    Personally, I feel the RS660 is the best looking bike to be released in years, not to mention an all around very competant machine.

      @system7962 it's such an all-around package at a very reasonable price. I can't think of any bike that competes in this sector. Personally, I love my Triumph ST, it does everything I need very well, but the Aprillia is already top of the list for my next bike, even its beauty has a lot to do with it.

    I had the same issues with my 22 rs660. You should’ve gotten the updated linkages, the fact that yours is still moving tells me that it’s not. I have done over 17k miles with the new linkage and it won’t budge. Also the oil leak is typically just the stator cover gasket and it’s only a noticeable leak when your oil is old depending on how hard you ride. I normally change mine anywhere from 1500-2700 miles and recently changed to a slightly thick oil for the hotter temps which eliminated the loud ticking due to the lifters since mine has some miles on it and the engine feels healthier

  • @flightmedic68wf
    @flightmedic68wf Год назад +5

    I have the Stars and Stripes also. Mine leaked old from the shaft seal around the water pump. Oil dripped out of the water pump housing weep hole. The dealership fixed it in like 4 hours. I got the same exhaust, just the CF version and personalized a few other things. These bikes are nice. Good review.
    LS2 makes a stars and stripes themed helmet btw. Full face and a half faced.

    Nice review - I actually think this type of bike it best suited to real world roads. The only Aprilia sports alternative is 200bhp or thereabouts and that's way too much for the road these days. I fonly Aprilia made a 800cc modern Falco version I'd be into that :-D

    • @jordangarrick703
      @jordangarrick703 Год назад

      I never understood the "too much power for the street" angle....isn't "too much power" the selling - and buying - point of modern sport bikes? They are intentionally designed to be outrageously fast and ridden at highly illegal speeds. And when manufacturers underpower their sport bikes (Yamaha R7, U.S. version of the Kawasaki ZX-4RR) the public rightfully bitches and moans. I just sold an RC 51 partly because the bike was absurdly slow compared to the ZX-9R I previously had....But to each their own. I will say this little Aprilia is a great looking bike - just needs another team of horses hitched to the wagon.

      Anyway yea I just don’t get it.

    For GP Shift, you just need to take that shift rod (you know, the one that came loose) and just flip it 180'. Take a 10mm Hex and loosed the bolt. Remove and flip. You may need to slightly adjust to make sure your shifter can freely move up and down. Re-adjust he the shift lever by turning the rod to move it up and down. Dont forget to tighten the lock screws. Then turn the bike on and run through the gears. Your should see an R on the bottom of the screen next to the quick shifter icon that usually blinks orange or black.
    Great bike, I have the Tuono 660 Factory and came from a 09 ZX6R. Love the twin so much more.

    I can help with the DB killer at the end of the exhaust. Nobody on youtube shows us how to remove. If you take the screw out of the inside top right in the tip and try to use pliers to pull out the DB killer, it might not move. Thats what happened on mine(24 acid gold) so i left the screw out and road it around the block a few times to heat it up and when I came back, tried the pliers again and it came right out!. Definitely try the GABRO tune as well. Hope this helps! Nice review.

      @@theupstandingcitizens To switch to GP (race) shift pattern, you need to pull the shift rod off (the piece that you pulled on, and said can sometimes fall off) and rotate it 180 degrees so that it rotates the opposite direction. Also, if your RS660 is like mine, then you'll need to use Up-Map, get the Aprilia race ECU, or have dealership reprogram your ECU so it will switch the quickshifter/auto-blipper to work with the GP shift pattern.

    Personally I don't like the reliability issues it has, it turns me off completely from it. I'd go for either the r7 or the upcoming zx4r if I was in the market for a middle weight sportbike, but I'm not really, I've been postponing getting a motorcycle license ever since the covid pandemic started so when I do get it I'll be going for a light weight bike like the ninja 400 or r3 and most definitely 2nd hand.

    • @theupstandingcitizens
      @theupstandingcitizens  Год назад

      R7 is nice but the zx4r? Nah, better to get a cruiser since they're designed to go slow.

    • @vali69
      @vali69 Год назад +2

      @@theupstandingcitizens what? They make the same power tho for the same money but the zx4r has more electronic gizmos and a inline 4 instead of twin. Are you confusing it with the ninja 400 or what?

    • @theupstandingcitizens
      @theupstandingcitizens  Год назад +2

      The ZX4R makes 77hp. The RS660 100. Plus it looks better to me....and everyone else with functional eyes 😝

    • @vali69
      @vali69 Год назад +2

      @@theupstandingcitizens I think we were talking about reliability not looks, that's how I originally started. And looks are subjective, everyone's eyes function the same but their brain likes different things. Now some people's brains don't function right and don't understand things like reliability, form over function, or what the topic of the discussion is. That's a different story. The zx4r fits in nicely price wise around the r7 and makes similar power, both are less than the rs660, has the same kind of electronic gizmos as the rs660 which the r7 doesn't have, and has a screeming inline 4 which the 2 others don't have. I don't know about you buddy, but that's clearly better in my opinion, who cares about 22 more hp if the thing's going to end up in service at some point and remain there for like months. I've seen a bunch of people complain about reliability on this bike and on aprilia in general and I just don't see why you'd spend more on a bike that could end up staying more in the shop instead of on the road just because of 22 hp?

    • @theupstandingcitizens
      @theupstandingcitizens  Год назад

      Finally, all I had to do to get a good conversation is talk smack. I do love the scream of an inline 4cyl, but that's a problem if you're gonna use the ZX4R anywhere on the street. You're gonna have to ring it out to nearly 14k rpm to use the 67lbs/ft of torque. The Aprilia can be in 3rd gear doing 20mph, and twisting the throttle will still get you moving quick with its parallel twin. Also, reliability and pricing is such a boring metric. By that logic, buy a Honda Grom. Ultra reliable and way less expensive than that $10,000, 400cc Ninja. I love the Kawasaki line of sport bikes, but im left scratching my head as to why they thought it would do well in the U.S.
