I was raised by my grandma and she was a Jehovah witness and I was told not to do the pledge of allegiance ( just stand up) and my teacher yelled at me and ridiculed me so bad I cried! I was in the 2nd grade, my grandma handled that so well the principal told me that I didn't even have to stand up😊

We met a girl on Christmas of 2021 who grew up a Jehovah's witness. She had already left then. She said they didn't celebrate birthdays and when we asked her how old she was then she said she was born in 1989 and that she was 31. We all said, girl that makes you 32. And it was like watching that episode of Friends where Phoebe learns she's 31 and not 30. She was absolutely heartbroken, the poor thing!

My best friend was Jehova Witness. Couldn't celebrate holidays or birthdays. After he left the church we held a huge birthday party for him and this Christmas he decorated a tree with his bf for the first time.

My late Father was a Jehovah's Witness elder and my older sibling is a faithful practicing one. And no they do not celebrate birthdays. To me they are nice religious people but that maybe because I grew up around them since elementary age. Surprisingly they have never once pushed their faith on me we just accepted each other.
