinwankr yeah the bikes have been very reliable from late 21 and on.
How much did it cost to decat and get a race ECU? Between doing that or leaving the bike as is, what do you recommend?
the Miiv full system is one of the more affordable decatted exhaust, about $900.
It’s weird
