T.Rex - the creation of Marc Bolan, the band’s leader, creative director and sole song-writer - was born out of the late-1960s’ hippy counter-culture. Bolan’s road to superstardom took him from 18-year-old folk singer to proto-punk guitar thrasher in John’s Children, via the blissed-out Tolkien-washed mysticism of Tyrannosaurus Rex to fully-fledged Glam Rock idol in T.Rex. Following their breakthrough 1970 hit, Ride A White Swan, T.Rex became the biggest pop phenomenon of the new decade, scoring chart-topping, award-winning singles and LPs across Europe, the Far East, and Australia, while finding success in North America via the top-10 single Get It On (Bang A Gong) and hit albums Electric Warrior and The Slider. Decades after Bolan’s tragically early death, the influence of T.Rex is still felt across the music world. His status as one of the leading British music stars has recently been recognised with the induction of T.Rex into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Marc 12 though it got pulled before nationwide release dont know the real story behind it though it's been doctored a few times though dont know what Marc's original was like whether there were strings on it or not

I became this xmas song from Marc Bolan german fan Club on cassette. 1973 or 1974 or 1975 I dont know. I lov this song and play on christmas eve. Merry christmas all Bolan fans in the World. ❤😊

Got to be THE crappest christmas song of all time.
. . . that's as may be (depends what you consider a crap Christmas song - I, for one, think Last Christmas by Swam not only the worst Christmas song but perhaps THE worst song of all time - but there you go). Technically everyone thinks the song is in C with Marc's favourite chord progression following - however, you can only play that with the capo on II because the song is in D. I will leave you to work the real chords out . . . just saying like 🎅

@@loftyskies3956 very true . . . it was given a catalogue no. and readied for release but, apparently, Marc cooled on the idea of a Christmas song - blaming the vinyl shortage of the mid 70s (oil crisis as was) . . . there were a couple actually pressed and changing hands for silly money . . . I don't mind the song myself - hardly a classic but makes me feel Christmassy 🎅🎅🎅

@@zincalloy2213 Marc didn't like the Idea of making money out of Christmas and that's could be the reason it never got released in1975 in 1982 it got released by the bolan fan club 7in and 12in.
