    When people talk about the RS' power and don't change AEM/Ride modes to racing makes me chuckle. Every time.

      @davidkim0678 3 месяца назад +1

      i was gonna say this too but i think the race mode only affects throttle response whereas his issue was the power bogging down which is most likely a weight issue.

    3:28 - this is a stupid argument. full throtle on 2nd gear, 23mph, about 3.5k RPM - then complains it bogs down. a "tell us you don't know how to use your motorcycle, without telling us" moment lmao

    You can use the heel guard from the Tuono 660 it fits perfectly, my RS660 had this installed by the dealer on delivery ... works perfectly. 😊

    I bought the tuono factory (original upgradedd suspension, imu, short transmission quickshifter blipper, all original )as a second bike (I have a superduke R V2) Till now , no troubles, and a absolute blast in very curvy road. (here in Belgium, they are a lot of those road) A lot of power when riding up 6000rpm . And on the hard twisty bumpy road, difficult to beat, even with bigger bikes. That exactly the reason I bought it. In additionnal reason.... very comfy for long road, commuting, city-ride, Rarely I have seen a so versatile bike.. Thanks for your video.

  • @gremer6

    Heel guards affect the clean swing-arm look. So instead, I am using anti-scratch tape (used for car ), but I change it periodically.
    Re suspension - it is kinda sportbike, the suspension has to be hard (in case of RS660 it is actually soft with as for a sportbike ).

    I own the Aprilia Tuono 660 Factory (owned the RS 660 before) and the front of the bike comes up easily in first gear, just because of the power 😍. Maybe this is because of the different front sprocket on the Tuono 660 Factory. I feel that the bike has more than enough power for the street - if you want to keep your driver license 😉. The handling and balance of the bike is sublime and can be compared to the more expensive Street Triple RS (I just rode the newest version of it). The only bike that could tempt me is the Duke 890R, but this one is around 3.000,-€ more here in Germany, which is a lot of money and you have to pay even more, if you want comparable tech and settings on the KTM.

  • @MotoPeWee
    @MotoPeWee 11 месяцев назад +10

    Awesome video!
    It has been suggested to change the front sprocket to 16. unless you track on it as you might loose a bit top speed. For the swingarm heel guard you can use from Tuono 660 as it fits perfectly.

      How much top speed to you lose?

    • @MotoPeWee
      @MotoPeWee 14 дней назад

      @@KamBenni3Adding teeth to the front and rear sprockets have opposite effects. Installing a larger countershaft sprocket creates higher gearing, while a larger rear sprocket lowers gearing. Similarly, a smaller front sprocket lowers the gearing while a smaller rear sprocket makes the gearing higher. So, can test and check and then for the same RPM your New Speed = Old Speed * 16/X where X is the number of tooth of the sprocket being replaced.✌️

    3:18 Bro the power band is around 8.5K to 10K RPM if you want the pull of it. There is a dead space around 7K-8K rpms before it starts pulling again. Gotta rev it out, or get an ecu flash so you have more linear power

    Wpuld you recommend rs660 for use as commute and track day, pleasure riding? I wpuld live about 85 miles to nearest dealer. A little comcerned for durability and ability to work on myself. Not sure if I wamt all that tech in it. I change my own oil, tires, brakes worried the dash will light up like a xmas tree with warnings etc... Thinking maybe R7 might be better choice although a few ponies down on top end than aprilia.

    • @ChaseJasperDown
      @ChaseJasperDown  11 месяцев назад +3

      So personally, I believe the RS660 is one of the all around best bikes you can own. You can't get the features this bike has at any other price point. There is a lot of tech on the bike, but it's very easy to navigate through. It's a total track bike when you want it to be. And if you just wanna cruise, there is literally a "Commute" setting. The R7 is a good bike in it's own right, but my honest opinion is that I would be prouder to show off the Aprilia than the R7. I hope that helps. Thanks so much for watching!

    Regarding the acceleration, how heavy are you?
    I have an extrema and I weigh 130 @5’8”, it’s much more aggressive than what I saw in your video.
    Ride safe.
    Edit: You mentioned you’re 250, that would impact acceleration. You may be happier with the RSv4.

    • @ChaseJasperDown
      @ChaseJasperDown  10 месяцев назад +2

      Well losing the weight is my first priority. I've lost 40 lbs so far and aiming for another 50 right now. That should solve some of my issues. I would love a loud exhaust, but I'm so obsessed with the tucked away clean look of the stock exhaust. Plus it does sound good when I get on it. Currently I'm almost to 6k miles in 8 months. Hey thanks for watching and commenting!

    You’re right about the mirrors. But I don’t agree with much else. The lag in acceleration is due to you being in too high of a gear for the speeds. Try the same thing in first gear and the bike will respond. It’s a sports bike after all…

  • @Kill3r360
    @Kill3r360 4 месяца назад

    i dont own the bike im no mechanic ive been watching some stuff about the bike for about two days; but if i had to take a guess for the acceleration bugging thingny id put my guess on a sort of VVT, since it's half of a v4 from a rsv4 and im 99% sure there is a variable valve timing system on it, it's more than likely that there's also one on the rs660 which could be the reason of why you feel 2 types of acceleration in low rpm vs higher rpms :)
    If someone with more knowledge can confirm or deny my guess id be pretty appreciated

    Just traded in my 2021 for a gsxr1000. The RS has it all it’s just not enough. If it had 20 - 30 more hp it’d be way more fun, if the QS was just a little smoother, if getting parts from Aprilia was not waiting 6+ months, if it didn’t eat oil as much….. it’s comfortable, quick, looks good, it’s just not put together right. The engine is mounted on the frame so it vibrates a ton and causes so many problems. I loved mine but I just started to not trust it and find it meh.

    Its a 660 twin and your a big boy, get the V4....that will get up and go... the stickers and notch in fairing wouldnt bother me....suspension isnt gonna be setup for you, have to respring it for your weight as most bikes you probably would or just buy a new shock ( can get a good one for $600).....the mohawk helmet and sedici jacket though on an Aprilia, 😂
    I have sedici gear while comfy, the helmet sucks in the wind and jacket just has no style.....which is fine on certain bikes but not on an italian bike....
    If your gonna keep the bike get a professional tune and springs for your weight (fir guys in target weight range its actually decent suspension for being budget based)....still a good bargain fir everything bike has, be nice if it was 120-130hp range.......

    • @ChaseJasperDown
      @ChaseJasperDown  10 месяцев назад

      Wow thanks a lot for the response! Yeah I am trying to lose the weight first and foremost. I've already lost 40 lb, Just 50 more to go and I'll be back to normal. I definitely agree that the V4. It's a great bike. I just love the rarity of my bike and the design to e is killer.
      I hate my riding gear. It's a long story, but basically I ran into some financial troubles and to top it off, all my old expensive gear doesn't fit anymore. Anyways, great comment! Thanks for watching!

    Overall it’s amazing. It’s just a couple little annoying extras is all.
    But you need to stop saying this is a beginner bike.
    This is an intermediate bike.
    Plain flat and simple.
    It has more power than a beginner bike. If your saying your a seasoned rider and your not having fun on that you clearly don’t have enough miles under your belt. Especially if your comparing it to a 1000. That’s a whole different power and type of bike. That’s like comparing a Honda to a corvette.
