    I’m surprised Sunflora dodged your list. Being a Pokémon who evolves from a stone, it normally takes a while to find one first and even then, you don’t want to do that immediately since it can only learn certain moves beforehand. You expect it to be worth it, right? Well, not this sunflower Pokémon. It’s stats barring Special Attack are horrendous, especially its Speed, and its not even worth wasting a stone. Bellossom might as well be mentioned too because it doesn’t even get the stat buff Vileplume gets in later gens. Great video btw, Emperor Cubone. :)

      I mean, that Special Attack stat combined with two _god-tier_ abilities probably keeps it far away from the list.
      Chlorophyll with max Speed investment lets it contest with base 109 Speed mons in the sun. That's max Speed Kartana, for the uninitiated. And Solar Power cranks its meh damage output up to 11 and lets it, for example, OHKO max HP Garchomps with Solar Beam (though this is Specs in the sun, and it still _barely_ makes the guaranteed kill at ~103% min. Also watch out for Fire Blasts).
      Granted, there are a million mons that do what it does and more, but the likes of Ariados and Ledian aren't coming close to either of those feats.

      @Galv Sparks On your point of it being a pure normal type, I'll be honest when I say I do not get why people say it's actually decent, since it's really not going by type match-ups alone. Normal is literally the most neutral type in the game, and while having only 1 weakness is nice, it really doesn't make up for the fact that it also has zero resistances and 1 immunity to complement it, thus it's not in my opinion a good defensive type. That being said, I will definitely agree that Swoobat isn't completely terrible thanks to the simple + calm mind + stored power combo people keep pointing out

    choosing Vivillon as the worst is a crazy move because that Pokemon is actually incredibly solid. Not only does it learn quiver dance, bug buzz, hurricane, and air slash by level up, but it also has access to the flying type. It also has compound eyes to boost its air slashes, hurricanes, and sleep powders up. It also gets rage powder and friend guard for doubles, making the pokemon an incredible support tool. The powercreep over the gens really shines when it comes to stuff like Spidops. When your Route 1 'rodent' is nearing 500 BST, and several of the non-legendaries can be pretty overpowered, it makes Spidops' low stats shocking. The main thing going on is that it has a lot of entry hazards and a slow U-turn to get your teammates in safely, but that's it really.
    Also Vivillon actually has a use in CompoundEyes + Sleep Powder. Its the fastest Pokemon with an 'accurate' sleeping move with little drawbacks, making it potentially good support. Not much but hey.

      Well, one thing that isn't mentioned in the video is that Spidops' signature move is a Protect that slows physical attackers, so that, with the other things you mentioned, might make it better than Wugtrio. Even if you make the case for Wugtrio having Gooey that also slows physical attackers, it already has higher speed than most of anything it will encounter and the fact that it actually has to get hit for the ability to activate along with Wugtrio's abysmals HP and Defense will most likely mean you only activate it once, while Spidops higher HP and defenses (but still not that great in general) and nature of a protection move means that it has way higher chances of surviving more than 1 turn and set up more debuffs/hazards for the enemy team.

  • @christiancinnabars1402
    @christiancinnabars1402 Год назад +33

    Frosmoth does have its HA saving it from being the weakest in Galar, imo. Ice Scales is a broken ability in a vacuum; halving the damage of all special attacks used against it. The combination of that, Quiver Dance, and a high Special Attack makes it able to eat some special hits, setup, and wreck house.
    I can't say the same for Thievul. Thievul's niche is... Unburden, I guess? The idea is to Nasty Plot up, activate an item, then deal damage with +2/+2. But Thievul not only has a lower Special Attack than Frosmoth, it also has a weaker offensive typing. And what item could it even use? Terrain seeds require a ton of external help from other mons - at that point, you might as well just start Baton chaining boosts onto it. Pinch berries require it to Sub up, which it finds hard to do reliably with its middling speed and poor bulk. And other stuff like Focus Sash, type berries, hit-by-a-type boosters, etc are also very inconsistent and usually rely on your opponent making certain moves - for Focus Sash specifically, one wrong tap (be it chip damage or an attack that barely misses OHKOing it) ruins the entire strategy.
    So basically, Thievul is trash while Frosmoth is decent-ish.
    I still would have liked Frosmoth to have Volcarona stats, though.

    • @CyberchaoX

      Yeah, Ice Scales is such a good ability that it's banned in Almost Any Ability (a Hackmons metagame where Pokémon are still restricted to their normal movepools, but like the name says, can have illegal abilities). Hmm, it feels like abilities were ignored in this analysis. An obvious one to point out is Swoobat, given Simple is an ability that can easily run away with a game. But I think the biggest disagreeance I have with this list is Frosmoth. If you hone in on its physical weakness, I can understand that. But it has Ice Scales, an insane defensive ability coupled with its already decent SpDef. This thing has insane special bulk. In my own SwSh run, a slightly underleveled Frosmoth with this ability and an Assault Vest was able to tank Leon's G-Max Wildfire while Frosmoth was not dynamaxed. I'm surprised Araquanid made your list. I probably have a bit of a bias though, as Araquanid is one of my favorite Bugs (in spite of my real life arachnophobia). I built a competitive team in Pokemon Shield to center around Dracozolt, and Araquanid was added to it purely because of its physical bulk and utility. WIth max Defense and max HP holding Leftovers, this thing was super hard for people to take down. Moveset was Sticky Web, Infestation, Liquidation, and Lunge. It would lock and wall potential threats, keeping its HP up with Lefties and Lunge. By the time it was taken out, my bigger threats like Togekiss, Galarian Darmanitan, and Dracozolt were primed and ready to sweep. I don't think Araquanid deserves to be on this list, but that's just me. I found massive success with it. I love my Bubble Buddy!
